Maria is the best

This review is so so late and I’m so sorry for that. Maria was a dream to work with. My mom was diagnosed with late stage cancer and we were in a rush to get married so she could be there. Maria was able to accommodate us and altered my dress beautifully. COVID delayed our wedding by a year and a half but we were able to have a simple ceremony prior to that. Thanks to Maria, my mom was able to see me my husband and I get married in the dress she helped pick out. Throughout the process, Maria was extremely compassionate.

Altered a dress that was too small!

I went to Anytime Alterations to get help with a dress that was too small and Maria gave me hope. She took a poorly designed dress and made it perfect for me. Her candor and talent will keep me coming back for years to come. I won't marry until next month but I will try to come back here and share pictures then.

Custom Altered Dream Wedding Dress

Maria at Anytime Alterations was absolutely amazing. I had a dress that I liked some elements of but had major issues with other elements and she was able to turn it into my dream wedding dress. My dress was complicated with many layers of fabric, lace and beadwork but she was able to take off the long train, even the length of the dress and use the leftover material to created custom sleeves in my dream style. In our fitting sessions she worked with me to design the sleeves to my specifications and she gave suggestions and design advice that helped make my ideas even better. The final result was absolutely stunning. I got compliments all night long and people thought I was wearing a vintage dress. You would never know looking at the skirt that it had ever had a train, so seamlessly did it come together and flow as I danced. Maria is a fantastic seamstress and designer and I highly recommend her for all of your alteration needs!

Perfect Alterations

Maria from Anytime Alterations was fantastic. She was easy to communicate with and it was clear she took pride in her work. Make sure to get anything to her early- she gets very busy and doing this helps to make sure your garment gets the attention it deserves. I brought my wedding dress to Maria three months before my wedding day, and she thanked me about three times for doing so! The shop was very cute, and everyone wore a mask which was great. Maria and her staff helped get me into my wedding dress and I stood in front of the mirror. Maria asked me to tell her what I wanted done, and she pinned/ made notes accordingly. Then, she asked if she could give me her suggestions. She did and they made such a significant difference- they were things I had not really thought of before. There was a small deposit required upon drop off, and what was great was that they broke down each part of the total cost- the transparency is always helpful and appreciated. She showed me the calendar and gave me a time frame in which I should come back and let me pick what worked best for me (two months from drop off, one month before wedding). At my next appointment, my dress had been transformed, and I was so happy. The only thing that wasn’t done was adding back my lace hem, because she wanted to double check that the length was going to be appropriate with my shoes. The alterations turned out beautifully and she was spot on with what she recommended. At that point, I was allowed to have another fitting if I wanted it, or I could just pick up the dress a few days before the wedding. I opted not to do another fitting but having that choice was nice. In the COVID era that we are in, I did not know if I would need a mask for my wedding, so I had asked Maria to make one for me. She said she would use scraps from my dress to make it, so that it would match. She fitted me for a mask, which I appreciated, because so many store- bought masks are ill fitting. When I picked up my dress, she had not yet finished the mask. Maria very kindly delivered it to me at my hotel, after her shop closed for the day. This kind of service and attention to detail is hard to find, and she really helped to make my wedding day special in a dress that I felt confident in that was really fitted to my body. Maria does more than just wedding gowns, there were other customers getting work done on other garments. I think that Maria also does custom jobs too, but you would have to ask her specifically. If I ever need a custom job, or other alterations done, I would go back to Maria right away and would gladly recommend her to anyone!

They are amazing. Restored my mom's wedding dress!

Maria and her team are fantastic. My mom had saved me her dress from when she got married in 1986 and it needed quite a bit of work. They were able to fully restore it and customize it for me. It was so special to be able to wear her dress on my big day. I was also lucky that they had quite a few veils and one of them matched my dress to perfection. They were very responsive as well and I had quite a few fittings to get it perfect. I felt beautiful on my big day and I know I was extremely lucky to have found them. I highly recommend them if you are getting married and need your dress tailored. They are the best!

Phenomenal Tailor

Maria is such a wonderful tailor with so much attention to detail. She was wonderful to work with and made my dress work even after having to take it in twice because of how much time passed with pandemic date changes. Two weeks before the wedding, I decided to add an outfit change for the dance floor that needed hemming and alterations and she was able to get it all done in time to fit like a glove. Couldn't be happier with her service

Her expertise made me feel confident

Maria helped alter my wedding dress which was a little too short-waisted for me. I'm 5'11" so it needed a little more length in the bodice. From the start, she knew exactly what to do to make it fit like a dream. It looked so much better when she finished. She was friendly, the space was bright and clean, and it was finished in time. Great job.

Professional, Thoughtful Alteration For my Wedding Day

Maria Luz did such a fantastic job with my alteration and pressing. She removed the top layer of my dress to give more color and movement, sewed on comfortable cups inside the dress, and hemmed and pressed it. I definitely felt like a princess that day! Quality craftsmanship

Maria was so easy to work with, and did a phenomenal job altering my wedding dress! As someone who’s only 5’ tall, my dress needed some pretty extensive alterations (including completely dismantling and rebuilding the illusion lace high neckline of my dress so it wasn’t choking me!) and everything came out looking flawless. It’s pricier than some of the other places I was considering, but in my mind the cost was well worth it for the quality of work Maria does. She even made me a matching mask to wear using extra lace from my dress, which all of the guests at our micro-wedding LOVED!

Maria Is Phenomenal

Maria is truly exceptional at what she does! Not only does she bring literal decades of experience to what she does, she is one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine vendors that I've had the pleasure to work with. Maria had no ulterior motives and made recommendations based on my specific wedi dress and what would look best on me. She showed me all of my options throughout the process so I had an understanding of what the wedding dress would like with and without alterations. Maria wasnlt pushy and worked well with me to ensure that everything would be done on time and would look great on the day. I wouldn't recommend anyone else to do wedding dress alterations!

Incredible wedding dress alterations!

Maria came recommended by BHLDN Georgetown and I figured she might be more affordable than some of the tailors in DC. She was very direct and warm and is able to balance a lot of foot traffic while always delivering her work on time. I was nervous about my dress since it was all beaded and had to be taken in almost everywhere. She made it fit like a glove (but with room to dance) and I didn't lose a single bead!

Maria is an artist!

Maria did a wonderful job with my wedding gown! She knew just how it should fit, even though it was too big when I brought it in. She told me where it should hit me and how it should fall, and gave me an option on how much I wanted to taper through the thighs. Appointments with her were always on time and quick, but thorough. She even tailored several dresses for me to bring on my honeymoon! The week of my wedding (Oct 5 - a very busy wedding week), she was running a bit behind schedule, so she offered to drive my dress to me over an hour away. She is a lovely woman who is excellent at her craft. Highly recommend!

Amazing Job!

My dress was a bit too big when I bought it because I had lost some weight by the time my wedding day arrived. Anytime Alterations did an AMAZING job. Personalized service and my dress fit perfectly. It was taken in, hemmed and steamed. I plan on returning to get cleaned and preserved as well. Highly recommend!

Maria was great!

Maria did an incredible job! My dress arrived 5 weeks before the wedding and still required significant alterations on a dress with elaborate beading and lace. She was able to squeeze me in during weekends and I received so many compliments on the dress. She is so conscientious of her work that she put in a zipper reinforcement to make sure nothing went wrong on my wedding day and even came out to the car and showed us how to load and unload the dress so that it wouldn't wrinkle.

I did have to pay a rush fee since it was less than 8 weeks before the wedding, so keep that in mind when you plan alterations. Lesson learned - tell the bridal shop that your wedding is 2 months before the real date so that it arrives on time.

Beautiful work, made my dress look perfect!

I brought my wedding dress to Anytime Alterations to get it hemmed, decoration added, and fix an issue with the bodice not fitting correctly. They quickly identified the problem and made the adjustments so that my dress fit perfectly. I got so many compliments on it during my wedding! The only hiccup was that they didn't have the dress ready for pickup on the day that I had scheduled, but they were quick to correct the mistake, finding my dress and delivering it to my house only an hour later (and in rush hour traffic). Very pleased with both the quality of the work, customer service, and professionalism, as well as the level of experience they have dealing with wedding dresses.

Best tailor in DMV area!

Maria was amazing!! Finding a tailor for my wedding dress was one of the hardest parts of wedding planning because it was hard to compare tailors since they all do things differently and the range of quotes I got was huge! But I'm so glad I found Maria--her prices were very fair, and she did a fantastic job with my dress! It fit perfectly, and even though my dress was strapless, I didn't have to constantly pull it up to keep it from falling! She could not have done a better job. Everything was perfect and I couldn't have gotten more compliments on my dress. If you are still looking for a tailor for your wedding dress (or anything else really), don't look any further--go to Maria!

Maria was amazing!!

Maria is a true professional when it comes to bridal gown alterations. She clearly has many years of experience and she made me feel that my dress was in the best possible hands each time I came to her store. Prices for alterations were very reasonable and I felt confident that I was getting great value, especially when compared with other tailors in the local area. I found my perfect, vintage-style dress on sale for $100 at David's Bridal. It was too large, dirty and damaged from being tried on many times at the store, and the neckline was a little more plunge than I could handle, so I wanted to get the alterations done by someone really experienced and trustworthy. I chose Maria based on online reviews and she did not disappoint! The cost was more than I anticipated (having got the dress so cheaply I didn't mind), but it was worth it. The cleaning and repair were flawless and I was amazed at Maria's efficiency with alterations – she took the beadwork on the dress apart to adjust the neckline and put it back together looking even better than before. My dress looked and felt amazing!

I bought my wedding gown at a super bridal sale for less than $300, but the dress is worth over $2000. I came to Maria at Anytime Alterations, and she is an absolute professional. My dress was a sample gown and wayyy too tight, Maria literally worked a miracle and my dress fit perfectly. Wedding dress alterations anywhere will be pricey, but she is well worth the price. Working with Maria will put your mind at ease so you can focus on other wedding planning.

Maria is fantastic. I bought my wedding dress out of town, and was extremely concerned about finding someone to do the alterations. I fell in love with the dress because of the beautiful lace all over the dress, which needed to be completely rearranged to fit me. After meeting Maria, I felt completely confident in her ability to do the alterations and she took time to listen to every one of my concerns (trust me, I had plenty). We loved Maria so much, that my mother (who lives in New York), brought her dress to Maria for alterations. The dress fit perfectly, was very flattering, and extremely comfortable. I didn’t want to take it off! I would absolutely recommend Maria.

I just left my 6:30 AM appointment with Ms. Maria and I couldn't be more pleased. I contacted Ms. Maria on Sunday afternoon (after business hours) via email and she responded within a hour. This was one vendor I never worried about. I have so much trust in Maria and would highly recommend her to anyone who asked! My dress needed a miracle, it was way too small as I had not lost enough weight in time, the bodice needed let out and the lace topper needed let out. Maria examined the dress found extra hidden material, let it out on the spot, pinned it to fit me and the first time I could sigh with relief! I just picked up the dress and she did beautiful work! My dress is so polished, she cleaned up the lace work and added a button to cover up the hook on the back, in addition to sewing the dress to fit. I would hire Maria again and again, her expertise and confidence put me at ease and I'm so happy I found her.

I wore my great-grandma's wedding dress for my wedding. The dress was 79 years old! So you can imagine that I wanted to book a seamstress who knew what they were doing. Maria was amazing. She could take the dress (about 2 or 3 sizes too small for me) and work it from very clearly a 1930s dress into a modern, elegant, 1930s-inspired dress which fit me PERFECTLY and was restored beautifully. Maria was prompt in responding via email, she was always on-time for appointments and kept things moving, and she just so clearly knew what she was doing that I never once felt nervous as she cut up a 79 year old vintage dress in front of my eyes! She was completely confident and not afraid to give suggestions which was super helpful to me, since I am NOT a seamstress and didn't always know how to explain what I wanted properly. Maria is reasonably priced for a super high quality service! I cannot recommend Maria and the Anytime Alterations staff enough - I'd trust that woman with the queen's gowns. Take your dress here, you will not be disappointed.

Maria is an absolute delight! I found her on Wedding Wire, and she was phenomenal! I called her on a Monday and she had me scheduled for two days later (she was even very flexible when I had to change my appointment at the last minute, and she moved me to a later time). She is a miracle worker--she knew exactly where the dress needed alterations, and she gave me a detailed price quote that day. When I went back for my first fitting, the dress fit perfectly! Maria is so warm and friendly, and if you want to look amazing in your dress, take it to Anytime Alterations!

This review is for my experience coming into the shop for the first time consultation/fitting. I needed someone to alter my wedding dress and did not know where to start. There were so many brides here that loved Maria that I just had to make an appointment. She was available to meet me at 7am on a Saturday (and this was a last minute schedule change). When I arrived, Maria was ready and able to see me immediately. She helped me put on my dress and made sure I understood every alteration that was needed. The quote I was given was definitely pricier than expected, but Maria was very clear in explaining why each alteration was needed and based on her reviews, I decided to move forward. I was in and out quickly while not feeling rushed. It was overall a great experience. More updates to come when I try on the final product (will see the true value when I get the dress)!

I found Maria (Anytime Alterations) through the recommendation of BHLDN Georgetown. Immediately after seeing me try on my gown, she knew exactly what needed to be fixed. She basically reconstructed the whole top of the dress, and on my wedding day, the dress fit like a glove. I felt like a princess in Maria's extremely talented and capable hands. I thought the price for the alterations and pressing was extremely fair. Service was always super efficient, and Maria makes you feel really good about yourself and the dress when she works with you. On the day that my in-laws picked up my dress, she left me an incredibly kind voicemail on my phone with instructions and advice for my wedding day. Maria was amazing from the first time I walked into her studio. She is very knowledgeable about how your dress should fit you and also wants you to feel comfortable in your dress for your big day. She was also very flexible with her appointments to fit you in so everything will be done on time. She even delivered my dress to me after it was cleaned and preserved so i wouldn't have to drive to her studio again. I would recommend her to anyone in the area who needs their dress fitted or altered.

Let me first begin with how patient Maria is! I have met with her about 5x since October in preparation for my wedding next month. I was a bit unsure of how I wanted to customize my dress but her knowledge and honesty (and me making my my mind!) my dress is coming out perfect. She is direct and to the point yet friendly. She will help keep you on track if you're mind starts wandering with ideas. Although I did not price out other seamstresses in the area, just based on talking with friends and reading forums I know she is affordable/reasonable and is certainly worth it! I trusted my gut after reading her reviews and have not regretted it one bit. Maria knows what she is doing and you can trust that she will do a great job.

Maria is AMAZING! I was set on wearing my moms dress (she was married 35 years ago). The dress was not cleaned at all since the day of her wedding . Maria was able to removed al the stain and yellow coloring the dress had become after 35 years of sitting in a plastic container. Maria is very professional. She is honest, knowledgable and will listen to whatever you want. Her prices are very reasonable as well. She is amazing and I couldn't recommend her more.

I was so beyond happy with the end result of my wedding gown! Although I didn't need too much altered my dress had lace and beading and she did an excellent job with it! She was friendly, quick, and held on to my dress for me until a few days before the wedding so she could steam that and my vail. The way she packaged it for us to take was great, she showed us exactly how to carry it and hang it so it wouldn't get wrinkled. She gave 3 different bustle options that were all beautiful! She did an amazing job, we were so happy with her!!

Maria did a fantastic job on my dress. She was so patient with how many times she had to take my dress in...and then take it out just days before my wedding! She got dress done the day before, and it was perfect. Just a heads up, Maria is very abrupt. She knows what is doing and not afraid to say so. Don't let that turn you off. I would rather have someone who was honest about how to make the dress perfect.

Maria did a fantastic job with my wedding dress. I needed it hemmed, the waist taken in, the shoulders taken up, boning, cups and a belt added, plus the back altered, all of which she did for $380, including a final press at the end. My dress looked gorgeous and Maria always knew just how to advise me on what looked the best for my body type and the dress material. I will be taking all of my future dresses to her for alterations!

Maria was fabulous to work with. From the first moment I walked through the door with my dress, she knew exactly how to make it fit perfectly. The alterations ended up costing almost as much as my (very economical) dress but it was worth every penny because it looked gorgeous on the day of, like I'd had the whole thing made just for me. Amazing! She knew exactly what she was doing for the alterations for my wedding dress. The final results were amazing and fit me so perfectly. Appointments/Fittings were quick and efficient. Maria at Anytime Alterations was great to work with. She was responsive via email and I found it easy to set up appointments within her hours of operation. She was willing to meet with me when I wanted to- not like some alterations places that won't see you more than 1-2 months out from your wedding date- and I had my first appointment in December, my second in February, and my third in March for my April wedding (note- my weight does not tend to fluctuate, which was why I was comfortable doing this). She offered for me to come in a fourth time for one last fitting but I was confident after the third fitting and did not feel the need for another. Each fitting took about 30 minutes- Maria is quick but it never felt rushed. She always gave her honest opinion about what needed to be done which I appreciated. The price- which was decided up front at the end of my first visit when we discussed what was needed- was more expensive than I anticipated, but I went with it because I felt like I was in good hands and I do not regret my decision. My dress fit like a glove and my bustle stayed up the whole night (I've seen brides with broken bustles halfway through the reception and it is a huge hastle!). Maria even sewed in a heart shaped swatch from my Mother's wedding dress with a little blue ribbon for my "something blue"- a very sweet touch. The shop itself is nothing fancy (and kind of in an alley) but the dressing rooms provide plenty of space and there is a large open area for the fittings. Each time I was the only client there at the time of my appointment, which I appreciated. Thank you, Maria!! You did an amazing job and I felt great in my dress on my wedding day!

I got married in six weeks and the place where I bought my dress completely messed up and I had 72 hours to get my dressed fixed by the time they gave me my dress. As a bride to be, the last thing you want to have to worry about is your dress. I started researching places to go and found Anytime Alterations. I met with Maria, she was incredible. She told me what I needed to do to make the dress look better. She literally cut my dress in half, added a new zipper with 40 satin buttons, added material on the bottom and the top of my dress and created a super snug fit for on my chest.
She.was.a lifesaver! Everyone commented on how beautiful my dress was and how it fit me so perfect.

If you need to have anything at all to your dress, take it to Maria. Don't think twice. She is a blessing and exceeded my expectations. You will be taken care of and look your best.

Maria is an amazing seamstress. She was basically able to completely deconstruct then reconstruct the bodice of my gown, which had a lot of detailed lace work. She fitted that thing to me like a GLOVE! It was quite pricy, which obviously isn't thrilling, but I think totally worth the money. Bottom line, she made me feel skinny in my dress, which, hey, don't we all want that?

When it comes to your wedding dress, making any changes is such a scary thing. I had some drastic things I wanted to do, including cutting off my lace sleeves. Going into my first appointment, I was terrified but Maria quickly changed that! From the start, my mom and I knew that she was a professional and would be able to do exactly what I was looking for. Within the first appointment, she took off the sleeves and changed the fit of the dress, creating the vision I was looking for. Going with Anytime Alterations was worth every penny!!

LOVE Maria! I bought my dress from a charity event and it was at least 2 sizes too big. Maria helped me into my dress and started pinning away. She even had accessories in her shop (which I ended up getting earrings). Her prices are about what you would expect for quality work and she is definitely great at what she does. I can't imagine a more talented, professional tailor/seamstress than Maria. She clearly knows what she's doing, and gives her professional opinion in a direct and efficient manner that I truly appreciated. Her goal is clearly to make you look your very best.

I brought in my wedding gown thinking that all I needed was to have it hemmed, but Maria showed me how she could make additional adjustments that would make the dress fit even better. In the end, my gown fit as though it were tailor-made for me – I never imagined it could be improved so much!

Anytime Alterations isn’t the least expensive option in the DC area, but Maria is more than worth her prices. She was always prompt in her appointments and I was never kept waiting. She even gave me some great pointers on the best kind of undergarments to wear with the dress.

My advice: 1. Be sure to take your dress in for your first fitting at least 3 months in advance, if not more, especially if you're getting married during peak season and/or having a lot of work done. 2. Listen to Maria! She will not steer you wrong, and will make the dress of your dreams even better than your dreams! 3. After the wedding, Maria offers dress cleaning and preserving with a discount for her brides.

WOW! I was absolutely stunned at the amazing work Maria did on my bridesmaids dress! I bought it several months before the wedding and when I tried on the exact dress in my size in the store, it fit perfectly, however, I had forgotten than I bought the dress I was just getting over a stomach virus from which I had lost about 5-10 pounds. Thus, when the dress came in it was a bit tight. Nevertheless, I committed to dieting and exercising so it would fit by the wedding. Unfortunately, I don't really like dieting or exercising and while the dress zipped, it was a VERY difficult task and very uncomfortable. I came from out of state to my friend's wedding and was there about a week ahead of time. I dropped my dress off with Maria on a Tuesday and picked it up on a Friday! Maria took out the dress and added boning and it fit me perfectly on the day of my friend's wedding! I could dance, eat, sit, and stand, all comfortably enjoying my friend's big day!

The alteration itself ran about $85 (super reasonable in my opinion- especially for being so close to DC) with a rush fee of about $60 (also very reasonable considering the short turn around time!). I was very impressed with the work Maria did and would recommend her to anyone who needs a quick, reliable bridesmaid's dress alteration!

I love Maria. I brought my wedding dress to be hemmed, bustled, and taken in. The bodice had beading and she removed the beading (scary) so it can be taken in and the final dress looked exactly the way I brought it in. Maria is VERY honest, which is why I would go back to her again and again. When I was looking for a seamstress, I read a review that said that she was rude. Ummmm, no. Maria has tons of experience, and she straight to the point. If she doesn't think it would work, she will let you know and give you options. Who wants to pay someone to lie to you. She also teaches you how to get in your dress easily, how to get it off easily, and when I picked up my dress, she literally put it in my car with care. My MOH at the last minute needed her dress altered as well. As she is pretty busty, she needed the dress to be let out in the top. Maria took some piece from the bottom and put it up top, but I couldn't even tell you from where. The dress came out perfect in less than a week. I did spend more than I anticipated, but it was worth it. I wouldn't gamble with anyone else. I love it when vendors love what they are doing and it shows. Her level of care is the best!

Maria is just the best. if I could give her more than five stars I would. She altered both my ceremony and reception dresses for my wedding. She totally made them both look more gorgeous after she was done. I had no idea she could make my gowns fit and look so much better than when I first purchased them. My ceremony dress turned out to be outstanding thanks to Maria. She tailored the fit, took off the straps, took off an appliqué and added wonderful accents to the bodice and buttons down the back which was exactly what we discussed beforehand. I was so happy when I saw the finished product. Maria made my veil to match my ceremony gown. I got so many compliments on my veil. Guests of the wedding told me when I was standing at the altar my veil looked very nice because of the bling rhinestones that were placed throughout it. They said it looked really pretty and sparkly from a distance. That was Maria's idea to make the veil like that. I am glad she had that idea and made such a pretty veil for me. Maria created a custom made belt for my reception dress. I was pleasantly surprised how well she made the belt fit so perfectly with the dress. That belt brought the whole look of my reception dress up a notch. Maria also made my husband's vest and tie for his tuxedo. He look really looked great on our wedding day. Maria was kind to both of us. She took the time to explain what she was doing and answer our questions. Maria does exactly how and what you ask her to do. One of the best things about Maria is she is easy to communicate with. You can easily reach by phone or email. She tells you honestly how she feels about will work well or not with your attire and how things should fit you. I will definitely use Anytime Alterations in the future.

Maria at Anytime Alterations did a WONDERFUL job on my wedding dress. In addition to having the bodice altered to fit me perfectly, she also modified the neckline from straight across to a beautiful sweetheart. She made sure she understood exactly how far down I wanted the neckline to dip before any alterations were completed. Maria worked with my schedule and was able to meet my deadline without any trouble which was good because I felt like I was cutting it close given I brought my dress to her only five weeks before I needed to take it with me to Texas. I thought the price was very reasonable given the work involved and lace that had to be removed and sewn back on. The dress looked great and I highly recommend Maria and Anytime Alterations.

Maria was a godsend! Not only was she close to our house (always a bonus when fighting DMV traffic) but she was able to get us in quickly and worked with our schedules. During the first fitting, she asked specifically what I did and didn't like about the dress's fit, giving me a chance to explain in my own words the issues I was having (too little on top, mostly). All of the fittings were FAST - only about 10-15 minutes, which I appreciated on a busy Saturday morning. Maria was also very willing to move a fitting around last minute, so my mother could attend while in town.
When we picked up our dresses, everything was pressed and ready to go. Maria even helped me get them in the car properly so they would not wrinkle.
We love Maria and will continue to use her for our everyday seamstress needs!

I selected this vendor after reading the reviews online this website. I was very pleased with the level of service that I received and the quality of the work.

I purchased my dress from a thrift store, a never worn (new tags) satin gown and it was a size 16 (I wear a size 8). I purchased the dress large knowing I would be very pregnant on my wedding day. During my first visit Maria was very helpful in explaining what needed to be done to the dress, the timeline and her pricing. During the visit she pinned the dressed and explained what type of shoes I needed to purchase to make the dress look its best.

During my second fitting (a month later), I tried on the dress with my shoes and the transformation from an over sized dress to a beautiful gown had taken place. The dress was contoured to my body and looked amazing. My dress had a lot of bead work and you could not tell where the dress had been altered, she replaced all of the bead work by hand. And Maria assured me that the dress would fit for my final fitting ( a month away).

I was little nervous going into my final fitting because my belly had grown so much. Yet when I tried on the dress, it was absolute perfection. The dress was very shapely, it made me look beautiful as if the dress had been custom made.

A week later I pick up the dress for my wedding. The dress was cleaned pressed and traveled well to the wedding location. The forms she uses prevented any wrinkles and the dress was very secure on the body form.

My dress was breathtaking on my wedding day and it's all because of Maria. After bringing my dress home from the place where I first bought it, I started second guessing myself. I began looking at other dresses and thought that I might want to purchase a new dress. Then, I decided that maybe I could fall in love with the dress again. Maria's attention to detail is amazing. She had several suggestions for my dress alterations but wasn't pushy when I decided not to go ahead with a few of them. Her work is remarkable and my wedding dress looked like it was sewn right on me! She even included several things like attaching my slip to my dress without charging me extra! I would highly recommend her for any alteration!

I can't say enough about Maria! She was very responsive to my questions and was extremely knowledgeable about her craft. I bought a dress that I needed fitted and she was able to make it so that my dress fit my body to a T. It required intricate bead work on the bodice and no one knew there was any work done to the dress. She was always on time and very efficient. I was never left waiting. She was always prepared for the fittings and her prices are very reasonable for the work she does. Ladies, she is the one to go to, to make sure your dress is perfect for your day. I plan to go back for any other alterations I need!

I went to Maria to get my wedding dress altered after purchasing it from David's Bridal. David's Bridal was not able to make the requested alterations. I wanted to be able to have a detachable bottom to my dress, so I would have a great party dress for my reception. Maris was able to create a great option for me so that I could enjoy my wedding. I am so glad that I was able to locate her and receive such wonderful service. She adhered to deadlines and was very flexible with scheduling. What more could a bride ask for!

It's hard to put into words to describe how unbelievably talented Maria is. I ordered my wedding dress from a salon in Tysons but wanted it to be custom tailored to my body. I did a lot of research (both on WeddingWire and Yelp) to find a wedding dress seamstress and Maria seemed to have the most positive reviews. When I first went to visit her she was extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy and professional. She transformed my dress to look like it was custom made to my body and it looked amazing. My dress had 3 layers including intricate beading but Maria is so talented that she had no problem taking my dress apart and then putting it back together. I couldn't be happier and pleased with how amazing my dress looked. My mom also had her dressed altered here and it also looked amazing!

I bought my dress out-of-state and found Maria on Wedding Wire. Her shop was a little tricky to find the first time, but I only had to make about 4 visits total. I worried about everything else for my wedding except my dress. I knew Maria would do a wonderful job! You can tell that she has done this for many years. I had to have the bust and waist taken in, a bustle added, and the bottom hemmed. The waist included some intricate beadwork and the alterations were perfect. The dress fit absolutely perfectly and the overall experience was comfortable and easy. I would highly recommend Maria!

Maria is AMAZING. I bought a used, couture bridal dress made out of silk chiffon, a very delicate fabric. While the dress was beautiful, it needed a lot of work ... it was two sizes too big and needed to be lengthened. After Maria tailored the dress, it looked better than how the designer, Sarah Seven, made it. I received so many complements the day of my wedding on how beautiful the dress was. While the alterations were not cheap, Maria spent so much time and detailed work on making the dress perfect. The cost was definitely worth it. I highly recommend her to any bride ... she will make your dress absolutely perfect for your wedding day.

Maria Luz truly saved the day! I brought her my wedding dress, which was in a disastrous state and she worked miracles on it. Her honesty about what truly could and could not be done to the dress was so refreshing. The things she could change and fix, she knocked out the park. I don’t know what I would have done without her as she is truly gifted. She was incredibly reliable, even under tight deadlines during Hurricane Sandy. Her cleaning and preserving of the dress after the wedding was fantastic. If you have a dress that needs to be significantly altered, Maria is your seamstress.

She was amazing with the alterations of my dress - which included re-applying some of the bling from one place to another, and gave me great advice related to the wedding and my outfit in general.

But really the cleaning of the dress was outstanding. My dress was a Filene's running of the bride dress and she was able to make it look untouched for the wedding ceremony. That day I tramped through a garden in the rain - and then brought it back to Anytime for another cleaning prior to my wedding reception. The bottom of the dress was 100% black.

And I got it back looking pristine again. Total magic. 100% recommend.

I cannot say enough great things about Maria. She is talented, professional, efficient -- and fun! She made great suggestions without being overly pushy and she even suggested and created sheer cap sleeves for my dress that I hadn't even realized I wanted until I saw them. They wound up making my dress absolutely perfect and I can't imagine the dress now without them. Numerous people complemented me on them at the wedding!

I cannot recommend Maria and her services enough -- her prices are very reasonable, especially given the exceptional work she does. I hope to find more opportunities to work with her in the future. She is terrific!

I brought my dress to Anytime Alterations thinking it just needed to be taken in at the top. When I tried on the dress for Maria to explain what I needed, she analyzed the dress, noticed every little detail and made additional suggestions that dramatically improved the look and fit of the dress. Maria has a great eye and is absolutely AMAZING at what she does. She saw so much potential for the dress that I didn’t see initially. When she was done working her magic, the dress was PERFECT and fit me like a glove. I couldn’t be happier with how it came out. I received so many compliments on my wedding day. I met Maria through the store where I bought my dress - I Do I Do. Maria had a great eye and was very focused on making sure that I was happy with the dress and alterations. Maria takes great care in her work and did a wonderful job on my dress, I absolutely LOVED the final result. She even offered to provide steaming for my dress to ensure it was done properly. I was a bit nervous picking it up the day before my wedding but Maria had it ready and waiting for me when I arrived and even loaded it in the car for us to make sure it would not wrinkle.

I would absolutely work with Maria for future alteration needs and recommend her to others. I had a great experience working with her from start to finish!

I met Maria Luz through I Do I Do Bridal Salon, where I purchased my dress. She did the alterations for my gown and also - free of charge - helped me with my veil, which I had made myself. She is an absolutely fabulous seamstress. I highly recommend her for any event. She was flexible and excellent at her job.

Maria was so flexible in making appointments with me, and kept in contact if an appointment time didn't work out for her. She provided so many options to bustle the back of my dress, which I chose a three-loop bustle since I won't be wearing the dress for the reception. She took in the bodice of the dress and added boning to help keep its shape once she added a corset back. I bought my dress brand new at a Goodwill in North Carolina after it was donated from a bridal boutique that went out of business. It had a huge butt bow that Maria used for material to make the loops, ribbon and back panel for the corset (and the bustle loops). Her price was reasonable (less than $400) and turn-around on the finished product was much faster than I thought it would be. My dress was complete and perfect in less than a month - no rush fees! I highly recommend Maria - the quality of work is great and she was a pleasure at all my meetings with her!

Working with Maria was a great experience! I bought my dress at I Do I Do in Gaithersburg, and Maria was the tailor they used. After the initial alterations at I Do I Do, I went to Maria's shop several times to try on the dress and then to pick it up. Maria was always very professional, super quick and efficient, and very sure of what to do with my dress to make it fit just right. Especially for a bride who was uncertain and hesitant, she was able to give me confidence that my dress was going to be just right! Despite her being very busy (15+ weddings a week when I was working with her) she was still able to accommodate my needs and last minute fittings, just to make sure it fit! My dress came out beautifully and perfect!

Maria made my too-big dress fit like a glove. This was particularly challenging task, since the dress was covered in sequins and tulle, but she's a pro. She also made me a beautiful veil to match. I was so happy with the quality of her work, and she gives great advice. Her price is completely reasonable for the tremendous work she does. I'd definitely go back to her with future alteration needs. She's awesome.

Maria is great. I came to her with an inexpensive J Crew wedding dress that fit awkwardly on the bodice. She reshaped it to my figure, added material to make it less revealing, boning to keep the structure, and a nice new zipper fixing the original cheap one. She's incredibly kind and making my several appointments was quick and easy.

One of the sweetest moments of my wedding was when one of my 10 year old guests said I was wearing her dream wedding dress. Melt my heart.

I bought my dress from a discount bridal shop in NYC that mainly carries dresses from previous seasons. I found an exquisite lace Manuel Mota dress with gorgeous beading all over, but it was the only one and it was 3 sizes too big. Maria to the rescue! I had been to Maria a couple times before to make a bridesmaid dress and for other alterations. I have so much confidence in her work that I chose to have her do my alterations rather than the bridal shop. She took the dress in so that it fit like a glove and was extremely accomodating when I asked that it be let out a little more (so I could eat!). She also shortened in and put in a beautiful french bustle for the reception. When there was a last minute crisis with the length on the dress, she kept me calm and rehemmed it in 2 days. Her work is impeccable. I believe that she removed and redid all of the beading on the dress to keep it seamless. Also, I moved to another city in the middle of wedding planning and when she happened to be visiting that same city, she brought the dress to me! All of this in probably a little over 2 months. Maria, if I had to do it all over again, there is no question that I would come back to you.

Maria is fantastic! I bought my wedding dress from J. Crew that was both too big and too long. She did one round of alterations and when I went in to try it on we discovered a couple other changes that needed to be made. She made those alterations and the dress was perfect. It’s clear she has her process down to a science because she’s excellent. I’d recommend her to anyone!
