So glad we found Ampa Events!
We reached out to Ampa only a couple weeks prior to one of our couple’s wedding requesting a black and white checkered dance floor. They were quick to respond, professional and gave us a great quote. They delivered on the wedding day and the couple was so happy to have exactly what they envisioned. We will certainly go to them for other rental needs in the future!Sent on 08/26/2020

Ted was able to change a very large, plain church hall into a lovely reception hall for my daughter's wedding. He placed the lights just so, they illumined the ceiling and the bridal party. He also brought beautiful tables for the wedding party so they were not seated at folding tables! The stage was became the back drop for the wedding party as he used beautiful drapes to hide the stage and enhance the hall. The hall was recently renovated and many of the parishioners were astonished to see how lovely the decorations were. He was able to make a plain hall appear to be a beautiful reception room.Sent on 09/02/2020

Without AMPA Events my wedding reception would have been sweet but forgettable. With the help of Ted Rubis and company our church hall was completely transformed! Ampa, especially Leslie Amason, was able to guide us through a very anxious July wedding. Because of the Covid pandemic we had to cancel our wedding of 225 people and just include the bridal party and immediate family. Due to the Covid stages specifications had to be met in order to pull it off. In a panic, Leslie was able to provide places to call and specific ideas to still give our son and daughter in law the fairy tale wedding of their dreams. Their suggestions in the placement of tables, social distancing with how the meal and appetizers were to be served lifted so much anxiety that we were really able to enjoy the day. The cigar bar was an enormous hit!!! I would highly recommend Ampa. They were professional and very comforting in a time when it could have been total chaos. Top notch company for all of your decor needs!
I have had the privilege of working with AMPA Events for 20+ years. I have always had the confidence to refer my clients directly to them and let them work their magic. The owner and staff are always very professional, timely and super creative with their designs. They can literally provide beautiful decor for any budget. One key example that I always share with my clients is that AMPA Events always comes prepared for the unexpected. They will tweak their designs to fit the facility and always throw in some extra's for the "just in case" scenario. They are great partners with the venues and ensure that both "clients" are happy. I would not hesitate to recommend their services to anyone.

We have worked with AMPA and Ted (the owner) directly for 5+ years. In those years AMPA has provided lighting, sound and decor for our organizations showcase events (annual awards dinner for 800+ and our symposium). You can imagine, it takes a certain skill to re-design an annual event so the attendees feel like they are having a different experience year over year. It takes a skill beyond basic design methods and it's hard to find but Ted and his team -- they have it! As a non-profit, budget is very important to us and as an event planner, of 13+ years, I have big ideas re: design. Ted and his team have been amazing at helping me re-imagine the event so my design fits my budget. The design, execution and service is always excellent and our attendees are amazed EVERY year. I have worked with Ampa Events for several years. Ampa has provided lighting for our scholarship dance and their work has made the event look fabulous. Ted and the team at Ampa are great to work with. They are easy going, friendly and accommodating. There equipment is great and the lighting designs they execute with the larger fixtures are breathtaking. We have had Stars on the walls and a design that made the room look like fall. It's incredible what they can do with their theatre background. If you need a good lighting company, I highly recommend Ampa. Unfortunately I have to write a very negative review of Ampa Events. They were one of the recommended vendors of my venue (Chrysler Museum) but they used to be Ampa of Tidewater, which seems to have been incorporated into Ampa Events in Richmond. Things started out well, they were the only recommended vendor who still offers PAR 38 uplighting, which is far less expensive than LED, so that is why I chose them. Then the woman I had been dealing with left the company. She seemed to have a good grasp on the venue, and told me where all the lights (28 total) would be placed. There is a grand staircase into the dining area where it is typical for the bridal party to enter, and I have an email from this former Ampa staff member stating that the staircase landing, top and bottom would be lit, as well as all the columns around the dining area. This information apparently didn't filter down to the technician. On the day of the wedding, the technician called the groom from Chrysler HALL rather than Chrysler MUSEUM, wondering where everyone was. Then the worst part was when we made our grand entrance-- the staircase was DARK. There were no lights at the top of the staircase or the landing, as the former staff member had described. In addition to the dark staircase, I had our DOC go around and count all the lights, and only 26 lights were used, not the 28 in our contract. I have since written the company a very tempered and reasonable letter, and gave them a chance to make reparations (at least reimbursing us for the 2 lights we were shorted). It has been over two weeks and they have not responded at all. Ampa Events stands out by far as the worst vendor from our wedding. I gave them a couple of points above because they were responsive to our original inquiry (even though they are completely non-responsive now), and they were the best value we found because they still offer PAR 38s, but based on our experience I sincerely discourage anyone from using them. I'll be sure to update this review if I do hear back from Ampa.Sent on 04/06/2012

We booked them about nine month's before our wedding. After we paid the deposit I couldn't get anyone to return my calls. We finally heard from on the day of the wedding because they were confused about where to put the lighting and I didn't have time to talk to them. My DOC tried to call them back repeatedly but never could reach them. As we entered the reception, we discovered that the lighting wasn't the color we ordered and they spelled my husband's name wrong on the gobo!!!
My dad has been trying to reach them since the wedding, but the owner of the company isn't taking any of our phone calls or emails.
Spend a little more and get a professional company for your wedding!!
