Award Winning Experience

I ordered a 3 tier wedding cake for my nephews wedding. The flavors were amazing! Chocolate Bavarian, Passion fruit, and Vanilla Bean. I personally enjoyed every flavor especially the vanilla bean flavor. The passion fruit was a hit for some but not others. The cake was most and not too sweet including the fondant. The fondant was one of the best I’ve tried. It was more like a light chewy marshmallow. It was such a hit at our small intimate celebration. Everyone was raving about the cake! The customer service was also excellent and I appreciated the time Alexandria took to call me and go over my order since we were not local and was not able to do any tastings. I preferred to speak with someone vs order online. I definitely recommend this spot for wedding cakes and if I’m ever back in town I will definitely be stopping in to try some of their smaller pastries!

Affordable high quality wedding cake!

From the moment we tasted the cakes at Alexandria Pastry Shop we were blown away by the flavors and quality of these cakes. We did a 3 tier red velvet and a sheet cake that was vanilla buttercream with a raspberry filling - both were impeccable and our guests complimented them all night. The presentation was stunning - they copied the exact picture of the cake I wanted and it was perfection! They are also incredibly affordable compared to other wedding cake shops and this pastry shop doesn’t use any fake ingredients and source locally - incredible!

Great dessert bar for our wedding

We worked with Alexandria Pastry Shop for our wedding in August 2022. In lieu of a typical wedding cake, we had a buffet of assorted desserts- cupcakes, fruit tarts, cookies and brownies. All the guests complimented the treats and the team was easy to work with in advance of and on the big day. We recommend!

Delicious cake!

We received many compliments on the taste of our cake! In an effort to save money, we ordered a 3 tier cake with an extra sheet cake at the baker’s suggestion.

Best local pastry shop

Let's start with their cake tasting, they went above and beyond with size of cake slices. They were very thorough with cake design, and they DELIVERED quality in design. I didn't expect a pinterest picture ready cake, and they left me speechless with how beautiful it was. Their mousse cakes are so moist and best of their kind. Cannot wait to get our cake every year for our anniversary.

Great cake; helpful throughout

First off, the cake was delicious. But more important than that, the Alexandria Pastry Shop worked with us throughout our wedding process (even as we had to change our big celebration from 2020 to 2021 as a result of the pandemic) to help us design the cake we wanted and for flexibility as our plans continued to change. Great cake; great service.

Wonderful Winter Wedding Cake

My husband and I tasted so many cakes and visited several bakeries. Alexandria Pastry Shop stood out because it tasted the best. Period. We opted for three flavors: carrot cake, Red Velvet, and Bavarian cream. All were amazing, especially the carrot cake, probably because the carrot is sautéed in butter before it's put into the batter! Tom and his team were amazing, and the end product was a delicious, three-level winter wedding cake that looked like it was dusted in snow. It also got rave reviews from our guests!

Amazing Wedding Cake

We absolutely loved our wedding cake from Alexandria Pastry Shop! We chose the raspberry buttercream and it was absolutely delicious, We received so many compliments on our wedding cake after our reception, and we are so glad we booked this business!

Delicious and Beautiful

I've been going to Alexandria Pastry Shop since I was a kid, and they have the most delicious pastries and cakes. I knew they had to do my wedding cake. When we tasted cakes we tried the standard cakes with buttercream frosting, which were good, but the owner, Tom Lally, insisted we try the mousse cakes, and he brought us a few pieces to try. Wow, they were amazing! We had a hard time picking a flavor, but eventually went with the "black and white," which had layers of chocolate and white chocolate mousse and sponge. I was worried the mousse wouldn't hold up for a summer wedding, but Tom assured me it would, and he was right. They also worked with me to create a custom design that mimicked the lace pattern on my dress. The cake came out beautiful and everyone thought it was delicious. I can't wait to eat the top layer on our anniversary next year!

Best Wedding Cake Company

Tom and the team at Alexandria Pastry were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were super friendly when we first met them for our cake tasting, and made it clear that they were willing to do whatever we needed to make our day special. Not only did they make one of the most delicious wedding cakes I've ever tasted, they also helped us with mini desserts for the dessert buffet we wanted at our wedding. Both the pastries they made and the cake were huge hits, and we would highly recommend them for all your baking needs!

I went to Alexandria Pastry shop for my wedding cake. I had to go in for several appointments to make sure my cakes would be perfect and there was someone there always ready to help me. My wedding cake was perfect. The sugar flowers were arranged beautifully on the cake and though I did not get to taste my wedding cake, due to too much dancing, I was told by guests that it was delicious. I highly recommend Alexandria Pastry Shop. They are a pleasure to work with.

We used Alexandria Pastry Shop for our wedding cake, which took place on 7/14/18 in Arlington, VA. Our consultant Jessica was great to work with and worked with us to achieve our vision for the cake. We submitted a custom picture to APS and they were able to replicate the cake exactly how we envisioned! The cake was delivered on time the day of the wedding and the cake topper was placed on top without issue. Above all, the cake was extremely delicious and you could tell it was freshly baked! I would not hesitate to recommend their wedding cake services!

We had a wonderful experience with Alexandria Pastry Shop. It's a small, family-owned business and they really pay attention to detail. We worked with Jessica, and she could not have been more responsive and helpful. She helped us achieve the effect we wanted while still staying within our budget. At many weddings I've attended in the past, the cake is pretty but not all that flavorful. Our cake was both gorgeous AND delicious!

Our wedding cake was absolutely perfect! We requested a mixture of two different styles and they pulled it off without a problem!! We also had a small sugar free cake for some family members made and they worked with us on everything. Our wedding cake was red velvet and it was absolutely delicious!! All of their pastries are to die for!

Their customer service was excellent from the day we did cake tasting until the delivery of our wedding cake. We had 3 different of their specialty flavors (passion fruit, mango guava) for each tier of our cake. It was delicious. I would recommend them, as their cakes are amazing.

Wedding cakes are typically outrageously priced and borderline inedible, but our cake from Alexandria Pastry Shop was reasonably priced and exceptionally good (even better than we remembered from the tasting). They were happy to work with us to make exactly what we wanted (three layers, each of a different cake type), delivered it precisely on time, and the cake was a hit with our guests. Highly recommend giving them a try during your cake search.

These guys made us the MOST DELICIOUS and beautiful wedding cake!!! All of our guests commented on how yummy it was. Their customer service was excellent too. They put up with my numerous anxious-bride emails and calls, all with grace and understanding. We really enjoyed working with them and highly recommend their services.

Alexandria Pastry shop was suggested by my venue and so I went in for a cake tasting! They were super accommodating and had a beautiful little area set up where we could taste and look at pictures! I didn't end up finding what I wanted in their books, so I just sent them a picture by email and they recreated it perfectly! The Lemon buttercream cake with raspberry filling was a PERFECT wedding cake and DELICIOUS!

LOVED our wedding cake and LOVED the experience my husband and I had at Alexandria Pastry Shop. They were very accommodating with our cake flavors and suggested a flavor that not only we loved but our guests loved as well. It was a quality, delicious cake. We were so lucky that the venue we chose had a deal with Alexandria Pastry. My cousin had used them for her wedding and I years later, I still remembered how delicious their cakes were! They were super easy to work with, let us try a variety of cakes and had ideas for how to create the perfect cake. We also appreciated that they just let us pick a cake- it wasn't extra for each little design, etc. on the cake. Also, the cakes are just plain amazing. The only issue we had was that based on the number of people we told them, there wasn't enough cake, and some of the guests had to go without. I cannot say, however, if the venue just cut the slices too large or if there just wasn't enough cake.

Alexandria Pastry is always one of our favorites, so when we were planning our small wedding the choice was easy. We actually picked an assortment of pastries, truffles and eclairs for our wedding, but I know that their cakes are also amazing! It is our go to bakery for birthdays, guests in town, and amazing treats on special mornings. I am also a photographer, and have seen Alexandria Pastry's work at many weddings. Their wedding cakes are beautiful.

Our family has ordered cakes from Alexandria Pastry Shop for years! For birthdays, baptisms, pretty much any event you can think of. For me, it was a no brainer- I was definitely ordering our wedding cake here. There are plenty of decorations to choose from, plenty of flavors and my favorite part- not just those standard bready and crumbly cake options. You have tons of mousse options and special flavors that will wow your guests. The shop was easy to work with the owner Tom was so pleasant during our consultation. Just go out there and try some of their cakes- you will order on the spot! I highly recommend the black and white chocolate mousse and the passion fruit with apricot. You are not limited to just one flavor for your cake.

The Alexandria Pastry Cafe makes absolutely delicious and flavorful desserts. We were so excited to have them bake our wedding cake, cupcakes, and grooms cake, for our wedding at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA. It was a pleasure working with Tom, the owner, from start to finish. He helped us create our custom order—a peanut butter & chocolate grooms cake, a lemon & raspberry buttercream tiered wedding cake, and a selection of cupcakes—and even delivered the cake and cupcakes to our venue himself. The bakers and staff at the Alexandria Pastry Cafe did an incredible job with the design and look of our cake and they even helped package our cupcakes in to-go containers as end-of-the-night favors for our guests. Our guests keep talking about the desserts! One side note: I have a food allergy to soy, and the Alexandria Pastry Cafe was able to make all of our desserts soy free. We also recommend you stop in for breakfast and lunch...Delicious! We had a fantastic experience from start to finish and we give our highest recommendation to the Cafe. Thank you so much for making the most tasty wedding desserts for our wedding!

My daughter worked with Tu at Alexandria Pastry, who was very responsive and helpful. The cake turned out absolutely beautiful and it was also very tasty. She had a layer of strawberry shortcake and a layer of red velvet and they were both excellent. Would recommend Alexandria Pastry for any wedding. In the DMV area!

I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful pastry shop! Tom worked with us from day one, and he was so kind and helpful that coordinating for the cake ended up being one of the easiest logistical pieces of our whole wedding. I am a type-A psycho, but was so (rightfully) confident in this shop that I was able to stay hands off through the whole thing since it was in their extremely capable hands. We wanted something a little unconventional (funfetti), which they assured us was completely doable, and it turned out spectacularly. SO yummy and pretty; I still have people telling me how wonderful it was. I got several comments about it being the "best wedding cake of all time." I wish I could give them 6 stars!!! Amazing customer service and FABULOUS cake!

I tried 5 different cake vendors before picking Alexandria Pastry for my wedding cake - and they were hands down the best! the cake is so clearly made from scratch, and is so delicious! My wedding was in January 2015 and with a winter wedding I wanted a cake decorated to reflect the season. I brought in a picture of a snowflake decorated cake and they made it even better, it was beautiful. I tried many delicious flavors but settled on the black and white chocolate mousse - which they noted was a wedding favorite - and I understand why! (and it was still good when we defrosted the top on our first anniversary!) Thank you Alexandria Pastry!

Easy to deal with and the cake was delicious! Just what I was looking for. Our wedding cake was dessert so I wanted more than just a pretty looking cake. Alexandria Pastry Shop understood and really delivered the goods - on time, with no hassle. We had three different layers (carrot cake, German chocolate and raspberry filled yellow cake). All covered with yummy buttercream. We loved them all when we did our tasting and so we were quite thrilled with the option to have all three.

This was our favorite part of planning our wedding and the easiest part of planning it. The cake tasted amazing and looks wise was exactly what I asked for (3 ivory tiers, square, with purple cherry blossoms coming down the side of the cake with a light silver tint sprayed on the flowers, and a slight border for the different tiers). Everyone not only loved the taste of our cake (which had one level of triple chocolate mousse and the other was mango guava - both very different flavor a and incredibly delicious) but just raves and raves about how beautiful it looked (and matched our wedding colors perfectly). They were super easy to work with, I felt the price was right on point, and they delivered it to the venue with no issues. I go there all the time now for any cake I get for birthdays or just other special occasions. Highly recommend!

I was referred to the Alexandria Pastry shop by someone at the Art Institute of Washington, who advised me that for quality and affordability this shop was as good as it gets. And they were right! When my husband and i went to taste cakes, the owner patiently worked with us to find the right cake. And at the right price point. And it was delivered to our venue without any problems. In fact, six months later, people are still commenting on how good the cake was for our wedding! I can't recommend them highly enough!

So, let me start out by saying the people at Alexandria Pastry Shop were wonderful! We were literally 3 1/2 weeks away from our wedding day, which was 9/5/15 before I noticed we didn't have a wedding cake. I know i know.... Don't ask. From the telephone conversation to the meeting to the delivery, they were helpful organized and wonderful. We went in for a consultation, and walked out with the design and flavor of our cake. The day of our wedding, we saw it on the table and I just cried. It was better then I thought it would be! They all are helpful, and extremely caring and wanting to make my vision a reality. I wanna do it all over again!

Our wedding cake was beyond amazing. I wanted a simple decorated cake (Just tight fondant and blue strips) and the cake was perfect. If you also want a cake with amazing flavor which guests will love we picked a lemon cake with raspberry jam and lemon frosting. IT WAS INCREDIBLE! Everyone of our guests were saying it was the best cake by far they have had at weddings. Alexandria Pastry was easy to work with and communicated well the week of the wedding.

Loved meeting and talking to Tom during our tasting - what a hoot. He's been in the business for a long time and it was easy to trust that he knew what he was doing. The cake was beautiful, they used a simple white bark design we had found online and then decorated it with extra flowers from our florist. Also, it was absolutely delicious! We had the Bavarian Cream with fruit as two layers and the Black and White Mousse as the middle layer - so yummy!! Overall it's exactly what you want from a cake vendor and we highly recommend!

As part of our wedding package, a cake from Alexandria Pastry was included. We were able to taste cakes at their location, and they were helpful as we elected flavored and design. It was beautiful!! We went with the lemon mousse with raspberry, and it was perfect for a summer wedding! My mother-in-law had about eight pieces :)

We ordered wedding cakes from Alexandria Pastry Shop and they were nothing short of phenomenal. I had many wedding guests complement me on the quality and tastiness of my wedding cake. We loved the options this shop provided because we were able to pick something that was like and refreshing after a long evening of rich heavy food and drinks, yet it held up perfectly after several hours of display. Our flavor was Lemon Mousse with Raspberries and it was delectable. Customer service was also excellent from the two women we worked with, Adriana and Tu. We had two meetings -- a cake tasting and a meeting to purchase and completely customize our display cake. The shop was completely flexible and open to what we envisioned. I was happy that they allowed us to purchase both a two-tier display cake and a sheet cake, which other bakers were not willing to do. Delivery to my venue went without a hitch and the cake looked fantastic in my photos. Could not be happier with this vendor -- definitely one of the best.

This company provided the cake topper for our wedding. The dessert was really cupcakes but Alexandria Pastry Shop provided the 6 inch cake topper that we used to cut into for pictures, mostly. The women at the pastry shop were super responsive and kind on the phone. We were figuring a lot of this out at the last minute but they never made me feel rushed. The website is wonderful and the customer service was perfect. Oh, and the cake was delicious!

Alexandria Pastry Shop provided a beautiful cake for our wedding in early October. We wanted something simple and a cake that combined a gluten free option with a regular cake option. We chose the chocolate mousse option as the flourless/gluten free option and the basic white cake. We did a basic white buttercream frosting on all the layers. Their tasting was very relaxed and they let us taste multiple options. And they delivered the cake on time to the reception site. My husband and I live close to Alexandria Pastry Shop and have gotten tasty treats from them a number of times, which made us super excited when we found out that they were the bakery that our venue had a contract with. All of their pastries are delicious and the most difficult part about the whole process was deciding on what flavors we wanted for the cake. Every time we went, we came home with more samples. They did everything they could to make sure our cake was beautiful and delicious. It turned out perfect and I couldn't have been happier.

Definitely order cake from them, but just stop by for a morning or afternoon pick-me-up.

Most wedding cakes that I have tasted are terrible. When it was time for the groom and I to cut the cake, and I took the first bite....I opted not to smash cake in his face and instead enjoyed the slice of heaven. The cake came with my wedding package and it was one of the many extras that went above and beyond our expectations. Not only did the cake look exquisite, it also tasted great which is an characteristic that eludes many wedding cakes I've had in the past. Everyone kept commenting on how beautiful and delicious our cake was. We had three layers and we ended up picking a different flavor for each layer. We chose tiramisu, passion fruit with apricot, and black and white chocolate mousse and each flavor was amazing. In fact many of our guests had a slice of each flavor! Also Tu worked with us to make sure our wedding cake looked the way we wanted. We provided a few pictures of different cakes found on Pinterest, noting what we wanted from each of the pictures in terms of color and design. We left everything in their hands and did they ever pull it off! The cake was the spitting image of what we envisioned. My dear husband and I plan on coming back to the D.C. area and go to Alexandria Pastry Shoppe for our anniversary so we can have a chance to relive our delicious wedding experience. We cannot recommend Alexandria Pastry Shoppe enough!

We worked with Alexandria Pastry Shop through our wedding package at the Key Bridge Marriott. We scheduled a tasting and decided to do multiple sheet cakes instead of one large tiered cake and Alexandria was more than able to accommodate this request. They even allowed us to slightly over-order to ensure that we had enough cake to go around and to give our guests flavor options. We opted to get three sheet cakes in three different flavors - black and white mousse, lemon mousse with raspberries, and raspberry marquis (chocolate and raspberry). The black and white mousse cake is incredible and we will keep this in mind for any future cake orders since it was that good! The lemon raspberry cake was a tart, fruity and refreshing and the chocolate raspberry was decadent. The mix of the three flavors played nicely together. Tu at Alexandria also worked with us to incorporate our wedding theme, the DC Metro, into the cake by offering to print an edible photo of the metro map and put it on one of the cakes on a fondant plaque, was very responsive and called to confirm the order well in advance of the wedding.

It was a pleasure working with Alexandria pastry shop!

I waited until what felt like the last minute to select a cake for our wedding, so I felt like I didn't have a lot of imd to devote to finding the perfect cake. I was at the point that I just wanted someone to make me a cake...any cake, but the folks at the Alexandria Pastry Shop encouraged me to do a tasting, and we did all the planning for the cake at the tasting. The only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted white cake (it just feels more bridal to me), so we chose the apricot passion fruit for the bottom tier, the bavarian fruit for the second tier, and coconut for the third and top tiers. We were able to taste everything but the coconut at the tasting and all of the flavors were fantastic (the coconut was definitely my favorite on the day of though). Even though I really didn't want fondant on my cake, Tom explained that the fondant helps the cake keep its shape, since the cake itself is so light and airy, and he's definitely right. Also, the fondant did give the cake a beautiful look on the outside. Since my wedding color is blush, we did a simple white cake with light pink swiss dots.

Our hotel package included the cake and we could use one of two vendors and Alexandrai Pastry was one of them. We had the chocolate and white mousse and fruit bavarian cake and it was wonderful. My husband origianly wanted to get a desset in addition to the cake and after the tasting he said "This cake is a dessert, we don't need another dessert." Alexandria Pastry worked with me to design my cake from a few pictures I had and it came out beautiful. Everyone loved the chocolate and white mousse. We offered our guests 3 different flavors to choose from - Raspberry Marquis, Passion fruit bavarian and mango guava mousse. I asked that guests only choose one slice, for fear of running out! However there was more than enough cake to go around.. I wish I hadn't done that. The cake was delivered around 4 hours before the actual cake cutting and it being served. I was worried that in the warm DC weather it would not stand well but it was totally fine! We did have to get fondant on it however to keep the mousse from melting. I asked for a custom design with lace fondant to go around it. they also worked with my florist (Petal's Edge) to coordinate the decorating of the cake. The cake was equally beautiful and delicious! My mom loved it. It was the most photographed item at our wedding. We had leftover cake the next day and it was equally delicious. I can't wait to visit the shop again for more cake every anniversary!

We had a multi-tier wedding cake with layers of the Lemon/Raspberry Mousse and the Raspberry Marquis Mousse cakes, and they were both delicious! The staff was very pleasant and easy to work with, and our cake looked just as we expected. Thank You Alexandria Pastry Shop! We'll be back to celebrate our anniversary with another fresh cake.

Our cake was exactly what we wanted and looked very professional. We had guests commenting on how cool the cake looked. We also changed a few details along the way and Alexandria Pastry Shop was flexible with every change we made. It was also the most delicious of the 9 different cakes we tried. We went with white cake with vanilla buttercream. It was moist and delicious. It was even delivered 45 minutes without a problem. I was worried the car ride might cause frosting malfunctions, but our cake was set up beautifully when we arrived at our venue. We have the top layer anniversary cake in our freezer and cant wait to open it up and remember our wonderful day.

These are just some of the comments we received regarding our wedding cake. Some of them, we received today after we posted pictures of the cake on our facebook page.

We, my now husband and I, went to Alexandria Pastry Shop for a tasting and were so surprised that the tasting samples were actual SLICES of their cakes. Each one tasted so amazingly good that we could not make up our minds. It was really difficult but with me being a chocolate fiend, we decided to go with the black and white chocolate mousse. The mousse is so rich and decadent without being overly heavy and the cake...oh the cake...I can't describe it except to say that it is perfect. Like I tell everyone else, buy a slice or two now, tomorrow or as soon as you can. It's so good.

Back to my professional review: a few months after our tasting (yes, they allowed us to leave the tasting without being pressured to put down a deposit...amazing, I know) we went back and gave them a rough sketch of the design of the cake and a few google pics and they said they'd take care of everything.

We got to see the cake during the reception and we were blown away by it. Our sketch was there right before our eyes come to..."life". It was amazingness and our guests thought so too.

We used Alexandria Pastry Shop for our wedding and could not be more pleased. We stopped by on a whim one day, they were extremely accommodating and we did our tasting right their on the spot.

They designed a fantastic cake for us, which our guests loved. Their prices were extremely reasonable and they delivered everything on time. Their team provides great customer service, and the quality of their cake is no different.

Went to many many bakeries. My advice? Start here. They were so nice and professional every step of the way. From cake tasting to delivery and set up everything went smoothly. Cake held up great and the design was just what we wanted. Everyone loved the cake at the wedding. To stay within my price range we went with a smaller cake and a separate sheet cake. I was so impressed when I walked into the reception and saw that they even decorated the sheet cake!!! Hassle free and tasted amazing within a reasonable price. What more could you ask for?

Very friendly, flexible, easy to work with and professional service. We LOVED our wedding cake, it was super tasty and the guests raved about it! We used Alexandria Pastry for our dessert table (in lieu of wedding cake). They were very helpful and were kind to work with my very limited budget. They had so many ideas, choices and recommendations. It was wonderful to get the desserts taken care of and not worry about a thing!

At the reception, my guests were running up to me raving about the chocolate mouse cake and the pumpkin cheese cake we got from A.Pastry. Can't ask for more than that!

I couldn't be happier with this company. I will definitely use them again!

We had a four tier square cake designed by Alexandria Pastry Shop for our wedding - two tiers were Passion Fruit mousse, and two were Triple Chocolate Bavarian. It was delicious! They also designed my cake to match the design that was used on our wedding invitations... it looked awesome!

My wedding cake was wonderful! Everyone loved it! It was stunningly decorated with fresh fruit and we went with the Bavarian creme. The fondant was beautiful and tasty! I could not have asked for more!

Alexandria Pastry Shop did an incredible job with my wedding cake!! Not only did it look exactly like the picture I gave them (even better, actually), but it tasted better than I imagined. Fresh raspberry buttercream layered between almond cake... I can't wait to eat the top tier on our one year anniversary!!! They were very accommodating to all of my specific requests, and gave me very personalized service each time I came into the shop to go over the details. Also, they made a grooms cake for the rehearsal dinner that was equally as beautiful and tasty.

I would recommend Alexandria Pastry for your wedding cake. Tom was very professional. The cake was decorated nicely, as we had expected. Our cake was simple with german chocolate and yellow cake; both were very tasty and moist.

We were delighted with the two wedding cakes prepared and delivered by Alexandria Pastry Shop! We selected a raspberry and white chocolate mousse for one and a small sugar free cake for the other. Comments were all favorable. They decorated the cake so beautifully, as well! We were very happy with their products, both in esthetics and in taste!
