100% Exceeded my Expectations

Amy was so great to work with. I did my trial pre-COVID (Feb. 2020) and it wasn't until Sept. 2021 that I got to enjoy my wedding and use Amy for the morning of! She is very knowledgable about makeup and her biggest thing is making everyone look natural, which is exactly what I was looking for. She did airbrush, which was amazing and the makeup lasted the entire evening!

Amy was such a joy to work with and she really knows how to make you look and feel your best on your wedding day.

Experienced and Responsive

Amy did 8 girls total including myself, then at the last minute had to throw in an emergency girl. She handled everything with class and made everyone look amazing and natural. Prices were fantastic and she was very responsive, easily adjusted schedules as needed.

Excellent, Amy is very patient and professional.

Emy was the upmost professional. I never ended up doing a trial with her, since I had a small and intimate wedding, but she had such wonderful raving reviews that I trusted it would be ok. And all her reviews were so right! She made me look and feel so gorgeous, as well as my mother. Even before I met her, through all my email exchanges with her, she was so professional and so nice! Amy Is a great artist and she talks to you to see what you want and ensures you are comfortable with what she is doing. I have used her numerous times and I always get comments about how beautiful my make-up is. I love working with Amy. I have used some other make-up artists in the area, I found Amy to be more interested in doing my make-up to fit my age and my event.

This is my second time using Amy. I enjoy working with her because she knows how to bring out your natural beauty and not cover it up like other artists have done with me in the past. I don't like to have a ton of products on my face to the point where my skin feels like its suffocating. I like to look at myself in the mirror after a makeup session and still recognize my face! Amy even requested to see my dress to decide which colors to use. My family and friends absolutely love how she transformed them and the makeup lasted all night long! Amy is so friendly and she will gladly work with any request you may have. I asked her to airbrush my chest to match my neck and face :) cant wait to contact her for a third time!

Amy did my bridal makeup trial back in February and everything about my experience was wonderful. She does the trial out of her home in a beautiful make-up room! She guided me in everything she was doing and answered any and all questions I had about makeup ( I don't wear a lot usually). She did a fantastic job of enhancing my face without doing too much! It was perfect. I cannot wait to see my makeup on my wedding day.

Amy did a fantastic job for the makeup trial! She listened closely to what I was looking for (I don't wear a lot of makeup usually so I wanted to keep more of a natural look) and did a great job of making me look beautiful. I can't wait to see how it turns out on the big day!

I used Amy for my wedding makeup on March 26, 2016 and have nothing but positive things to say. My initial makeup artist, cancelled on me in November, which left me incredibly stressed and worried I wouldn't find another makeup artist. It actually worked out for the best because then I got to work with Amy! She responded to my initial request right away and fit me in for a trial. She listened to everything I wanted and was able to give me a great look, without making me look/feel like I was wearing too much makeup. On the day of, she arrived early, brought all necessary supplies and did the makeup for myself, 3 of my bridesmaids and my mom. Everyone looked stunning and had their own look they felt confident in. I would recommend Amy to anyone as she is truly a professional and so incredibly nice!

Amy Miranda is an OUTSTANDING makeup artist! After doing some research and reading great reviews, I hired Amy to do my make-up for my wedding in April 2016. I had a small intimate second wedding (no wedding party) – so I truly appreciated Amy’s dedication to coming up with the best style for my important day.

Since I do not wear that much makeup, I am clueless when it comes to make-up application. So, I had three make-up trial sessions at Amy’s studio. I wanted to compare the different styles. During the sessions, Amy sat down with me to discuss the look I was interesting in as well as looking at different pictures. We talked about my wedding and the color scheme. She was very patient and listened to all my requests. Amy is very personable, professional and knows how to bring out the natural beauty in her clients. She takes her time and talks to you during the whole make-up application process – explaining each and every step. It is evident by her work that she loves what she does and she loves working with people! I was amazed and extremely pleased with my transformation (I wish Amy could do my make-up everyday…LOL). I had the make-up trials around 11am and I could not believe it stayed on all day and night (until I took it off around 11pm).

I finally figured what I wanted for my wedding day and Amy was AWESOME!!! My make-up was OUTSTANDING and I never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day. I am so happy that I took my time to decide the look I wanted because it was worth it. Amy did not disappoint. If you are looking for a highly-rated, highly-qualified true makeup artist – no need to look further. Book Amy Miranda! You will NOT be disappointed! One other important point to make – her pricing is VERY reasonable.

I saw Amy Miranda for a make-up consultation as I was interested in updating my look and wanted some direction regarding the best products for my skin. First, the lesson was two hours (and at a very reasonable price!) and that allowed for plenty of time to discuss recommended tools and products as well as the opportunity for me to apply them myself. Amy has a wealth of information and experience to offer her clients and I learned a lot. She sent me follow-up emails with product information and links which was very helpful as there was no way I could remember everything she shared with me during my appointment. And furthermore, she remains available for any further questions her clients may have. I was very happy to work with Amy and highly recommend her to others.

Amy is an amazing make up artist and truly loves what she does! She takes her time with her application and it really does stay on throughout the ceremony and reception! I accidentally went to bed without washing my face (a big no no and I know Amy would not approve) however, when I woke up the next morning my make up was still 90% in place! Not that I recommend leaving on your make up but I just wanted to share how well the application holds up as I know this is important to most brides. I highly recommend doing a trial with her beforehand. She is very detailed oriented and organized--she will take photos and notes to remember exactly what she did during your trial and will either duplicate it for your on your wedding day or provide recommendations to enhance your look even more for your big day. She also pays attention to what each person really wants--one of my bridesmaids LOVES make up so Amy did a much more "dramatic" look for her. Not over done or outshining the bride--but truly pays attention to what her customers want and what works for the skin and face. If i could afford to have my make up done everyday I would totally use Amy! :) But, since I can't I will definitely keep her in mind for special occasions and recommend her to future brides!

Amy was amazing! She did my sister and I's makeup for my sister's wedding. She listened to exactly what we wanted and provided us wth very patient and friendly service. She was super nice and the end result was PERFECT! She took before and after photo's and spent time showing us the results. Her in-house makeup studio is very professional and clean. Best makeup job i have ever recieved. Would Highly recommend her. She even gave us a sample size lip color to reapply/ touch up through out the wedding day. Love her!

I went to Amy to do a trial for my wedding (May 2016). I have only had my makeup done professionally one other time, so I was a little nervous, but Amy was really warm and kind. She talked me through everything she was doing, so I felt comfortable and have a good idea of what to expect on the real day. Amy answered all of my questions and was really helpful thinking through how to map out the day. My bridesmaids and I can't wait to work with Amy next spring. We know she'll work her magic and make everyone feel and look great!

Amy did a wonderful job doing my make-up for my son's wedding. She was willing to meet me at 6 :30 in the morning to get me ready for the morning ceremony, and then again at 4 p.m. for the evening reception. Amy is AMAZING! I went in for a bridal trial session and she took all of my thoughts, mixed them with her professional experience and I was highly impressed with the results. I still looked like myself, just a more beautiful version that I cannot wait to show off in a few months at my wedding! Amy knows her stuff, she has tons of makeup and really listens to your opinions during the application process. I was 100% satisfied with my trial, and recommend this to anyone so that Amy can get full vision of what you expect on your big day. I cannot express enough how amazing Amy was. She did my bridal makeup and 4 bridesmaid plus mother of the bride. She showed up 30 minutes early so that she could set up and be ready to go for the first appointment. The schedule went perfectly without a glitch, plus the quality of the makeup was impeccable. All of my girls were so pleased with their look, but most importantly, I felt beautiful. My groom was incredibly happy as well because he felt that despite having bridal makeup on that is necessary for the photos, I still looked like "me", which meant that Amy captured who I am and allowed me to look the best version of myself on my wedding day. I am very grateful for the amazing service Amy provided to me and will recommend her to all brides!

Amy was a delight to work with. She was incredibly conscious and sensitive to my time and schedule. Before entering her lovely little studio, we chatted about my needs, her style, and her ideas as to what she would like to do to give me the perfect look for my outdoor Engagement photo shoot. Amy walked me through all of her products and explained why she chose to use them and where I may be able to purchase them for myself. The experience was, overall, lovely. She was kind, attentive, and a real artist.

I had a makeup lesson with Amy today and found her to be very knowledgeable, friendly, and good at applying and teaching makeup techniques. I appreciated her wisdom about the products and how to apply them. She helped me find better ways to highlight my features and gave me confidence in applying my own makeup. I would recommend her to anyone looking for new ways to bring out their beauty. She knows a lot about all the different kinds of brushes and makeup. She took the time to explain everything to me and give me a list of recommended products, without pressuring me to buy any. She also has some things in mind before I got there and was ready to get started right away. It was well worth the money! I want to say a big thank you to Amy. I am going through chemotherapy and have lost most of eyebrows and lashes. I wanted to find someone who could help me with my makeup now that my face has changed quite a bit. Amy was very kind and had many great ideas. She taught me how to make my eyes, skin and face look so much better. Amy was encouraging and just what I needed to look and feel better during chemotherapy.

I found Amy online when I was searching one for someone to give me a make -up lesson as a birthday present for myself:) My experience with Amy far surpassed my expectations. She has an extensively equipped and entirely professional home studio and a great deal of expertise and passion for working with make-up. She went above and beyond to tailor my "lesson" to exactly meet my needs. We had a great time working together and I love the results. What an awesome experience!

Most of the time, "you get what you paid for," rings true. Except for Amy. She is truly, truly talented and applies just incredibly beautiful makeup. She knows she can charge more, but she prefers to remain accessible to everyone. Her website and blog are amazing, and her passion comes through with every face. We did two trials, because I love makeup and wear quite a bit regularly so I wanted to make sure it was extra special for the wedding day. She listened to exactly what I wanted and created a look that was made me feel better than I've ever felt. Ya ya, beauty comes from within, but it doesn't hurt on the outside either! Book Amy, and all her high end products and airbrush machine, for half or a third of the price that less talented artists with sub-par products are charging. You won't be disappointed.

Amy Miranda did a fabulous job with my makeup! I went to her house in Ashburn, VA with my maid of honor to do a trial-run today, 6 months before my wedding. She spent an hour and a half doing my makeup expertly and walking me through the entire process. She uses high quality products and has a huge selection of wonderful products that are safe and flawless on the skin. I loved the way I looked and the attention to detail. I cannot wait for her to do my makeup for my wedding next year and would highly recommend her! On the day of the wedding she will come to my hotel, and do makeup for all of my bridesmaids. Her prices are extremely reasonable for this area and for the quality of service she provides.

I am a 62 year old Asian women whose son is getting married. I don't normally wear make-up or even own a tube of lipstick and am allergic to many products so this whole make-up process was a bit daunting but I so wanted to look nice for the wedding. Amy was such a great listener about all my concerns, was so interested in what I was wearing so that the make-up could enhanced the whole effect, an amazing teacher in explaining what she was doing and why, and very gentle in her application. I was absolutely thrilled with the outcome that I thought was tailored just for me; I looked and felt 10 years younger! It was a wonderful experience that I enjoyed on so many levels. You really feel like you had a friend who cared about making you be the best that you could be. I could highly recommend her and don't think you could go wrong in putting yourself in her very capable and highly experienced hands.

Amy is terrific. This review is based on my makeup trial with her today. She is a true pro and pays great attention to detail. I went in not knowing quite what I wanted and really let her take the reins for the trial. She did an amazing job, the transformation was truly incredible. Amy was also very open to my critique after wearing the makeup for the day. After a while I decided I wanted a few adjustments to the look for my big day and she was so open to hearing my preferences after wearing the makeup. I can't wait to have Amy do my wedding in September on my wedding day. Her prices are reasonable and she's extremely pleasant to be around. She uses high quality makeup as well, you can barely feel like you have anything one. I highly recommend using Amy for any of your makeup needs.

I found Amy via Wedding Wire for my November 2013 wedding, and after reading so many good things about her work, was definitely interested in having her do my wedding makeup. Once I read about her prices, I thought, "this must be too good to be true!" I am happy to say it is not! She does incredibly high quality work, with excellent products, in an expeditious manner. She is kind, personable, and professional. She was flexible to travel from her home to do makeup for myself, my mother, and my aunt, verrry early on a Sunday morning before our wedding. I was looking for a make up artist for my May 2014 wedding and found Amy's website. I read so much good reviews and I decided to email her. She replied right away and gave me a price quote. Her price is so affordable. I had my bridal trial yesterday and the results were great!
She makes you feel comfortable, listens to you and gives you the exact look you are looking for. She's amazing! Her studio is clean, so organized and she's using high end make up line which lasted the whole day. I will definitely recommend her! This is a follow up on how AMY did an excellent job on my wedding day (5-24-14). I couldn't ask for more... AMY is an exceptional talented make up artist! She finished all our make up on time. All of our make up lasted all day long. And we all look fabulous! She handles everyone professionally. I found Amy's website very randomly, while looking for a makeup artist for my sister's wedding, for the bride, mother of the bride, and the rest of the bridesmaids. I saw good reviews so we called her for a quote and trial. Amy really worked with our budget and size of the party, and the bridal trial results were better than we anticipated! Yesterday, November the 16th, was the day of the wedding. Not only did the bride look flawless, but so did the rest of the party, including myself. Our makeup never smeared or melted away. We loved that she created each of our looks based on our individual preferences/style, varied facial features and our skin tones. She made sure each of us looked like a flawless version of ourselves. My mother was also extremely happy with her makeup. Unlike many artists, when it comes to older women, they rarely do a good job. Amy is tasteful, and creates the makeup look to make sure it compliments this age group. My mother received so many compliments as well. Amy herself is the sweetest lady, so easy to work with, and very good at what she does. She uses only high-end products, and her application technique is very clean. I can't wait until we have to use Amy's services again, she is worth every penny and more.

Amy was delightful to work with. I have never had my makeup done by anyone, I heard about airbrush and wasn't sure how it would turn out. Amy was AMAZING! She was available last minute for my makeup and my mothers makeup the day of my wedding. She is truly talented at what she does and has a gift at making you look your most beautiful. She does age appropriate makeup, it was light, fresh and not caked on. I loved my makeup the day of my wedding and was surprised that it lasted the whole day even in the 90+ degree heat! She was prompt and so calm the day of. Also, her prices were phenomenal compared to many of the other vendors I researched. I just adore her and will definitely recommend her to friends and family.

Amy is the most wonderful and talented make up artist in the Nova/DC area! She did my wedding day make-up, all of my bridesmaids and my mother! She is professional, responsive and will make you look so beautiful the day of! Her rates are incredibly low compared to all the other make up artists I spoke to. She uses high quality make up and brings a make-up chair and a ridiculous amount of make-up the day of. I wanted someone who is skilled in eye make-up; my wedding was an evening wedding and my makeup looked flawless in the photos! Amy was wonderful! I had originally planned on having a family friend do my make-up but two months before my wedding she found out her niece was getting married on the same day. Amy's prices are incredibly reasonable and the finished product was amazing. My skin is sensitive and has always been very red and the makeup she used was not only gentle on my skin but also kept the red away all day. I highly recommend the trial run, it is definitely worth it! I got a chance to try out the fake lashes (though I ultimately went with mascara because the look was a little too dramatic for my 11am wedding) and it also gave me a chance to see how it would all look and allow me to make changes and be completely satisfied with my wedding day look. Amy was prompt to the church and always very responsive to my emails. I highly recommend her and wouldn't hesitate to call her for any future occasions!

Amy did an amazing job on both myself and my mother for my wedding. In my trial, I commented that my make up was a bit too heavy for me & on the actual day of the wedding she adjusted it to the perfect level. It lasted all day, through the heat! I've never seen my mom look so beautiful! Amy also did my 11 year old niece's make up for the wedding & it was simply perfect for her. Amy arrived early and was very professional. Amy did a great job with my make-up and the make-up for my 5 bridesmaids and my mother. She was very responsive and friendly and made me feel comfortable and confident in her abilities from our first email exchange. I sent her a picture of myself and told her a little bit about what I wanted but decided not to do a trial prior to the wedding. I did not regret that decision. My make-up looked great and lasted through a very hot outdoor reception. For my bridesmaids, she gave everyone a different look that worked with their coloring but also complimented the dress color. Each of the girls were happy with the way their make-up turned out. I would definitely recommend Amy.

Amy Miranda was a wonderful makeup artist! She did my makeup and my sister's makeup for my wedding in August 2009 and I was very pleased with her work. I am so happy that I found Amy Miranda only three weeks before my wedding. I was going to do my make-up myself, but I am thrilled that I changed my mind at the last minute. Amy Miranda has great communication skills, was quick to respond/answer any questions that I had, and she was efficient in her work. She arrived at the hotel ahead of schedule and got to work. Amy is great! I really enjoyed meeting her and having her do makeup for me and my sister on my wedding day. She came to Northern Virginia from Germantown for the trial and the day-of and she was on time and very professional and friendly both times. She spent a lot of time with me and listened to what I wanted and really tried to compliment my personal style and style and time of day of the wedding. I wanted a very natural look and she achieved it beautifully. She is very knowledgeable about makeup and colors and steered me in the right direction, but allowed me to make choices, which I appreciated.
Amy is also skilled in working with oily skin and problem skin. I have oily skin and was worried about looking shiny halfway through my wedding day, but she used a great product that worked marvelously. I didn't even need to touch up! My sister has a little trouble with her skin and Amy used products that made her look beautiful! She also offered to supply us with touch-up makeup, but didn't pressure us to buy. She came on time and very well prepared for both of our appointments and made us feel completely at ease and comfortable. I would recommend her to any bride in search of an affordable and professional makeup artist!

I cannot say enough good things about Amy! She did an amazing job on my makeup for my trial, which I did the same day as my engagement shoot to kill two birds with one stone. The makeup lasted almost all day through the 90-degree heat outside - and my fake eyelashes lasted even after a 30-minute mountain hike! She was friendly, listened to what I wanted, explained what she was doing and using, was very professional and overall was someone I felt I could trust. Amy was great. She was very reassuring through the whole planning process and offered great advice. I loved my make-up. I would recommend a trial run as it really helped to get my look down. My prom was coming up in 2 months and I was worried that I couldn't find a makeup artist. I have asian eyes (monolid) and i was afraid that no makeup artist could make me look fabulous on my oh so special night. And suddenly I found Amy Miranda's makeup website. I couldn't believe I found a makeup artist who could apply makeup on so many different ethnicities! I made an appointment with Amy and the day of prom she came earlier then I expected (which is a good thing because I hate when people are not punctual). I had horrible acne at the time and she made me look AMAZING. I looked flawless! I have to admit my eyeshadow was a bit extreme but I definitely stood out at prom. Finding a make-up artist seemed to be the hardest part of wedding planning. So many seemed to do make-up for professional photo shoots that did not translate into the natural kind of make-up that I realized looked the best for a wedding. She was extremely professional, prompt, and helpful all-around. She purchased all of the “back-up” make-up I would need for the night at a discount. She always talked through what she was applying and why and had a nice balance of asking what you liked and providing her professional opinion on colors and looks.

I was very happy with the makeup Amy did for me, my maid of honor, and my mother on my wedding day. I was originally trying to cut costs by skipping the trial session, but in the end decided to do it and I'm very happy I did. Amy considered my feedback and comments from the trial and the final wedding day makeup was great!

My only qualms were that she was half an hour late on the day of the wedding (added a bit of stress, but ended up not being a big problem) and that the airbrush makeup doesn't hold up well to crying. There were tear tracks down my cheeks after the ceremony and I only hope they don't show up in the photos!

Overall, Amy's service was very good and affordable.

Amy was very difficult to deal with. Getting a hold of her was difficult. I had my trial with Amy and she asked me to bring over photos and ideas that I wanted, which I did. When arriving she listened to what I wanted, but went against everything that I had asked for. Yes she said she did what she thought was best for me but it was nothing that I am used to wearing. She placed heavy and dark eyeliner when I asked for thin. She placed bright pink when I asked for neutral lipstick, and she placed shimmer eye shadow when I asked for something neutral and not shimmery. She did not listen very well and still did what she wanted. I informed her that I was unhappy.
When speaking to her on the phone she got very aggressive and rude and my fiancé heard the entire conversation.
She does not care about the bride she is in it for the money.
She wouldn't even meet with me for a second chance to fix her mistakes and since they were her mistakes she still wanted to charge me more. I didn't ask for anything that she did and she still wouldn't own up to it. All she kept saying was I do what I believe is best, well she falsely advertised when she asked me what she wanted. I had her for my trial and decided that I could not deal with someone like this on my wedding day and decided to go elsewhere and I was extremely pleased.

I also had a signed contract and she send me a long email canceling the contract with her because she was unwilling to give me another trial because of her mistakes in not listening to what I wanted. Yes she is the professional and knows best but it comes to a time where you also need to listen to your clients and what they feel comfortable with. And I did NOT feel comfortable with shimmery eye shadow, pink lipstick and very heavy eyeliner.

Yes she will write below my comment to fight for her own argument, but I would look elsewhere.
