To future brides : The best gift you can receive is the ability to be fully present in every moment on our wedding day. Anita gave us this gift. Everything was perfectly coordinated. She handled every situation with grace and professionalism. Not only she incredibly knowledgeable, but she is also so warm and approachable. Anita was always available when we had questions, and her flexibility made the entire planning process a breeze. We never once felt like we were bothering her, no matter how many details we wanted to go over. Her understanding and patience made the entire experience so much easier. Our guests are still talking about how seamlessly everything flowed throughout the day, and we have Anita to thank for that. Perfectly planned
I cannot say enough good things about Anita Kanellis of AK Brides! 💕
The days and weeks leading up to our wedding day were completely relaxed and stress-free, and that was all Anita!
We got engaged right before Thanksgiving and married the first weekend in February, so saying it was a short engagement would be an understatement. Even with the holidays during our engagement, Anita pulled everything together flawlessly.
I had multiple guests tell me that they had never been to an event that was so thoughtfully and perfectly planned for the ease and enjoyment of the guests.

Memorable experience with Anita!
Anita helped me plan a 200+ plus person multicultural wedding from out of state. We had a Hindu ceremony and also exchanged traditional vows. She got up to speed on our vision and executed it flawlessly, including helping us to execute the Indian cultural aspects of the wedding (including the planning for the mandap/baraat /sangeet). She was responsive, attentive, and easy to work with. I could not have asked for a better wedding planner. She knows the players in the Birmingham wedding scene well and helped us coordinate with professional and great vendors. We could not have pulled off our wedding events without her. I would recommend her in a heartbeat. You will not be disappointed if you chose to work with her. I interviewed a lot of wedding planners and knew she would be great fit due to her relaxed attitude and confidence. She can run with any vision and she can also most certainly handle a multicultural wedding. -

Highly recommend Anita!
After getting engaged as a full-time grad student, I knew I needed someone to help plan the wedding. I contacted several Birmingham wedding planners. Most replied back with an automated generic response. However, Anita was personal and approachable from the beginning. She wanted to hear about me, my fiancé, our visions, and our budget. From our first meeting to the wedding day, she never once pushed me to spend more than my budget allowed. She respected it and worked tirelessly to find a team of vendors that fit my style while staying within a price range. She went above and beyond to make our entire wedding weekend the best it could be. I honestly miss all the calls, meetings, texts, and e-mails with her! She is such a joy and I highly recommend her!! -

Wonderful working with Anita
Anita was professional ,organized, calm, kind and patient . I am so thankful that we hired Anita as our wedding planner. Anita made our daughter's wedding come together just as Allison had envisioned. Anita was always there to answer calls, texts and emails and to let us know that all was taken care of . She introduced us to an awesome list of vendors - florist, photographer , cake bakery, venue , caterer, etc. She was always there to take care of the details and make sure everything was all set. Thanks to Anita we were able to relax and enjoy the planning process and most importantly the wedding weekend. -

Truly Wonderful
Anita is not only very kind and caring, but will go above and beyond to help you (and your family or any parties involved) feel taken care of and relaxed on your wedding day! Our wedding was very detailed and an involved process combining three different cultures, but it turned out wonderfully! I would not have wanted to work with anyone else, she really cares about her brides!-

Anita is very special! She's genuine and sweet with lots of knowledge, expertise and connections! Our daughter's wedding day would not have been flawless without Anita's skills and talents! She is an absolute joy to work with and spent so much time answering our questions, guiding us along the planning process and making sure everything was perfect on the day of the wedding! Anita was the absolute best wedding coordinator as was her assistant, Stacy. Anita would respond to my (probably unnecessary) texts/emails within an hour with either the answer or an “I’ll get back to you asap” message. She calmed me and assured me my day would be the best (and it was) and she also was able to answer the tough questions I had no idea about like strings of lights, tent vs no tent, silverware or not. I could go on and on. Anita is smart, savvy, well connected, calm, cool, and happy. She got my style and ideas immediately and made sure all my dreams came true on my wedding today. She listened to me, answered my questions and everything was drama free. I totally recommend Anita and Stacy as wedding coordinators!! -

Anita is incredible. She was always easy to contact with any question. She was prompt in responding to any call, text or email. She has a wonderful reputation with vendors and has worked with so many in the area. We were told many times that (if Anita is your planner you will have no worries). After speaking with my daughter, Anita set up interviews with vendors with whom she felt could provide the outcome my daughter desired for her wedding. I just can't say enough about Anita. She was excellent in the planning process, thought of things we would never have considered, made sure we got the best value for our money, very receptive to our ideas and how to accomplish them. Anita was prompt in replies and for meetings. She was always pleasant and made this process so much better. Her working relationship with the vendors is fabulous. The day of the rehearsal and wedding were so much calmer because she took everything on and made it such a wonderful day for the family and friends.
Before this experience I never had thought of a wedding planner. Now its the first thing that I say to anyone planning a wedding "call Anita"!!!! -

This was our first wedding as a parents of the bride, and AK Brides was super helpful in navigating us through all of the planning and organization that goes into a wedding. Anita Kanellis is a wedding-saver! My son and his now-wife live abroad, and since I was the only parent living in the U.S., I was in charge of both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding reception. I also took on a lot of DIY decor projects that made decorating for both these events a challenge. Two months before the wedding, I realized that without help I'd never get to enjoy a minute of either the rehearsal dinner or reception. I hired Anita for "day of" coordination services and never looked back. She thinks of everything! Her detailed timelines and calm and competent manner allowed me to relax and enjoy a joyous weekend, and I can't thank or recommend her enough! -

Anita is amazing!! I can not imagine planning a wedding without her. She is on top of everything, organized and very quick to respond. She was such a big help with my daughter's wedding especially since I live out of town and could not always make it to the vendor meetings. Anita has such a calming personality and whenever we would start to worry about something we just said " Anita will take care of it" and she always did! Anita is very conscious of budget concerns and worked very hard to keep us without our budget. On the home from the wedding, my husband said that he thought the best money we spent was on Anita. In the beginning, I was opposed to using a wedding planner. Too expensive and not necessary were my thoughts, although my opinions came primarily from what I had seen on TV and Movies. My daughter convinced me to just look into it, so I googled "Wedding Planners Birmingham", and found Anita Kanellis. I showed my daughter the site, and we both got so excited because what we saw on the AK Brides website just fit our personality so beautifully. Anita seemed so genuine, humble and appeared to really care. We both fell in love from her the minute we met her, and the experience just got better as time passed. Anita was comforting to me as a mother, full of wonderful information and ideas, and put together a top-notch team for us. She ALWAYS returned my phone calls and her work ethic and follow up was impeccable. As I'm typing, it feels really odd to say that we felt truly loved and cared for by the team of vendors, but that is the way we felt, and my daughters wedding day was everything she had dreamed of and more. There are so many vendors to find the photographer, cake, caterer etc. it can be overwhelming and a wrong decision can be disastrous. No worries if Anita is your planner. Ohhh goodness, what would I do without Anita!?! Hiring Anita was one of my best decisions I made during my wedding planning process. Our wedding went PERFECTLY, and it's obvious that's the goal for Anita in every wedding she plans. An important quality I was looking for in a wedding planner was responsiveness and communication. in all your expenditures please consider a wedding coordinator if not a wedding planner. I did all the planning however the person who ties everything together and ensures that the wedding day runs smoothly, should not be the mother of the bride or the bride. There is no way you can enjoy this momentous dayif you're worried about what comes next and when. Give yourself a treat and spend the money - you're spending it on everybody else. you may regret other things but you'll never regret spending this money. -

I am actually a very organized person or so I thought until I hired Anita Kanellis to assist me in my daughter's wedding. Not only did she thoroughly cover every detail way beyond my expectations, she went the extra mile to deal with any unexpected events that might raise their head during the festivities.
I would not even consider planning another wedding without her help. She is my first hire from here on out. In the long run she actually saved us several hundred dollars as she kept us from making mistakes along the way. I cant say enough praises about her skillset as well as her kind and concerned personality. -

I would recommend Anita to other brides looking for a wedding planner. Anita is very experienced and knowledgeable. She was able to provide me with suggestions of reputable vendors she had worked with in the past. She also worked well with seeking out new vendors and insuring they would be reliable. She ordinated all the meetings with the vendors took notes at the meetings and knew what questions to ask. Throughout the planning process Anita keep a file of all the vendors’ information from our meetings and a budget. Most people will tell you when planning a wedding that everything is not going to go as planned, but honestly with Anita as my wedding planner everything turned out perfect. The day of the wedding was a dream. Anita was very professional in handling all the coordination of the vendors, making the day run very smoothly. Anita was available to talk with any time day or night throughout the process. Anita has been in the business along time and has a great reputation. She is great at what she does and she truly loves making brides happy. -

Anita was so great to me and my mom during my planning process! Most brides told me that I would not remember a single moment of my wedding day and it would be over in a flash. Well, it sort of was over before I knew it; however, because Anita was there I was able to relax all day. We were constantly ahead of schedule. After pictures I was even able to take my dress off, put on a silky white robe, and sit and have wine with my mom and bridesmaids for a whole hour. We listened to music and laughed. Everything ran so smooth and it was the day of my dreams. Even my not-so-involved fiance had a BLAST and shed several tears of happiness. I know that things would not have run so well without Anita. If she hadn't been there, it would have been me or my mom who was running around like mad-women. We left that job to Anita! :) I suggest EVERY BRIDE have an Anita on her team! -

Anita is the best!
Anita was absolutely wonderful! We spent a year and a half planning our wedding and she was there each step of the way. Our original plan was for an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, but just over a week before the wedding weather forecasts predicted rain and we had to change everything. Anita helped us (read: me) stay calm and did everything to ensure that our rain plan was just as beautiful as our original would have been.
The actual wedding day was seamless. She was with us from the early morning when we started to get ready and all the way through the night. She attended to every need we had and then some! Her careful planning, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness really came through to create a beautiful celebration of love. We couldn’t be more thankful for Anita! -

Anita was very flexible in planning our wedding - especially with us being out of town bride/groom. She fought for us with some of our vendors and introduced us to all of our FAVORITE vendors (chef bob for catering, melissa bogardus for makeup).
We were very budget-conscious, so I don't think we got to experience that part of Anita. She was more the "dreamer" in this situation and we were the "realists." She did try to keep our vision in mind when introducing us to vendors and in our meetings with them.
In terms of day of wedding coordination, I think this is her strong suit - she really seemed confident and calm and collected during this whole process, allowing me and my groom and our families to enjoy the events of the wedding weekend. -

For Indian wedding I would not recommend Anita
Horrible wedding planner. She is not detail oriented. she claimed she had done Indian wedding. with such high price tag. she did nothing on day of the wedding.
1. wedding " Mandap" decoration trees were blocking view of guest, she knew , decorator knew but they both went ahead with it, not taking initiative to bring it to my attention or my son's. entire wedding all guest could see was the trees.
2. Caterer was late setting up mix up between renaissance and caterer, Anita was nowhere to be found.
3. flower girls flower petals I had to look for them, garland that were to be carried by nephews tray that should have been collected and ready was not ready, I had to chase everything. I asked Anita and event manager to have chair set up in front of the entrance where we needed to do ritual that was asked in the morning, it was not set up. so ritual did not get done Baraat - started without it .
4. She has no clue what to do and what Indian wedding requires. Ganesh table was to set up at the entrance of the wedding Banquet hall it was set up somewhere on side of the hall way. this was clearly instructed before. one of the deity photo and statue was to be set up in Mandap, did not get it done.
5. She never interacted with caterer on the day of the wedding to ensure he was there on time. Food did not get passed thru cocktail hours wedding planner was nowhere to be found, event manager was nowhere to be found. I had found all the vendors gave her name and no of each and every vendors all she had to do on the day of the wedding to make sure all vendors and all items were in place. wedding planner was not seen by any of 168 guest . she was never there to oversee that everything was there. If she did not know ritual, if she knew tress were blocking view, if there was ever a doubt or question she never lifted a finger to bring it to my attention. before wedding she never communicated with me to understand what all needs to be there. If you are looking for a wedding planner I don't care what and how many Indian wedding she claims she has done, do not use her. Wedding planner biggest quality is detail oriented, she is not, event after event planner makes sure everything goes in smooth flow. each and every event My son called me instead a wedding planner should be handling situation. Instead I was dealing with everything. I wondered where is my wedding planner? -
