We used Abbey Catering for our 5/31/26 wedding at the Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla and they made our dream wedding possible. We chose to use Abbey exclusively for every aspect of our wedding – rentals, catering, photography, DJ, and florist. Their all-inclusive package made wedding planning very easy (especially as two medical students planning from out of state) and customizable to what you want. Our wedding coordinator, David, made planning very easy and answered any questions that came up. Using all Abbey vendors made it very easy to plan as they were all familiar with the venue and team so they were able to provide a lot of guidance and suggestions. The package was also budget friendly for a beach side wedding especially compared to our caters allowed at Scripps.
On the day of the wedding, everything went very smoothly from set-up to clean-up. All of our guests had a blast and David led us through the day seamlessly and felt like we could enjoy each moment (including being able to actually eat dinner and cocktail apps). Every detail of the wedding was beautiful and the food was delicious! Of our Abbey vendors, we thoroughly enjoyed working with Chris Wood (photographer), Cameron (DJ from Wedding Entertainment Collective), and Mishele (Florist, Emerald & Ivy). We would be happy to work with Abbey again and 10/10 recommend them for a wedding at Scripps Seaside.

For anyone planning an event or wedding, look no further than Abbey Catering and Events. Troy set our minds at ease by ensuring us our non-standard wedding could easily come to life because all of their offerings and services were fully customizable. On top of that, he took the time to get to know us and understand our vision for this wedding.
David and Petr took over from there to flesh out the wedding details, providing their expertise to ensure we didn't miss anything and communicated with us regularly to ensure the planning process happened in a timely manner, thereby reducing stress.
Petr was our day-of coordinator, and the day could not have gone more perfectly. Petr is thoughtful, considerate, detail-oriented, and has amazing vision. We were able to focus on enjoying the wedding knowing Petr had the whole event under control.
The day really was a dream and it's all thanks to the magnificent Abbey team (especially Petr!). Abbey is a one-stop shop for anything you need for your event. We booked the photographer, DJ, photobooth, and all the catering services through Abbey. This meant, we only had one point of contact for the majority of the wedding. So convenient! All our guests had such a great time. The food was exquisite, drinks were tasty, photobooth was a hit, and dancefloor was LIT (shoutout to Brian, the best DJ). We used Abbey Catering for our wedding on May 16th in San Diego and could not have asked for a better team to be part of such an important day. From start to finish, everything was executed with incredible precision, professionalism, and attention to detail.
The dinner & hors d'oeuvres were fantastic, beautifully presented, delicious and one of the things our guests continued talking about afterward. What really stood out to us throughout planning was the level of personalization and flexibility they offered. They made the process feel collaborative and helped bring our vision to life rather than making us fit into a standard package.
On the wedding day itself, their timing and organization were absolutely flawless. Catering is one of those things guests don’t always notice unless something goes wrong and with Abbey, everything flowed so seamlessly that we were able to stay present and actually enjoy the day.
A huge thank you to Chuck, our coordinator, who truly ran a tight ship in the best possible way. Wedding days can be chaotic with a million moving parts, but Chuck kept everything moving smoothly, stayed organized, anticipated needs before they came up, and made sure everyone was where they needed to be at the right time. Choosing Abbey was hands-down the best decision we made for our wedding. They covered essentially everything we needed at an incredibly reasonable price, and having a single point of contact for the majority of our vendors made the entire process so much easier. We added the planning services to our package and were paired with Chuck—and honestly, shoutout to Chuck because he was absolutely amazing! He was supportive, communicative, and stayed by our side through over a year of planning to help us achieve our dream day. Every single vendor provided by Abbey was fantastic. The food and drinks were delicious, and our DJ and videographer were a total breeze to work with. We had the absolute pleasure of working with the Abbey Catering and Events team, and we truly cannot recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, everything was handled with such care, professionalism, and attention to detail—it made our day feel effortless and unforgettable.
A huge thank you to Will for his clear, thoughtful communication from the very beginning. He took the time to walk us through every detail, answer all of our questions, and make us feel completely confident in the process.
Petr was also incredibly helpful throughout the planning process—so kind, enthusiastic, and genuinely a joy to work with. We especially loved getting to meet both him and Will in person at their incredible food tasting, which made us even more excited (and confident!) about our choices.
The food was truly out of this world and deserves a special shoutout. During cocktail hour, guests raved about the hummus and pita, bacon-wrapped dates, arancini balls, and mini beef Wellingtons—each bite was flavorful and perfectly prepared. For dinner, we chose a dual entrée of salmon and pork served with seasonal vegetables and truffle mashed potatoes, and it exceeded every expectation. Multiple guests told us it was some of the best salmon they’ve ever had. The vegetarian curry cauliflower steak was also absolutely delicious and such a standout dish. We heard over and over again that this was the best wedding food our guests had ever experienced—and as the bride and groom, we completely agree!
All of their partnered vendors were excellent and we feel so lucky to have been connected with all of them through Abbey.
Mishele’s floral arrangements were nothing short of stunning—every piece was beautifully designed and elevated the entire atmosphere of our event. We received so many compliments on the flowers!
Renato and everyone at SugarBear Sweet Provisions absolutely blew us away with the cake and cupcakes—they were not only gorgeous but also incredibly delicious. Our guests are still talking about them!
Tareq was a joy to work with, and he even brought out his drone to use to capture footage of our special day! We cannot wait to see his wedding video, he is so talented.
DJ Brain was incredible!!! His communication was excellent, and he brought so much positive energy to our event, set up our mic stands seamlessly, and got everyone onto the dance floor! My mom said she looked around at one point, and didn't see a single person of the 114 guests sitting down at the tables during the reception.
Chuck was truly a standout throughout the entire day. His coordination was flawless, ensuring everything ran seamlessly behind the scenes. We had so many small décor items, and he set up every single detail perfectly—it honestly exceeded anything we could have imagined. At one point, he even found double-sided sticky tape to make sure our candles stood up straight on every table. He went above and beyond in every way—bringing us plates of appetizers during cocktail hour and even surprising us with passionfruit mojitos throughout the night without us having to ask. That level of attentiveness meant so much to us.
And finally, the Abbey service staff were exceptional—professional, attentive, and incredibly kind. They made sure our guests were well taken care of and contributed so much to the overall experience.
We are beyond grateful to this entire team for making our event so special. Every detail was thoughtfully executed, and we felt completely taken care of the entire time. If you are getting married or planning an event in San Diego, do yourself a favor and book this team—you will not find a more talented, organized, and genuinely caring group of people. What a wonderful day and a more awesome team to work with :) Abbey catering was beyond amazing and blew our expectations!
From the start Will, who signed us up, was most helpful and really knew his information. We clicked instantly and it was such a pleasure to talk with him and meet him in person.
We signed up for the tasting before signing with Abbey Catering and that was such a great experience. We got to meet Will in person and there was so much food to try and luckily bring home. After meeting Will we really had a great feeling and signed up within that week. The food was incredible at the tasting, and it was hard choosing which entrée and hours d’oeuvres to choose from since everything was so good.
Chuck, our wedding coordinator, was beyond great and so helpful. He was such an asset to have on our side and really made the day go smooth. He was also so friendly and great to work with. We really felt like we made friends with our Abbey team 😊 There were absolutely no hiccups whatsoever and I was so calm the whole day.
David, our catering lead, was another amazing team member. He was right there to offer us food first and make sure we had enough of our share. The rest of the catering team always made us a priority too and I was very hungry after the ceremony in between pictures so that was so great.
We ordered the following for tray passed hors d’oeuvres: petite beef wellington, wild mushroom arancini, bruschetta, and bacon wrapped stuffed dates.
We opted for the dual entrée of the boneless short ribs, and the panko-herb crusted chicken with vegetables and the truffle smashed potatoes.
All were so good and I wish I could eat them all again 😊 Our guests could not stop raving about the food. They even made dietary restriction meals for several of our guests, and they said it was one of the best vegan/vegetarian meals they have ever had.
We really were impressed with the food and so glad we went with Abbey as that was important for us to have really good tasting food.
We opted for the whole package with their vendors for flowers, DJ, photographer, and cake. Best decision ever!!!
We had Emerald and Ivy for the florist and my goodness Mishele, and the Abbey team put together exactly what I pictured in my mind! Such beautiful flowers and we rented bud vases and candles from her.
DJ Abel from the Wedding Entertainment Collective was beyond amazing! He played our songs and knew the vibes we were going for. The dance floor was a hit, and our guests were dancing the whole night. Everyone was telling us the DJ was so good!
Misha, our photographer, was amazing and made us feel so comfortable. The pictures are so beautiful!
The cake and mini cupcakes from Sugar Bears Sweet Provisions were out of this world! I’m so glad we saved our wedding cake because we ate it the next day. Our guests loved the mini cupcakes too and we even had enough to give out at treats and take home.
We really are so grateful we decided to go with Abbey catering. They really went above and beyond. The whole team, Will, Chuck, David, and the caterers were 10 out of 10

Planning a wedding is stressful enough, but planning one in just a couple of months took that stress to another level. I had no idea where to even begin. A friend recommended the company she used—Abbey Catering—and I am genuinely so grateful she did. Their packages took an enormous weight off my shoulders because they covered all the major elements: food, florals, photography, and entertainment.
I also loved how flexible their packages were. You can tailor it to your needs. Troy, David, and the entire team made the whole experience incredibly easy. They responded quickly, asked thoughtful questions, and consistently checked in to make sure we were comfortable and confident. David executed our vision beautifully—everything turned out perfect. Shoutout to Leslie for bringing out hors d’oeuvres for us to enjoy while we waited to make our grand entrance to the reception.

Superb Wedding Catering by Abbey
Wedgewood Weddings provided catering services through Abbey Catering & Events for our December wedding in La Jolla, CA. We contacted the Abbey well ahead of time to receive a proposal for comparison with other catering groups.
One of the reasons we leaned toward the Abbey is due to our initial conversations with Will Konecki. He was so enjoyable to speak with, and he helped hash out the initial details for our event. He provided us relevant documentation for menus, event rentals, and details on the included floral package. Will also made suggestions for cost-effective solutions to achieve the event atmosphere we wanted to provide for our guests. Will’s event experience allowed him to answer all of our questions, and he was very responsive via phone and email.
We attended one of Abbey Catering’s tasting events where we met Will and other staff in person to taste the different appetizers and entrees. Some memorable favorites were the mini beef wellingtons, the feta-stuffed dates with bacon, and the sesame-soy glazed salmon. We were stuffed with all the food we tried, and we got to see some options for how the guest tables can be decorated. This is also where we met our assigned event manager.
Our assigned event manager was Petr Trebin. As our event date got closer, Petr was very communicative of upcoming deadlines and requirements. Petr was extremely fun to work with. He shared excitement in all his communications with us and made sure we were taken care of well before the event. Petr was onsite throughout the duration of our event and went above and beyond in taking care of us. For example, he set aside a plate of all our appetizers and signature drinks inside the bridal suite room so we could eat our appetizers and drink our beverages in private without having to wait in line. Furthermore, he checked in on us throughout the event to make sure everything was going well and we didn’t have any questions or requests. Before the evening ended, Petr noticed that we barely got to touch our entrees due to being occupied with our guests so Petr packed two meals for us to take home as well as bites from our dessert bar. Petr was a pleasure to work with, and he made the experience wonderful from start to finish. Post-wedding, he shared with us all the photos and videos he took during the event which was a nice gesture. Petr was the best!
We hired Abbey Catering for our wedding and they were truly incredible. From start to finish, their team made everything feel smooth and stress-free, especially Petr, our wedding coordinator. I cannot say enough good things about him. He was so attentive, organized, and supportive, especially during the week of the wedding. He handled communication with all of our vendors, double-checked every detail, and honestly made my life so much easier.
On the day of the wedding, my family couldn’t stop raving about how amazing he was. Petr checked in on us throughout the night, made sure we always had what we needed, saved appetizers and champagne for us during cocktail hour, and made sure we never missed a moment. He genuinely cared, and it showed. As a bonus, he captured the most amazing candid shots of us throughout the day.

No, I'm totally kidding. But seriously. Abbey Catering was unbelievable. Like, I don't say this lightly, but give them your money. They turned what could have been a thousand moving pieces into a simple, turnkey solution complete with recommendations, enjoyable professionalism, and unequivocal care on the actual day of the wedding.
They were flexible, fun, and helped pull off a semi-miracle on the day that we'd been planning for 11 months.
Long story short: if you want a team that can get it done, go with Abbey Catering. Seriously. Do it. For real.

The Abbey Catering made our wedding day absolutely perfect from start to finish. Planning a wedding across the country, from Virginia to California, could have been stressful, but their team made the process seamless, fun, and completely stress-free. Our package included almost everything — catering, rentals, florals, DJ, photo/video, photobooth, officiant, coordination, and more — and every single vendor exceeded expectations.
The food was phenomenal — we’re still hearing guests rave about how delicious it was! The floral arrangements were breathtaking and exactly the orangey-peach tones I envisioned, the rentals looked so elegant and cohesive, and the entire day flowed flawlessly.
A huge shout-out to our coordinator, Petr! He went above and beyond every step of the way. From the planning process to the final send-off, he kept everything organized, calm, and perfectly timed. He took my vision and decor and truly brought it to life — I couldn’t have asked for a better coordinator.
Another big shout-out to our photo/video team led by Chris Wood. They were professional, kind, and so intentional with every shot. They made us feel relaxed in front of the camera, captured every emotion beautifully, and I already know the photos and video will let us relive our day forever.
The Abbey truly made it possible for us to have the wedding of our dreams without the stress of searching for multiple reputable vendors. Their professionalism, communication, and attention to detail were unmatched.

Words cannot express how blown away we were by Abbey Catering! From the beginning of the planning process, Chuck was incredibly reassuring and brought a wealth of knowledge and tips from his many years in the industry. Our experience with Abbey Catering was incredible! We live out-of-state but wanted to have our wedding in Encinitas. We were recommended Abbey by a family friend after realizing that trying to work with a bunch of separate vendors ourselves from a different location would be extremely challenging. Having Chuck and the Abbey team working with us made the planning process much less stressful. They worked with us the whole way to make sure our wedding was everything we wanted and more, and were great about engaging with not just us but our family members who lived locally to manage parts of the process. Through the whole planning process and the wedding itself, Chuck’s leadership and coordination efforts kept us confident that the day would go off without a hitch. No one ever tells you just how stressful and complex planning your wedding can be. My Wife and I quickly found this out earlier in the year as we prepared for our special day.

From our first fantastic contact with Will, to locking in our awesome DJ Abel, to Megan and Chuck doing just a stellar job planning and coordinating the entire event A-Z, our Gorgeous wedding day was nothing short of phenomenal.
Not only were we blown away by the clear and helpful communication, but this team absolutely knows what they are doing in their industry and it shows in their kindness, Care and consideration and attention to detail! They even stepped in to save the day when our initial reception venue had complications and we had to relocate. The food was so delicious, the bar was amazing and kept the party going, and the music and event space truly blew any of our expectations out of the water.

The Abbey team (especially Will and Petr) were amazing and I truly don’t believe I would have been able to pull off the wedding I did without them. They took me, an overwhelmed bride planning a cross-country wedding who hates details and planning, and turned our weekend into a flawless event that our friends are still raving about. Will was great walking us through the process and all the contract details and then Petr was the best coordinator I’ve ever experienced (and I have been in many friends weddings). He handled emails to all the vendor, helped me create and execute a vision, and made sure everything ran smoothly. I don't even know where to begin. From the beginning, Troy Sand was extremely responsive and helpful with all my questions regarding catering and how to help narrow down my decision on who to book. The bundle package made it a no brainer, however I felt reassured the whole way. Throughout the planning process, Abbey took care of us. Petr Trebin was assigned as our coordinator, and I cannot say enough how much peace of mind this provided me. He paid attention to every little detail, offered his opinions/recommendations when I felt uncertain, answered questions I didn't even know that I had - and this was just the planning process. On the actual wedding day (I got married at Scripps Seaside Forum), he went above and beyond. And I know many people use this phrase, but I need to say Petr actually did. There were several last minute change ups that he had to navigate (for example, I forgot to let him know we would be doing the Hora since it was a half Jewish wedding. We didn't have the chairs to do this, so he told me he would see what he would do. Well, he found the chairs, he spoke with our DJ (Dax) and we did the Hora and it was perfect.), and my rowdy wedding party did a great job with the ceremony all because of Petr's helpful instruction. He made the entire day and evening run SO smoothly and honestly it was the best day of my life. I recommend every bride to at least strongly consider Abbey Catering for their wedding needs - and do the bundle package! The vendors I worked with were all amazing but I will do separate reviews for them as well. Before I forget, the food was also incredible. All of my guests were raving about how good the food was throughout the weekend, so 10/10 there as well. Service was also perfect, everyone was on point and everyone had a smile! I wish I remembered the names of everyone who worked my wedding, because every single person on staff helped make the day a giant success. Our Dream Wedding Day - Thank you Abbey Catering & Event Design!
We are still on cloud nine after our wedding at the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas, and we owe so much of that joy to Abbey Catering & Event Design. They were simply phenomenal from day one! When we first inquired, Will was great at explaining all of the packages they provide and answering any questions we had. After we signed, we were assigned to Petr Trebin our amazing wedding coordinator!! Petr truly brought our vision to life and we are SO thankful for all of the work he did to make it our dream wedding! Petr made the time leading up to our wedding day and the actual day so seamless! He managed the timeline, coordinated with all of the vendors, and beautifully set up our welcome table and reception tables! He also made sure to have apps and drinks set aside for us after the ceremony to enjoy! He truly thinks of everything and is the best!
The food was absolutely incredible and a major highlight for both us and our guests. We chose the dual entrée of panko-herb crusted chicken and NY striploin, which were both flavorful and beautifully plated. During cocktail hour, guests raved about the tray-passed appetizers and loved our open bar! David the event captain, and their team made it a great experience for our guests.
We had our cake and cupcakes included in the package through Sugar Bear Provisions and our guests were raving about how delicious this was! The florals that were included in the package from Emerald & Ivy were breathtaking from the ceremony arch to the bouquet and reception tables! They were also flexible with us providing our own vases since we had specific vases we wanted to use, which tied perfectly with the gold flatware and charger plates we upgraded to! Our DJ Brian who was included in the package through the wedding entertainment collective was awesome! He kept the energy high, and the music was a perfect blend of our favorite styles and totally reflected our personalities as a couple! We also opted to include photography & videography in our package and both Deb and Tareq were fabulous to work with! We love being able to look back on our video and photos that takes us right back to our day.
Every vendor included in the their all-inclusive package through The Abbey was top-tier, and we are so grateful to the entire team for making our wedding day feel effortless, beautiful, and completely us! The best way to plan a wedding!
Our experience with Abbey was so easy and streamlined, and the final result was INCREDIBLE. The quality of the food was better than I've had at any wedding, and all of our guests agreed. Chuck, our coordinator, was such a pleasure to work with and used his expertise to make things so easy for us. The DJ, photographer, florals, rentals, and cake were all 10/10. The way it worked as a package saved us THOUSANDS of dollars and made planning a breeze. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. I would strongly recommend this company to anyone planning a wedding, if we would have started with Abbey and not with an outside wedding planner, things would have been much easier! We could not be more thrilled with our experience with Abbey, who helped us with our wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum in July. From start to finish, they helped bring our wedding vision to life with care, creativity, and professionalism. Every detail was covered, and we consistenly felt like the team had our best interests at heart.
A standout star was our incredible coordinator, Petr. Petr was calm, clear, and kind, a real guiding light throughout the whole process, especially because we really needed a lot of poking and prodding and encouragement to make decisions along the way! He was always one (or more!) steps ahead and made sure things ran smoothly without ever making us feel rushed or stressed. He handled details big and small with so much grace, and made us feel truly taken care of.
He also was superb at coordinating many parties—rentals, florist, photographer, band, photo booth, venue, etc. During our first dance, my tuxedo button snapped off—Petr told us so casually “no problem, I brought a sewing kit,” and it was fixed in minutes. Incredible.
The food was above our expectation, and our guests had a lot of nice comments! The mushroom arancini apps were an instant hit. Abbey asked us for our feedback during the initial tasting, making sure that things like glazes weren’t too sweet or the seasoning was exactly how we wanted. That level of thoughtfulness makes all the difference.
The main courses were just as wonderful, and the salmon deserves a special shoutout — it was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. Having had some experience working in catering myself, I have to say that I was impressed!
Our cake (cheesecake) from SugarBears great. It had an elegant simplicity that was perfectly gorgeous, and it was perfectly sweet/tangy.
Michele, the florist for Abbey (Emerald & Ivy), was great at capturing our vision for a tropical/beachy feel (palms, Monstera) with whites, yellows, and greens. And special shout out to Chris Wood, our photographer, who over-delivered in photos for us and brought skill, expertise, and a sense of calm to our wedding. Many guests specifically commented on his calm but polite and firm direction.
Abbey Catering & Events truely helped make our wedding day unforgettable. Their passion and professionalism shines through in everything they do, and we’re just so grateful we chose them. We just wish we could re-live it again!

I can't express how impressed I and my wife were with Abbey Catering (Petr, specifically). We actually had two wedding planners, one with Abbey and one without, and the Abbey planner accomplished in TWO HOURS what the other planner was unable to accomplish in FOUR MONTHS. Petr, our Abbey planner, just had a giant checklist and we went through everything, and then it was all set! I'm over-simplifying a bit - Petr also provided all the customization we could ask for and was more than willing to accommodate to our indidualized needs - but I can't stress how easy-going, professsional, efficient, understanding, and organized he was. This is a guy at the top of his game, truly an expert in his field.
My wife and I walked into this completely unaware of what to expect and how to create a wedding. We got a little mixed up getting another planner in addition to Abbey involved, but Petr from Abbey sorted the whole thing out and set us straight. We definitely should have gone with just Abbey from the start! (It was all okay in the end - Petr gracefully recovered where the other planner failed).

We held our 230th Navy Supply Corps Ball in March and Abbey Catering was our caterer for the event. They provided great service and everyone loved their high level of customer service at the Ball!
I have to specifically shout out Will Konecki, he was the event specialist assigned to our event. This was my first time planning an event, and he was professional and helpful throughout the process! Without him, I would not have been able to pull off planning the event. I appreciate that he even took the time out of his busy schedule to come by our Ball!

The Best Team!
The Abbey Catering & Event team was an absolute pleasure to work with and I couldn't recommend them more! Troy, Megan and Chuck were always very timely with their responses and were extremely easy to work with throughout the planning process.
I feel so extremely lucky to have had Chuck Ferrante as our coordinator - he was the easiest person to work with in the months leading up to the wedding. I never felt pressure from Chuck to add any unnecessary features or costs to our day and he was so helpful with suggestions, tips & tricks to make sure our day was seamless and beautiful. Our wedding day was perfect and I trusted Chuck 100% to make my vision come to life - he is calming, organized, professional and a just a true pleasure to be around!! Can't say enough good things about Chuck!
Now for the food - delicious! I never have high expectations for wedding food but we are still getting compliments on our appetizers and dinner selections from our guests. The staff was extremely attentive the entire night and there was not one complaint from our guests, only compliments!
I was in a wedding a few weeks after mine and the coordinator for this wedding was considered a "luxury wedding planner". Choosing Abbey for the catering and coordination of our wedding was a great experience, and it’s hard to imagine things could have gone any better. Chuck, our coordinator, was friendly, knowledgeable, concise, and very VERY on the ball. He must have walked fifteen miles around our venue the day of the wedding making sure everything was on point, I mean everything. We had a bit of a tight restriction on the hours our venue was available, and the precision and dedication required to pull of the wedding in the available time frame was truly impressive. Especially considering the Abbey had never worked at that venue before.
Abbey put us in touch with our florist (Mishele www.emeralandivoryfloral.com), photographer (Chris Wood, www.sdphotostudio.com), and DJ (Tommy Maveric, www.theweddingentertainmentcollective.com) all of whom were charming, talented, and easy to work with. All the vendors, when we first made contact, said something to the effect of “If you’re working with Chuck, everything is going to be great.” All of this to say, Abbey has cultivated talent within their organization and fostered a network of creative vendors who enjoy working together. They made accomplishing our vision look easy!
I could go on and on, the food was incredible (miniature beef wellingtons, I must have had fifteen of them), the process of designing the wedding was very straightforward. We had fun the entire time, I don’t think I’ve ever been treated so well for a single day. We couldn’t be more pleased with our decision to work with Abbey, and I’d recommend them to anybody.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Abbey catering! We used their full package service for a blank canvas venue and we had the wedding of our dreams. Abbey provided us with everything we fantastic needed for the event, including a list of suggested vendors which was hugely helpful for planning.
The food in particular was exceptional; all our guests were raving about both the appetizers and the dinner. Their rentals are beautiful. Will Konecki worked so hard behind the scenes to ensure everything went smoothly, dinner was on time, and all guests were accommodated with special meal requests.
Petr, our event coordinator, was an absolute JOY to work with. He is so organized, has so much patience, and always treated every question and conversation about our wedding with enthusiasm and kindness. Petr really took care of us and all our guests and went above and beyond. He took pictures of us throughout the ceremony which were amazing, so we had photos the very next day to send to family! He was the one that set up our tables exactly as we requested, he always checked in with us to ensure everything was perfect, and he is simply a ray of sunshine in general. The kind of person who feels like family when it is all said and done. It is a night I would like to relive many times over! We recently got married and hired Abbey Catering for our San Diego destination wedding. We first worked with Troy who helped us when we first inquired and through the booking process. Troy was extremely responsive and helpful in answering all of our questions.
We had our menu tasting four months prior to our wedding day and for our tasting we worked with Chuck. Chuck was easy to converse with and his genuine excitement to help us with our menu selections was so nice. A few weeks before our wedding day we found out that Chuck was assigned as our wedding day Event Captain and we were thrilled! He was extremely proactive to finalize details and responsive to any last minute and additional questions or inquiries we had.
We received so many compliments on the food and service provided by Abbey on our wedding day! Along with the food being amazing, Chuck was consistently checking on us to see if we needed anything. He was a gem and put together an appetizer platter for us to ensure we got appetizers, and asked us when the best time for our dinner plates to be brought out, trying to align when we'd be at our table after making our rounds visiting family and friends at their tables.

Stress Free Planning
From the moment we requested a quote from the Abbey for full package catering services we have enjoyed a wonderful experience. Communication was effortless with both Will Konecki and Federico Tomas. They both took time to answer countless questions during my initial planning phase beginning about a year prior to our wedding date.
In addition to thorough and prompt communication, Federico set up a private tasting for my husband and I, and was a joy to be around. He was easy to talk to, gave honest advice, and was extremely knowledgable on working with us to set a timeline. This was especially important for us due to living out of state and being unable to attend the a group tasting night. Federico also met with us via Zoom and patiently addressed any questions we had.
Fast forward to wedding month! I was originally introduced to Chuck Ferrante via email. Even through text, he came across warm, friendly, and professional. This was even more apparent when we met in person for the walk through of the venue layout. He was extremely efficient and worked with our wedding vendor (Martin Johnson House) to ensure our needs were met and our big day would run smoothly. He gathered necessary information from us and promptly initiated communication with all our vendors with a completed layout and timeline. He included ,me on every update that came up and ensured constant communication with all vendors. He also had an obvious rapport built with his fellow Abbey staff as well as all vendors we used.
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. This is in huge part thanks to Chuck, but also all our vendors who contracted through the Abbey. These included DJ Mike Martinez, Deb Shields, Timecode Media (Tareq and Makaela), Emerald and Ivy, and Sugar Bear Provisions. Chuck made sure the entire day ran smoothly, despite the bride and bridal party running behind, and ensured everyone knew what to do and when. He also made sure my husband and I had food and drink throughout the day. He put everyone at ease and truly felt like a good friend we’d known for years.
The service provided by the servers and bartenders was exceptional. Several servers saw to it that my husband and I had access to appetizers during cocktail hour even though we were taking family photos. The drinks were strong, elevated, and made quickly. I don’t recall ever seeing a line form at the bar.
Lastly, the food provided by the Abbey was exquisite. I got lots of feedback about this from guests. The main chef made sure to meet all our guests’ dietary needs while maintaining a high quality of dishes. Our main dish which included short ribs and breaded chicken was extremely flavorful and served hot and fresh.

March 2024 Once in Lifetime Wedding Experience
I so thoroughly enjoyed mine and my wife's experience with Cuvier Club, it went better than I could of planned it myself. All my guests say it was a one-of-kind night they'll never forget. Delicious Food and Great Service
Our venue (the Junipero Serra Museum) provided us with a preferred list of vendors and when we had our first introductory call with the Abbey Catering, we knew they were the one. Robert took the time to chat with us and help us navigate the world of wedding planning in San Diego. Even prior to booking them, he spent time chatting with us and genuinely gave us ideas and support to go on our way with our vendor search and decision making.
The Abbey was responsible for the catering and bar service at our event. A few months prior to our event, we were assigned our event captain Petr Trebin! HE IS FABULOUS! We loved his enthusiasm, attention to detail and style and focus on ensuring that everyone was well taken care of!
Our event was seamless and everything went incredibly smooth. Upon entering our reception, the Martini Tree brought the wow factor! The hanging drinks caught the eye of our guests and warmly welcomed them into the reception. Many of our guests raved over the food and went out of their way to stress how delicious everything tasted. We chose a handful of delicious tray passed appetizers including the bacon wrapped figs, cream cheese wontons and soyrizo quesadillas and for dinner, chose the Abbey Signature Salad (mixed greens with walnuts) and Dual Entree plate with short rib, panko crusted chicken, truffle mashed potatoes and vegetables.
Through out our event, Petr was a ninja- behind the scenes ensuring that everything was going as planned. He worked hand in hand with our coordinator and ensured we were well fed and that we had food readily at our disposal (SO IMPORTANT on your wedding day). He plated us all of our apps in a beautiful display. We actually felt full from how much we ate, which we hear is so rare from couples on their wedding day and were grateful for how attentive Petr was.
In addition, our guests shared that the bartenders were rockstars! The drinks were pouring and it made for an epic dance party on the dance floor.
The Abbey came highly recommended by our venue coordinator and we understand why. We had a great experience with them and are glad they were a part of our big day!Abbey Catering & Event Design Co's reply:

My husband and I were almost suspicious of Abbey's high rating. But after hiring them to do our catering and event planning, we totally get it. Chuck was our wedding coordinator. He was so great. Relaxed, organized, on top of it, and fun to hang out with. One of our groomsman said they would trust Chuck with their life. We really believe their coordinating services saved us money, and we loved all the vendors. It was very calming to know that all our vendors had worked together before, and they knew exactly what was up. Petr Trebin — our assigned coordinator just blew us away. Two weeks prior to the wedding as tensions and stress were building, we met with Petr, who covered and organized every single item you could imagine, lifted a massive burden off of our shoulders and gave us so much peace.

We were skeptical after reading all the rave reviews for Abbey Catering and Event Design. How can they possibly earn straight 5s, consistently over the years? After hosting a wedding for our daughter, we see that the awards and rave reviews are well deserved. Many of our guests noted that it was the most enjoyable wedding they had ever attended. The professionals and vendors in the All-inclusive Abbey Package care about working together as a team to create an amazing event. Senior consultant Petr Trebin was assigned as our planner and coordinator and he was clearly the star of the Abbey experience. He managed all the moving parts with great skill and calm. He is experienced and knowledgeable. His artistic background helped our daughter choose the final design elements for the event and his management expertise helped with all the details of coordinating with the venue and vendors. He was also available to kindly answer our many questions and concerns in the days leading up to the wedding date. For rehearsal of the ceremony the day before the event, he skillfully and patiently taught our large group of twenty, including children, what to do. During the actual event, he energetically managed everything. His confidence and serene demeanor helped us relax as he handled the many details.
The reception food and service were also top-notch. The couple chose several tray-passed hors d'oeuvres served during the cocktail hour. They were delicious works of art on a plate. The cocktails were also noted as being especially well-crafted and served by skilled and friendly bartenders. The bride and groom even created his and her signature drinks to feature for the guests from the silver bar plan. The salad and duo entrees chosen to be served by the couple for dinner were all impressive. Many guests shared compliments. Wedding food sometimes tends to be dull, being served in a large group, but Abbey is an exception. The Abbey chefs presented creative menus and tasty dishes for all, including our vegan guests and even special meals for the children.
We also appreciated that the All-inclusive Abbey Package offered such great value for the price. We were surprised how much we could include in our wedding budget in comparison to the others we researched. Unlike other companies, they do not charge hidden costs that pop up later. The cake cutting, the corkage fees, and coffee service, etc. were all included. We are more than pleased with our choice of Abbey Event Designs and Catering to host our daughter's wedding event. We are happy we did the research and discovered the best!

The Abbey was amazing from the very beginning. The tasting was extremely relaxing and professional and elegant. We were able to pick from a range of different appetizers and they worked with us on every little thing, from linens to china to lighting to timing. Jessica was our event captain and made it to my venue walk-thru and provided so much insight and care. She worked with my wedding coordinator and made everything so easy! On the day of, Jessica made us feel like celebrities and our guests were all raving about the bartending and service and food being phenomenal. We hired the Abbey Catering for our wedding and I’m beyond pleased with what we got. We loved the all inclusive package as we live out of town and it made the planning much easier! Through the package you pick certain options and vendors that work with the company and for the most part, I was highly pleased. Chuck ended up being our wedding coordinator (a huge plus in the package) and he was awesome. He answered all my countless and often repetitive questions (I was in nursing school and had a hard time keeping things straight) and really went above and beyond to make our day amazing (he worked with us on package options and even fulfilled a verbal promise made by a former employee). He really did bring my vision to fruition and I’d even say, surpassed it. -

Had my wedding at the Cuvier club June 15, 2019. I used the abbey catering company for majority of my wedding planning. I started with the 7 option package, but then ended up only using 6. They have a lot of great options to choose from but I was just a little to bridzilla 😬😂 Federico was our wedding coordinator and he was nothing shy of AMAZING ! He worked with all the vendors and really made sure my day was perfect. Other vendors that were amazing !! La Jolla florist - Dorthy was the sweetest
Yummy cupcakes -Renato (so delicious)
Supreme Dj- Alex (everyone was dancing)
Concept designs- charger plates and elegant table clothes make a huge difference
Mission hills home- was a nice property but a little further than I wanted to stay. But definitely do recommend the Scripps in if your wedding is in La Jolla!
I chose to use an outside photographer and videographer so I do not have input for those options.
Oh and the food was a hit! We did the short rib and chicken picatta.
Bottom line is you cannot go wrong with this company.

BOOK! THE! ABBEY!
Our wedding was everything we had imagined and more because of The Abbey Catering & Event Design!!! When we started to plan our wedding, I stumbled upon their yelp reviews and it seemed too good to be true. But The Abbey truly is your “fairy godmother” and makes your dream wedding a reality. Everyone on their team who worked with us (Petr, Chuck, Kaycee, Megan L., Megan B, the bartender, tasting staff, and catering staff) goes above and beyond to make you feel like you are the only wedding they are planning. They make it look effortless even though planning a wedding with that many moving pieces, vendors, and changes is a huge undertaking. They respond quickly and make it their mission to exceed your expectations. They answered all our questions and listened to all of our ideas along the way. They were accommodating and happy to make changes and additions. Not only is their food presentation beautiful, but it’s absolutely delicious. We left our tasting wishing we could have selected every item! Our guests were complimenting us all night long on how beautiful the tables looked and how incredible the food was. From the tasting, to the table settings, to the food, to the staff, everything was absolutely PERFECT!
You’ll also be assigned a day of coordinator. We were assigned Petr and he is BEYOND incredible!!! There are not enough words to describe just how amazing he is. His attention to detail, his meticulous organization, his work ethic, and fantastic personality will leave you wishing he could be your day of coordinator for every event in your life. He made sure that everything ran smoothly before, during, and after the wedding. I even brought in some outside items (seating chart, table numbers, rose petals, and flower girl baskets) which Petr was happy to set up for me before the wedding started. He is determined to make sure your wedding is the BEST day of your life. Petr also makes sure the bride and groom are taken care of throughout the night with food and drinks!
We bought the all-inclusive package which included 5 vendors that they’ve worked with for years. I highly recommend each of the vendors below because they were all amazing! You can check their business pages for my individualized reviews!

Abbey Catering Co. did such a wonderful job on our food for the reception. The appetizers were fresh and constantly being passed around during cocktail hour. When we were seated, a salad was waiting at our seat and then shortly after we receive ed our dual plated meal. For appetizers we had the Coconut Shrimp, Boardwalk Crab Cake, Spicy Soyrizo-Chevre Quesadilla, and Cream Cheese Wonton. For dinner we had Chili-Garlic rubbed Tri-Tip, Black Peppercorn Demi and the Panko-Herb Crusted Chicken Breast with gorgonzola cream sauce, veggies, and truffle mashed potatoes (sooooo delicious!) Also, our bartender for the wedding was SO GREAT! -
Christina Sent on 08/11/2018Abbey Catering & Event Design Co were amazing. My husband and I are so happy we made the right choice to have our wedding here last month. After checking out several other venues, the Abbey seemed like they offered the most complete package at a reasonable price. We can not say enough about Chuck Ferrante, our wedding coordinator. From start to finish he helped piece together the wedding of our dreams. Chuck was very organized, friendly, patient and a great communicator. We received so many complements from our guests on the food and service. My husband is very frugal and struggled with the idea of tipping from the start, but after our beautiful day he gladly tipped above the average. Which is saying a lot for him lol.

Diana Sent on 10/03/2017We had such a wonderful experience working with Abbey Catering for our wedding! We are so happy we decided to go with the all-inclusive package.... all of the preferred vendors we selected were amazing (photographer, DJ, florist, bakery) and everything came together so seamlessly with the help of the Abbey Catering team. We had Chuck as our wedding coordinator and he was amazing! He was on top of every detail, and he made us feel relaxed and confident that all of the details were taken care of the day of the wedding. He listened to all of our wishes, and was so kind to all of our friends and family. Throughout the planning process, we worked closely with Julie, Petr, Megan, and several other members of the Abbey team- everyone we worked with was responsive, friendly, and made it a wonderful experience. We had our reception at the Cuvier Club which was a beautiful venue. We definitely highly recommend the Abbey Catering team!!
