Cake for people who say they don't like cake
Baked and Wired provided a delicious cake for our wedding, inspiring guests who don't even like cake to compliment us on it. B&W also provided diet accommodations for our vegan and gluten-free guests with equally as delicious cupcakes. Cake was delicious and cost-friendly. We look forward to celebrating future anniversaries with their cupcakes! -

We're huge fans of B&W and we were excited to get our wedding cake from there. We are so happy did! It was beautiful in an understated, classic way, and more importantly, it was DELICIOUS! We've had several guests tell us it was the best wedding cake they've ever had--we got the lemon cake with raspberry filling and lemon buttercream. We ordered the 2-tier cake and had a friend pick it up for us the day of the wedding without any problems. Our florist added fresh flowers to the top and between the two tiers -- it looked and tasted better than we'd imagined it would! Service was great too, they made it super easy to arrange everything. Overall extremely pleased! -

We were THRILLED when we discovered that Baked and Wired made cake versions of their cupcakes. We were on the hunt for a wedding cake that didn’t cost and arm and a leg and this provided a great opportunity to make our cake table really personal. We ended up having one two-tiered cake in strawberry and buttercream (our favorite flavor) and four 11-inch cakes in other flavors. Our guests loved them! Rave reviews! I only wish we had had time ourselves to take a bite of each one!
(Note: Baked and Wired doesn’t deliver, so you’ll have to organize a pick up. And their decorations are minimal. But that let us add our own topper and other decorations at a big cost savings!) -

I went to a few wedding cake tastings, but nothing compared to cupcakes I've had at Baked and Wired, my favorite bakery in DC. So I decided to give up on wedding cake and order wedding cupcakes from Baked and Wired. Ordering was easy. I ordered 4 different flavors of cupcakes plus a small cutting cake. They don't deliver, but my venue was nearby, so it wasn't too much of hassle. My dad stopped by the bakery the morning of my wedding to pick them up. Everything was nicely boxed up, and they boxed up the vegan cupcakes separately for my vegan guests. I'm so happy I decided to forgo traditional wedding cake for Baked and Wired. Their cupcakes are expensive, but still cheaper than wedding cake. You can't go wrong with them! -

The cupcakes were GORGEOUS and delicious for our wedding. Ordering was a breeze and although they don't deliver, it was easy to pick up day of and bring to the venue. They looked beautiful and everyone was gushing about how delicious they were. Much better choice than traditional wedding cake - I was able to choose 7 flavors when ordering 7 dozen! Still have a couple extra and planning to enjoy them on the honeymoon :) -

Baked and Wired continues to be the reigning champion of cupcakes in the DC area. We love their cupcakes and wanted them at our wedding. For years, my mother joked that she wanted to walk in there and ask for one of each. So, we made it happen. They were very nice and boxed them up just the way we wanted. Next time, we will save them some headache and call ahead first. -

Delicious cakes! We got four -- lemon cake with lemon buttercream and raspberry filling, vanilla cake with dulce de leche filling and hazelnut chocolate satin icing, red velvet cake with cream cheese icing, and chai cake with espresso buttercream. The only problem was that they were so tasty that we had none left of the first two flavors to take home!
Baked and Wired was very easy to work with. They even made us cakes from cupcake flavors that were not listed in their cake selections. We were also able to pick up a gluten free cupcake for a guest with celiac disease! -

We used Baked and Wired for our wedding cake and cupcakes...everything was amazing! We served cupcakes to our guests as a late-night snack, and our cake was very simple but elegant. Everyone raved about the cupcakes and our cake was great - just enough to cut and save for our anniversary but without spending a fortune on something huge. -

After a bit of a wedding cake disaster, we had to come of with a different plan. We were having a very small wedding in DC, and our cake was destroyed on the drive up there. I called Baked and Wired, and was able to order some cupcakes for the even instead. They were delicious, beautiful, and everyone raved about them!! From a disaster to perfection! And they even helped me find a way to get the cupcakes from the bakery to the venue without having to do the transport myself. -

What else can I say about Baked and Wired, other than the cakes are FANTASTIC. We had a great experience working with them for our reception, and I would definitely recommend them as a vendor. We ordered both cupcakes and a small cake for cutting; both were great. -

Baked and Wired is our favorite bakery and an easy decision for our wedding cupcakes. We can not say enough amazing things about our baked and wired cupcakes! We had 180 strawberry cupcakes for our reception and they looked and tasted amazing! We ordered about a week before and they were ready to go for our courier on our wedding day. -

We had a wonderful experience serving Baked and Wired cupcakes at our recent wedding! The folks at B&W were very nice and quick to respond to emails, and they were very pleasant despite the many, many questions we had about the size/style of the cupcakes. Their $10 delivery charge made this a total steal and it was wonderful not to have to worry about how we were transporting the cupcakes from Georgetown to Bethesda. As our favorite cupcake place, it definitely didn't disappoint, taste-wise; people couldn't get enough them, and kept going back for more! If you purchase 100 or more cupcakes, you're allowed to use a 3/4 cupcake size that is less expensive and also a more reasonable size for an event like this, which was perfect for us. We'd recommend them for any special event! -

I opted for cupcakes for my wedding reception. I had heard about and tasted Baked and Wired's cupcakes several years ago at another friend's wedding. When my husband and I were reviewing and tasting options recently, Baked and Wired's cupcakes won with NO CONTEST!
The store does not provide tastings, as other companies might, but you can just walk into their Georgetown location and buy and sample whatever flavors you'd like to try. The advantage to that is there is no special "show" that the company is putting on for you--you get to taste what their baked good truly taste like in a real environment.
I placed my phone order over the phone through the kitchen with Tim, who was also incredibly kind and helpful. They made the delivery to my reception venue without any incidents and the rest was history. My guests RAVED about Baked and Wired's cupcakes (particularly their "Pretty Bitchin'" flavor which is chocolate cake on bottom with a peanut butter frosting; but the Smurfette's were also housed!). We ended up ordering the 3/4 size cupcakes, which are still plenty big and a good value for their quality.
I'm so glad that we went with this vendor and I would highly recommend them again. -

Baked & Wired is one of my favorite bakeries for cupcakes and other little baked treats in DC. I am a recreational baker and can say that I have had a fair amount of mediocre wedding cake over the years, so when I had Baked & Wired’s cake at a friend’s wedding reception, I was impressed with its rich flavor and knew that I wanted to have their cake at our wedding. Baked & Wired does not offer tastings, but many of their cupcakes mirror their cake flavors, so we went to the store and bought cupcakes in the flavors we thought we might like for a cake and chose among them. Although everything is delicious at Baked & Wired, we chose carrot cake and dirty chai as our cake flavors. The ordering process was very simple, and the price reasonable. They do not offer a lot in decoration, and you do need to have someone pick up the cakes; our wedding coordinator was able to pick them up on the day of the wedding. We added a cake topper and votives to the cake table, which looked nice, although if I were to do it again, I would ask our florist to add flowers to the cakes for additional decoration. We didn’t get any of the carrot cake at the reception, but the dirty chai was FABULOUS, and we heard excellent reviews of both cakes from our guests. The cake was moist and flavorful, with rich buttercream frosting. I would absolutely recommend Baked & Wired for wedding cake. -

With cake prices reaching $10 a serving in DC, cupcakes were preferable for every reason we could think of. Three flavors, cheaper than actual cake, and delivered. Loved it! So did our guests! -

If you're looking for a simple and delicious wedding cake, Baked & Wired is perfect! Their standard wedding cake is an 11 inch cake with a 7in tier. They have so many flavors to choose from that are all incredible. They answered all of my questions quickly and were easy to order from. They do not deliver, but our venue is close to the bakery, so that isn't a problem for us. -

Man, their desserts are delicious! We ordered an assortment of cupcakes, bars, and cookies as well as a small cake for the cake cutting portion. The desserts were fantastic, and Baked and Wired accommodated our request to cut the bars smaller so our guests would be able to try multiple desserts.
They were a big hit! I would suggest the OMG bars which flew off our dessert table. We had a chocolate cake with white icing for the cutting and they put adorable little pearls along the perimeter. It was beautiful!
Con would be that they are a bit hard to get ahold of, and don't have a wedding specialist which was a challenge. -

Best cakes in DC without a doubt! We had found all of the cakes at the typical wedding places far too sweet. We had always loved Baked & Wired cupcakes and decided to do 3 cakes on cake stands of varying heights instead of a tiered cake. Our guests loved it!
2 things to keep in mind and reason for the half star deduction - (1) they do not deliver so your planner (or someone) will need to go get it and (2) they do not do consultations like a wedding cake place. My husband and I printed out the cake flavors from the website and went in on a quiet week day afternoon. We ordered a couple cupcakes that were comparable to the cakes we were interested in getting and then asked for the manager if we had any questions. You have to call their separate special orders number in order to order. We got carrot cake, lemon cake with lemon frosting and raspberries, and chocolate with vanilla frosting. They were all delicious! -

I got a series of small wedding cakes from Baked and Wired. They didn't have very many design options, were a little brusk on the phone, didn't do free tastings, and you had to pick it up directly from the store, but several guests said it was the best wedding cake they ever had! And it was cheaper than any of the wedding-specific bakeries I found in the DC area, so I'd recommend it. -

DELICIOUS cupcakes for my wedding day. Sometimes a bit difficult to get ahold of when you call them, but they always return your calls if you leave a message. Yes, the cupcakes are a bit on the pricey side compared to other DC cupcake vendors, and may not be the most picturesque, but MAN are they moist and delicious. The flavors are also very unique, which we loved. The guests raved about them. Very flexible in terms of the specific numbers of each type of cupcake you'd want -- you don't have to go by the dozen. It would also have been nice if they were able to separate the cupcakes by type, so that the wait staff could tell them apart and label them correspondingly on the day of, but oh well. Thanks for the delicious wedding-cake alternative!! -

We ordered a cake from Baked and Wired for our small wedding this past month. While our cake request was simple--plain design with delicious interior--it's sometimes hard for places to meet these requirements. Baked & Wired met our request and provided a delicious cake that our guests loved! Even the guests who are extremely picky enjoyed the strawberry cake as well as the top tier of chocolate with espresso filling. Well done, Baked & Wired. Now we not only love your cupcakes but also your cakes. The only suggestion we'd make for the future would be to incorporate some kind of delivery service. Thank you! -

I <3 Baked and Wired, I knew I wanted to serve a delicious cake because I love cake. It was definitely expensive, given that cake was included in my hotel's package and I went and got it somewhere else, but I was happy with the cake. We had a few different cakes, too, which was great - funfetti with vanilla buttercream, vanilla with chocolate buttercream, chocolate with chocolate buttercream, and red velvet with cream cheese frosting. Obviously their main business isn't weddings and I was *very* familiar with their cupcakes already, so I just called in and whoever answered the phone took my order. Took a bit to make sure we had everything, but I would totally do it again. -

Alas, B&W screwed up my wedding cake BIG TIME. 15 minutes before our arranged pick-up time, a stranger walked into Baked and Wired and picked up my three cakes. B&W did not ask that individual for identification or proof of purchase - they simply handed my cakes over to a stranger (who scribbled an illegible signature that in no way resembled my name). Needless to say, this was not something I needed on my wedding day.
Making matters worse, B&W initially accused us of being responsible - "did you post on social media that you were getting your cake today?" (um, no, who posts "cant wait to pick up my cake at 2 pm today from baked and wired?"), "do you have any frenemies?," "are you SURE no one else picked it up?" (yes, my sister and her 4-year-old daughter had been looking forward to picking up the cakes ever since my niece saw Calliou pick one up on TV). Some interactions with B&W staff were pleasant and others were downright nasty (one individual actually hung up on my wedding coordinator). Fortunately, the baker was very kind and understanding. She baked three new cakes and delivered them herself to our venue at 9pm and they were truly delicious and beautiful (kudos to her), so it all worked out in the end.
I wrote B&W after the fact to say I was surprised that they didn't write to apologize and to suggest they update their policy to at least ask for identification upon pick-up......needless to say, they have not responded (otherwise I might have spared them this negative review). I'm sure they will respond here now though - now that their poor performance and unresponsiveness might actually affect future business. I could have forgiven them if they had simply acknowledged their error and its effect (stress!), but I can't forgive someone who hasn't asked for forgiveness. -
