Incredible Experience!

From the moment we reached out to Amphora Catering, we knew we were in great hands. Event Designer (Xochitl Gutierrez) answered all of my questions, kept close track of our details, and brought a level of calm and professionalism to our wedding planning process that took away so much of my anxiety. The food was incredible and all of our guests raved about it. Some of our favorites were the fall salad with blueberry dressing, the orzo, and the salmon. Portions were abundant and everyone left well fed. All staff (bartenders, servers, etc.) were attentive and kind, always checking in. We went home with lots of leftovers and full hearts! Their sister company, Amphora Bakery, also made us the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake - it was great having them as a vendor, as Amphora Catering could communicate delivery and set up directly. We planned our wedding for 110 in under 3 months and could not have done it without Amphora! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

DELICIOUS and reliable!

We hired Amphora for our wedding in NOVA and we are so happy we did. We worked with Xochitl for many months and she was always helpful and responsive. Their pricing is clear and fair, and the team was very flexible with our last minute guest count changes. The team was well staffed and efficient on the wedding day itself. All the food they served was literally amazing. It got seriously rave reviews from our guests and everything we got to eat was so good. They packed up the leftovers for us, but our guests loved it so much that there wasn't much left over! Cannot recommend them enough.

Such an Incredible Experience!!

We truly cannot recommend Amphora enough!! They catered our wedding in October of 2024, and they were a highlight of our day! Their food was absolutely delicious and very affordable. Their team also just had amazing energy, and made every step of the planning process fun! From the tastings to our emails back and forth, to the day of, their team was so thoughtful and engaging. They were also able to accommodate a lot of dietary restrictions, and were able to make some phenomenal vegan dishes, including some exceptional vegan donuts!!!! It was clear that their whole team cared about making our wedding a special day, all of their hard work was so meaningful from the decorative napkin folding to giving the bride and groom their own special snack after the ceremony. If you're looking for a caterer, Amphora is the place to go!!

Great Food and Service

From beginning to end, working with Amphora Catering (especially Xochitl) was amazing! Our venue recommended Amphora as their preferred caterer, and we had tried Amphora's delicious food on several occasions via other events we had attended at the venue, so we were already somewhat familiar with their product. The food, attention to detail from Xochitl and her team, service, professionalism, and bartending were all well worth the price we paid. We received many compliments from our guests on the food. Xochitl was an absolute pleasure to work with, and she answered every question we had and made us comfortable with all our decisions. We also appreciated her attention to detail and thoughtfulness throughout the whole process.

A wonderful catering company to work with

We've been working with Amphora Catering (and Amphora Bakery) since 2019 as we selected them for our 2020 wedding. I've truly enjoyed working with Xochitl over these past years. She and her team have extremely patient with us after each reschedule due to the pandemic. She walked my husband and I through the process in 2019 when we selected the different appetizers, entrees, linens, tableware, etc. They are transparent and give you a very detailed contract so you understand what is included in the costs. She made the process easy for us and always had info ready for us whenever we asked questions. Since then, she was always responsive even when she was not in office. I was pleased with her and her staff on the day of our wedding day (finally!) on Friday, May 13th. They really did such a good job taking care of us. She even checked in with us a couple of times during the wedding to make sure we were okay. The food was amazing! We very much appreciate Xochitl as we built a great working relationship with her. I highly recommend Amphora Catering to any couple. If you are looking for a wedding cake too, they also have a bakery!

You Cannot Go Wrong With Amphora

I worked very closely with Xochtil. We pushed our wedding back a year due to covid and a deployment and then it rained all day on our wedding day.
Xochtil and team made sure every detail from signage to catering to food at dinner and cocktail hour was amazing. We had it all. The beef, salmon and chicken as well as potatoes , salad, three different appetizers from different parts of the world. ALL GREAT! Our guests who live in the area are now also using amphora. They were troopers during our wedding and the food was amazing - it was NOT ‘cheap chicken’ that tastes like cardboard like many weddings!
At the end of the day they helped me clear up . Basically the customer service is second to NONE. Food is so important at a wedding! They delivered!!!
I will return to Amphora for future occasions! You will NOT be disappointed!!!

Wonderful (and delicious) experience with Amphora!

If one of the few things people remember about weddings is how good the food was, Amphora will make sure your guests remember your wedding for a long time! Xochitl was incredible at helping us plan our menu - she helped us easily make changes as COVID changed our plans and made sure all the related details were taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and Xochitl made it an easy process! Definitely recommend Amphora!

Amphora is an excellent caterer!

Before finding Amphora, I had reached out to many caterers who did not really listen to my vision or requirements and tried to push me into options I did not want. It was such a relief to work with Xochitl! She came up with options that fit both my budget and vision. The quality of food was excellent, portion sizes were generous, table linens were high quality, and her team was very attentive to my guests and my husband and I, making sure we were always fed and had a drink in hand!

Amazing food

We absolutely loved working with Amphora Catering. Our venue gave us a list of catering companies that we were able to use and they highly recommended Amphora. When we went for our tasting, we tried so much food and we loved every bit of food that we tasted. Xochitl was so accommodating to our needs and answered every question that we had about from the menu to the timeline of everything. She was kind and answered every question, she was fast with e-mailing us back when we had a random question about anything. After our tasting, we immediately booked them and did not try any other catering companies after them. We loved their food that much! Leading up to the day, Xochitl was able to help us by figuring out how many drinks we needed for the wedding and coordinating vegetarian meals for our vegetarian guests. On the day of the wedding, they set up everything from the tables and chairs to the buffet station in no time flat. We had passed hors d'oeuvres, the staff even brought some out to us and our wedding party so that we could eat in-between photos being taken. Everyone could not stop saying how amazing they were, we got the shaved steak, coconut shrimp, and rosemary chicken skewers. For dinner, we had a buffet, but due to COVID they wanted everyone to be safe and they served our guests when they arrived at the buffet station. The vegetarian meals were delivered to their tables for them. We had the chicken in a cream sauce, steak with a chardonnay sauce, and mushroom ravioli for our entrees. Our sides were mashed potatoes and vegetables that were displayed in a flower formation with a balsamic glaze. My uncle is a very picky eater and he could not stop eating the chicken and wanted the recipe for himself! The steak was tender and melted in your mouth as you ate it. My husband fell in love with the vegetables and was even eating carrots which are rare! Let's just say, the food was talked about by all the guests and my family still talks about the chicken. The staff from Amphora catering were friendly and discrete when they were cleaning up and serving people. Xochitl was there and she made sure that we ate food which is hard for the bride and groom to do at their wedding and she made sure that we had everything that we needed. She boxed up the leftovers for us and we were able to enjoy it again the next night as well. We didn't have a lot of leftovers which tells us how much our guests loved the food. We can not thank Amphora and Xochitl enough for their services and we highly recommend them for anyone's wedding!

Highly Recommend!!

Amphora Catering was the perfect choice for our wedding! We met with several vendors to sample appetizers and entrees but nothing compared to Amphora. The presentation, quality and taste exceeded our expectations. We worked with Xochitl for our event and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was professional, extremely helpful, returned calls and emails within a timely manner, flexible with my schedule and truly helped make our day special! Her experience with weddings helped guide me with decor decisions and helped my vision come to life. She made sure our special day looked absolutely beautiful and went as smooth as possible. The staff was professional, polite and did an amazing job. Everyone raved about how delicious the food tasted and how elegant the presentation was. Amphora and Xochitl MADE our wedding day

Xochitl was so helpful through the whole process. Her expertise in all things wedding, not just catering, really helped us get to the big day. She had great communication, was extremely responsive, and gave us confidence that the day would be amazing. On our wedding day, Xochitl did everything she could to make sure the day was delicious and beautiful. The majority of our guests were from out-of-town and had been to many weddings. They ALL raved about the delicious food. Amphora Catering and Xochitl were the absolute best choices for our wedding.

Affordable, Flexible, and Delicious!

The team at Amphora was absolutely excellent! I was attempting to plan a wedding from across the country and they were so flexible, accommodating, and professional. Not to mention the food was AMAZING! We had so many compliments on how tasty and well-prepared everything was. They were affordable and were willing to work within out budget which I really appreciated. Great experience with Amphora

We had Amphora cater three events over our wedding weekend: our rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch, in addition to the actual wedding meal. All the food was delicious, and we got many compliments from our guests about it. We worked with Amphora to provide a dessert table as well instead of serving a traditional wedding cake, and all the desserts were amazing.

We worked with Xochitl to coordinate all three meals, and were extremely thankful for her responsiveness, professionalism, and suggestions. She had experience working with our venue, and was able to help us make decisions about floor plans and timelines based on her experience. We sent her many, many emails in the months leading up to the wedding, and she always responded quickly with all the answers we needed. In the midst of stressful wedding planning, we always felt better after talking to Xochitl- we had no question that she had everything under control.

Xochitl and the rest of the Amphora staff went above and beyond and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer!

Loved our wedding food!

Loved Amphora! I am so glad we decided to go w/ them for our wedding. My husband and I did a cocktail reception with heavy-passed appetizers and stations (rather than a plated dinner), plus late-night snacks and the food was delicious! Got multiple compliments from our guests. Some of our favorites included lollipop lamb chops, fajitas, chicken satay, goat cheese tartlets and mini crab cakes. From helping us formulate a menu to the day of - the whole Amphora team were professionals throughout. I should note that we did multiple tastings with other caterers that were SUBSTANTIALLY more expensive than Amphora - for seemingly the same amount of food. Would highly recommend them - great food for a great value!

We worked with Amphora for our wedding on 25 August. Amphora had the best prices for food a bar package among the caterers we surveyed in the DC area. We were able to set up a tasting quickly due to the fast and detailed correspondence of the Amphora staff. The tasting room was our first clue that we had chosen the right caterer, with its beautiful decorations and displays of what Amphora was capable of. Throughout the planning of our wedding, Amphora staff went above and beyond to help us with our menu and were on site during our venue walk through at Oatlands - the two vendors have a great relationship with each other! During the wedding, Amphora staff made sure we were comfortable and even has staff dedicated to us to ensure we had time to eat during the busy day. Xochitl, our point of contact for the wedding day was so nice and accommodating and I heard from numerous family members that she made a point to ensure everything was going smoothly. Amphora behaved with such integrity and professionalism, not to mention the food was awesome, that I would recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer - no matter the event type.

We used Amphora Catering for our wedding reception at Brookside Gardens. They were amazing in every way! The food was delicious and the service was great. Xochitl was our main contact from start to finish and she exceeded our expectations in all ways. She's so knowledgeable and experienced that she could anticipate any complications and knew exactly how to put the right touches on everything. We had planned to do an outdoor reception, but the weather didn't cooperate. She helped to make the indoor space beautiful and offered to set up a bonus cocktail area in the atrium that was a great addition and use of the space. She and her staff were also great when it came to set up and take down- they even helped us to unload our cars and packed up all of our leftovers for us. And the most important part- the food was delicious!! Couldn't have asked for a better experience :) Highly recommend Amphora- they take care of you from start to finish and they will make sure your event is a success!

We loved our experience with Amphora, and wholeheartedly recommend them as a wedding caterer. After researching over 30 caterers and reaching out to a handful of them, we knew Amphora was perfect. Our wonderful experience with them started when we met Xochitl for our tasting. After telling her our venue, she hand-drew from memory a possible layout of all the food, chairs, tables, and bars. Immediately we could tell the level of attention and detail she would put into making sure everything was exactly as we wanted for the wedding. She was always prompt, professional, accommodating, and extremely friendly. Working with her was always delightful and made planning much less stressful. She attended the entire reception and looked after everything herself, which was reassuring. The day of everything was perfect, and ran exactly how we expected and hoped for.

Now to the food – it was delicious. Over a dozen guests told us during the wedding and over the following days we had the best wedding food they’d ever eaten. Amphora’s tasting experience was great and sold us on choosing them. We tried a wide-range of the dishes and hors d'oeuvres we were considering. We chose the buffet option for dinner and couldn’t be more pleased with the quality and service. Everything was cooked to perfection. They accommodated our request to change the standard set of options, serving an additional main entrée of the butternut squash ravioli. Not only were we impressed with the tastiness of the hors d'oeuvres, but there were plenty served in constant circulation.

Easily one of the best choices we made in our whole wedding planning saga was to hire Amphora Catering. Xochitl was an absolute rock star. Not only did she cover with the traditional food, table, chair, and china choices, but she helped us figure out exactly how the evening should flow, the best way to flip the room from ceremony to reception, where the buffet should go, etc., even going as far as to send us pictures of other weddings she worked at our venue in the meantime so we could see different options in the space itself. On the food side of things, I can’t count the number of complements we got. Everyone loved the creativity and selection Amphora offered, and the cake balls disappeared in the blink of an eye! The staff working the day-of were equally amazing. They helped set up the space before the ceremony, made us plates so we didn’t forget to eat, guided guests through the buffet line, as a few examples of the many ways their hard work made our wedding perfect. I worked with Xochitl at Amphora and she was great! She was incredibly professional and experienced. She responded to emails within 48 hours even if she was sick or out of town (not that I would every expect that, but how is that for customer service!). She was very flexible with us. She probably re-drafted our proposal a dozen times as we made changes. We ordered some specialty linens from another company, and she was very easy going about that, which I understand may not always be the case since the caterer would prefer you use what they provide.
Our guests were raving about the food. Amphora creates really delicious meals that appear to be very complex, but are simple enough to please most taste buds! We did a seated/plated dinner and had salmon and beef tenderloin which were both amazing. They were very flexible and allowed me to pick two different sides since the salmon and beef were just so different that one side for all wouldn't work for both plates.
The service was incredible. The staff were so nice and made sure that my husband and I got served at least one of each of the passed appetizers. The servers were quick and made sure that dinners were passed out quickly so that no one was sitting and waiting for their meal for too long. It was an absolutely incredible dinner (at least I thought so!).
As far as value goes, all caterers in the DMV are going to be expensive. Especially if you want good food. You can save yourself a little money here and there, but at the end of the day the caterer should be your most expensive line-item anyways. Amphora ranks about in the middle in terms of cost. I did a lot of research and broke down all of the proposals I received and Amphora was the best bang for your buck.
I did find a piece of plastic wrap in my salad, but I can understand how easily that could happen when you are unwrapping 130 salads at lightening speed. Overall it was fantastic, so I can't let one small piece of plastic wrap ruin all of that.

Amphora met the dietary challenges for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free guests with a selection of cakes and cupcakes. These items were so delicious that even guest without allergies were raving about the taste. This selection enhanced the celebration by including those with serious allergies who otherwise would have been excluded from dessert. It was a small detail with a big bonus effect in guest satisfaction and happiness. We loved it and they loved it. And by the way, the regular wedding cake was beautiful and delicious.

Amphora was simply amazing! We did a different type of reception and went with a tapas style dinner. At first I was not sure if it would be enough food, but they served food for 3 hours, passing around heavy appetizers! Our guests LOVED it-- it was very special and unique, and made our wedding even better! Our cupcakes were amazing! We also had a flat bread station--- toward the end of the night, simply amazing! Amphora you guys rocked it! We got a deal! Thank you!

Such a great experience working with Amphora Bakery for our wedding cake! We were able to do a personalized cake tasting at the bakery prior to our wedding, which was absolutely delicious :P I don’t think I’ve eaten that much cake in one sitting before. I was in heaven! We worked with Maryam throughout the whole planning process. She was really wonderful and assisted us in selecting the perfect cake that also worked with our hotel package. She also helped us to match everything to our wedding colors. We ended up selecting alternating layers of chocolate mousse and amaretto cake. So delicious!! When I walked into the ballroom for the bride and groom entrance one of the first things I noticed was the cake. It was gorgeous and looked just like the model in the store. I would highly recommend Amphora Bakery for anyone who would like the perfect wedding cake!

I absolutely loved our experience using Amphora Catering for our August 6, 2016 wedding. Our venue, The Winery at Bull Run, required us to choose from a short list of preferred caterers and I am SO glad we picked Amphora! Xochitl and her team were so accommodating and flexible throughout the planning process. On the night of our wedding, they made sure my husband and I got to try some of the passed hors d'oeuvres before the reception, and Xochitl brought plates from the buffet to us at our sweetheart table. Our guests also enjoyed the popcorn and dessert stations! Amphora created custom cookies for our favors which were beautiful. Overall, Amphora is worth every penny and will go to great lengths to make sure your day goes off without a hitch!

Amphora Catering provided us with a delicious southern comfort buffet, sweet tea and lemonade refreshments, and worked with us to design the event space fitting with our rustic venue- wine barrels with slate boards, burlap linens and gorgeous farm tables to name a few. Amphora Catering is more than just a menu to choose from, they really act like a full-service wedding planning firm. On the day of the wedding Xochitl stepped in to not only coordinate the set up of the furniture rental, linens and food and beverage, but also handled the floral set-up and coordinated with the venue contact to ensure that the night went smoothly. When my husband and I entered the venue we were literally speechless. Some couples lament that something always goes wrong on your wedding day, but we couldn't have felt further from that. Our day was perfect and it was no doubt due to Xochitl. The venue looked gorgeous and the food was absolutely delicious- we even got enough leftovers packed up to feed us for a week! We highly recommend Amphora Catering for all of your event needs as they are a truly exceptional small business in NOVA.

Amphora Catering did a fantastic job of catering our wedding. They were very responsive and willing to help us out with any request or question we had. We worked mostly with Xochitl who was very knowledgeable on how our venue worked and made sure everything ran smoothly. The set up at the venue was beautiful and we didn't have to lift a finger! Not to mention the food was delicious and we received so many compliments!! I would definitely recommend Amphora to anyone who is looking for a wonderful wedding experience!

I cannot recommend Amphora enough! They were one of many caterers on our venue's preferred list. They were by far the easiest to work with! Very quick response times, and knowledgeable and professional staff! We had a super small wedding (19 total) and honestly had a hard time with several vendors giving us the time of day. Not the case with Amphora! We had such a fun time at our tasting, picking out our menu with Candace. Our wedding was this past Friday and everything was amazing!! We ran super behind schedule and I was worried about how they would keep our food fresh and tasting good, but they clearly know what they are doing! Their staff at our wedding were great, and everything was just perfect!

We got a tiramisu cake for our wedding and it was amazing. We worked w/ Kay to get ideas and formulate the design of our cake and it turned out amazing. We received so many compliments from our friends and family about the cake. Somehow I had to wait a few days to eat the cake but when I did, it was amazing. We had gone in to Amphora just to try the tiramisu, but the cake was not made as a traditional tiramisu; I believe it was more of a standard cake w/ tiramisu design, filling, and flavoring. Regardless of it being cake vs lady fingers, it was delicious!

I cannot say enough about Amphora and our POC Candace. Whatever was asked, changed or requested last minute the staff was there. Candace moved through our event like a magical genie making sure my husband and I were satisfied.
They incorporated our movie theme throughout our wedding, adding movie reels, clappers and projectors throughout the wedding.
The food was outstanding!!!! We received so many praises on dinner. Especially the braised beef rib, it was to die for! The only complaint my husband and I had was we didn't get to taste the delicious chicken wings before they were all gone.
I cannot thank Amphora, Candace and her crew enough. We will definitely use this company for future events.

I would highly recommend Amphora for your catering! They provided service and food of a five star restaurant. The presentation of the food was amazing. The food on the buffet stayed hot from the first guest to the last one. Our guests could not stop talking about their appetizers: specifically their crab dip, artichoke and spinach dip, and their chicken and waffles. Munira was fabulous to work with. She made sure everything you wanted was done exactly as you requested. The bride and groom felt like they were treated like royalty. Highly recommend Amphora!!

I have used Amphora's Bakery for years and only because their cakes are so delicious! I had attended an event that was catered by Amphora and knew then that I would want them to cater my wedding. Five stars all the way. Once we sat for a tasting, we knew the food would be good. Marcelo and Patricia worked with us for about a year to make my daughter's wedding flawless. They helped with the setup of our décor and helped to keep everyone cool. The service and setup during cocktail hour and dinner was exceptional. Our guests had only to nod and someone was there to take care of their needs. Cleanup was taken care of very efficiently and everyone left the facility within an hour and half, leaving the place spotless. The cake from Amphora Bakery was beautiful and just exactly what my daughter ordered. Thank you, Amphora, for taking such good care of us on such a special day!

amphora catering provided 4 different food tastings almost 8 months ago. from the choice of colors of the table cloth, overlay, napkin, glass and silverware settings, we came away with an excellent feeling of achieving a monumental task made easy because of their expertise and attention to detail. our choice of dishes and table settings provided an elegant and delicious display not just at the wedding cocktail reception and dinner, but the rehearsal dinner and brunch as well. the wedding cake was perflect and elegant, the variety of desserts, including wedding cookies, were tasty and sweet and adorned the table in an attractive way. the omelette station and other breakfast foods at the brunch added a final touch to 3 days of continuous celebrations. our guests kept going back for more. they raved about the excellent quality of the food and desserts. we are not surprised by the awards amphora has won in the previous years as being the best caterers in the northern virginia area because we experienced the superb quality of their service ourselves. our wedding was beautiful and amphora made sure our dream came true. naima, brittany and petros: we don't know how to thank you for ensuring the catering ran smoothly those three days. thank you for your friendship and excellent business ethics. you are the best. more power to amphora catering and bakery in the future. hope you keep winning awards which you so richly deserve.

Amphora catered our wedding at the Winery at Bull Run in October 2013. The food was truly amazing! Our guests loved the meal and all of the appetizers! We could not have been happier with Amphora Catering. One of the biggest reasons for that was our coordinator, Patricia from Amphora, she is incredible!! She made our entire catering process so simple and she was on top of every detail. She provided guidance and advice to help us make our catering decisions, but always highlighted that our wedding was for us and she was willing to make anything happen. I cannot say enough about Amphora. From the very beginning of the planning process Amphora was wonderful. They understood my vision and offered great suggestions to add to it. Working with Angela at the start of the process was seamless, and she is very professional and personable. Our tasting day was great, I felt like we went to a restaurant for a reservation! Also, she was able to provide us with fresh cupcakes to taste from the bakery so we did not have to come back out for a second cake tasting. At one point, there was a billing snag, but they quickly fixed it. Patricia then handled our day of planning and was fantastic. From our walk through to day off, she was responsive and flexible. She and the staff (along with the Winery at Bull Run) set up everything beautifully and were great during the whole day. The food was AMAZING and I am still receiving compliments. Also, we got our cake and cupcakes from Amphora Bakery. Brittany was also great to work with and the cake and cupcakes were decorated just like we discussed. They also tasted great! I also feel that Amphora has many options to work with your budget and for the area are very reasonably priced especially for the quality of service and food. My husband and I decided to renew our vows after 10 years together and a disasterous wedding. Amphora was our dream caterer and exceeded our already high expectations for our September 2013 wedding. From the initial consultation to wedding day, they were such a pleasure to work with--particularly Angela, the Director. They blew us away during the tasting and provided additional dishes on the spot spurred by discussion. They were very accommodating of my gluten intolerance and made all dinner entrees gluten-free as well as our special bride and groom 6" cake. Instead of a large wedding cake, we opted for a variety of mini cupcakes with assorted frosting as dessert for our guests, which received rave reviews. The food itself was scrumptious the entire night, and several guests commented that it was the best wedding food they ever tasted. (Highly recommend the portobello mushroom entree--even the meat eaters of our crowed picked that as their favorite). We opted for a family style dinner, which was very fun and matched our homey, intimate theme. The staff was very friendly and helpful the entire night. Even the display and presentation was picture perfect! We enjoyed working with Amphora and Angela so much while planning for the wedding that we booked them for the Rehearsal Dinner, which took place at Amphora Diner in Herndon. The attention to detail, customer service, and sheer deliciousness made it a joy to have them part of our special day.

The best part of choosing Amphora was finding Patricia Simitakos. From day number one, she was there with me every step of the way (even before she had a signed contract) . Always available for my questions, concerns, my 2 tastings and EVERYTHING!! She made the whole experience pleasant and easier. Patricia went above and beyond. Amphora was extremely accommodating throughout the entire process as well. Never pushy, went at my pace 100% of the time. Food was excellent. The Hors d' oeuvres at our cocktail hour where wonderful, the cheese display was magnificent, dinner was perfect and dessert was awesome.

The food here was absolutely amazing and the cake was so scrumptious!! Naima was so amazing to work with. To say that I was impressed by Amphora Catering would be an understatement. From the initial proposal process, to the tasting, site walk-thru, ongoing communications, and day-of execution, Amphora knocked it out of the park.

Our main point of contact Patricia was professional, responsive, and provided superb customer service and consultation. Although our wedding reception was for fewer than 20 people and undoubtedly she had other (and larger) clients, she always made us feel that we were her #1 priority.

The food, staff, service, and ultimate flow of events on the big day was nothing short of fabulous. Guests are still raving about the food (especially the filet mignon) and how elegant everything turned out.

Without hesitation, I would recommend Amphora Catering to any bride-to-be, and frankly to anyone looking to have an event catered with class.

Our team at Amphora, led by Angela, was absolutely fantastic. Marcelo was always responsive to my many questions and they went through several iterations of the menu with us to find the perfect food and drinks. We had a bbq type buffet and appetizers and they were a better value than other strictly bbq caterers and the food was wonderful, I got many compliments on it! The day of the wedding they were on top of everything and took my guidance and supplies and helped decorate the venue perfectly! We couldn't have asked for a better experience! For the cake, we had one tasting and everything was delicious. We had 3 separate cakes and they were all great and everyone enjoyed them!

Wow, there is just NO we could have pulled off our wedding without Angela and her team! She was amazing at every turn. From start to finish, The Amphora Group did a fabulous job catering the wedding we hosted for our son and daughter-in-law. Angela came up with a wonderful menu proposal that beautifully combined both cultural backgrounds, as was our aim. We had a condensed time frame to work with, but they had no problem accommodating it. Everyone there gives you the feeling that the wedding you are planning is the most important one they are doing! The tasting was beyond expectation as were all other meetings and communications. Angela remembered and acted upon all of our questions and requests. What a relief it was to work with such an accommodating and professional group on something as nerve-racking as putting a wedding together!

The food was fantastic both in taste and presentation. We received so many compliments!! The service was also superb!! We were really proud of the elegance that Amphora's food, presentation, and service gave to the wedding. They completely exceeded our expectations.

We also ordered the cake from their bakery department and were equally impressed with the professionalism of Carrie and the other staff there. The cake was exceptional and the auxiliary desserts were gorgeous. Our guests raved about how delicious they were!!

We are truly grateful for the outstanding job Amphora did on the wedding. They made it a very classy event. We will absolutely use them again for any future catered events.

Amphora did a great job on our cake! We had a four-tier cake with two flavors - a lemon flavor and red velvet. Both were fantastic - they actually were better the night of the wedding than at the tasting, which is rare. We went with simple buttercream frosting with Swiss dots and it looked beautiful on top of the great taste. Amphora's prices were far better than many competitors, and their service was exceptional. We had a bizarrely tight timeline leading up to the wedding and they made multiple accommodations for us. My advice: look no further than Amphora bakery for your wedding cake.

We are still getting compliments on our wedding food and even more compliments on our wedding cake. We've had a few people tell us it was the best wedding food they've ever had and that the cake was amazing. We couldn't have been happier with the service. From the tasting to the end of our reception, we were treated so well and the staff was always professional as well as very nice. They even plated food for my elderly grandmother who was having a hard time moving around. They came to ask her what she wanted on her plate and to drink. In addition to all of this, they were wonderful with gently keeping us on schedule and making sure we had opportunities to eat. This was a huge blessing! Thank you so much Amphora!

Amphora is above all elegant. We were actually at the Amphora Diner for the reception (the list has it but wont allow me to add it to my vendor list!)
Even as a diner, this venue was nostalgic, fun and perfect for an elegant evening. The staff was perfect and there for any of the guests who needed anything and the manager was flexible (giving us more space than we originally asked for) to accommodate us last minute! The food was wonderful and they worked hand in hand with the bakery to make sure our cake was there and placed perfectly.

We used Amphora for catering and dessert at my wedding. They were absolutely amazing and so easy to work with. I started out working with Courtney (who was great) who helped me pick all of the linens, china, food, decorations etc. Unfortunately, about 3 months prior to the wedding she had to leave her job to take care of her family. At first I was so nervous/terrified since she had gone into SO much detail with me and knew everything about my wedding and had helped to bring so many other thoughts into the planning process. Then . . . .Marcelo became our coordinator and the rest is history! He did an absolutely PERFECT job before, during and after our wedding day. He hit the ground running! I don't feel like they missed a beat between the transition from Courtney to Marcelo, I was so impressed.

Everyone mentioned how great the food was and that was very important to my parents and I. in addition to the taste, the presentation of the food is what makes Amphora unique. They do not just throw a bunch of food on a plate! It is like an art to the chef and the different coordinators. I found that to be what set them apart from the other caterers that we met with. Everything went so smoothly on the day of, I hadn't been physically able to eat for days before my wedding (I am crazy/nervous, Type A) and I literally think the reception dinner saved my life! Absolutely THRILLED with Amphora cakes! When husband and I came in for our initial tasting, we were seated in a beautiful tasting area and given an assortment of their most popular cakes (we didn't have anything specific in mind when we came in). The cakes were DELICIOUS - picking one was no easy task!

The coordinator spoke with us about the vibe we were looking for and had us react to pictures of past cakes they've done. We asked for a mix of a few different cakes we saw, and Amphora was very flexible and happy to take care of it for us.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding, I had been meaning to give them a call and make sure everything was on track. It kept slipping my mind, but no worries - I was called a week ahead of time to review the contract we'd signed a few months earlier and make sure nothing had changed.

On the day of the wedding we didn't have to worry about a single thing. It was delivered on time, looked gorgeous, and tasted AMAZING (none of those dry nasty fondant cakes you get at other bakeries!) Everyone told us the cake was delicious. I'll definitely be buying a fresh amaretto buttercream cake every year on our anniversary :)

Amphora was reasonably priced, made delicious cakes, treated us like clients and not cattle (some bakeries herd you around during their 'open house' and won't take one-on-one appointments! What is that?!) Not to mention we've been eating their cakes for years at birthday parties. I would absolutely go with them again and highly recommend them to other brides. By the way, save yourself the money and don't get the fondant cake. The buttercream frosting comes out looking so smooth and beautiful and tastes MUCh better!

Our initial meeting with Amphora Bakery was easy and relaxing. They were able to take our style and make the most beautiful wedding cake. The cake was delivered on time and we were amazed by the detailed piping and beautiful gum paste flowers. The colors, style, and detail were absolutely PERFECT!!!

I cannot say enough about these guys. Angela was WONDERFUL to work with -- kind, prompt and highly professional. She helped us find an amazingly delicious menu that was within our budget, spending so much of her time pouring through options with us to make everything possible. She went out of her way to support us in the process, and was constantly available for small details and changes. My jaw dropped when I saw the food, which was even better on the wedding day than it was for our tasting (and it was delicious then!) She was able to provide halal meat to serve to our guests, and the presentation was beautiful. They are a full stop catering shop, which made the planning process much easier. We highly recommend Amphora's Catering!

Amphora was very easy to work with and their cakes are gorgeous! When I was ready to order my grooms cake I simply sent them a picture over email and the cake turned out perfect! Our wedding cake was amazing and was a hit with all of our guests! I would highly recommend Amphora for any event!

This special day for my wife and I turned out to be truly spectacular, I cannot say enough about Amphora Wedding’s catering team and the way they handled the entire event from beginning to end. All of the small details of planning our amazing day were taken care of; they were professional, and always available for our questions and last minute changes. The final presentation was so beautiful, and the food excellent! Our wedding cake was delicious and very fresh, made from scratch!!! We highly recommend Amphora's Wedding-Catering team.

Xochitl of Amphra Catering is truly the best in this wedding/celebration/catering industry. From the moment I spoke with her on the phone to inquire, it was such an easy yes to having Amphora Catering service our wedding. Planning with her was incredibly easy and fun, she listened to everything we wanted and helped out even with payment terms to make things lighter for us. Our complimentary food tasting was seriously one of mine and my husband’s core memory in this wedding process. It was such a joy to experience tasting all the delicious food Amphora can offer. The wedding walk thru with Xochitl was also seamless. And finally, the wedding day itself, we can’t thank you enough Xochitl and the whole Amphora Catering group for such a perfect day. Besides the food being absolutely delicious, the overall process of start to finish with them was a dream for my husband and I. Stress free, fun, collaborative and easy.

Xochitl from start to end was patient, understanding, creative and she carefully paid attention to every detail we had mentioned and asked for. An incredible person! Thank you, Xochitl.

Great for Vegetarians!

My partner and I are both vegetarians, and we knew that at our wedding we wanted all the food to be either vegetarian or vegan. From the outset, this made finding a good fit for catering somewhat difficult. Additionally, we also wanted to avoid the traditional sit-down reception with assigned seating; instead, we wanted our guests to mix and mingle, so we decided we wanted the food to be mainly passed apps. Amphora Catering was perfect for hitting sweet spot on both those points. They had many vegetarian and vegan options to pick from and were very understanding. We chose to have two stations of food as well, grilled summer vegetables with balsamic glaze drizzle and mixed cheese and nuts. My mother-in-law made my wedding cake and cupcakes for all the guests; Amphora was very flexible in working with us on that, and they provided cake cutting equipment at no extra charge. Our guests loved the food and Amphora definitely gets my recommendation!

Amphora catered our wedding at the Winery at Bull Run this month and it was a great decision! Their layouts were beautiful, and our guests actually commented on our food as being amazing. Usually this is one aspect that is brushed over pretty quickly in the midst of alcohol and dancing, but I would definitely recommend Amphora for your events if you want a memorable dining experience as well! The only issue was that it was definitely pricey. Catering is what you will most likely spend the most on!

The food was absolutely delicious. All of our guests have told us how good the appetizers, dinner, and desserts were. During the cocktail hour the waiters were amazing at constantly circulating with appetizers so no one had to search around for food. The quality, taste, and portion size of their food is second to none!

The only issue was with the program they ask you import all of your guest seating arrangements into. We had a last minute table number change and the latest list wasn't pulled to use for setting up the event, therefore there was a mix up with escort cards not matching up with the table numbers. I would advice to send your event coordinator your final floor plan & table assignment list and not assume they will pull it from their program.

The waiters did an excellent job getting our guests their meals quickly and in the end everything was great. Our guests still can't stop raving about the food! Especially the dessert bar, which was almost completely gone at the end of the night, even though we had ordered for 20 more people than were attending.

We used Amphora as our caterer for our wedding at the Winery at Bull Run in June. To say that Amphora went above and beyond our expectations would be a vast understatement. Angela and her team were professional, efficient, and easy to work with from the first tasting. They had wonderful suggestions and their primary goal was always to give Lou and I the wedding we wanted. They worked their tails off the day of the wedding in non-ideal conditions, but their staff were highly efficient, professional and also unobtrusive.

The food was wonderful! We had a selection of passed and plated appetizers during the cocktail hour. We are still hearing rave reviews from our guests! Amphora also set up a really cute Sangria station in addition to the bar. They also handled making all of the place cards, and all I had to do was provide the names and table assignments. We had a selection of three plated dinners at the reception: beef, chicken, and pasta. All of them were excellent and we couldn't have been happier.

Not only was the food wonderful, but they also provided a number of unique touches. For example, they set up citrus water and tea at the outdoor wedding site. This helped keep everyone cool and refreshed while waiting for the ceremony to start.

Amphora catering is the primary reason my wedding day was so wonderful and stress-free. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Angela and her staff to anyone who is looking for a caterer.

I have had many cakes from the Amphora before, so we did not look anywhere else for a wedding cake, as all our past experiences were both beautiful and delicious. The 5 tier cake for 200 for our daughter's reception was gorgeous and delicious. Not the least expensive, but I knew I would be really happy with the cake and that was important. I've been to too many weddings where the cake looked lovely , but tasted like sawdust. I knew this would not be a worry with a cake from the Amphora. It was wonderful, and we got lots of positive feedback.

After a few mishaps about our contract, I am completely pleased and happy with what Amphora provided for our wedding. The food was great, I am still getting compliments from guests. The service was worth the money. All the presentations looked high end, Amphora did not cut corners! Our cake looked beautiful, but not the best I ever had which was a little disappointing, it tasted better during our tasting than it did on our wedding night.

Wow!! YUM! When choosing a caterer that is exactly the thought we wanted to cross the minds of our family and friends. We did a pasta bar and got a lot of POSITIVE feedback from our guests. I loved what they did with the spinach salad. The setup was absolutely beautiful from the chairs outside for the ceremony to the decorated tables. I am so pleased with our experience!

What I liked about Amphora Bakery was that you could view their standard array of (beautifully decorated) cakes online and view pricing for them, as well. You can place orders online, but they will call to verify before filling them. If you order the standard array of cakes and other pastries, you don't need to give but a few days. Speaking on the phone to sales staff that didn't sound too sure of what they were doing made me nervous that I was going to pick up my cake find out it was something else entirely. My advice is, since there are reviews where people got something other than what they were expecting (particularly wedding cakes) is that you order everything in person and get a real sense of what they offer.

With that said, our order was avaialble on time (we were even allowed to push up the pick up time), the cake looked beautiful, and tasted delicious. I would definitely recommend their services as a baker (at least at the Herndon location, which is where we went), but to be on the safe side, visit the location. They have the cake factory right on site and plenty of beautiful looking cakes to select from.

We loved planning our wedding with Amphora and especially Candace. She was Flexible, devoted to our event, and did everything to make us feel so special!! The food was good and except a mistake with our drinks distribution (left out wines etc..) everything ran smoothly thanks to amphora's team.

Amphora was amazing! The food and cake tasted devine... That was really important to me for my wedding. I wanted tasty food! It was certainly expensive though, but I believe that you will find that with any caterer. The only real problem we had was getting in touch with them sometimes before the wedding. Amphora actually catered the rehearsal dinner for us, not the reception. We just piled into the private room of their restaurant, and it was wonderful. The food is great, the staff is unubtrusive but helpful, and we have nothing but good memories of that night. They also make gorgeous cakes, but they were too expensive for us.

We did not have the best experience at the tasting. We were given about 12 different samples and then left alone to try them. We would have preferred someone to have been telling us which kind of cake was which as we tasted the flavors. Saying that, our wedding cake was beautiful and our guests gave us very positive feedback. The cake came as part of our venue package and there was no issue with delivery. This bakery makes some really good cake and the helper is quick to get back and attend to emails and questions. Our cake was beautiful!

All I wanted was pizza for our wedding. I went to so many caterers and they'd all do some weird version, but Amphora really stepped up to the plate. Beautifully presented on marble slabs, they made 6 amazing kinds of pizza (Seafood was to die for), and exceeded my expectations. The one thing I'd say is that they didn't have the food ready right away, which is why I didn't give them 5 stars across the board, but they are an exceptional caterer and I really recommend them. They work hard so that you get exactly what you want.

The cake was gorgeous and tasted amazing! I wasn't too excited about the cake tasting process (we were double booked) but once I tasted the cake I knew we had chosen the right place. Most details were coordinated with my reception place so I didn't have to do much more beyond just paying for the cake (full payment required) after we made our decision. I've got so many compliments on the cake, both the design and taste on my wedding day. Amphora bakery gave me exactly what I wanted!

The food was delicious, hot, and perfect for an August wedding. All of the guests praised the food and how wonderful it all looked and tasted. However, it was frustrating that we had to switch my contact person half way through my wedding planning and I was never really told what was happening. I also felt like we were nickle and dimed... they made very odd charges on our bill like a set-up fee, taxes, and production fee. Isn't the production fee similar to the set-up and break-down fees? The presentation of the food and taste was better than I thought possible for a wedding of 140 people.

I had mixed feelings with our vendor:

The Pros: Quality was amazing. Food was delicious. Presentation was superb. The price and quality was unbeatable. Serving staff was pleasant and professional. Our account manager really listened to what we wanted and offered great tips/advice.

The Cons: We had 3 different account managers (quit?fired?) and they were not very responsive the month leading up to our wedding. A week before our wedding, we had a tragedy and I specifically asked the catering manager (who ended up being our point of contact at the end) to forgo our original set-up plan for one of our tables and instead only set it for 6 (instead of 9). She assured me that they would handle the situation but when we arrived at the reception, the issue was not handled properly. I normally would not nit-pick something like this, but the fact that we SPECIFICALLY asked her to handle the situation and she assured be she would. Also, One item appeared on our menu that we did not approve of before hand, and one we expected was not served (and we were not notified).

I would still recommend this service to a friend, as the food was fantastic. I hope that they quickly remedy their staffing issue so that every couple can have a great experience and important memos are not overlooked.

We really enjoyed having amphora cater our wedding. The food was delicious at the tasting and I think it was just as good at the wedding (although, I didn't get to eat too much of it- being the bride). We were a little disappointed in the amount of food at the wedding as well as that plates on the table weren't cleared, and stations weren't cleared as quickly as I would have liked.
Additionally, the consultant we were initially working with left the company and no one called to tell us which was little frustrating. It felt a little turned off by a few of the interactions I had with the consultant who was then assigned to us, but in the end he made me feel very confident in Amphora's ability to handle all of our needs.

We chose Amphora as our catering company because they had the most experience at our venue and we felt confident in Patricia as our Event Specialist. Unfortunately, Patricia left a couple months before our wedding and we started working with Candace and Angela. We were disappointed in the service because it did take a long time for the dinner food to come out and we were already eating late as it was. However, many of our guests said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Amphora was also very flexible and willing to accommodate our schedule which we appreciated. As this was one of Candace's first weddings at the venue, I am confident that things will improve.

I love this restaurant and was excited to host our family and friends here for the rehearsal dinner. The food was FANTASTIC!! However, the servers were sloppy, did not offer beverages to our guests, and forgot to serve the rolls. We will still eat here when we are in town but won't use them again for an event.

I was extremely surprised at the lack of quality of the wedding cake and the cupcakes that we received for our wedding. It literally took my husband three tries to HACK into the cake to get a piece… We have a wedding photo of him holding the top cake since we couldn’t cut it. I was very disappointed as I’ve ordered many items over the years from them, and everything tasted great, but for our wedding, it seemed like they made everything a few days before. I've tried to reach out to Amphora to discuss my dissatisfaction and all I keep getting is that someone will call you back... so far it’s been three weeks with no call back/email. I certainly will not recommend them again nor will I use them again.
