I can’t recommend BeFitted enough! From the first appointment they were so respectful and patient, I never felt rushed or unheard at my appointments. The dress fit like a glove and was the perfect length and the bustle was not too complicated. I made over an hour drive for them and it was WORTH IT!! Whether you have a small or large alteration job, the ladies at BeFitted will take care of you!! -

The ladies at BeFitted are incredible knowledgeable and professional and had my rather complicated dress fitted, hemmed, and bustled to perfection. They were so helpful in answering questions, taking feedback, and getting my dress finished in time for the big day. Their tailoring style depends a little to much on flawless boob tape execution (which I never quite mastered, even for the big day) but I can't argue with the results. They also offer dress cleaning and preservation after-the-fact which I will be taking advantage of. -

The best of the best and a one-stop shop - alterations, pressing, and cleaning/box
Absolutely the best and they live up to the lovely experience people have described. I'm detail oriented and have a real appreciation for the craftsmanship of the work they do - my very complicated wedding gown came out PERFECT. I did their pressing service which made the actual day a piece of cake. Appreciated the bustle notes and packing tips as well. They also did an amazing job with cleaning after (I def spilled food all over my train, yikes) and it came back flawless with the boxing and preservation. I'm so glad I found them! -

I had a great experience at BeFitted! We eloped and then had our reception three weeks later, and I wanted to have my dress cleaned in between. This was such a tight turnaround AND Thanksgiving was in the middle of all of this, but Michelle and Diane made it happen with time to spare! I really appreciated how stress-free they made the alterations and fitting process. -

I am so thankful for Diane and Michelle! I was so happy to find this women and BIPOC-owned shop in Old Town Alexandria and they were both so kind, thoughtful, and skilled to work with. I had three dress fitting appointments for my wedding separates in which they added a bustle and cups, and adjusted length and size. They VERY kindly did rush alterations for me in the week before my wedding when I needed last-minute adjustments. I am SO grateful for their help and kindness which kept me feeling secure, beautiful, and confident to dance all night long on my wedding day! Thank you both for your beautiful and skilled craftmanship! -

This could not have been a better experience. I had a crazy timeline (due to family circumstances, I had to dramatically shorten my wedding timeline, and come back home to Alexandria from New Zealand a week before the new wedding date). I had my dress tailored in New Zealand and unfortunately when they took in the hips they left it bunched and did not take out the extra fabric, just sewed it in. Be Fitted was wonderful in assessing what they would be able to do in a short time, and got it done in just a couple of days and it looked SO much better. I also paid for the steaming/prep service which revived my dress from its travel as carry-on all the way from New Zealand. I dropped my dress off after my wedding for cleaning & preservation because I know they'll do a great job with it too.
Cannot thank them enough for helping my dress fit fantastic. Very fair prices and absolutely worth it -

Thank you for the beautiful job on my wedding dress. I fell in love with a dress with this funky boning that did not work for me and BeFitted Tailoring did an amazing job taking it in so that it would actually fit my torso. They had some very helpful recommendations including how to travel with the dress to San Diego, how to choose the best undergarments, and how to make use of double sided tape. I am so grateful that the dress still fit over a year and a half later when I actually got married (after multiple COVID postponements). Thank you Michelle and Diane! -

My wedding was postponed for 9 months (thanks COVID!) and therefore my dress that had previously fit like a gem didn't so much anymore. Four weeks out from the wedding I went to BeFitted and these ladies worked magic!!! Not only did they take out my dress, but they offered advice to life my *girls* so they looked their best in my dress! They also fixed my bustle as it was done poorly at my last fitting appointment by another company. Also, their studio is SO CUTE!! Hire them for sure!!!! -

Michelle and Diane were a dream to work with. They are super friendly, professional, and extremely organized. They answered my questions before I was able to ask them! My dress was a lot bigger than I thought it was (yay tulle!) but Diane was able to bustle it beautifully and Michelle gave me a diagram to help when I have to do it on the day. I am so happy I found Befitted Tailoring co.!! -

I had such a great experience with Michelle and Diane at BeFitted! They are such a friendly and skilled mother-daughter team! At the wedding my dress fit perfectly!! I loved my dress all along but was slightly hesitant before tailoring it about the way it would look on me. After working with BeFitted, I was amazed at how perfectly it fit me and how much more comfortable I was wearing it! Michelle and Diane are so good at what they do and gave great advice. They are super kind and responsive and had very fair rates. They made the experience special and way less nerve-wracking! Also, they were very considerate, professional and flexible as changes arose due to the coronavirus. -

These are THE nicest people ever! But also they do amazing work! I loved my dress when I went in to get it fitted and honestly didn’t think I could have loved it anymore but when I went in to try it on after they had finished WOW! Also I am the only bride I know of in the past few weddings I’ve been to who didn’t have a bustle malfunction halfway through the reception!! Seriously cannot recommend this place enough! -

I ended up being a pandemic bride. I purchased my dress in Oct 2019 and from March until June, our wedding (9/12/2020) was completely up in the air. We decided mid-June to push forward and while managing all the other details, a dress fitting was not high on my list since my dress fit *mostly* perfectly. It was mid-July when I finally requested an appointment with Michelle & Diane - the first weekend of August (because I was like, "eh it is fine"). Michelle reached out to me almost immediately after I scheduled and recommended that I move my appointment sooner. After our exchanges via email I could feel their warmth and was so excited to work with them... and CAN I JUST SAY that everything about their shop, their policies, and their personalities are amazing! 1. they were efficient - I was in and out in maybe 20 minutes but never felt rushed. 2. they were both incredibly sweet and professional 3. they were completely honest with me RE: my dress was entirely tulle and while it wouldn't be impossible to bustle, it would not be ideal on the day of (very delicate, take a long time, etc)... Which is absolutely fine, because I entertained the thought of a second dress anyway. I just really appreciate that they were honest with me. I got my second dress, brought it for a few adjustments, picked up my dresses a week before the wedding... and everything was absolutely perfect. I've already recommended them to someone else and for all wedding/formalwear, they are my #1 choice and recommendation! -

I originally made my dress appointment in April 2020 for my wedding early September 2020. With COVID-19, the appointment had to be postponed due to stay-at-home orders. First, it was in June and then could be adjusted to end of May. Diane and Michelle were very open in communicating appointment changes and new safety protocols in the studio. I was not moving my wedding date and them making my dress work in the allotted time was of no concern. My first appointment was wonderful and we talked through options for my dress. My second appointment went so well with on-the-spot adjustments that I ended up being able to take my dress home that day! I would highly recommend Befitted for any bride in the DMV area. My experience was easy, fun, and enjoyable. -

Diane and Michelle are both wonderful to work with! My initial fitting was in February 2020 and I immediately fell in love with their space upon walking in. The whole appointment was quick and easy. I tried on my dress, explained what I thought it needed and they made some excellent suggestions as well. Both of them were helpful, super friendly and made the experience special. Once the COVID-19 pandemic began they were quick to send out an email addressing the situation and asking for any changes to wedding plans. I ended up postponing mine so we pushed back the appointment date for the second fitting. The entire process was very easy. I went in for my second and final fitting in June and felt comfortable with the precautions they had in place. Plus, the dress alterations were perfect. I only needed it shortened (which was no small feat considering the amount of layers my dress has) and for the straps to be shortened. I'm very happy with the experience and the result. I can't wait to wear my dress next year once the situation is more stable! -

After a nightmare experience trying (and failing) to coordinate alterations for my dress through the atelier where I purchased it, I asked my coordinator for referrals and I'm SO happy things worked out and I ended up taking my dress to Befitted. These women are amazing, and they made every step of the process so easy and seamless. Will also say I give them huge props for how they integrate different tech platforms (payment, scheduling, etc) to make every step of the process so easy. I've never seen two people work so quickly! They did a huge amount of work to my dress and transformed it into absolutely the perfect fit. Can't thank them enough!! -

Best Wedding Dress Alterations!
I don't know what I would have done without Michelle & Diane! They are amazing, talented, professional, loving and super friendly. I had doubts about my dress alterations since I had illusion sleeves and they kept me calm throughout the process ensuring me that they would do whatever they had to to make it work. They made the dress fit absolutely perfect and it was better than I could have imagined. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. -

These two women are FABULOUS!! They were complete saviors for me when it came to altering my dress. I found them online and saw all the positive reviews—contacted them ASAP but didn’t realize they usually like to see you at least 4 months before your wedding date. Due to unforeseen circumstances that occurred in my life, Diane and Michelle were the sweetest of people to “fit” me in. They are both exceptionally good at what they do and greet you like they’ve known you forever! I definitely put them through the ringer with my dress and it’s size, but they made my dream come true even the ungodly amount of hand-sewn buttons were added to my train which, at the time, I was willing to do without due to the time crunch! They insisted it was a must and I’m telling you, these are the women to go to!!! Professional, friendly, talented and unforgettable! Thank you!!! -

Diane and Michelle are amazing! They treated me like family - and made me feel absolutely beautiful in my dress. Their process is clear, organized and easy. They spent extra time to make sure I felt comfortable, welcomed my mom to attend fittings and learn how to bustle, etc. and truly made me feel like a princess. I loved my experience with Befitted Tailoring! They were so friendly and made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole process. I bought a used wedding dress and they were able to redo the bustle so it was easier to manage and hem the dress. There were a ton of layers to my dress and the hemming was beautifully done on all the layers. During one of the fittings I wasn’t feeling 100% because it wasn’t very supportive in the chest area. I’m a large C, small D and I couldn’t wear a bra with the dress. Even with cups sewed in, I still felt a little loose. That’s when Michelle introduced me to Brassy Bra and even helped me put it on! Taking the extra care to ensure that I was going to be super comfortable on my wedding day meant a lot. They were both very professional but also super loving and you can tell that they care about their customers and the job they do. I would HIGHLY recommend their services. -

I had bought a wedding dress five years ago before my engagement fell through and I loved it so much that I kept it, hoping one day I'd wear it. Well, the day came and the dress was a couple of sizes too big! Knowing it was going to take a skilled tailor to fix, I researched the best tailor in the Northern Virginia area and BeFitted Tailoring came up as number one. After working with them, I can see why!
The mother/daughter team are not only incredibly warm, compassionate, and professional, they also make you feel like you're the only bride they are working with, as they only take one appointment at a time in their boutique. This is in addition to the incredible talent it took to make my dress fit perfectly, which was no easy feat.
While a bit pricey, the cost is well worth it as the end result is a couture fit that is so incredibly flattering you're wondering where else you can wear your wedding dress when the day is over :) I highly recommend them! -

The easiest part of the wedding!
Getting my dress altered at BeFitted Co was seriously one of the easiest parts in preparing for my wedding! BeFitted Co was a preferred alterations shop from where I bought my dress and it’s so easy to see why. Michelle and Diane are a mother/daughter duo who run the cutest alterations boutique in Alexandria. They see customers by appointment only, one at a time, which makes your session so personalized. And that’s exactly what you need with something so detailed as making alterations to a wedding gown. Diane expertly pinned and tucked my dress with ease and Michelle was an expert in next steps and made me feel so comfortable. The price was reasonable, and my dress was done on time. What more could you ask for? They were so encouraging and sweet, such a great experience! -

I took my dress to get fitted 2 months before my big day and the team at BeFitted took amazing care of me. I needed to get the dress let out at my ribs, the shoulders pulled up, cups sewn in, and a bustle attached to my dress. My family lives in NJ and my bridesmaids that lived in town weren't able to come with me, so I was very nervous to go alone. Diane and Michelle made me feel like part of the family and assured me all of my alterations would be done on time and WELL! The shop is appointment only and you are the only bride in there at one time. This was nice because I received 1:1 attention each time. My dress came out beautifully and I felt confident and COMFORTABLE on my big day! If you are in the Alexandria area, I recommend you book an appointment at BeFitted. -

I cannot stop recommending BeFitted to anyone who asks! Diane and Michelle are not only talented and professional, but also such a joy to work with! I was nervous about alterations as I had a very simple fit and flare dress that needed to fit like a glove, and it also needed to be sized down pretty significantly. While alterations were not cheap, I felt completely confident throughout the process that they were going to be perfect and that piece of mind was worth every penny.
I had 3 fittings starting about 4 months before the wedding and felt so supported throughout the whole process. I loved how transparent and communicative Michelle and Diane were, scheduling all my appointments in advance, answering all of my questions, talking me through each and every step of the alterations, and providing me with tons of info when I finally took my dress home. It was honestly one of the least stressful parts of wedding planning as these two ladies were so on top if it!
The best thing about BeFitted is that Diane and Michelle were always willing to give both their professional AND personal opinion. There were so many decisions to make around alterations it really helped feeling like I had a friend in the room telling me what they thought would look the best, rather than someone who was trying to make as much money as possible off me or just rush me out the door.
The only negative thing I have to say is that I was very concerned about my bustle breaking and the train being a pain all night... so much so that I really considered removing the train to my dress. Although I was assured the bustle was very strong and reinforced, it broke less than 10 minutes into cocktail hour and was in fact a pain all night. I wish I had just followed my heart and cut off the train, or had a "backup" bustle option added in case the bustle failed (e.g. wrist loop).

Super friendly and super talented
Michelle and Diane are absolutely fantastic! I bought my dress in another state (where my Grandmom and parents live) but couldn't get alterations done at the store, and was in a complete panic trying to figure out what to do. I was SO glad I found BeFitted! Michelle walked me through every step of the process and no matter the "crazy bride" question I had, she was able to answer and made me feel so comfortable! On top of being really nice people, my dress turned out fantastic! I ordered extra beading from my designer to get added to the train, and even though it was a big job they made it look easy. I loved my dress and it fit perfectly for my wedding! -

The ladies at BeFitted were very nice to work with. They came very highly recommended, which is why I chose to drive 90 minutes from my hometown for them to work on my dress. They worked very hard to make my visions a reality and even altered a pair of Spanx so that they could work underneath my open-back dress. They also added a jeweled belt to my dress with truly made it come together. It was beautiful!
But due to a couple little issues that came up after my final fitting, I had to take a couple stars off my review. First, when I brought my dress home roughly 2 weeks before my wedding, I took it out of the bag and noticed one of the shoulder seams was coming undone. In their defense, normally I would've contacted the shop and I'm sure they would've taken care of it. But in my case, I was traveling 90 mins one way for each of my fittings and could not budget in another 4+ hour trip for them to correct it. Luckily I managed to fix it myself.
Also, at my last and final fitting, I only then noticed that the strap of the Spanx we worked so hard to get to work under the dress was visible. I'm sure it had been visible in other fittings, but neither of the ladies had mentioned anything to me. When I brought it up at my last fitting, their answer was to use double sided fashion tape (which was their answer to a couple minor things I took issue with- "just tape it"). I did a dry run with a friend at home- No amount of tape was holding a bra strap in place all day. So sadly the Spanx that I spend money on for their to alter additionally went unworn the day of. I was VERY concerned about this because like all women, I have body insecurities, but I went without any shapewear on the day of. And to be honest, I think everything looked fine. Just bummed to have spent the time and money for nothing.
Thirdly, my dress had a very small train and I asked for a bustle to be put in so that people wouldn't step on my dress on the back floor. Unfortunately, the bustle came undone I don't know how many time during the day that I ended up just holding my dress most of the night. Nothing terrible; just annoying.
Finally, I did have a wardrobe malfunction. Which is a little ironic, because as they were sewing in the hook to the back on my dress that held it all together, they promised they never had a wardrobe malfunction. But sadly, the hook failed halfway through my reception. Thankfully my photographer had safety pins and we were able to pin me together and I didn't have to leave my reception early due to being half naked. Overall, they were very sweet and professional and did a lovely job on my dress and I can't complain with the overall look on they day of. Just a few too many annoyances to give them a full 5 star rating. -

Do not take your dress here. They are careless and expensive. I was rushed to make an appointment early because of the pandemic and they didn't know how long they were going to be open or how long it was going to take to make alterations.
I was rushed during the appointment because they had overbooked clients and had multiple brides in the salon at the same time. I barely had time to put the dress on before I was rushed to give you my credit card. The time spent analyzing the dress was not sufficient and the seamstress was moving too fast and was not listening to what I wanted to do with the dress.
I was told that the things that I wanted were included in the quote and they were not. Making the price I ended up paying for the alterations even more insanely high.
I ended up taking my gown to another seamstress, she took impeccable care of the dress and charged half the price. She said that the BeFitted Tailoring team did a terrible job taking care of the dress, there were snags in the dress from pins and needles, the cuts in the gown were sloppy and not consistent, the seams in the dress were done over the boning and not properly completed. You can see where the seamstress sewed the bra cups into the dress through the front of the dress because the job was done too quickly. There was puckering happening with the fabric because the fabric was not matched up properly when they sewed the dress back together.
I brought up multiple concerns during my fitting and I was told that they would be addressed at my final fitting before the wedding or that they were not issues. Which I now know were lies and ways to just rush me out of the shop. They refused to listen to my requests to fix the dress and were reckless with my designer gown. I would never recommend another bride take her dress here, you will regret it. -
