The Altland House was so accommodating for our wedding. We were able to go for a tasting at their facility in Abbottstown. I was in constant contact with our coordinator through the entire planning process. Not only did they cater our wedding, they provided linens, plates, utensils, cocktail hour food, servers, bartenders and so much more. When it came to the food and drinks, I did not have to worry! They were a one stop shop! I highly recommend! -

Altland house was awesome! The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly. They did everything, they had a bartender there and servers to help with the food, every one kept asking me about the salmon!! So that was a hit. They helped with the cutting of the cake and also helped clean up the tables and put the things in a tote so they would not get broken! Awesome service!!! -

We worked with the Altland House via their Liberty Forge Location. Christie Griest was the representative who helped us, and she was absolutely WONDERFUL :] We hit it off immediately, and she patiently worked with both my parents and me all spring to help us find a catering package that would suit their tastes and mine!
People are still raving about the food! We went with five food stations, and her staff made us a small "naked cake" covered in micro-flowers along with a variety of pies instead of the traditional wedding cake to cut... everything was so beautifully displayed, the linens looked awesome, and her staff even washed and cleaned 170 vintage floral dessert plates I had collected for the guests to use!
Not only did Christie make sure everything was spot on with the food, bar, and desserts; she also helped me think through other things I might not have thought about, like whether we would be getting special forks, toasting flutes, or a cake cutting set to use and save as a keepsake.
My parents are thrilled with the Altland House and all that Christie and her crew did to make our wedding day amazing, and so are my husband and I! We will definitely be using them for future special events! Five stars all around. -

The Altland House catered our wedding reception at The Valencia Ballroom in York, PA. Dinner for 180 guests was served hot and delicious. The cake was equally as beautiful and delicious. The service assisted without being asked to pull together keepsakes from each table at the end of the night. Thank you, Altland House catering! -

We had a great experience working with Altland House for our wedding. We chose to serve barbeque style food for dinner, and our guests loved the delicious and casual choice. The catering staff was beyond wonderful. A server saw that both of our grandmothers were served dinner and dessert without having to leave their seats. They also served us our dinners first and made sure that I was never without a glass of wine in hand. They went above and beyond to make sure that our reception was perfect. -

The food was the highlight of my wedding! I am not the traditional bride, so I thought it was going to be more difficult to obtain my vision of an "upscale BBQ." However, immediately after bringing this up to my coordinator (Diana) she worked up a plan to make this possible. We went with a Pig Roast and BBQ chicken with the traditional southern sides. I continue to have guests raving about how great the food was (especially the Mac and Cheese!). I feel like most people don't have seconds at a wedding, but many people couldn't stop with just one plate. I would highly recommend this company to anyone! -

We had our wedding at RoundTop Mountain Resort, one of the Altland House's five wedding venues. They did the catering, which was delicious, the cake, which was exactly what we wanted, and the ceremony and reception space, which was gorgeous! The Atland House's professional and personable staff made our wedding day absolutely perfect! They were there to help and answer any question we had during the planning, rehearsal, and wedding day. I would recommend their services to anyone! -

The Altland House did an excellent job catering for my wedding. They included everything, even my cake so I didn't have to worry about a thing on my special day. All of the staff members were extremely kind and quick to respond to any of my questions. The food they provided us with was talked about for weeks and we were so pleased with every little detail they made perfect. It was so nice to work with people who know exactly what they are doing and execute everything to a T. We definitely recommend them! -

We booked our rehearsal dinner at the Altland House. Nicole was great to work with from start to finish. They offer a great variety of options for large parties and the venue itself is beautiful and easily accessible. The food was also delicious and set up nicely for the buffet. My only compliant (for the 4.5/5 on "Quality of Service") was that the cash bar and soda bar were not explained to us properly. I thought there was literally going to be a small bar set up in the room for us, but there was not and our guest had to place their orders though a waitress, or so we were told that evening. Which would have been ok, but the waitresses came in only 2 times during our dinner which was about 2 hours long. We later found out after that we should have gone to the main bar instead of ordering via the waitresses. It was a little confusing and not something I felt we should have had to address that evening. The same waitresses also charged us for some drinks we have already paid for with the soda bar then proceeded to tell my Dad that he did not owe anything for his bar tab before he left, although he did owe about $50 which was then placed on our overall bill. Overall I would recommend the Altland House to anyone for a large party, just confirm with the venue what you are looking for as far as the drink services. -

We hired Altland to cater our wedding at Historic Shady Lane. Kristie was great at answering all our questions and making changes whenever things came up while planning. We chose the BBQ/picnic dinner option, since our wedding was super casual, and I think it was the perfect choice. They even had gluten-free and kids options as well that were specially served to those guests. Chuck was AMAZING the day-of – seriously, such a nice guy. He made sure the staff knew what we were drinking, and that we always had what we needed throughout the evening. The bartenders were quick, paid attention, and we saved money by buying our own booze. We really enjoyed our own meals at the wedding, and our judgmental foodie friend even complimented the food! Overall a great experience! -

I was very happy with their service. I did a lot of communicating with Kristie over email since we were planning our wedding long distance, and no detail was dropped. I gave her several photos. One was of a naked cake with fresh raspberry and strawberries, and another was of a bread basket with thyme and grapes to fit my picnic theme, and both came out as pictured. We also had two custom appetizers. I felt comfortable that with Kristie's experience, I could ask and she could make it happen.
Altland House did a really good job managing the reception. Everything was on schedule, orderly, no hassles, no bother. The food turned out decent overall. The appetizers and salad were really good. The entrees were a smidge dry, which may have been due to the challenging cooking conditions at Lauxmont. They need to fix the strawberry shortcake, which was much smaller than the tasting and was short on strawberries.
I was also happy that they were able to handle the 90 degree weather for our outdoor ceremony. Drinks were still iced, and they answered our last minute request of water for the guests at the ceremony.
We chose them because they have good value. They have a wide variety of entree options that are pretty dang good, and also include dessert if you don't want the cake. Kristie knew that at Lauxmont that we had overspent, so she was able to work with us to stay on budget. I highly recommend Altland House.

During the planning process the Altland House had high turnover and because of this I had three different coordinators. They were all very helpful and the service was great, the only problem was that everything doesn't done the way it was noted in my file. These were all small things though and overall everything was great! -

We really enjoyed working with Diana and the Altland House for our wedding last weekend. Diana was quick to answer all my questions and helped me make changes last minute. She showed up for a few hours on our wedding day and helped calm my nerves. Her staff was amazing and kept with my husband and I all throughout the night. Everyone raved about the food! Our only issue was that the power went out right as we were being introduced into the reception (which wasn't their fault) and that we provided a full open bar and they ran out of some of the liquor. Everything else was amazing! Great job Diana, we really enjoyed working with you! -

Each staff member went out of his or her way to make sure all of the guests were comfortable. A couple mistakes were made in the planning process, but the staff members corrected them right away. Because the staff had been so professional in handling these situations, I didn't worry at all when the big day came; I knew my wedding was in good hands! -

I worked with Jayme from the Altland House to coordinate the catering at my wedding at the Agricultural and Industrial Museum. She was so helpful throughout the entire process from the initial meeting to the final meeting. I had a lot of ideas on how I wanted the catering and setup to happen for my event which she easily accommodated. I chose to have 3 passed apps, 3 dinner stations (sliders, soup & salad and stir fry), a passed dessert (white choc. mousse) and a dessert/coffee station. The food was excellent and guests got a kick out of the Asian stir fry station (the food was served in little Chinese food to-go boxes w/chopsticks). The food service was very casual and guests could come and go from station to station as they pleased. The servers were friendly and efficient. They constantly cleared dishes and made sure everyone had what they needed. The bar tender was also friendly and made sure everyone had what they wanted. Not only did the Altland House provide the food, but Jayme (and staff) also helped design the layout of the room, coordinate linen rentals (or any other rentals for that matter) and helped setup/tear down the event. Overall, I was very happy with the service I received and would recommend them highly. -

My husband and I recently got married at the York Expo Center's White Rose Room. Honestly, My husband picked out the venue. It didn't look all that exciting to me when we first viewed the room. The main reason I agreed was because I was choosing pretty much everything else and Altland House offered wonderful packages that were affordable. After working with Jayme Wagner and having a seperate vendor install ceiling drapery in the room our vision actually turned out quite wonderful on the day of our wedding. Many people commented on how beautifl everything looked so in the end I was very happy that we choose Altland House to work with. The food was delicious. The cake was amazaing!! My husband and I decided that we wanted different tiers of the cake to be different flavors and on my wedding day I told Jayme I wanted to try both. Sure enough when cake was served my husband and I both had two pieces of cake on our plates! Jayme does take a little while to get back to you in her emails, but I'm sure she is SUPER busy! And as the day came closer responses were more frequent. The only thing that I was really disappointed about on our wedding day was the seating arrangement. My husband and I created our seating chart with their diagram and I know it was perfect because we checked it over and over and my mom even looked at it. Somebody must have switched the table numbers the day of the reception, because when my husband and I did our entrance into the reception we noticed our parents were not at the front tables like we had put on the diagram. All of our parents were sitting in the back row (there were only 2 rows) Needless to say I would definitely recommend Altlandhoue and the White Rose Room. They do a very nice job and everybody is very pleasant. -

I had my recent event at Roundtop Ski Resort, with that came the Altland house catering. The price overall was pretty good, and to make my menu was very easy. I added stuff at the last minute that they were more than willing to prepare for a reasonable price. I will say though, ask specifically for Liz. She was amazing. The woman who was supposed to be assigned to my wedding, or so I thought, was there for about 10 minutes of the ceremony. The night before the wedding we had to go there to decorate, she was not there adn did not inform me that there was a time frame the decorating had to be done in. The outside ceremony section was also not set up due to winds. The morning of my wedding my mother, aunt and uncle ended up going down there to meet Diana at 9:00, she was not there and the ceremony was not set up. My mother and Co. ended up setting up the arbour for the ceremony with during began to fall because it was not set up correctly. I was not pleased about that, and the thank you email that I recieved the Monday after my event was to congratulate me on my wedding, with the wrong name for my husband. Normally, I would not consider this a huge deal, however since I had just paid the company thousands of dollars I would have expected at least some proof reading.
That said, the location was amazing, it was beautiful. My guests could not get over the uniqueness of the ski lodge and just how perfect of a setting it was. The food was very delicious, the cake looked exacly how I wanted it to and all of my guests were thrilled with everything. I was as well and I cannot say enough nice things about Liz, I was in very good hands that day all because of her. Overall, I was thrilled with the event itself and the staff and I highly recommend Ski Roundtop if you are looking to have a beautiful ceremony! -

In the end....it was great!! However, Jayme Wagner left a lot to be desired. When we met April 2, I offered her $1,000 deposit towards catering, she told me to wait that she would collect it later, however would email me that night. She did not. Nor did she the entire month of April or May. I emailed her twice in June with no response. It was not until I contacted another employee from Altland House who finally got her to respond to me, albeit, the week before the wedding. Even at this point, after she finally emailed me, 20% of the information was incorrect, including the time of the wedding. After several emails with no response, I contacted her manager and then proceeded to contact the general manager of Altland house, Ben. At this point I dealt with him directly. He made it all right! We discussed my dissatisfaction of Ms. Wagner and my concerns with her bridal consultant abilities. I wish her well and I truly hope that she does better for the next Bride than she did for this one....or she may not have too many more brides to deal with in her future! -

They stranded us on the mountain
I am a wedding officiant with a ceremony-only music DJ. On my June 1 wedding at Ski Roundtop [Mountain View], my DJ was left stranded on the mountain top for 90 minutes past the promised transport time. This caused our small, non-profit ministry to miss our next commitment. I believe that after stringing us along saying that transport was en route when in fact it was not, Altland should have offered some compensation to us as a professional courtesy. -

This is what society has come to. Not doing what is right but by what is or is not stated in a contract.
For those of you who are planning a wedding and/or special event. Make sure your contract indicates that the facility, Ski Roundtop, has either heat and/or air conditioning during inclement weather. Even though you may expect this to be a given, it is not unless indicated by the contract.
We planned our wedding for two years. IT WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST DAYS OF OUR LIVES. It was a time to spend with many family and friends. Unfortunately, the day of our wedding, the air conditioning unit was not working. The temperature reached 85 degrees inside the lodge. It was so hot and humid. Everybody ate quickly, not fully enjoying the hot meal we had paid for. After finishing their meal, everybody ran outside. Our guest were scattered everywhere. We were supposed to have the father/daughter dance and then cutting of the cake. I couldn't ask everyone to come back inside. I had to figure out what to do all evening long. I had no time to spend with my family and friends. We moved one speaker to the patio. Only a few people came inside to see use cut our cake, which was melting. Children had taken their clothes off. People left early. I can go on and on.
Planning a wedding or event at Ski Roundtop catered by Altland House: Make sure your contract indicates that you will have air conditioning and/or heat. Nobody wants to spend thousands of dollars for a service they expect but do not get. If it doesn't say in the contract, it doesn't matter.
Yes they have many events at this location that where absolutely wonderful. I've been to two, so I would know. This was not the case for our wedding day and it could happen again. Altland House had the nerve to tell me this has happened before.
Don't let it happen to you!
We did receive a small amount back but nothing compared to what we paid for.
I WISH WE HAD ANOTHER CHANCE TO GET THAT DAY BACK BUT WE NEVER WILL. -
