My husband found Michael through his own research but it was fortuitous that he also worked out of our venue - the Grey Rock Mansion. Happily, we were able to taste his cake during our tasting. As someone who seriously considered getting a simple sheet cake to cut costs, I am glad we went with Michael because his cakes were not only reasonably priced (plus we did not have to deal with a delivery fee), but it was the highlight of our wedding. We had three tiers (four if you include the topper) where each tier was a different flavor. Everyone thought it was very cool to be able to choose from carrot cake, red velvet or Italian creme cake. Many people told me they sampled all three at the ceremony. I had some people remark that it was the best carrot cake they ever had and while I did not get to eat my slice until we arrived at our honeymoon destination, I kicked myself for not saving more of the red velvet for myself. Lastly, in the webinar and phone conversations I had with Michael, he was relaxed and genuinely interested in how I was doing. It was that perfect balance of professionalism and small talk. Michael did a wonderful job on our wedding cake!! It looked beautiful and it tased amazing!! We had the vanilla cake with the reeses peanut butter filling and butter cream icing. IT WAS A HIT!!! Michael is hands down THE BEST and so are his cakes!!! My husband and I went to Artistic Desserts because they came so highly rated. We were not let down! Our wedding was at the Antrim 1844 which is close to Artistic Desserts in Westminster.
I went with my fiance to Michael's house for the tasting - we sat in his dining room and sampled several flavors of cake with tea. Michael took the time to talk to us about different flavors and the best filling choices for each different flavor. My husband - who says he doesn't like desserts - all but licked his plate! I knew instantly we had a winner!
We couldn't decide, instead we went with THREE different flavors! (I regret not having more tiers and more flavors!). Michael also helped us design the cake's exterior with cherry blossoms (and it was sooo beautiful).
The cake was perfect when it arrived and its scent filled the hall! He's amazing, and we can't recommend him enough!Michael is hands down THE BEST and so are his cakes!!! Michael took my vision and made it a reality. Not only was he constantly in touch with me.....but he called me a few days before the wedding to confirm....I didn't have to call him first.
The cake was FANTASTIC. SOOOOOOOO good. Best cake I've ever had....moist....yummy.

My mom loved the cake so much, I ordered her a birthday cake a few months before my wedding and Michael put just as much care into that cake as well.

Michael is a genius. My wedding cake was completely gorgeous and completely delicious. We were able to taste about 6 different cakes and they were all scrumptious. We went this the almond. Goodness!! What an amazing cake. And this is from a woman who bakes. All my friends were concerned that I couldn’t find a baker who would meet my very high standards but boy did I! Michael did an amazing job. The cake was moist and beautiful. Look no further.Michael is a genius. My wedding cake was completely gorgeous and completely delicious. We met Michael at a wedding show and we knew from that day he was going to be the one that made the most important cake we would ever buy! Michael is absolutely amazing to work with, his cakes are amazing and so moist and flavorful! Michael truly went out of his way to create my fairy tale cake. We had a Beauty and the Beast cake topper and Our cake fit right into the theme of the cake topper, it even shimmered! Artistic desserts did my wedding cake on September 16, 2012. I worked with Michael, and he was always very professional and quick to return my calls with any questions I had. We knew as soon as we tasted their cake that we wanted to use them. There cakes are the best I've ever tasted! The fillings are amazing and the cake is so moist and fresh tasting. We got a pretty basic 3 tier wedding cake with piping and some design on it in icing but it looked beautiful and classic. Michael's cake's are not only delicious but amazingly stunning to look at! I actually had the pleasure of meeting Michael two separate times before our meeting to choose flavors & a design. I met Michael the first time at Savage Mill bridal show and fell in LOVE with his Italian Cream cake with Swiss Raspberry Marmalade (yum!). Then my fiance, parents and I met him again at a catering tasting @ Grey Rock Mansion with Simply Elegant Catering. Little did I know that our caterer worked directly with Michael @ Artistic Desserts. Needless to say I was delighted that not only my fiance but my parents could now also taste his mouthwatering flavors that I had been raving about. Michael made us the most beautiful, delicious, amazing wedding cake that I could have ever imagined! The cake was on display next to us the whole night and I couldn't stop myself from staring at it in amazement... it was exactly what we discussed when we met with him and we were so impressed that he made it come to life. I HIGHLY recommend Artistic Desserts for your wedding cake! I appreciated his web-based planning meeting, which was convienient for my hectic schedule considering I had no wedding planner, and was working two-jobs. Nonetheless, every detail was captured and my guests still gushing over how beautiful my cake was. Our wedding planner referred us to Artistic Desserts and they were fabulous. Our theme was Alice in Wonderland and the cake they made us was truly a work of art! We ended up choosing three different cake flavors and they were all amazingly delicious! Michael created the most beautiful and delicious cake. His red velvet and almond flavors were the talk of the wedding! We had guest asking if we had more cake the next day haha We did a 3-tier cake in red velvet, and an additional sheet cake of the almond. We decided to try our luck with an old tradition and saved the top layer of our delicious wedding cake. After a year in the freezer we thawed our top layer! To our amazement we were happy to see it was very well preserved and delicious as ever!!! Not soggy or frost-bitten! The credit must go to our storage job, but most importantly to the quality of the cake! DELICIOUS!!!
Michael was a pleasure from beginning to end. The cake was delicious and beautiful!! We had some leftover and can't wait to enjoy it on our own... my husband is very protective over the cake (he doesn't want to share). Michael Markwitz is a genius with flour and sugar. I am writing this review before I have even thanked him for the amazing four-tier wedding cake to serve 300 people. It was delivered on time, looked elegant and beautiful, and tasted like heaven. Michael met with us, brought a ton of cake, and walked away with our confidence. He even called me later to talk about some ideas he had to make the cake look less gaudy and more elegant...his experience and talent made our first taste of wedding cake perfect!!!
As for value, well, we had 260 guests, then ate more the next day with our luncheon and then ate more the next day for breakfast...and we still have our top tier.

The two most important things at the wedding. The Bride's Gown and the Cake. Both were a smashing success! Mike of Artisitc Desserts is not only a class act, but a class baker. His attention to detail and design is way beyond the term "Baker" ... he truly is an artist. We had a very unusual cake, and he embraced the concept gladly and created a winning design that left our guests smiling and talking. Not only are his cakes great looking, they are delicious. Not the standard pound cake with gloppy icing. Try red velvet with rich buttercream icing, or italian creme cake with ganache... We were thrilled with Artistic Desserts and will be using them again.The two most important things at the wedding. The Bride's Gown and the Cake. Both were a smashing success! Mike of Artisitc Desserts is not only a class act, but a class baker. His attention to detail and design is way beyond the term "Baker" ... he truly is an artist. We had a very unusual cake, and he embraced the concept gladly and created a winning design that left our guests smiling and talking. Not only are his cakes great looking, they are delicious. Not the standard pound cake with gloppy icing. Try red velvet with rich buttercream icing, or italian creme cake with ganache... We were thrilled with Artistic Desserts and will be using them again. -

Chef Michael knows what he is doing!! When we went out to Westminster to try his cake selections, both myself and my HUSBAND fell in love...and both of our plates were clean! He was very flexible to work with; I wanted to incorporate Funfetti cake into some layers of our wedding cake since its my favorite and even though it is not a flavor he normally does, he experimented and made it work out wonderfully! We ended up doing that mixed with layers of Red Velvet Cake and overall got rave reviews. Thank you Chef Michael! We loved everything about the cake!!Chef Michael knows what he is doing!! CAKE WAS AMAZING! Michael is easy to work with, we showed him photos of what we wanted and he replicated it so perfectly!
Tasted delicious, he was helpful with tips on freezing/storing it, and he sent us samples to our venue so we didn't have to travel to Westminster.
