A Wedding Planning Lifesaver!
I booked Janice as a month-of coordinator and she was an actual lifesaver. She helped me implement my extravagant vision, while keeping me grounded on the reality of some logistics. She knew the answers to my questions before I even asked them! I honestly wish I had booked her sooner in my planning process. Wedding Day Essential!
There are many words I could use to describe Janice—organized, sincere, friendly, persistent, knowledgeable—but one of the best words to describe her is unflappable. That is certainly a quality you need when managing a wedding! We hired Janice for day-of wedding planning and she calmly took all the worry out of orchestrating the complex operations of that day! What a relief! Her in-depth knowledge of how things actually work and all the little details that matter (that most people are unaware of) are her forte. She’s a true professional. The detailed timeline she generates is a MUST and keeps everything running smoothly! Her long-developed relationships with well-known vendors is evident and helps assure a flawless event. Janice is an absolute necessity to assure you, your family, and guests have a stress-free day! I would recommend her services to anyone planning a wedding —no matter the size or venue. Janice is truly incomparable!

We loved Bellwether Events!
My husband and I found Janice through her blog and were drawn to her transparency about an industry that can often feel opaque and hard to navigate. We met with two other potential planners, but we decided to follow our initial instinct and put our trust in Janice. She did not disappoint! Janice kept the entire planning process incredibly organized and did an amazing job of finding vendors that aligned with our (sometimes very specific) vision. Anytime we started to feel overwhelmed, Janice was ready with a detailed timeline, polite-but-firm reminder emails, and a very encouraging attitude. Janice was also very receptive and enthusiastic about helping us incorporate important cultural elements into our day that she had not had experience previously (ex. A Japanese kagami biraki ceremony). Most importantly, Janice was extremely reliable. For example, my bridesmaids and I were supposed to get our hair and make-up done at a hotel the morning of the wedding, but after we woke up to a power outage and alerted Janice, she immediately jumped into action arranging a new location and updating the beauty and photo teams about the change. She then raced over to the hotel to help me and my MOHs pack up my wedding dress, shoes, accessories, and bridesmaids gifts and convinced the concierge to let us use the emergency freight elevator so that we wouldn’t have to run down 15 flights of stairs. Her husband drove us all to the alternate location and, miraculously, all of the hair, make-up, group photos, and dressing were completed with a whopping 15 minutes to spare! Despite the early morning switch-up, the rest of the day went off without a hitch and we knew the wedding couldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did if it weren’t for Janice’s work (both in the planning and the day-of coordination). We are so glad to have hired Janice and 100% recommend Bellwether Events.-

Totally Seamless Experience
We worked with Janice for a year planning our April 2024 wedding and it was the best first decision we made - we knew immediately she was the right fit for us! Janice was clearly experienced, seemingly knowing everything and everybody needed to make the day just what we wanted. She was extremely organized and kept everything and everyone moving during the planning process. Janice struck the right balance of listening to what we wanted, but didn’t shy away from making recommendations based on her years of experience - and she was always right! She also handled so much behind the scenes with the venue and vendors that we often didn’t even know about until after the fact. Not only was Janice fantastic, but she introduced us to the most amazing team of other vendors and worked with them to make the entire wedding day absolutely perfect - it was all totally seamless, which is the first word we told her early on when describing what we wanted from the day. -

1000 Days of Incredible Service
Janice helped us plan our covid-delayed wedding not one time, not two times, not three times but four separate times over the course of three years. Without her, we would have been lost, overwhelmed and alone. During an unprecedented time for the wedding industry, she competently answered every single question we had for her and never once led us astray. She quickly got a sense of what we wanted and flawlessly guided us through many difficult decisions. On the big day, she was in complete control of all the scheduled events, managing everything from ensuring our pup had the right flowers on her collar, to organizing the numerous vendors, to adorning our cake that required a final touch up! We had the day of our dreams and have Janice to thank for it. We cannot recommend her enough. She is organized, knowledgeable and most importantly a lot of fun to work with! -

You guys. Janice is seriously the best! Work with bellwether events
Let me just start this review by saying that this review is long — but only because Janice is 100% WORTH the word count. Second, FYI my (now) husband I both STRONGLY dislike planning "social" events. As two busy young professionals living in NYC, we are great at managing work-related projects, but for some reason, completely fall to pieces when tasked with organizing birthday parties, or even something as simple as a casual happy hour with friends. As such, the thought of planning our OWN WEDDING (a super important life event, btw) seemed overwhelmingly daunting for us. Don’t get us wrong; we obviously enjoy going to parties, and have attended a number of weddings over the past few years — all of which were lovely and fantastically executed. For some reason, however, the thought of planning our own wedding just felt so…unattainable … … …
ENTER JANICE CARNEVALE - who swooped in like an ABSOLUTE BOSS to save the day (and our sanity).
Just a few things we love about Janice, and why you should work with her:
* Her professionalism & proactiveness; we had a ton of anxiety about kicking off the wedding research process but Janet made us feel at ease right away. She came to our first meeting super prepared with concrete guidance, but also a willingness to truly listen to our concerns and needs.
* Her knowledge of the industry; she knows the ins and outs of the business and has also built solid relationships with great vendors in the area — makeup, flowers, music, photographers, hair, caterers, etc. We worked with her for over a year and trusted her guidance and expertise throughout.
* Her flexibility & responsiveness; I grew up in the DMV and had my heart set on getting married in the area, despite me and my husband living in NYC. That meant we had to do a ton of “virtual/remote” planning online + over the phone, which we at first, expected to be challenging…but Janice made the whole experience easy and stress-free. She was also incredibly patient with our (my) indecisiveness and never pressured us to make premature decisions.
* She has fabulous taste; her style is on point and she provided awesome guidance throughout the wedding design process. At this same time, she knew how to work with our personal styles, and made thoughtful and creative suggestions. Sounds cheesy, but she managed to successfully translate our abstract ideas and rambling thoughts into a beautiful reality.
* Her willingness to go above and beyond; Janice was technically only responsible for managing the “main event”, but she willingly lent her support and expertise to helping us plan other wedding events. — including welcome drinks and morning after brunch (which were also perfect, btw). She also personally assembled all of our guest welcome boxes — a task I was really dreading.
* Her honesty and candor; we really needed a wedding planner who was willing to work with us, but also manage our expectations in terms of budget. Janice kept us in check and managed our expectations, but still delivered a wedding that fully met our standards.
* Her general personality; Janice is fun to work with and has a sense of humor. She takes her work very seriously, but knows how to empathize and relate to her clients. Wedding planning is stressful, and she gets that.
* Her project management skills and ability to deliver; needless to say, our wedding went off without a hitch. Janice orchestrated the entire schedule for our big day, and kept our entire wedding party (disorganized family members included) on track/schedule for the main event. We were so nervous leading up to the main event, but our wedding day was gorgeous and absolutely PERFECT!
* Oh, and totally NBD, but she got us on the COVER of a freakin’ MAGAZINE…I mean, COME ON…enough said (But seriously, though, Washingtonian Weddings, Winter/Spring 2020).
In sum, BRIDES AND GROOMS: WORK. WITH. JANICE. WORK. WITH. BELLWETHER. EVENTS. We promise you, you won't regret it!

Fantastic Experience
Janice and her team took care of us from beginning to end and were an indispensable part of our successful wedding weekend for 275 guests. She was always accessible; had a huge, collaborative vendor network to tap into; and generally made everything easy for us. Highly recommend!-

For a No Worry Wedding Day, Go with Bellwether Events
Janice is absolutely amazing! She knows everything and anything about throwing a perfect and seamless wedding. It's hard to find someone who can see the big picture while getting all the minor details right and that's Janice. And she takes the time to really get to know you as a couple so everything is just right for all your wedding activities. She made recommendations and asked us questions about things we would have never even thought of but were absolutely necessary. And after my wedding, when I kept asking oh what about this or that, everything was taken care of because Janice was working her magic behind the scenes. I highly recommend working with Janice if you're able. We used Bellwether for the coordination process. After our intro phone call, my husband and I were relieved to have found a wedding planner who was straightforward and incredibly efficient. Bellwether/Janice batted 1000 for our big day!
We chose Bellwether Events after reviewing quite a lot of positive online recommendations, and only afterward learned that she had planned one of the most amazing D.C. weddings that we had been to at the Hay Adams a year earlier. We went with "day-of" planning services which actually encompassed quite a lot more meetings and preparations leading up to the big day, than just day-of. Janice batted 1000 for our wedding!!! She made sure that everything - *everything* - including the stuff you'd never think of, were planned down to the last detail, and ready to go come our big day. We had a 150 person church ceremony, followed by a reception at Sequoia in Georgetown, with over a dozen vendors/moving parts (from photo booth, to cake, to 10-person live band, to Ice Luge), so not small by any stretch of the imagination. Everything went off completely seamlessly with 0.0 issues and I chalk that up to Bellwether/Janice's excellence at what she does! All we had to think about was enjoying the day. Where Bellwether/Janice truly excels over other planners is her friendly but no-nonsense approach to getting things done, and done 100% correctly, the first time. Even with only day-of service, I feel like we got extra value as if we had a full planner because of how great of a job she did. I can only imagine how seamless her full planning service would be. Go with Bellwether with 110% confidence and enjoy the big day!-

Best Wedding Planner Ever
We went to Janice after first using a different wedding planner who didn't really mesh with our style too well. While our vendors were on track, our family was not. Everyone was fighting all the time and there were lots of tears. The day we brought Janice on, everything changed! She brought peace to the process and everyone felt heard. On top of bringing the best calm energy ever to our family, she was truly the best wedding planner. Every single detail was thought of. At no point did she ever imply things were out of scope or not her job. She did everything. She always responded to everything promptly and truly made the process easy. I know she had other clients while we were working together, but she made me feel like I was her only client and her top priority, and I'm positive her other brides felt the same way. She balances calm and collected with detail oriented like a pro. Plus my mother loved her and she is incredibly hard to please. If you are looking for a planner, look no further. Just call Janice. You won't regret it. -

The best in the business
If you're reading this review looking for a world-class planner, you should just stop now and hire Janice and the Bellwether team. Seriously. After being put in touch by a friend, my now-husband (!!) and I worked with Janice to plan our wedding in DC while we were living abroad in London. From our first call with her in Dec '18 to our wedding day in Nov '19, Janice was indispensable. She helped us both with advance planning/vendor selection as well as week/day-of coordination. Because we were only able to be in DC once or twice before the wedding itself, we trusted Janice to guide us on everything from picking a venue (which we did sight unseen) to suggesting all the local vendors. We have zero regrets on any of it. The vendors that she suggested were incredible (and many were local women-owned small businesses) and such a pleasure to get to know. Janice also helped us understand overall planning timelines, how to make our budget stretch for the things we cared the most about, coordinated with vendors the week-of and day-of, and was a superstar running our rehearsal and day-of. Our wedding day was stress-free, due in large part to Janice's organization, quick response times, attention to detail, ability to connect with and navigate complex families, and complete professionalism. Her day-of assistant was also amazing. Our only regret is that now it's over and we don't get to hang out with Janice all the time anymore! -

Putting your big day in Janice's hands is one of the smartest decisions you'll make.
Janice is the first wedding planner that we talked to and was with us for the entire process, from budget planning and venue selection to bustling my dress and the sparkler send-off. She was a referral from a colleague who told me about her impeccable service. Janice is one of the most responsive people that I have ever worked with, and that includes colleagues and co-workers. She is prompt, communicative, clear, and very detail-oriented. She's also an expert at her craft. Janice will ensure that your wedding/event is a success and runs seamlessly. She is also flexible. We first engaged her for a venue search under what was already a tight timeline. We then engaged her for a wedding planning package, which she customized based on our needs and concerns. Her work and assistance were invaluable. Janice even helped us stick to our budget when we started to wander. Her vendor recommendations were spot on and, because we were planning so many things so close to the actual wedding day, she was able to help us get good deals. She doesn't necessarily have a warm and fuzzy approach, but she will get the job done impeccably. There were frustrating moments during the planning process, but I wouldn't change a thing. I knew the day-off that I could let it all go, relax, and enjoy with Janice at the helm. I trusted her 100% to ensure that my day was flawless, and it most certainly was. Professional, insightful, and so organized!
Initially, when starting wedding planning, we honestly were not considering a wedding planner, in attempts to save some money during the process. The venue we selected required a coordinator, and in hindsight, I’m so glad they did because we found Courtney at Bellwether. Courtney is so professional and organized, and her expertise provided insight throughout the whole wedding process. She was so patient as we worked through the timeline and vendors, and she provided answers to questions we didn’t even know we had. I can’t imagine what we may have missed if we didn’t have Courtney to walk us through it all.
On the day, Courtney kept us on schedule, with patience and a calm demeanor. She actively participated in the set-up of our venue, making sure every little detail we planned was included. When things went awry (at no fault of her own and because it happens no matter how hard you try), she solved the issues without causing panic (mostly for me). She even had a Tide-to-Go in her bag for when I got grass stains on my dress during photos and ran after my veil for me, when it flew off literally seconds before I walked down the isle. I strongly recommend Courtney and Bellwether Events for your coordinating needs! -

Made Everything Run Smoothly
We hired Janice for her "month of coordination" and she was fantastic. Janice met with us a month out and again a week before the wedding. She made sure that all of the little details that we hadn't thought of were covered.
At one point, we had meant to get a welcome sign made for our wedding and we completely forgot! But Janice didn't! She got a sign that she already had and had it done by a contact of hers.
On the day of the wedding, she and her assistant Courtney ran the event so smoothly that nothing went wrong. At one point Courtney called my now husband to make sure that he didn't come in to the venue at the wrong time and see me in my dress prematurely.
Janice was just perfect. We highly recommend her to anyone looking to hire her.

Best of the best.
In a nutshell, Janice of Bellwether Events is a wedding mastermind and stopped at nothing to make our wedding the most amazing without batting an eye. Although there are many instances we can think of, the one that stands out the most is our wedding venue switch less than 3 months before our wedding day. Our original venue in DC was set to open in April and our wedding was in October. After we sent out the invitations, the original venue told us (in July) that they would not be open by our wedding date. While we were freaking out, Janice pulled together a list of venues STILL available in DC on that same date (DC was a destination for our guests) within 10 hours of us hearing the news. We immediately booked a trip down for the following week and Janice scheduled back-to-back tours with each of the venues we were interested in. Still in shock that we sent out invites and need to change venues, Janice helped us find the best option in a incredibly timely manner while keeping her cool. We confirmed a new venue within 2 weeks and she helped us roll out all the changes we needed to make. And of course, the wedding turned out stunningly thanks to her help. We cannot thank her enough for going above and beyond.-

Janice is the absolute best
If you are even contemplating a wedding planner in the DMV area, you must hire Janice!! My mom interviewed 35 planners in the area before telling me Janice was the perfect one for us. I don't admit this lightly, but mom was right :) Janice is the most creative, organized and helpful planner you will find. Both my husband and I are super type A people but Janice kept our stress in line and we trusted her implicitly to run point with vendors, keep our budget on track, and on the day of, make sure everything ran without a hitch. She both helped us craft a big picture vision for the day and find the perfect fun details that made our wedding so special -- and uniquely us. From the little things -- like making sure we had snacks after the ceremony to making an extra trip to a rental place to ensure our place-settings matched the plates we picked -- Janice went above and beyond every step of the way and made our experience incredibly fun. She's the absolute best and I can't recommend her more highly! -

We hired Janice as our Day of Coordinator, but it was more like month of coordinator. Janice knows her stuff. She is very knowledgeable and straight to the point. As a bride it can be easy to become distracted and overwhelmed. I found Janice to be very helpful in keeping me organized and my vendors updated because you just can't do it all. She made us a schedule for everything and not one thing went wrong on my wedding day. I was running late on the morning of the wedding which definitely put us a little behind but we still started the ceremony right on time! There were times on my wedding day where I felt tired and overwhelmed (let's face it being a bride is exhausting) and the schedule was a little hard to keep up with, but it's really there to make sure that you get to do all the things you wanted to do and don't run out of time and we were able to do all the things we wanted and I am thankful for such a seamless day. Janice removed a lot of anxiety for me. Everything was set up exactly how I wanted it and I didn't have to worry about going around to check and make sure it was right. She and her team also packed up everything I brought and helped us get it downstairs so we could load it up. She orchestrated our entire rehearsal which I could never have done aloe although I wrote the ceremony. Janice really went above and beyond for us and I am so thankful for her. If you are looking for a planner/coordinator look no further, you'll be so glad you chose her. -

LOST.... Thats how I would have felt without Janice. I work in catering so I had a really good grasp on that side of the planning process. However, I didn't even consider all the parts that I am not typically involved in like the CEREMONY. I never imagined all of the smaller details that were so significant/imperative to the outcome of my wedding. She was on top of it all and made sure everything went smooth. I cannot recommend her enough. Trust me, you wont be disappointed! -

Janice is effing awesome! We hired her for "month out" services and couldn't be happier. It was clear from our first meeting that she wanted to get to know us to figure out what we wanted and how she could best assist in pulling everything together.... which she did! She provided an invaluable resource when trying to make the hundreds of tiny decisions that play into the flow and feel of the day, but never forced us into choosing any specific thing. She was ready for whatever we threw at her- like two giant, divorced high- maintenance families- and was calm and collected the whole time. We had about 160 wedding guests- 90% from out of town- and she and her team made sure everyone left the hotel, got to the church, and then the reception on time. Most importantly, Janice made my husband and I feel completely ready for the day and we trusted that she would make sure everything would go off without a hitch. I didn't have to worry about anything on the wedding day. I felt more relaxed than I had in the previous 6 months and Janice had everything to do with that!
To summarize- we were happy and relaxed; the timeline worked; there were no hiccups; and everyone had an awesome time. Honestly, what more could you want for your wedding?
And just as an aside- the relationship did not end after the wedding. When our photographer went MIA for 6 months, she helped us by reaching out to her network and working with us to put together a step-by-step plan to get the photos, which we eventually did. I can't say enough about how great she was to work with! -

Janice was great. We wouldn't have been able to get this wedding planned without her. She made sure she stayed on top of us throughout the process so that we would stay on track and on schedule. She knows so many vendors that we had no trouble selecting who to use for catering, flowers, DJ, etc. She was especially great on the day of, corralling the circus of vendors and bridal party members and making sure everything went smoothly. Janice was absolutely invaluable!! We hired her for “month-of”coordination, which was really more like “6-plus weeks, and also I’ll help you out by emails well before that!” We sent her all of our vendor contracts as we made them earlier on, which meant she was pretty up to speed on everything by the time we met up for the first time.
I tend to be super-organized as it is, and even still, I knew my husband and I alone couldn’t manage all the final details, coordination, rehearsal, and work needed for the day. We met with Janice twice, in addition to a final walk-through at the venue and when she ran the rehearsal itself. She was a pro through it all: whether it was our last minute changes (there were a few), wrangling the ringbearers, or calling back our florist to return with an item we needed that day. And those are only the parts we saw! I can’t recommend Janice and Bellwether Events strongly enough. -

Janice is an amazing wedding planner and we were very lucky to have had her as our month of planner. We would have definitely benefitted from using her through the whole process, and if we were to do this again we would hire her for the entire wedding planning and preparation period. Since we were planning the wedding from overseas, Janice really enabled us to have the wedding we always dreamed of with as little stress as possible. She was on top of every detail leading up to the wedding and also provided thoughtful advice throughout the process, she even procured our wedding license for us since we couldn’t be there ahead of time to apply ourselves. She also expertly coordinated and communicated with all of our different vendors. She was a calming influence both leading up to the wedding and during the big day since we knew she would be able to handle any curve balls. Janice allowed my wife and I to completely focus on and enjoy our big day without distraction! I would absolutely recommend her to any friends and family as well as anyone in the DMV area. -

Janice is a fantastic wedding planner. Upon our first meeting we told Janice our budget she immediately suggested that we don't hire her since her fee would use too much of our budget. My fiancé (now husband) were so impressed by her professionalism and sincerity that we reevaluated our budget and decided to hire her. Janice was such a god send throughout the entire planning process. Anytime we had a question regarding who we should hire, what we needed to get, and what proposal to accept she responded almost immediately. I'm a very type A, analytical type of person and having Janice around eased any stress I might have had during the entire wedding planning process. The day of she made sure that everything ran on time and was exactly as had dreamed it would be. She even made sure we got drinks and appetizers while we were taking photos! It’s dangerous to go alone, take Janice!
My husband and I hired Janice and Bellwether Events for the day-of coordination of our destination wedding in Edinburgh, Scotland. I can't recommend her services enough!
In starting the planning process, I quickly found myself in over my head. Local weddings are difficult enough, but adding an overseas factor made things even more complicated and stressful. However, after speaking with Janice I instantly felt better about putting things in her hands. She is incredibly thoughtful, extremely organized, and a consummate professional. She spotted and handled potential problems, helped us review contracts, worked out timelines with vendors, researched rehearsal dinner locations, and so much more! The wedding day was seamless and it was all thanks to Janice!

Janice was the absolute BEST!! She helped make sure everything ran seamlessly (which can't have been easy with a huge wedding party, including 7 children!). She met with me, and assured me everything was going well, coordinated with all my vendors, and even ran the rehearsal. I simply can't praise her highly enough. If there was one example that really shows how truly fantastic she is, it's this: the morning after my wedding, I woke up, and realized - OH NO - where the *** is my marriage license?! I remembered seeing it in the room where I got married, so I quickly got dressed and ran upstairs to check. Nope. Nothing. I freak out, until I call Janice - not only had she overseen the officiant signing the certificate, but she mailed out the copy that needed to be returned to the DC government, and carefully placed my copy in the bridal suite!!!! We hired Janice for our day of planner (although the service extends almost 8 weeks or longer prior to the actual wedding date!) after seeing her do such an incredible job at my older sister's wedding in the DC area a few years ago. Janice was so wonderful to work with, put our minds at ease throughout the entire process, and helped make our wedding day run so smoothly--and we had several unexpected incidents occur (my grandmother-in-law broke her hip during the reception, AND we forgot some car keys at the hotel) where she was instrumental in helping figure out solutions quickly.
We ended up meeting with her several times (we hired her for an additional meeting at a tasting), and she mentioned so many different things that we never would have remembered to think of, or handle prior to the wedding day! She also put together an incredibly helpful timeline, organized the wedding rehearsal in an efficient way, and gave us lots of advice, feedback, and thoughts regarding so many decisions, details, and vendors. We appreciated her input, responsiveness, and take-charge attitude, which is exactly what you want in a wedding planner. Couldn't recommend her services more!

Let me give you an example of Janice's passion and follow-through.
We hired Janice to help plan our entire wedding weekend: rehearsal dinner, wedding, and survivors brunch. After she got our save-the-dates in the mail for us, she dropped the extra save the dates off (as we requested) on our front porch. They weren't there when we arrived. We made a quick call to Janice to confirm where she'd placed them. Unfortunately, it became apparent that someone apparently snatched them off our front porch and we assumed they were gone for good. About six hours later, we had a knock at the door. It was Janice. She was there with her husband AND our leftover save the dates. They had gone looking for them in the dumpsters around our home in the neighborhood. She had figured out that there wasn't much of value in the box beyond extra stamps (which were missing) and that someone would have likely ditched them. She found them in a nearby alley.
We felt embarrassed that we had (a) not thought of that and (b) not cared enough to go out searching for them ourselves. But this demonstrated to us that Janice (a) thinks of everything and (b) wants your wedding to be as successful (or more!) than you do. Janice is an excellent planner, she helped us stay on budget, and she curated three amazing events for us and our families. We pulled off an event that many in our families was the best wedding they'd ever attended. We wholeheartedly recommend Janice for a wedding or anything else. You won't do any better.

As a professional meeting planner, I was initially only looking to have somebody help with day-of wedding services, figuring that I could do the rest myself (with the help of my mom). Was I wrong! Janice was unbelievably helpful in the months and weeks leading up to our wedding. My only regret is that we didn't hire her sooner. Not only does Janice have lots of great connections and recommendations in the industry, but she is also a pleasure to work with. She offers opinions when you want them but is extremely flexible and professional. Our actual wedding day went incredibly smoothly (and if it didn't, I didn't know about it because Janice handled it!). We hired Janice as the day-of coordinator for my daughter’s wedding, as well as for her help with wedding stationery and design & décor. She was FABULOUS!
I hadn’t realized at the beginning of the planning process how important it would be to have someone who knows the wedding business so well to advise and support us along the way. After all, my daughter and I are two super organized women, so how hard could it be to plan a wedding, right? Well Janice was terrific from the very start, providing us with a time table, referring us to trusted vendors (whom we loved!) when we didn’t know where to turn, and coming up with great, creative ideas for the look and feel of the event. I cannot emphasize enough how valuable it is to have a wedding planner as a guide, and Janice is the very best! She is so organized and quick to respond to emails, and has a great personality too. Janice’s help allowed us to relax in the final busy weeks before the wedding and enjoy this special time together.
And Janice’s assistance on the day of the wedding was crucial. We truly couldn’t have done it without her. She handled every big and little detail from setting up escort cards and favors to cueing the wedding party for their entrances to collecting the gifts to supplying emergency safety pins – and dozens of things we didn’t even realize she did – to make the evening go so beautifully. We were relaxed and enjoyed this very special night with family and friends due in large part to Janice’s expert help. She is a true professional and we highly recommend her.

Bellwether Events is the real deal, and we could not imagine our wedding without her. She was worth every single penny (and then some)!
Janice was super professional, yet still managed to make us feel special during the entire process. She enhanced our own vision with her ideas, which really added some great touches! At the same time, not once did we feel like the wedding wasn't "ours".

I wish it would let me give 10 STARS! After seeing what a phenomenal job Janice did as the day-of wedding planner for my sister's wedding in 2011, we didn't hesitate contacting Janice when we got engaged.
Janice and Bellwether Events helped us realize exactly what we wanted for our wedding and then made that dream come true! Janice supported our decision to get married at an outdoor chapel in Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, despite the fact that it was a fairly remote area two hours from DC. Within just days of picking our wedding date, Janice had already contacted and was vetting several local vendors.
Janice is a blast to work with and an utmost professional! She is unflappable, prompt, creative, and attentive to your wishes. When I started to feel stressed or overwhelmed with wedding planning, a quick call or text from Janice was all I needed to calm my nerves. She kept track of all the planning details in an elaborate timeline so we didn't have to be consumed by the nitty-gritty and could enjoy all the fun stuff. Because Janice kept us so organized along the way that we didn't have any last minute tasks left to do causing us stress right before the wedding- I just had to pick up my dress and get a mani/pedi the week before my wedding- it was fabulous!
I'm the girl who cuts coupons and only buys clothes on sale to save money, so I can relate to those of you who think you can plan your event on your own with out hiring a planner. Listen carefully! We initially didn't think we needed a planner, but once I started to research into it more, I decided it couldn't hurt to reach out to a few. I felt that Janice understood me the best from her first email. We explained our budget to her and she came up with a customized proposal that worked out perfect. She has relationships with vendors that help in multiple ways. She can leverage those relationships to get favorable quotes. We also had a particular style we were going for and she was right away able to suggest a florist that might work as well as provide photographer options. Janice is also very professional and it's clear she knows what she's doing. She does not hesitate to tell a vendor what is or isn't acceptable. I would never have thought to ask the caterer to go back and revisit their numbers. She's also always looking out for her clients. She notified us promptly about a promotion on a dance floor that she thought we might want to take advantage of. Of course we did!
I am sure I may have flooded Janice's inbox with emails (and I doubt I was the only bride guilty of this), but she always responded timely, whether it be advice on a design decision to etiquette, etc. Really - she's a great sounding board. And when you really have no idea what you want, her experience can really help you figure that out.
My husband even thanked Janice in his welcome speech for keeping me sane through the wedding planning process. The day of was perfect! I didn’t have to worry about anything as she ensured everything was set up and executed smoothly. I have no regrets on any of the decisions that we made. Our reception was beautiful and we threw a fantastic party – our primary objective! Can't recommend Janice more! -

Janice of Bellweather Events guided me through what turned out to be a fun planning process and helped us create a beautiful and memorable wedding that was uniquely our own.
We hired Janice for full wedding planning services and she guided us through every step of the way. We began with a fairly vague vision for our wedding, but she asked the right questions of both me and my fiance that allowed us to narrow in on details that fit us perfectly.
I was initially very nervous that the wedding planning process would be overwhelming and stressful, but Janice divided the steps into an easy to follow guide that was updated as we went. For the first big decision, which was the location, she was very patient and researched a long list of options that met the various aspects of our wish-list. She scheduled venue visits for us, navigated us to and through the venues, and listened to our continued feedback. Importantly, she also gave us tips and insights about issues with certain venues that only an experienced wedding planner would know.
All that said, the aspect of Janice's service that I appreciated the most was her willingness to listen to the requests, questions, and off-the-wall desires of my fiance. I suspect like many grooms, he was opposed to wedding traditions for the sake of traditions. My fiance never subscribed to the theory that a wedding day is the bride's day. So Janice had to balance my visions and requests with my fiance's additional opinions. She expertly balanced all of our input and created a day that was special and a reflection of the two of us as a couple.

Janice of Bellwether Events was a tremendous help in planning our wedding. From the very beginning, we wanted our ceremony to be at a private residence located down a narrow and steep dirt road and our reception at a nearby vineyard. Unlike other wedding planners we interviewed, Janice approached our event with a "can-do" attitude and told us that there were solutions to every problem we encounted (a tiny driveway to turn buses around in, no parking at the residence etc,) Janice was able to find creative solutions to logictical issues and deal with multiple personalities and vendors. Janice has a strong personality and people listen and respond to her, which is extremely important when coordinating a wedding. Whenever we had a question, we always received a quick response by phone or email. If you are looking for a professional planner who will set a realistic budget, provide great vendor reccomendations, handle tricky logistical situations and be your advocate on the big day, Bellwether Events is fantastic. -

We hired Bellwether Events as our "day-of coordinator", but they did much more than that! Janice and Rebecca were available via email or phone call months before my wedding, and very responsive. Despite Janice being unable to be there the day of my wedding, she was still very involved until the last possible minute. Since I lived out of town, we also planned a few Skype dates. Rebecca and Brett were at my wedding and they were fantastic! I did not have to worry about a thing. I honestly don't know how my wedding would have been possible without Bellwether. Rebecca made sure everything went like clockwork on the day of the wedding -- every event on our wedding day timeline (which Bellwether composed for us) was either early or on time! She was even at the rehearsal the day before the wedding. Not only are Janice and Rebecca great at their jobs, they are also wonderful people -- very pleasant, and have that calming/reassuring face you want to see on your hectic wedding day.
Despite the heavy costs of a wedding, do not gip on the wedding planner! I feel that Bellwether was the only wedding expense that was well worth its cost. Thank you Janice, Rebecca, and Brett for helping make my wedding one of the best days of my life! -

I realize that this may sound a bit like paid advertising, but given that our wedding was recently featured in both Style Me Pretty and the Washingtonian Bride &Groom magazine, I feel like I am pretty qualified to sing Janice Carnevale’s praises :)
More importantly than that, though, Janice truly gave us and our families the wedding of our dreams, which is why I feel like Bellwether Events is where every wedding in the DC metro area should find it’s beginning.
It’s difficult to describe all that Janice did for me during the wedding planning process. She is not only an exceptional wedding planner – she’s an exceptional person. Given that my significant other was deployed for much of the process, her advice and constant communication were not only incredibly helpful but so essential in allowing me to still enjoy the process. When I said that I wanted a wedding that was feminine and floral, while at the same time stately and patriotic – she helped me dive right in – helping incorporate so many unique and whimsical design elements that not only impressed our guests but helped to represent us in such a beautiful way. She even managed to coordinate an incredible bridal session on the historic U.S.S. Sequoia, President Kennedy’s old yacht.
Looking back, there are so many qualities in Janice that took the stress out of planning, and especially on the day of our wedding. Her design vision that represented us and our personalities so well; her business-saavy and negotiation; and her ability to problem-solve and manage potential crises at light-speed were indispensable.
If I were planning a wedding – whether in my parent’s backyard or a black-tie affair at a 5 star hotel (coincidentally our wedding fell somewhere in the middle) – I wouldn’t do it without Janice or her incredibly talented team at Bellwether Events. She is the best, and perhaps even more type A than I am.

We could not be happier that we hired Janice as our month-of coordinator for our wedding! Janice is extremely organized, responsive, and meticulous. Janice was always available when we had questions, and especially helpful in the weeks leading up to our wedding. On the day of the wedding we were able to relax because we trusted Janice and knew that she was on top of every detail. We highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a planner or coordinator, her expertise was invaluable to us! -

Janice is the best! We could not have imagined that everything would have turned out the way it did. Janice was able to visualize what we wanted and make it all come together. She is professional, creativity, thoughtful, and tons of fun to work with. She even made beautiful paper flowers by hand as a surprise for us. That was above and beyond anything we could have expected and really made us feel special. Our friends and family still tell us what an awesome time they had a our wedding and it would not have been that way if not for Janice and Bellwether Events!

We hired Janice to be a "Day of Coordinator" for our wedding but she did SO much more than what we were expecting. I looked in to several other day of coordinators and most of them really did only assist you on the wedding day. Janice met with us several times in the months leading up to the wedding, she answered a million questions via email and phone, provided excellent advice on everything from catering to decorations. Janice and her assistant, Rebecca, were there at the rehearsal the day before and hours before the wedding to help set up. Rebecca was even at the venue the day after the wedding to make sure that everything had been cleaned up and taken down. We definitely could not have done the wedding without Janice. She was extremely professional and dealt with family members in a tactful way. The event scheduler at our venue said that she wished that Janice was the coordinator for all of the weddings at the venue. I cannot say enough about how great Janice is as a wedding coordinator! -

Janice at Bellwether Events is a great wedding planner -- very professional and definitely an EXPERT at putting on an awesome wedding. There were so many things we hadn't thought about or accounted for that Janice helped us with. She is very flexible as well -- we had a non-traditional, offbeat wedding and she was all for it, helping to add some awesome, above & beyond creative touches. Her vendor recommendations are invaluable -- we loved everyone she helped link us up with. Janice had another event already on her calendar for our wedding day so Rebecca was our primary day-of coordinator (another helper, Sara, was also great). Rebecca was brought on board super early in the process so she was totally involved and familiar with everything. Rebecca did an outstanding job on the actual day -- we had some complicated pieces and everything ran PERFECTLY the whole night. Rebecca was professional, calm (super important), and anticipated everything. I know people always talk about how something will go wrong with your wedding, but that really didn't happen for us. We hired Janice as our "day of" wedding planner, but she offered her services for the month or two leading up to the wedding. She was consistently organized, reliable, responsive, and helpful, and she retained a great sense of humor throughout the process. She was not at all pretentious, which I'm guessing is unusual in a wedding planner, and her vendor recommendations were excellent. She was also flexible with some of our changing logistics, remaining calm and pleasant. On the day of the wedding, she worked tirelessly, and enabled my husband and me to feel like guests, rather than hosts, at our daughter's wedding. We were really able to enjoy the day, thanks to Janice's hard work! -

I chose Bellwether Events because Janice was all business upfront. On our first phone call she had a prepared set for questions she wanted answered, so there was no chit chat until the important details were covered. She kept the conversation on topic on what she could deliver and what could be expected of a wedding planner. She was also very virtually connected which was important me when working with someone across the country. On the wedding day all my bridesmaids were complimenting her straightforward delivery and thorough scheduling. Everything went absolutely perfectly with Janice sweating out the details. -

Janice was phenomenal to work with as our day of coordinator this summer! She was our best investment as she ensured that throughout the wedding weekend we could relax and just enjoy our special day. We hired Janice with the intention of having someone who was professional and knowledgeable about executing a large event such as our wedding. She was exactly what we wanted, and more. I thought I was type A and organized throughout our wedding planning process, but once Janice stepped in 2 months out she proved her worth by identifying things we had not even thought of, and she made sure everything came together seamlessly. We had a long and detailed Mass and she made sure that it was easy and beautiful from the processional to the recessional. Had we not hired her, I would have focused on the execution of the details and not enjoying the wedding. I would highly recommend Janice any day! -

Not only is she professional and gets the job done but she's very down to earth and personable which made the experience that much better! We hired Janice as our wedding planner for our backyard wedding in September 2009. Because of the logistics of having it at home we knew we could not do it alone. We were new to the area and didn't know where to start. Upon first meeting, Janice impressed not only me, but my husband (which is hard to do). She came prepared with photos, ideas, and also gave us a realistic view of what to expect with a 85 person at home wedding...did I mention with a 6 month planning time frame.
Janice spent the next 6 months helping us find professional/reliable vendors, shopping for flowers with me, getting permits for the tent, meeting with fire inspectors, and keeping us on track. The day of the wedding it rained all day. We were too cheap to spring for a walkway tent from the caters tent to the main tent so Janice personally escorted each of the servers to the tent so that the plates would not get wet (I tried to convince her that it was ok for the plates to get wet, but being the true perfectionist that she is she could not stand to see that happen). We had a blast and didn't even notice the rain, but we did notice Janice's dedication to making our day special. Hiring her was one of the best decisions we made. -

I would highly recommend Bellwether Events for any bride having their big day in the Washington, DC metropolitan area! Even though I'm from the area, I've been away for many years. I was living and married in New Zealand, when my husband and I decided to do another reception for my side of the family and friends back home. Janice was absolutely essential to planning this event, as what I envisioned seemed to change constantly from a full-fledged ceremony to a simple dinner party.
Janice was in constant communication (even though I was often hard to reach-even with a couple months abroad in a 3rd world country!) She was an endless fountain of ideas, had an extensive knowledge of vendors (vegan bakeries-yum!), and was able to work with my very slim budget. There was no limit to the dedication Janice provided me during the planning process, even with no arriving to the area until 9 days ahead of time! So, please, make her your top choice especially if DC is the site for your destination wedding!
My event was also the night after a record-breaking (and unexpected) snowstorm. Janice was able to find me alternative transportation in minutes. She had a complete game plan ready, having everything ready without a hitch. In fact, we ended up with TOO MUCH of everything, as many guests couldn't make it through the snow; but Janice magically did :) I am so thankful I worked with her, as I heard many horror stories of weddings happening that day with NO help from planners/vendors. Yikes!
Janice is a magician, an absolute fairy godmother. She will transform whatever vision you have into reality-plus so much more! -

Janice Carnevale from Bellweather was very easy to work with from day one; she's also got a great, highly competitive rate (since she is the boss and can be more flexible based on your needs and budget). I have a strong personality and am highly organized but she still taught me alot - she had such an amazing check list of not only what needed to be done, but choices to consider that I had never even thought of. She brought order to my wedding and noone even noticed; all they knew is that it was flawless. Janice was nurturing and comforting, but also strong enough to control personalities in a professional way. For example, me! One of the greatest gifts she gave me was explaining the reasons why I should reconsider my adamant decision not to have a videographer by asking why I made the choice and explaining to me why she was concerned that I would regret the decision. She finally convinced me to do it and I am forever in her debt because of that! -

Her professionalism, experience, flexibility, reliability and overall approach helped us in so many ways. I was impressed with how she handled so many different situations. Janice was great and a definite must-have when planning your wedding. She was most helpful in organizing the vendors and keeping contact with them from the beginning of planning through the end of the wedding night. This included keeping all of the details straight with each vendor, coordinating between vendors and the reception site, and making sure everything happened the way it was planned on the day of the wedding. She was also comfortable talking to the vendors to help with our last minute linen change and coordinating a special delivery time for the cake that worked for both the bakery and our reception site.
In addition, her years of experience definitely helped us through the planning process. As the first of our friends to get married, we had limited 'close-encounters' with wedding planning. She was a great person to bounce ideas back and forth with. As we were two consultants getting married, we analyzed a lot of options for each piece of the wedding. She was always able to point out the positives and negatives of each option and add valuable perspective based on her previous experiences. Janice was also always quick to respond when you had questions regardless of how small they were. Lastly, she was there to reassure us that we were on track and doing a good job or politely suggest we really needed to start working on those seating arrangements. :)
With so many friends and family in town for the event, it was great for us to be able to enjoy their company rather than make sure the vendors got their meals or the photographer got those 'must-have' shots. We'd highly recommend Janice to help relieve many of the stresses of planning a wedding! -

Janice was our "day of" wedding coordinator. Simply put, she did an amazing job. She was organized, welcoming, structured, amicable, professional and kept everyone happy. Janice took over planning one month before (it was really a little earlier than that but she was hired as a month of planner). Janice literally took over everything and brought up a lot of issues that had never occurred to me and ideas i would have never thought of and took care of everything to make sure i had my perfect wedding. I had the perfect wedding. NOTHING went wrong and if it did Janice took care of it before anyone noticed and never brought a problem to my attention so i could enjoy myself. She was cool, calm and collected which is what not only a bride needs but often the parents too. I have already referred a few of my friends getting married soon to Janice and they have all been happy. She timed everything out for my wedding to a tee and it ran PERFECTLY on schedule.
All in all she was everything that I wanted but didn't know I'd need for a wedding planner. I think my favorite thing about her was the fact that she'd bring ideas or suggestions to my attention and it was so obvious that her #1 priority was coordinating a great wedding for me and my husband. If I was to have another event and needed a coordinators service Janice would not only be my planner she'd be my first phone call.
Janice was wonderful and gave me my ideal wedding. She was honest to god the best money I spent throughout the wedding process, worth every penny and then some more. -

Smart. A sixth sense for weddings. Thoughtful. When I think of Janice Carnevale and Bellwether Events (www.bellwetherevents.com), these are some of the qualities that come to mind. Janice dramatically improved my wedding with her expertise and deft organizational and people skills. I was able to relax, have fun, and not worry about the details on my special day because I knew Janice was so competent.
Janice first impressed my groom, parents and me when we met with her months before the wedding. We explained how we were very concerned about the space for the ceremony and flow from ceremony to cocktail hour to celebration. Janice suggested that she come to the event location and take a look. Immediately upon seeing the space, she was able to come up with a better layout for the ceremony that the location staff agreed to. Her ability to visualize the flow in the room from ceremony to cocktail hour enhanced our wedding greatly. This was one my biggest concerns for the wedding and I was elated that a solution was found.
Additionally, our Rabbi could not come to the rehearsal since it was on a Saturday (during Shabbat). Janice volunteered to take over and lead the rehearsal. She organized the whole wedding party (over 20 people) with ease and laughter. We went through the wedding ceremony quickly two times and I know that the five-year-old flower girl and some that had never been in a Jewish wedding felt well assured after the rehearsal. Many of my bridesmaids and the parents of the groom remarked on what a great job she did and how impressed with her organizational talents they were.
Also, Janice was incredibly thoughtful. She knew that I wanted certain things and made sure that they happened. For example, I wanted organic wine and she made sure that I was served only organic wine. She also insured that everything (and I mean everything) ran smoothly on the wedding day.
I feel incredibly blessed to have had such a wonderful wedding. Janice Carnevale is truly talented at what she does and I wish that everyone could be as lucky as my groom (Andrew) and I and our families to have such a fantastic wedding planner. -

We hired Janice and Bellwether Events to coordinate/manage our wedding day which spanned two locations in Northern Virginia, and a schedule that required things to be smartly planned and executed. Janice was integral to making sure it all went off smoothly. To say she is "good" is a gross understatement. Janice is phenomenal. She was always responsive to us in a very timely manner, and provided us a peace of mind we would not have found otherwise. Knowing Janice was behind the scenes orchestrating everything allowed us to truly enjoy our wedding day and not feel like we needed to chase people around or make sure people and things were in the right place. Both of us like being in control and "running the show", so to find someone we trusted enough to take the reigns on our wedding day was a big deal, but after the first meeting with Janice we knew we liked her. She isn't going to coddle you and tell you every idea is "great! wonderful! that will be perfect" unless she really means it - she's straight forward and efficient, and is always up front and honest with her professional advice and my military background truly appreciated that. (After all, that's what you are paying her for!) Thank you so much for ensuring our special day was truly special. We still sing your praises to friends and family 5 months later, and I'm sure we will be 5 years from now. -

A complicated wedding ran smoothly
To put it lightly, my wedding was not an easy one to work. There were a lot of big personalities and a million curve balls. Poor Janice had to deal with so many last minute things being thrown at her. She had to deal with everything being done completely last minute. She had to deal with a family of very big personalities and a lot of opinions. She handled it all beautifully.
The wedding day itself went off completely smooth and it had about a million moving parts. As the bride I did not feel any stress at all and that is all a bride could ask for. Janice did a beautiful job handling all the curve balls that were thrown at her and this was not an easy wedding to plan. Literally the day of the wedding I ran up to her and told her "we need a 6 foot table next to an outlet for the late night food delivery...oh ya and we didn't pay them yet!" She just nodded and said she would handle it without making anyone feel any sort of stress.
Her team of assistants were also amazing and kind and lovely.
Needless to say Janice does NOT have an easy job and our wedding was far from simple. We are very grateful for Janice and how she helped make our wedding day run so smoothly. -

At first I didn't realize how valuable a wedding planner could be. My partner and I thought we could easily plan all our event details, but soon after picking a venue and caterer, we realized it was going to be a full time job that we weren't equipped for. We emailed Janice to inquire about working with her, and she wrote back within hours. From that time on we were amazed by her organization, respect for what we wanted, and ease at bringing our vision for the day to life.
Janice is extremely competent and effective. Working with her is like working with your most capable and badass friend. She's direct but kind and realistic, all the time keeping your desires in mind. She was so respectful of our budget and priorities, never making us feel like we had to do things that weren't important to us or within our budget. At the same time, she was helpful in getting us to understand some things just had to be done to host an event.
We can't recommend Janice enough. We would have hired her immediately after getting engaged if we could do it again. -

Janice is an excellent, excellent coordinator. We hired her to be our day-of coordinator based upon the recommendation of our caterer and we are extremely thankful that we did. With Janice, you are in the hands of a true professional. Janice is attentive and extremely responsive via email in the months prior to the wedding. She, too, helped us contract a wonderful florist, and got us in touch with an affordable uplighting outfit. As the wedding day approached, Janice did an great job of helping us navigate the maze of urgent responsibilities. She was an invaluable liaison between us and our vendors both before and during the wedding. In the meetings in the weeks prior to the wedding, Janice's attention to detail ensured that the day (as far as I know!) was flawless. She is meticulous and direct and knew to ask questions that I never even knew needed to be asked, both of myself and my husband and our vendors. We, along with our families, had an absolute ball at the wedding and I know that would never have happened if not for Janice's hard work. -

Janice, owner of Bellwether Events, is a straight-shooter. Her personality is very direct and she is quick to offer her thoughts and opinions when it comes to the logistical and sequential structure of a wedding ceremony & reception. With that being said, I was very pleased with the service Janice provided in the months and weeks leading up to my wedding ceremony and reception. Above all, I will credit Janice for being INVALUABLE on wedding day. She created a timeline depicting each minute of the day, she decorated fabulously and improvised when the inevitable wedding day mishaps occurred (including leaving 3 floral centerpieces at home). Janice is the true definition of a powerhouse business woman. She knows what she wants and how to get it.
My advice to brides choosing Janice as their event planner and/or day-of-coordinator would be not to let Janice’s ideas trump your own, but to also be open minded to the suggestions that she makes. She has worked many weddings at many venues and she has developed a knack for knowing whether an idea will transfer in a cohesive manner.
I can say with 100% certainty that my wedding reception would have fallen apart at the hands of our caterer had we not hired Janice Carnevale. She is the glue that held our vision together while my husband and I enjoyed the biggest party of our lives. Janice and her team at Bellwether Events is worth every penny! -

If you had told me when I first became engaged that I would be married in three months' time, and that photos from my wedding reception would be featured in a wedding magazine, I would not have believed it for a second!
I am a meeting planner by trade, so I knew that with such a short time to plan a wedding for 100 people, I needed someone with experience to make it happen. From the start, it was clear that Janice was willing to devote the time and effort to make this work. Even though I knew she had other clients, I never felt as if I was being neglected, and she often went the extra mile to help with tasks that I couldn't do alone because I didn't have a car. Poor Janice had to deal with my unique (some might say wacky) vision, but she tackled the challenge head-on. We had a good number of vendors to deal with, and very few were the usual wedding industry types. Janice kept track of expenses and timelines, always kept me in the loop, and gave good advice on prioritization. Not everything went as planned on the day of the event (working in a similar field, I can tell you that is ALWAYS the case), but Janice kept me level-headed on my wedding day and averted a catering crisis involving the wrong table linen color before I or any of the guests arrived.
I could not have pulled off such a fabulous wedding without Janice's help, and would recommend her services to anyone who values responsiveness, dedication, and a can-do attitude. -

I do some event planning for work, and was initially not interested in having a Day of Coordinator because I was sure that I was well organized and could handle everything myself, along with family and friends. I was having a pretty laid back wedding and trusted my vendors. However, as we got close to the wedding, I was dealing with buying a house, work craziness, and normal wedding nervousness, and just wanted someone else to pull together the detailed timeline, take over for the last few days, and handle things day of. Janice was perfect. She is extremely professional and organized, positive without being overly perky and annoying, and understood the vision and laid back nature that I wanted. She was also willing to flexible about pricing because of the location and simplicity of the wedding. I am sure that she would also work well for brides/weddings who have more complicated (or high maintenance) visions---and she strikes me as being excited about all kinds of weddings, and incredibly competent. I would very much recommend her for any type of event planning service. -

I would recommend Bellwether Events.
We hired Janice to do our "month of" coordination, which was a great relief.
She helped us identify potential problems in our contracts, identifying things I hadn't thought about when I first made them. For instance, in my contract with the band, I had written that the band was to play three, equally spaced sets with two breaks. Janice took one look and knew that different set lengths would align better with the catering schedule, so we adjusted accordingly. Similarly, she looked at our alcohol order and quantity of wine and indicated that we had waaaay too much alcohol for the number of guests. Sure enough, we came back with half the wine and a decent amount of returns for the liquor/beer. It became clear that she had a good "feel" for the business.
She ran an efficient operation. We met in person a couple times before the event to go over timelines, and met with family members and the officiant the day before to run through the ceremony. The day of, things went smoothly as she seemed to be well-prepared. While dancing, I ended up with a rip in my dress that affected the bustle. Janice had a safety pin right on her and fixed it in 2 minutes!
She has a bit of a rough, "no-nonsense" demeanor to her so I took off half a star for professionalism.
While Janice was great, she was a bit pricier than other wedding coordinators out there. Had I started the search for a coordinator sooner, perhaps I would have gotten one that was just as efficient but a little easier on the wallet!
I would recommend her.

Bellwether Events (Janice) was wonderful! I used her "month-of-coordination" service and found it really valuable. She provided her candid advice but at the same time she gave us the freedom and flexibility to make the event truly our own (while reminding us of lots of crucial details we would have forgotten otherwise). She is pretty relaxed during the process, which was helpful for us to keep our stress levels down, but on the day-of she really worked hard to make sure everything went super-smoothly. I loved her system of creating a working schedule document and communicating it to all of the vendors (and parents, wedding party, etc.) I really have no reservations and recommend Janice's services enthusiastically. -

Nice backyard wedding, very abrasive social media presence
[Original review from 2019:] Janice knows EVERYTHING you need to pull off a backyard wedding. She knows the ins and outs of generators, tents, tent floors, bathroom trailers, and all the subtle things that aren't necessarily sexy but which you NEED to pull off a functional event in your backyard. She is also very organized and has great leadership skills to get everyone in line to do what they are supposed to do. Our event was amazing and perfect largely thanks to Janice's organizational skills. Thank you, Janice!

Since our 2019 wedding, I have followed Janice's business account on social media. It is notable that she uses this *business* (not personal!) account to re-share snarky leftist political memes. I mostly agree with these, so I wasn't bothered -- until she argued that physiologically male people should be able to compete in women's sports purely based on self-identification. Some might see this opinion as woke; others might actually see it as a misogynistic step backwards for women's sports.
As a lifelong woman athlete, I have opinions about this issue, so I politely pushed back in a direct message. Janice rudely insinuated that I was "Republican" and stopped responding. In other words, she doesn't even have the intellectual seriousness to defend the opinions that she airs so freely online, nor the courtesy to disagree respectfully.
Next time, I think I will choose a vendor with a more professional social media presence.-

We had several instances where she chose not to listen to what we wanted or where she would say what we wanted wasn't good enough. She was crude to my husband and I an to potential vendors.
She put our personal business out to vendors. I had several vendors call and say they would not work with her because she was rude. I had vendors I recommended called names and said they were not suited to do the job.
I would not recommend and we almost fired her twice, we are looking into legalities for things she did not contracually do. -

I am the mother of the bride and I believe Janice from Bellwether accomplished two things: she made referrals to some great vendors (Well Dunn catering, and Abby Lindsey at Kir Tuben photography, in particular) and “designed” a beautiful reception based mainly on photos my daughter provided, not on Janice’s own creativity. Otherwise, she was extremely difficult to work with. She didn’t stick to the generous budget she agreed to, so the bride and groom kept having to reign her in, she didn’t answer their questions in a timely or satisfactory manner throughout the process, leading to months of unnecessary stress. We hired a planner to prevent stress for this couple who work in challenging public service positions, not to add another unreliable person for them to manage. In my one dealing with Janice, regarding hotel rooms for the immediate family of the bride, she was terse and minimally helpful. We considered firing her midway through the planning, but her contract required that we cite specific items she didn’t attend to and that was hard to pin down since she flaked on so many things. When the couple then sent her a list of all the things they expected going forward, she took a little money off her fee and cooperated for a couple of weeks, then went back to her haphazard ways. She neglected to put the task of “get wedding rings” on the to-do list. She neglected to order all parts of the rental bar. She ordered the wrong sized tables. She snapped at the bride during the venue walk-through! At the last minute, she said the bride and groom had to go through an involved process with the city of DC to secure parking for vendors and when the couple told her that she should have 1) handled it herself, and 2) put the permit costs in the budget, she decided the parking permits weren’t necessary after all (sorry vendors!). And so much more! We considered firing her a second time, but we worried that action would affect service from the vendors she has relationships with and we didn’t want to risk that. Thankfully, Janice was not available for the wedding day and sent her associate/partner Courtney, who was kind and mostly competent, though she had to be prodded to advocate for the bride when the wrong bouquet flowers arrived, she felt the need to tell the bride about a reception issue immediately after the wedding, when it could have waited for the next day or been shared with me, and she neglected to remove all the alcohol from the premises as required by the venue, despite the bride reminding her to do so. The other assistant on the wedding day wouldn’t allow friends to carry the veil during outdoor photos so it dragged through debris, then she had to roll the dirt and leaves off with a tiny lint roller, which was all Bellwether brought despite the contract promising an “extensive” emergency kit. In closing, Courtney was nice. I would never recommend hiring this company.
