Michael is so talented and created! He made my bridal shower and wedding cake and both were amazing. I was specific about wanting him to do both because there were so many flavors i loved! My bridal shower cake was made to look like a garden and people didn’t even realize it was a cake!
My wedding cake was just as delicious and beautiful. I went for a very classic look and the cake was one of my favorite decorations.
Michael is very kind and so talented! I would highly recommend his creations! -

Everything about the cake from the design down to the taste was amazing. All guest called to find out if we had more because it was delicious. Micheal was very kind and his presentation of cake flavors was amazing. We were more than satisfied. We will be using Artistic Desserts in the future. -

Michael was amazing to work with and the finished product was beyond our dreams!! My husband is a big cake guy and I was worried that we wouldn't find anything that WOWED him!! I was so wrong...from the minute the tasting started all I heard was wow that was the best cake I've ever had!!! Piece after piece. Michael thank you can never be enough but it's all I have. So THANK YOU!!! -

Michael was fantastic to work with! He was very accommodating (even with my gluten allergy) and great with communicating during the planning process. The cake was delicious and beautifully decorated! We got so many compliments on it! -

During such a (potentially) stressful time planning, he helps make designing your perfect cake easy! The cake was exactly what I was looking for and tasted absolutely delicious. Emily Sent on 05/25/2018Our cake was included in our venue's package. We received cake slices at the venue tasting (before meeting Michael) to bring home with us. After eating a lot of cake, I contacted Michael to set up a planning call. The call was easy and I liked that I could share my inspiration with him on his own computer. He helped my now-husband and I work out the right design for us. We went for lemon cake with raspberry jam and raspberry cream filling and Italian cream cake with dark chocolate ganache and peanut butter cream filling. Both were amazing. I was hesitant to keep the top tier so Michael suggested that we save our top tier for a "wedding photo viewing" party, rather than our one year anniversary (brilliant idea). It was great working with him and I'm excited to get the photos back so I can eat more cake. -

Michael worked with us to design a gorgeous cake with two flavors that looked elegant and tasted AMAZING! So good, in fact, that, even though we were only married 6 days ago, we are halfway through eating the top tier we were supposed to save for the one year anniversary... oops.
Seriously, the cake tasted so good that I received numerous compliments from guests, and I will be purchasing another cake in the same flavor for my husband's upcoming birthday. THAT is how good it was.
Book Michael immediately but pack some Spanx for your wedding dress because the cake is gorgeous and irresistible! -

Crystal Sent on 12/02/2015We really enjoyed working with Michael! We had gone to 2 other cake vendors before meeting with him. He was our favorite among the three vendors as well as the most detail-oriented. He also made the cake tasting more of a personalized, formal affair as he provided a full table setting for us complete with china, freshly-made coffee and full cake slices (not just samples) to try and discuss together. It was a very elegant and well-presented experience. Michael also had a big display screen which showcased some of his cake creations (all flawless and beautiful) and had samples of Styrofoam cake tiers to help us with visuals. He was super organized during the consultation and went beyond the general experience you have with a cake vendor. He wrote down every detail of our cake vision, asked questions in order to get it right, and worked with us on both our requests and budget.
He was also very helpful throughout the planning process. We had a conflict with our cake topper and he was quick to respond and professional yet friendly in sharing with us his suggestions, and he was able to make it work which alleviated some last minute wedding-planning stress!
Overall, Michael is tremendous in both the form and function of his cakes. Our wedding cake looked and tasted great. We got so many compliments on it and being the cake lovers we are will never forget how perfect it was!

Michelle Sent on 09/18/2015Michael did the wedding cake for my sister’s wedding in 2009, so when I got engaged, I knew who was going to do mine! We touched based with him at a tasting at Grey Rock Mansion and his cakes were everything we remembered! We had a webinar meeting with him to discuss our plans in detail. It was so nice to not have to drive to another meeting! We had 300+ guests at our wedding and wanted to offer a variety of flavors, so we went with Lemon Cream Cake with Raspberry Cream Fillings for the 4 tier main cake, and then had 4 “strips” of different flavors: Italian Cream Cake with Swiss Raspberry and Vanilla Custard Filling, Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache and Chocolate Mousse Filling, Red Velvet Cake with Bourbon Vanilla Cream Cheese Fillings, and Italian Cream Cake with Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and Milk Chocolate Ganache Fillings. All of our guests were raving over the cakes. Not only were they gorgeously decorated, but they tasted amazing! We highly recommend Michael and Artistic Desserts! -

Stephanie Sent on 10/30/2014I currently used Michael from Artistic Desserts for my wedding cake. It was a bit of a drive out for the tasting but he made it very comfortable. He served us tea and coffee as we tried some of his best selling flavors. He showed us some of the cakes that he has designed in the past. He asked us a lot of questions about details making sure we were happy with the design and flavors of the cake. We got a 4 tier cake, the bottom was Reese's peanut butter cup, the next one was chocolate with chocolate, the next was red velvet and the top tier was pumpkin spice. The cake was amazing. We had asked for fall color leaves to climb up the cake with twigs. About a week before the wedding he called me asking what kind of leaves I wanted and how big to make sure he got all the details correctly. He sent me an email of all of his leaf templates and their sizes. I picked the one I thought was most appropriate. Looking at the cake on my wedding day I couldn't have imagined a better looking cake. It was exactly what I wanted it to look like. The cake was a bit expensive but I think it was worth the cost for such good quality and care. -

Nina Sent on 10/07/2013My husband & I are so happy with the cake we received from Michael at Artistic Desserts! It was delicious, we got great feedback from our guests and seeing the cake come to life after the sketch we made together was truly wonderful!
We had 2 flavors, red velvet and the triple chocolate, both got rave reviews and the icing wasn't too much! It was perfect! Michael was a real pleasure to work with. We did a web meeting with him from the comfort of our own home, it was very convenient! Michael was punctual, professional and so easy to work with.
His cakes are delicious and a piece of art! I highly recommend working with Michael for your cake, wether it be wedding, grooms or for a special life event, his cakes are to die for! Our cake was to die for and the attention to detail was great!!

Sarah Sent on 03/03/2013Michael is hands down THE BEST and so are his cakes!!! My husband and I went to Artistic Desserts because they came so highly rated. We were not let down! Our wedding was at the Antrim 1844 which is close to Artistic Desserts in Westminster.
I went with my fiance to Michael's house for the tasting - we sat in his dining room and sampled several flavors of cake with tea. Michael took the time to talk to us about different flavors and the best filling choices for each different flavor. My husband - who says he doesn't like desserts - all but licked his plate! I knew instantly we had a winner!
We couldn't decide, instead we went with THREE different flavors! (I regret not having more tiers and more flavors!). Michael also helped us design the cake's exterior with cherry blossoms (and it was sooo beautiful).
The cake was perfect when it arrived and its scent filled the hall! He's amazing, and we can't recommend him enough! -

We met with Michael Markwitz at his home to go over our wedding cake selections. We were served full-sized slices of his incredibly delicious moist cakes in his dining room, on Lenox china with a freshly brewed pot of coffee. HUGE slices of delicious cake - so you can taste each one several times as you're narrowing down what you want.
He combines whatever filling you want with whatever kind of cake you want, so again - big slices of fresh delicious cake really help when you're mixing stuff up to make an educated decision.
He helped us select the number of tiers we wanted and even suggested keeping the cake shorter and offered to make a couple of cakes on the side to save money. Not sheet cakes, the same awesome round cakes with fabulous fillings. He gave us tons of detail on how to cut and serve the cake and drew me a little diagram as well (there is an art to cutting a huge wedding cake without butchering it and I'm grateful he took the time to explain. We has friends helping with the catering and needed the tutorial!)
We have three tiers and he doesn't charge any extra if we wanted to do all three tiers with different cake flavors and fillings! Neat!
The Cakes:
Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting - the cake and icing were dense and delicious without the cloying sugary sweetness or unsweetened butter greasiness of a lot of other bakeries' cakes and icings. His icing was PERFECT.
There was an italian cream cake with a layer of Swiss imported seedless raspberry marmalade and a second layer of custard creamy goodness.
Dense and delicious lemon cake with raspberry cream - we went with this one, and switched out one of the raspberry cream filling layers with raspberry marmalade. (Ah the joys of custom choices from a small business that values you!!) Again, not too sweet, not TOO dense - just right.
The chocolate - holy goodness. There was some kind of incredible ganache filling in there that was to die for. We ended up getting 2 extra side cakes it was THAT good.
He made another cake with crushed peanut butter cups in the filling - this was my fiance's fave and it was delicious as well. Believe it or not, I am not a huge fan of cake overall, but you can't NOT love this guy's cakes. They are fabulous and they are beautifully decorated.
He spent well over an hour with us at 7:00pm on a weeknight to accommodate our work schedules. He scrolled through tons of pictures of cakes he had decorated so we could see some examples and he made some great recommendations. He let us try samples of fondant even though the cake we were selecting was iced with buttercream, just because he wanted to share it. It was light and soft and tasted almost like marshmallow. It tasted so much better than any fondant I have had before - he makes his own and it is delicious.
When I went off on a tangent after seeing a super-fancy cake he made for another wedding, he brought me back to my original vision for a simple, homemade-looking, classic wedding cake, even though the other option that caught my fancy would have cost a significant amount of money and truly would have been an impulse-buy. The man is a professional.
I love independent businesses. What a drastic difference between a tasting in the home of someone who loves what they do and an impersonal tasting at a busy bakery that hardly cares and expects a healthy deposit in advance before they do you the huge favor of serving you silver-dollar sized stale morsels of cake. Artistic Desserts was a totally different experience - for such a special day, you deserve the personal treatment Michael gives you. He was an absolute joy to work with. He came early, set up the dessert table on the stands that I selected and it looked so beautiful I almost cried! It was exactly what I asked for.
I highly, highly recommend Michael and his wonderful cakes. We live far away and drove an hour to get to our tasting and it was so worth it. He is very friendly, very knowledgeable and very interested in making sure you get exactly what you want for a fair price. It was a great experience and a fabulous reminder of why I love shopping small businesses most of all. He really is an artist and I got exactly what I wanted on my wedding day! -

After sampling different cakes at a bridal show I went home & couldn't stop telling my husband how amazing the cake was that I sampled. My husband & I then met with the owner, Michael Markwitz a week later & after sampling his cakes my husband was completely sold as was I. We sat with Michael for hours designing our "Perfect" Wedding Cake. The definition & detail that was put into our cake was outstanding!!! We still have people calling us asking if we have any frozen cake left.
I have never had any type of cake that even comes close to the two we had at our wedding.
I will recommend Artistic Deserts to EVERYONE I know as well as people I come in to contact with on a day to day basis. -

Tracey Sent on 05/14/2010No one can bake a cake like Michael!! The cake wasn't just drop-dead gorgeous, but it was also delicious. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect cake. There wasn't any cake left over at the end of the night. It was eaten and taken home, guest were asking for more. I can't wait to order our 1 year anniversary cake, we might even do it for every anniversary, it was that good. My hat goes off to you, Artistic Desserts. Michael is funny, friendly, creative and a miracle worker. Ladies if you want art you can eat and a one of a kind cake call Michael. -

Roxanne Sent on 05/14/2010One of the only things I truly enjoyed in planning my wedding was going to cake tastings. So I went to a bunch of them. With out a doubt Michael was the best. The impressive presentation of just tasting the cakes from Artistic Desserts was far better than any other. Generally you try wedding cake in a small room, with a bunch of other couples, and with plastic forks and paper plates. Not Michael, he makes you feel like royalty, Dinning room, fine china and silver wear. You get his full attention and understanding of how he makes these amazing cakes.
On the day of my wedding the cake was exactly how I wanted it to look, beautiful and delicate. We picked the rieces peanut butter cups with chocolate ganache, my husbands favorite, and raspberry with a light ganache filling. When it was time to eat the cake at the wedding, my husband and I served it too each other nicely and took a bite. Well let me tell you we did not stop there, we stayed up there until we finished that piece, no one was taking it away from us! - It was soooooo delicious that we had another piece at the table too. Also the fondant was the best I ever tasted. It is like a marshmallow flavor and you can actually eat it too, unlike other places who use it just for looks.
The rieces peanut butter cups with chocolate ganache was a huge hit at the wedding, something unexpected and wonderful.
We would highly recommend using Artist Desserts for you wedding, or any special occasion! They are the best! -

Beautiful and delicious wedding cake
Michael created the most beautiful and delicious cake. His red velvet and almond flavors were the talk of the wedding! We had guest asking if we had more cake the next day haha We did a 3-tier cake in red velvet, and an additional sheet cake of the almond. The cake was decorated with beautiful red roses and a cake topper. Michael was professional and easy to work with. Thank you so much!!! -

Perfect wedding cake
The wedding cake was more than I ever imagined. From the detail to the appearence and the taste. I simply showed Michael a picture and he made it come to life. Words does not due this justice. We did a nightmare before Christmas theme.. AMAZING!!!!!! -
