Airlie was our dream wedding venue. They catered to every idea I had for the wedding, and they made everything I thought impossible, possible! They give European-like architecture with a Versailles-style garden to complement. The luxury of having 3 different locations for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in the Formal Gardens was perfect. The food and bar service was excellent and the food was excellent as well. Room and board for our guests was seamless and accommodating to every need. Even the bridal breakfast catering to the After party at Harry’s exceeded everyone’s expectations. I am so grateful to Airlie for giving my husband and I the best dream wedding we could ask for.Airlie's reply:

I just had my wedding at the Airlie this past weekend and I want to start by saying WOW!
Everything down to the little details was perfect! And I have Marcela to thank for that. My now-husband and I had no idea what all goes into planning a wedding and Marcela made sure we checked everything off the list and had even the week before to pretty much relax before our big day. All our guests raved about how beautiful it was and how much fun they had, some even said it was the best wedding they've been to!
I also want to give a shout out to Dominique at the front desk who helped us NUMEROUS times while us and our guests stayed on the property.
Thank you Mac at Harry's who helped us move our Welcome Party on property last minute when our other plans fell through. It was a huge effort from everyone working at Airlie and we couldn't be more appreciative.
We look forward to many more Airlie visits in the future and would recommend it to any of our friends! :) -

Airlie was hiding under my nose the whole time when it came to what I was looking for in a venue. They were so incredibly flexible and easy to work with. Airlie's natural surroundings and breathtaking location acted as the perfect canvas, allowing us to effortlessly bring our entire wedding vision to life. With the outdoor element being so important to me, you are surrounded by nature no matter where you go. The whole property is a hidden oasis and deserves more recognition. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day to get married. I love Airlie for the inclusivity of everything. I had my wedding at Airlie on labor day weekend and I have to say, I heard nothing but compliments about the venue.
The venue was absolutely GORGEOUS, quite literally it was like its own little world away from the business of the outside life. The places I decided to have my wedding were: The old post room for the bride getting ready area, the west room for the groom getting ready area, the garden room for the Chinese tea ceremony, the Airlie front lawn and butterfly garden for the normal ceremony, and the smokehouse and lakeside tent for the reception.
Overall, I had a really awesome time working with Airlie team in planning for the big day. We did call and decide things during the holiday season which caused a slight delay in responses but again, it was holiday season so 100% understandable.
Shout out to Erica for being an awesome sales rep/wedding planner. You were there from the very beginning of the planning phase all the way to the end. You helped us plan out the perfect locations for all the little segments of the day and I have to say, it all came out perfectly.
Also shoutout to the staff that helped us at tasting (I'm so sorry I can remember their names) but tasting was super helpful and the chef came at the end to ask us how everything was and we could ask all the questions we needed to right then and there.
Also to the rest of Airlie employee who helped us with location to location transport, helped keep the lake house floor sparkly clean despite the number of ducks present, helped setup the tables and chairs exactly how we wanted them to be. Just...thank you!!Airlie's reply:

Beautiful grounds in the heart of Virginia countryside
I can't say enough good things about Airlie as our event venue. I was hesitant at first, but after touring and see the grounds in person, this garden oasis made the perfect sense to celebrate our wedding. We were lucky to get a great reception package and everyone on the Airlie team (especially Kari!) were so integral to making it the beautiful day I had hoped for. Don't hesitate to book with them! -

The Airlie is such a gorgeous venue. When I stepped onto the grounds I knew it was the perfect venue for me and my beloved. The guests LOVED the campus and that everything was so secluded and accessible. It’s like the perfect weekend wedding getaway at home! Staff and service was phenomenal and the chef was amazing! Everyone loved the food and desserts! -

We had our dream wedding!
We loved having our wedding at the Airlie. We had both our ceremony and our reception there, and we were very happy with how both came out. Our ceremony was held in the formal gardens, and our reception was in the Pavilion. We had about 60 people, and both the ceremony and reception areas still had the intimate feeling we were hoping for despite being able to accommodate a much larger number of guests. As we went through the wedding planning process, we came to realize how much of an impact the venue itself can have on feel of the wedding, so we chose to let the beauty of the Airlie do the heavy lifting and spent a lot less on additional décor. We were really happy with how that decision came out, as we had many people tell us how beautiful our wedding was throughout the day. We also chose to add a fire pit rental (with smores) at the end of the night, and it was the perfect way to wind everything down and let people have the experience of an "after party" without having to actually account for another location and more logistics. More to that point, having everything be in one location was extremely convenient and one benefit we had not thought about beforehand. Finally, everything went very smoothly during the planning process and during the day of the wedding itself. We worked with Kari and appreciated her professionalism and responsiveness. Overall, we loved it. Driving away after our very first visit, we had a feeling of this venue being "the One", and we were certainly right to think so. -

Please check out Airlie for your wedding celebrations!! We had originally planned to have our wedding at a different venue, but due to unfortunate circumstances, we needed to find a new venue exactly one month before the wedding. The Airlie graciously took us in and was able to plan THE EXACT wedding we had been dreaming of for the last two years. The entire staff was so friendly, supportive and helpful. Special shout out to Kari who helped facilitate our whole weekend - I often referred to her as my Fairy Godmother. Airlie made it SO easy to be a one-stop-shop for our rehearsal dinner, welcome party (for folks in town Friday night), getting ready for the wedding, BEAUTIFUL photos, ceremony/reception, after party, and hotel accommodations. Our family coming in from out of town loved that they didn't need to drive all over the place for each event, and our friends from the DC area loved that they could escape the city for a weekend. We got so many compliments on the venue. I hadn't originally planned to have my wedding here because it's a huge property and I wanted something more private.. but I was wrong. The Airlie felt SO private because it's so big you're separated enough from the public that you don't even know they're there. If I had to plan my wedding over again, I would have chosen this venue from the start. :) -

Dream wedding weekend!
Our wedding weekend at Airlie was a complete dream! From the rehearsal dinner to the wedding day and the day-after breakfast, Airlie exceeded our expectations.
We booked Airlie in fall 2019, before the pandemic, and had to reschedule our initial date. Not only did Airlie accommodate our request, they never charged us a postponement fee or additional costs of any kind, which is rare (especially given the tough business environment facing so many venues). As we dealt with more pandemic-related planning curveballs, Airlie continued to be flexible, accommodating, and kind, going above and beyond to make our weekend as lovely as possible. We need to give a special shout-out to LYDIA, who not only helped us with all of this along the way, but who seemed so genuinely thrilled for us to be getting married at Airlie—it was very sweet and meant a lot to us.
Beyond the accommodating nature, the ACTUAL EXPERIENCE of getting married at Airlie is one we will cherish for the rest of our lives. What an amazing environment for us to be with so many loved ones for the first time in years. The rehearsal dinner in The Market at Airlie (gorgeous industrial space!) created such a warm and community-focused start to the weekend. The buffet was also UNREAL—the Airlie catering staff pulled off short rib, seafood bouillabaisse, and other potentially tough dishes in a supremely delicious way. The beautiful lake view and fire pit at The Market really topped off the evening.
We rented the Groome’s Cottage to stay in for the weekend—it’s a lovely getting ready space because there is a nicely sized lounge area and a deck (in addition to private rooms). The bride, her mom, and 10 women of honor were able to comfortably spend all day together in this space and really make themselves at home! The groom and his people of honor got ready in the Game Room by the pool. This was also very fun; they played pool, chess, and foosball. Both groups also ordered lunch from Airlie—sandwiches, wraps, etc. It was all DELICIOUS—energizing, filling but not too much so, and so fresh! (Honestly, all of the food we had was actually even better day-of than it was at our tasting.)
There are so many stunning spaces at Airlie. Our guests later reported that they had a great time exploring the property. And we loved being able to have our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in different parts of the venue. One thing that appealed to us early on when we were deciding on a venue was that Airlie staff always made us feel so welcome as we visited the property, and that spirit was present during our wedding weekend as well. They even added hooks to the reception space to accommodate a design request.
Finally, the breakfast on Sunday was delicious and excellent fare for hangovers. A+ all around. In all seriousness, we will forever treasure our dream wedding weekend at Airlie. -

Andrea Sent on 08/28/2020Five stars from Airlie's first couple after reopening from the pandemic shut down
My husband and I were originally going to get married in May at Airlie, but due to COVID, we moved it to August and due to Virginia being open for events up to 250 we were on the hook for the wedding in August, unable to move it again. A couple of months ago when I thought about writing this review, I was planning on having some words to say because we went through a lot of different Airlie coordinators from booking in January of 2019 to moving our wedding in March of 2020 and the communication during that time was not always the greatest. My impression completely changed over the past few months.
No one was prepared to navigating planning a wedding during a global pandemic, so naturally there were some bumps in the road and while we had wanted to move our wedding again, we knew that decision was up to Virginia and it was what it was. All we could do was reduce our guest count and put in as many safety precautions as possible for the day (we were a very pro-mask-as all people should be-wedding). Airlie ended up being incredibly cautious and responsive to our extra precautions we wanted in place. Not only is it already such a beautiful, predominantly outdoors venue, they let us reduce our guest count in June (including getting money back), put sanitizer stations all over the grounds, food guards by the food, created a seating plan to ensure those not of the same household were seated six feet apart, enforced wearing masks indoors and when not 6 feet apart, and closed the grounds so that we were the only guests on site. Lydia, our coordinator, could not have been more empathetic and helpful and we genuinely felt supported by all the Airlie staff we worked with in the weeks leading up to the wedding. They even helped us problem solve when the bulk of our desserts had to be canceled the night before the wedding due to a possible COVID exposure. Airlie's chef ended up adding in a ton more desserts last minute at no extra cost (since we had paid for more people than were actually attending at that point). We had the most beautiful, COVID-compliant wedding and felt incredibly special all weekend. We are also happy to say that all our precautions were successful and not one person contracted COVID from our wedding (everyone monitored for symptoms and a lot of people got tested after just to be safe)! While I would never wish having to plan a wedding in the middle of a pandemic on anyone, I am so happy to say that Airlie helped us create the most healthy and beautiful day we could ask for!

The spaces they have are akin to something you'd find in an english garden overseas and the manor and rooms are like the high end resorts you'd find in Charlottesville or Nantucket! Mallory Sent on 10/16/2017Airlie is by far the best venue I have ever come across. I searched for weeks, at least viewing 30 venues in my area, and nothing came close to Airlie. It's absolutely beautiful! As soon as we arrived I knew it was the place I wanted to remember the rest of my life. They have it all; multiple ceremony space, reception areas, amazing food, drink, accommodations on site, and activities galore! The staff is amazing, so helpful and kind. I worked closely with Shiloh and Quaid, the event coordinators, and they are outstanding! They made sure everything went perfect on our big day, and we can't thank them enough! Love Airlie, and we plan on visiting for anniversaries and get aways in the future!!

My daughter and son in law were married in our local Parish Church at the end of May and we decided we wanted as close to turnkey reception as we could get! Airlie pavilion was amazing! We were able to handle 180 guests, with dance floor, mid range bar, and delicious 2 entree buffet! Everyone had a wonderful time and the Good Lord provided perfect weather that allowed us to open the all glass walls! It was a magical day and Airlie staff was amazing! Marcela was so helpful and accommodating and really allowed us relax and enjoy ourselves after she helped us plan down to the smallest detail. Thanks so much!Airlie's reply:

Airlie was a beautiful venue for our wedding. Our wedding was in August so we wanted to stay inside the A/C while still having an outdoor feel. Airlie’s spaces allowed for an indoor ceremony and reception and gorgeous outdoor photos. It was everything we could’ve hoped for. Overall the staff was helpful as we were planning the wedding and made the entire wedding weekend phenomenal. Additionally their in-house catering was amazing. The chefs were great with accommodating food allergies and preferences. We would definitely recommend this venue for a wedding. We only looked at 2 venues early in our planning and after we checked out the Airlie gardens we were set for our October 2020 wedding. That is, until COVID changed things. Airlie was so helpful and understanding despite their own challenges facing the pandemic and allowed us to reschedule for a new date in October 2021 without any issue which we greatly appreciated! The day was perfect though the threat of rain loomed late into the week. The Airlie staff was on top of everything and everything went off without a hitch. Our guests enjoyed their stay in the updated rooms and loved the grounds, especially Harry’s on Friday evening for some before bed drinks.
Everything was set up to our specification perfectly! All the credit goes to Lydia, who answered many a question in the planning phase and helped us through the process greatly. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars for responsiveness is because Airlie really needs to get Lydia some support (easier said than done these days I know). She is wearing multiple hats and really is owning it, and I swear must be a machine for her ability to juggle all her responsibilities and still have time for all the couples, planners, etc. filing in and out each weekend. On only a couple of occasions we had some difficulty getting answers to questions, but totally understand that Lydia is one person coordinating weddings and major events for the property. So Airlie if you’re reading this, Lydia is an all star, but get her some more support staff at least!
To Lydia, thank you for everything. You made our weekend magical, and your flexibility with a couple of last minute changes was greatly appreciated, and also thank you for your incredible patience dealing with both our mothers! -

The grounds are stunning and photo ready. Our guests couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful the grounds were and how convenient everything was with it all in one place.
The staff is great. The food is top-notch, farm-to-table meals that will have every guest happy.
Our wedding had to be postponed because of COVID and the staff were incredibly understanding and easy to work with. They communicated everything we needed to know for planning a safe COVID wedding.

Although staffing had been impacted over the last year with a several POCs turning over, the whole team there made it the best weekend we could have imagined. We were so happy with our experience at Airlie. Lauren was our point of contact, and made everything run smoothly! We were so happy to have all of our wedding events at one gorgeous location. So many of our guests commented on how much they loved the venue! It's a great spot to vacation, to enjoy a nice meal at, and was especially lovely for our wedding. One of the things we loved about Airlie was that we were able to have everything in one spot - no driving necessary!
Lauren was great in helping us through the events of the day. She especially took control of unexpected situations. When our outdoor ceremony was rained (and hailed!) out by a freak storm only 30 minutes before starting, Lauren helped with reorganizing everything to be pushed inside as we waited an hour for the ceremony to start. Lauren made sure everything ran smoothly, quickly changing over the dining room into a lovely ceremony location!
Best of all, because of all the unforeseen events, our wedding was suddenly pushed back nearly an hour. Lauren and the Airlie staff offered to extend our contract of the event space for the reception, and kept the bar open later for the after-party events. We were so thankful to have everyone at Airlie helping make our wedding a wonderful night to remember!

Daniella Sent on 12/30/2016Everything about Airlie is just beautiful! I fell in love with it as soon as I discovered it researching it online. The pictures show how gorgeous it is, but when you see it in person it takes your breath away! The venue is so picturesque, perfect for those wedding portraits to last a lifetime. The food is absolutely delicious! Locally grown organic food, with a menu that is different from any of your other typical wedding venue. The food is well seasoned, beautifully presented.
Most of our guests came from out of town so they stayed at Airlie a couple of nights. They had an amazing time and very enjoyable stay! They are all still talking about how perfect of a venue it was for our wedding and that they would love to go back one day! The staff at Airlie is very pleasant and very helpful through out the whole wedding planning process.
We can't wait to go back and have a weekend get away again.
My big advice to future brides, is keep a detailed list on where you would want your photos taken if your photographer has never been there before. The day of the wedding you wont be able to think of any of the details you want because there's a million things going on in your mind! Also, let the kitchen know how to cut your cake.... The only downside I had at the venue was the wedding cake slices where little birthday cake slices. I ended up having 2 extra sheets of cake left over.

Christy Sent on 07/20/2010I fell in love with Airlie as soon as my fiance' showed it to me the weekend he proposed. Thankfully my Mom did too when we brought her a few months later. It is a little more expensive then other venues, but it is worth it since everything, but the dj, florist, cake, and photographer is included. The food is fabulous!! We had a buffet dinner but they offered to serve us (the bride and groom) to help keep things moving. The staff was accommodating and willing to answer questions before hand, but sometimes you had to wait a couple of days to get a response. We received nothing but compliments about our wedding and we had a great time ourselves too :) -

We could not have been more happy with our choice of Airlie for our wedding. Marcela and the rest of the staff made our day very special and our guests are still talk about the event.
Staff: Marcela was very responsive and worked patiently with us to make sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. She worked with our wedding coordinator to make sure our vendors had windows for delivery and set up, and that everything went smoothly and stayed on time. The hotel staff was helpful is adding extra rooms beyond our initial block and were patient with last minute changes. The service staff was fantastic as well. They were attentive to our guests and very friendy.
Food and Beverages: Airlie offered several food and drink packages so we could customize to our needs. This included plenty of options to accommodate dietary preferences. We ordered passed appetizers for our cocktail hour and the food was delicious and plentiful. The dinner during the reception was delicious and served on time.
Venue: The venue itself was a huge selling point. The grounds are beautiful and extensive. Our guests all stayed on site and were able to enjoy the grounds before the wedding and the next day before checkout. The location for the ceremony is amazing and provided a wonderful background for our photos. The area for the cocktail reception felt like a garden party and provided an intimate environment. The ceremony was held in the pavilion which is lined with windows that provided a wonderful view of the gardens as the sun set and provided ample space for dinner and dancing. Additionally, we added o. The after party at Harry’s which allowed us to keep the party going a bit longer before being able to walk back to our rooms. The venue itself was perfect for what we were looking for.
Airlie and all the staff made our wedding very special. Our friends and family talk about how much they not only enjoyed the wedding itself but the entire weekend.

Airlie is a gorgeous place for a wedding. It made for the perfect weekend. We hosted all of our events there from the rehearsal to the post-wedding brunch. It was absolutely amazing. The pavilion felt like a magical place to have a reception and the ability to open the doors all around was so fun. The only thing I felt could have been improved throughout the process was that the planning staff were overwhelmed by the workload they had and this sometimes led to delays in responses. Overall though, it all came together in the end and the day turned out exactly as we had hoped and it was such an amazing place to have all our loved ones come and celebrate our special day! Would recommend checking out Airlie's beautiful property in person and you won't be able to resist!! It is a perfect place to have everyone stay and celebrate!Airlie's reply:

Stephanie Sent on 07/21/2017Our wedding was an amazing a beautiful day. But, I cant give Airlie 5 stars. The reason I am giving them 4.5 is because of Shiloh. She was such a pleasure to work with and we could not have planned a wedding in 3 months without her. The land is beautiful and I felt so confident about our day going into it. Shiloh helped us to lay out everything exactly as we wanted it, we had a perfect rain plan in case of bad luck- thankfully we didn't need it- and we had every detail planned. Unfortunately Airlie staff must not have gotten the message. Signs were not placed directing our guests where to go until 45 min after the ceremony had started- and thankfully so because my last name was misspelled on it! Our tables and chairs for the reception weren't set up until an hour after we had agreed they would be- and for a morning wedding with a 10AM start time- that hour meant that some of my guests had to help set up the decor! Some of the tables had black linens on them- when I chose my color scheme of forest green, ivory and blush I didn't envision how bad black would look but I got an eye-full at my reception. The tent walls were left down after me asking several staff the day before to make sure they were opened, so I was totally ignored. Shiloh and I had worked so hard on the perfect day and Airlie staff were just not motivated to carry that out. Overall, I would recommend Airlie because, goodness it is gorgeous and the food is incredible, but I would HIGHLY recommend you have a wedding planner there to ensure your vision is actually carried out by the staff. -

Erica Williams was spectacular—from planning to day-of coordination, she handled everything with grace. Her warmth and competence kept us calm and confident.
The venue is stunning, with a meaningful Earth Day connection that added depth to our celebration. Beautiful spaces, thoughtful flow, and a memorable backdrop for our vows.

Kristin Sent on 09/21/2018The venue itself & day-of service is a 5/5! Gardens are breathtakingly beautiful & pavilion is perfect. Adorable cottages. Food is wonderful; farm to table from their property. Banquet staff did a great job.
My review isn't 5 stars because of issues we had with Shiloh. Reviews said she was so responsive and although she was very sweet, I never found that. She took a long time getting back to us confirming the date. Queen/Queen rooms are all off the main property and limited. Not a problem, but we were never told that. These were never added to the block and were told they were sold out - 9 months in advance? She promised to notify me if any opened. Never heard back until I asked and all of sudden multiple were available. Never received a response from the director of reservations after reaching out to multiple times. Shiloh got a new job 1 month out - fine, but we were only told less than a week before her departure. It was frustrating we had no warning so close to our wedding. But Quaid took over, did an amazing job and was really responsive!
Airlie can feel expensive ($2,500 ceremony fee, 22% service fee) but overall its totally worth it. Airlie was the type of venue I'd always dreamed of. We had the best wedding and I wouldn't change a thing about it!
Future couples: ask lots of very detailed questions up front & be proactive. We did this, but still ran into issues. Have a plan for photos if it rains, there aren't many good indoor spots. We did a first look before the rain started but didn't have a backup. Ask for Quaid if there's more than one wedding manager! You can buy beer & wine from Harry's for afterparty in cottages.
Airlie: Ditch the pavilion fan, its ugly. Provide list of guests staying under the block - I work in events, its standard practice. Allow for welcome bags or volunteer alternate options, wedding day after ours used them but I was told a flat no. Add a second bar to minimize wait times. -
