My daughter's wedding was on 6/14/24. From the moment I spoke with the executive director, Joanne Grigsby I knew this choice would be a great one, and indeed it was! With 75 days to plan my daughter's wedding and hire vendors, we hit the jackpot with Bennett Caterers. Joanne was a joy to work with from beginning to end. She was attentive, detailed, flexible, and worked within our limited budget to pull off an amazing short notice reception.
The quality of service was phenomenal. The staff was professional, courteous, efficient, and aimed to please. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS, plentiful, and nicely presented. Our guests continue to compliment on how great the food and service was.
Bennett Caterers dedication to making our event absolutely perfect was obvious from the first day we met. I would wholeheartedly use Bennett Caterers again, and highly recommend to anyone looking for scrumptious, quality food, reasonable prices, and top notch service. Job well done! Thank you Bennett Caterers for making the day extra special!

We had amazing luck when it came to hiring vendors. They all worked well together and set an amazing vibe for our wedding!
Joanne from Bennett Caterers went beyond our expectations! Planning during COVID was overwhelming and she put us at ease from the beginning. The chicken and the steak were delicious as well as everything else, especially the appetizers! Your staff was incredible and went above and beyond to take care of everyone. The food speaks for itself! We were delighted with the experience and look forward to working with Bennett Caterers in the future.

Bennett’s Catering provided food services on March 15, at Southern Area Aquatics Center (SAARC), Brandywine, Maryland, for my wife’s retirement celebration of 40 years in the Federal Government. Upon my initial contact with Ms. Joanne Grigsby, Bennett’s Director, we met at the event venue, toured the newly built facility and conference rooms, started a planning dialogue that included detailed meal plan options and event logistics. Ms. Grigsby was very helpful, responsive, and very flexible in adjusting event parameters as we walked thru the process over an approximate one-month planning period. On the day of the event, Ms. Grigsby’s staff and workers were on time, very courteous, and truly professional in making our celebration a huge success. My wife and family were very happy with the event outcome; the food was delicious; and most of all, the event was completed on-time and conference room and kitchen quarters left in tip-top condition after clean-up. I would certainly recommend Bennett’s to others needing similar services; and I would certainly use their services for any of my future events requiring food services.

Wow! What an amazing experience working with Bennett Caterers.
Ms. Joanne did an amazing job catering our wedding! My husband and I decided on a wedding just TWO months before the wedding date. Ms, Joanne made it happen! The menu, drinks, deserts, were amazing! All of our guests LOVED the food. BC puts a generous amount of food on each of the plates. The staff/waiters are so sweet and helpful. We had passed around appetizers during our cocktail hour that were delicious. For dinner we had an amazing combination of some of my husbands and I's favorite foods. Ms. Joanne made a special punch and everyone kept asking for the recipe. I loved it! This was by far the best experience I have ever had with a catering company. The table decor came out beautifully and I thoroughly enjoyed my interactions with Ms. Joanne (I call her a magician because she made the impossible... POSSIBLE). I highly recommend! -

Wonderful, accommodating caterer!!
My first interaction with the owner, Joanne, was wonderful. She was incredibly helpful in not only deciding on the wedding menu, but in matching colors, suggesting decor, and offering advice for planning as she was aware that I was planning my own wedding and had no idea what I was doing!
She helped me afford the full-service buffet catering by working out pricing that worked well for my budget and worked out ALL the buffet options I wanted! I was super excited and incredibly happy with the menu! It hit all food options, meats, seafood, vegetarian.
We scheduled a tasting during our meeting with the venue representative and Joanne provided all the needed documentation for catering. The tasting was all of the entrees/sides that we put on the menu, AND additional tastings of other options and iced tea that I wanted. Since we didn't really have "tasting" time at the venue, she packed it up into take-out boxes and let us take so much food home! It was as if we went to a restaurant and got take-out food for dinner!
I hired Bennett Caterers for my wedding ceremony/reception, all located in the same lodge. Set-up time was scheduled from 12:00-2:00pm, with the ceremony supposed to begin at 2:00pm. They were already at the location when we arrived for set-up and setting up table linens. In that time frame, I threw the decor onto the tables and ran off to get ready for my wedding.
By the time I came back up for the ceremony, all of the tables were beautifully covered with the plates and silverware. Everything was set-up and the buffet was warm and ready on the side. During dinner, the food was very good and everyone seemed satisfied. With my nervousness, I kind of forgot to eat during my entire wedding, but at least the guests enjoyed it! The bar was also great!
The waiters were incredibly respectful and Joanne's team was great. If there was anything I could have changed, I probably would have pushed a couple of late night (after party) snacks that could have gone around during the dancing, as I didn't get the try any appetizers during cocktail hour, since I was off taking photos. :( To any brides that plan their own wedding, you SHOULD have breakfast, because I thought I'd get to try some of the food and I didn't... :(( But I'm so happy the guests enjoyed it all!
Just a side note -- I didn't quite know this was universal for caterers, but to avoid liability issues, they cannot leave you leftovers (especially since the food sits out for a long time), so don't be surprised if you don't get to keep everything that you saw after dinner.

My husband and I were married in June and our family and friends are still raving about how the food was DELICIOUS and PLENTEOUS and the staff was courteous and accommodating. We have been told that the food at our wedding was the best food that they had at a wedding.
It was a true pleasure to work with Ms. Grigsby and her staff as they are professional and flexible when working with us on our last minute changes and our budget. From the initial consultation, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of service. She went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding day was a success. Ms. Grigsby's experience combined with her awesome personality helped make planning our wedding easier.
Bennett Caterers provides first class food and service. I recommend Bennett Caterers and Ms. Grigsby to anyone and everyone who is looking for incredible food and outstanding service!!! -

I'm forever grateful to them for this because not only was the food great, her service was great! She even had a back up plan for us when our cake didn't show up! I highly reccommend her to anyone getting married in DC area.

Ltosha Sent on 01/05/2011I can definitely say that choosing Bennett as our caterer was one of the best decisions that we made during our wedding process. Not only was the company EXTREMELY affordable, but Joanne was VERY flexible and understanding of our needs. Our event was multi-cultural (African and African-American); however, she was still able to accommodate both families. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS... I swear, we had the only wedding were our guest asked for seconds and thirds! Their service was also outstanding. Professional, is an understatement. We definitely did not feel like we were taken advantage of - the presentation was impeccable (the monogrammed ice sculpture; the high-top cocktail tables; guest tables and the food)... lets just say i would definitely rehire Joanne. Thank you, next to our parents, she was a life saver. -
Dawn Sent on 05/09/2018We hired Bennett to cater our son's Bar Mitzvah after attending a wedding they catered. The food was excellent, the tables were gorgeous (we had it in an industrial space but you would have never known), the staff was excellent, especially Joanne Grigsby who is so professional and took care of all asks and addressed all concerns. Best of all was the price -- very reasonable for such an affair. I would highly recommend Bennett for any event you need caterered.

I will start off by saying that Joanne is a very pleasant lady because I don't like to assassinate anyone's character. I was unhappy with the service from my wedding. Although, she threw in many "complimentary" things into my package, she failed to actually deliver what was on the contract and rectify the situation fairly.
Pros: The food was delicious and got many compliments from my guests on taste.
Cons: Because they are so long I will put them in bullet points.
We, the bride and groom, were not served anything until the reception when we were told that we were to get food before the reception. Although, it rained and she was unable to set up the table, she did not have a plan B for feeding the bride and groom (at least, especially since we paid for it). Instead, my bridal party had to go search for food in the kitchen so that I could eat something during and after pictures.
There was an agreed upon menu that was not served, but instead she chose to give complimentary items and I have no idea where the complimentary items came from because they were not discussed with me, the contract holder, prior to the event.
She sent us, the bride and groom, away with food that wasn't eaten by the guest instead of packing us a plate before serving other guests and that was only given to us because my aunt insisted that we get some food after the wedding.
She claims that I didn't tell her about any food allergies when there are witnesses at our meeting who can support that we did tell her about food allergies that her staff did not abide by.
There were guests telling me that there were flies surrounding open food and there was cream based ranch dressing (which I did not ask for) that wasn't set on ice on a 90 degree weather day.
She was 30 minutes late to a meeting with my mother (planner), my coordinator, and myself without any previous communication. I had to call her for her to tell me that she would be there in 5 minutes, which turned into 30 minutes. After that incident, I spoke with her about my concerns about her following through and she assured me that there would not be any problems with her.
The wedding cake table cloth had a knot in it. I don't know if something spilled on the table cloth and they didn't want anyone to know or something but now I'll have that in my wedding cake pictures and video and it was very unattractive. It was very disappointing.
The cake was cut TERRIBLY! When I saw the left overs I couldn't believe how chopped up it looked.
Last but not least, when I told her my concerns and disappointment after the wedding I requested a 75% refund, which could have been negotiated amicably, she sent me a titled "rebuttal letter" and offered my husband and I a gift certificate for $300 when we don't even live in the state. We had our wedding in Maryland; however, we live in Ohio and she had no regard for us in that matter.
All of my other vendors have raving reviews and I hate that I've had these issues with Ms. Joanne. She assured me that she wanted to make this as stress free as possible but she brought most of my stress on my wedding day. I would hate for anyone else to go through what I went through. I'm glad that others had a good experience with MS. Joanne, I just wish mine were the same. Please be mindful of who you pick as your caterer for your wedding day and make sure they have a plan B for rainy days.
