Working with Chanda Daniels and her team at A Monique Affair was the best decision I could have made for my wedding.
I had my dream wedding at UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens, and SO many of our guests have been raving about how this was the most beautiful wedding that they have ever attended.
My husband and I wanted to be very involved in the planning process and we chose the Wedding Day Direction package, which worked out really well.
Chanda was like our Fairy Godmother, providing so much wisdom and guidance for us as we navigated planning a wedding. She was so patient with us and has a really beautiful energy as a human being. Her team was incredible as well on the day of the event, Zeraka and all of the ladies were so kind and encouraging. I felt very supported.
Wedding planning is can feel overwhelming, but choosing to work with Chanda was the smartest decision I made for this big day.
We are deeply grateful and highly recommend A Monique Affair to plan anyone’s wedding! (Especially if you’re an anxious person like me haha)
This was the best day of our lives. Thank you for an unforgettable celebration!

We LOVED working with Chanda, Alejandra, and Syrhonda! The entire AMA team is kind, professional and create beautiful weddings. We heard from many of our guests that they were impressed with how smoothly the wedding day went. Throughout our planning process, we were able to see how respected team AMA is in the wedding industry. We received a list of preferred vendors from team AMA. Everyone we interacted with, from the DJ to potential caterers, all had such great things to say about team AMA. It made us feel really happy about our decision to work with them. -

We had the best experience working with A Monique Affair to plan our dream wedding. Chanda kept us on track with our wedding vision and our budget and she was an absolute joy to work with. On the day of our wedding, her entire team was extremely polished and professional and the whole day went so smoothly. Even my bridesmaids were impressed by the direction they got from the AMA team and one said that our wedding was the first one she's been in where she actually knew where to be and what to do. We requested some challenging layouts and turnaround times between the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing, and AMA executed everything flawlessly. She also recommended excellent vendors, from cake to bands to photography! 10/10, would recommend A Monique Affair to everyone. -

Working with A Monique Affair was an absolute JOY. From our first discovery call through to our wedding day, the process - what to expect, when to get to work, when to relax and who was responsible for what was made so explicitly clear - we felt eternally well represented and supported. Chanda and her team worked with us to put together a package that was right for our unique situation and went above and beyond to make our dreams come true. They are so incredibly experienced and knowledgeable and were instrumental in helping us navigate what ultimately was most important to us - family, friends, a weekend long event we could settle into, and a design aesthetic that was beautiful, vibrant, and laidback. We were working with a tight budget, but had a real vision for all the details and they would fit together. AMA and Chanda helped us deliver in every aspect including managing the day so effortlessly that we were able to really live in the moment and enjoy everything we had put together. On top of Chanda's taste and professionalism, she is warm, funny, down-to-earth and a joy to be around. As a queer female couple, she always made the tradition of a wedding feel accessible and inclusive to us and we were never left apologizing for not fitting into a standard mold. We warmly refer to her as our Queery-Godmother and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. We cannot recommend A Monique Affair enough!! -

Leticia Sent on 06/20/2022Whoa! Wedding experience was waaaay better than we could have imagined
First, huge thanks to Chanda and team for helping us every step of the way to create a beautiful wedding. Part of me feels like a guest in awe of a beautiful wedding, the other part feel like the queen and king of a major event. Because of their attentiveness and organization, we both were able to be fully present the whole weekend really. I don’t know how A MONQUIE AFFAiR put it all together, we gave three photos for inspiration and vague words like ”dreamy” “vibes” “joy”. I have to breakdown our experience:
Planning- we met monthly but Chanda and team always made themselves available between meetings or clarification and reminders. Chanda and the team are genuinely sweet people who care. I would not have known she was actively working with other couples. They made us feel heard and special. They have a system that helps with reminders, communication, and seating and all that. They set-up all the meetings to meet with vendors and creatives. We were never pushed and always provided options on who to select. All of our vendors were amazing!
Wedding Day- OMG, I’ve never had concierge /assistant support. We both had a dedicated assistant. They helped in ways that I didn’t imaged needing help. Our families can get overwhelmed pretty easily, it was so nice having someone right there helping us along the way. I was hungry Syrhonda brought me a breakfast sandwich and coffee, my feet were hurting she was right there my my flats, I needed to communicate something to my dad- she sent the message, when I got nervous- she played soothing music . I didn’t touch my phone the whole wedding. I am so grateful! The week leading up to the wedding I was so relaxed, I felt like I should be stressed, but everything was handled.
In review, our wedding was a cry fest…so much love …so much drama-free joy…all the parts in place..and thanks to A MONIQUE AFFAIR ! We were blessed to celebrate our union in a way that felt authentic and heartfelt not only for us but our guests.

I still remember when called Chanda crying, burnt out, and feeling overwhelmed. My venue in Big Sur required a day of wedding coordinator - and EVERYONE I called for weeks in Monterey County was booked. Now, I am not a well known person or a celebrity - but I desperately needed help to feel supported, guided and represented. Once I spoke with Chanda, I felt taken care of, heard and most importantly, seen. Syrhonda, our coordinator, was utterly phenomenal. Each logistics meeting, design meeting and vender referral made me feel calmer, trust them more and feel that they understood my vision. EVERYONE, including Kristy, my personal day of support woman and our additional location coordinator made my wedding day absolutely exceptional. Because of A Monique Affair, I truly had the wedding ceremony of my dreams in Big Sur, California. Mere words cannot express how much gratitude I have for this company. I will forever be grateful for the process that brought me to them. Simply put, thank you. -

Top Notch Planning and Execution
Chanda and her team were amazing. Chanda helped my daughter and her bride-to-be all through the planning and design process, and was always enthusiastic, informative, and helpful. She didn't blink when informed that the ladies wanted a "chic geek" wedding--and went on to help them bring that vision to life. The wedding was full of personal elements that reflected the "Kingdom Hearts" theme, but never strayed from being tasteful and elegant. My 94-year-old aunt thought it was the most beautiful wedding she had ever been to.
Chanda helped us find many of the important vendors--flowers, invitations (and signage), DJ, pie (no cake for these brides), and more. Our monthly zoom meetings and regular emails kept everyone on track (no easy feat with my ADHD daughter), and the team on the day of the wedding was amazing--no detail was overlooked, no issue (there weren't many) wasn't resolved smoothly and immediately.
I found "A Monique Affair" via the internet, and I am so glad I did!
When my daughter and her bride made that first call, the connection was immediate, and lasted throughout our time together. The fee was well worth the peace of mind Chanda and her team gave us--we could just enjoy the wedding, and we did! -

They made our day joyful and worry-free!
Our daughter selected A Monique Affair because Chanda is experienced and our daughter and son-in-law felt great chemistry with her from the beginning. Syrhonda was our wedding day director and was amazing from beginning to end! Our daughter and son-in-law chose all the venues and vendors, we contracted them together, and A Monique Affair had a system for us to upload all the contracts. My husband and I don’t live in CA, so it was so convenient to able to look at all the contracts on our phones and not drag my huge wedding binder with me when we were in town. Syrhonda reached out to all of our vendors and made sure she knew who the contacts were in preparation and on the wedding day. She dealt with my MOB nerves and concerns and gave us complete confidence that she had a handle on everything and would be able to tackle anything that came their way. When I was anxious, she was calm and joyful. The ceremony was at the UC Botanical Garden and the reception was at the UC Faculty Club. Syrhonda was particularly helpful because she works on the UC campus and has detailed knowledge of parking requests and university requirements. A Monique Affair has done many weddings at the garden, so they have a great working relationship with them. Syrhonda orchestrated our rehearsal beautifully. She even had contacts at the Graduate Hotel, and they made us feel so welcome, accommodated and celebrated!
A Monique Affair has another system online that helped our daughter track RSVPs, drag and drop guests into table assignments, and a checklist to keep us on track and make sure we weren’t forgetting anything. This system had a timeline for the rehearsal and wedding day. It was so convenient for us to check it on our phones / computers for reference and then communicate to the bridal party, family and friends what was happening and when.
On the wedding day, A Monique Affair had event techs at our two hotels and both event venues, and Syrhonda was supervising everything. We had Kimi with us all morning as we got ready. She was fun and ready to help whenever we needed her. There were unforeseeable issues, as there will be, that came up - timing of food delivery while I was getting my hair done, one lost bus driver, a last-minute parking request, and even scissors to cut off tags at the ceremony. I never had to worry because the team handled it all with grace. They had smart watches and phones to communicate with each other all day. They were never flustered and I could be present and completely enjoy the day. Bailey was at the Faculty Club all day from event setup to cleanup. They made sure we knew where and with whom everything was going after it was all over.
I don’t know how we could’ve done it without the whole team. They were extremely professional, genuinely nice and really fun to be with. Thank you for making our day special and so memorable in all the good ways!

A Monique Affair created a timeless and elegant wedding that our guests still are raving about!
A Monique Affair is a life saver! I am someone who is always prone to stress and planning a wedding was an overwhelming experience. We were so happy and grateful to have discovered A Monique Affair; a company that prides itself on creating impeccable, timeless weddings. Chanda took the time to understand our personality and vision for the wedding. She wanted to know everything about us from our favorite song to the type of personality our parents had. This extra step of truly getting to know us made the wedding planning experience very enjoyable. We really didn’t want the overall experience to end, but Chanda is such a warm and caring spirit that we have continued to be friends with her even after the wedding!
The wedding day was flawless! Chanda is probably the most punctual person we have ever worked with and it showed the day of the wedding. All the vendors were on time and knew exactly where they needed to be. The day ran so smoothly. Four months later, our friends and family are still saying that it was THE BEST WEDDING they have ever attended! Chanda surpassed our expectations and we are thankful that she was a part of our milestone. -

Brenda Sent on 10/27/2013When I first set out to plan my wedding, I was really stressed out because my budget was so limited. It was important to me to have a very nice and tasteful wedding, but I worried that with the amount of money I had to make my wedding happen, that it would fall flat. I wasn't even sure that I could afford coordination services, but decided to consult with one anyway. I found A Monique Affair and when we met, I expressed what my worries were, what budget I was working with and ultimately what I wanted my wedding to be like.
I was really impressed with the service because instead of feeling pressured, I felt very taken care of, Chanda is a great planner who knows how to maximize what your budget allows. While I didn't end up with all the details I originally envisioned, the team was really good about working with me to edit things out and what I ended up with was a tasteful, elegant and meaningful wedding. All I can say is Thank You A Monique Affair for giving me and my family the wedding of a lifetime. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! -

Dee Sent on 10/23/2013My wedding day was an absolute dream thanks to the team at A Monique Affair. Talk about providing the extra personal touch, I always felt like my ideas, thoughts and excitement were always supported by the team and the owner herself, Chanda is nice and very charming.
On the day of my wedding, I nearly didn't have anything to worry about. When the caterers didn't arrive right on the dot, Chanda took charge and made the phone calls necessary to make sure everything was on it's way, and that really helped calm my nerves.
In the end, everything ran smoothly especially the transition from the ceremony to the reception. The team was on hand to corral the guests to the cocktail hour area so they could set up for the reception which was in the same patio that we exchanged our vows. They pulled it off, but the best part is hearing all my guests tell me to this day, what a great time they had. -

Jamie Sent on 11/14/2013I found A Monique Affair (Chanda) through weddingwire.com. I am originally from the Bay Area but live on the east coast now. I did not need a planner for the entire wedding but what was most important to us was the day of. We did not want to deal with pantyhose getting a run in them or I can't find my bow tie! We just wanted to enjoy our day. A Monique Affair offers "The Day of Services". Initially my conversations and planning meetings over the phone were with Chanda. As my wedding got closer I began to work with her entire team. They were great! They took care of all my vendor business that I had set up, sent out my time line to everyone that needed it. And put a plan in place for the day to run smoothly and to help carryout the vision that we had for our day. The day of my wedding I was given an attendant named Sarah. I did not know what I was going to do with this girl because I thought i had everything pretty much under control. But I was wrong ! :) Sarah went back and forth between my husband and I rooms taking care of little details. She stayed with me while we took pictures , coordinated with another team member that was downstairs helping with the transportation for the guest, wedding party and myself. Sarah stayed with me until it was time to go to the church and I can honestly say I think I would have been a bridezilla if I didn't have her. Chanda and the rest of the team were waiting for us at the church and everything was perfection. The decor was just perfect and everything was just as we wanted. Our reception was great as well. The venue was perfectly decorated just as we had described to them and they handled everything from setting up the venue, switching guest at tables to cleaning and boxing everything back up for the vendors. In a few words they were professional and on point with everything. We were truly luck to find A Monique Affair (Chanda) and her team! -

One of the major reasons we wanted to work with AMA was because of Chanda’s vision for diversity and inclusion in the wedding industry. It was important for us to incorporate creatives of color and diversity in our wedding selections, and Chanda kept us on track with our goals. If this is something you value, you will find aligned vision and interest in AMA.
We can’t thank Chanda enough for her willingness to flex with us through three dates and two venues over the course of two years. This required going from partial planning to full planning and essentially building a new vision and plan for our wedding. While several of the creatives from our original wedding plans remained in place, we had to explore and secure new creatives (after our original venue cancelled our reception) and incorporate each creative into a new plan for the day.
Our wedding day was magical - beyond 5+ stars. All of the stars aligned and the AMA team made sure that every detail was covered and ready for our special day. We love how Syrhonda managed the timeline down to the tee and notified us when things were behind or on track with options for how to achieve our vision for the remainder of the day. The day of setup was seriously on point and flawless. The team worked with all of the elements made available and ensured that the venue was sparkling with our personality and love. Chanda’s ability to pull together family and friends and drive coordination from the first look to the aisle walks was incredible. Each person understood their role and was ready to go. When anything even hinted at being off plan, Chanda worked to fix it without worrying us. Our wedding day was a dream come true and very much so worth the covid challenges, heartache, and wait.
We were treated with the utmost respect and care throughout our planning. As we planned for our 2021 day after postponing from 2020, Chanda constantly looked for ways we could innovate around safety, from testing options, to communications and protocol. We believe, it is because of the rigor and seriousness put into our plans, that our guests felt comfortable attending the wedding and not one person got sick. No matter what scenario we faced, Chanda handled it with grace, care, and respect.
Our recommendation for working with AMA (or any planner) is to set clear expectations up front for the package you are selecting, what it includes, and the roles and responsibilities between the planner and couple. Establishing the framework upfront and understanding the planning phases will lead to a steady process, but please know that no matter how far in advance you plan, flexibility is key and Chanda will help you navigate the wedding planning journey.
