We met as freshman at Union and it meant so much to us to get married in Memorial Chapel. The building is beautiful, impeccably maintained, and our photos from the day are just gorgeous as a result. The staff at Union in Facilities and the Office of Special Events were fantastic to work with throughout the planning process and on the day of the wedding. They provided tech and set-up support at the rehearsal and on the wedding day everything ran smoothly and functioned without issue. We were married in December and it snowed significantly the morning of our wedding. The Facilities and grounds keepers take such fantastic care of campus sidewalks and roads. Everything was cleared and salted for our guests upon arrival, and the heart of campus looked incredible in the snow. The chapel is certainly not inexpensive to rent. However, I assume some of the cost goes to supporting the upkeep of a historic building. The architecture is so stunning that we were able to save money by minimizing other ceremony decor. Ultimately, we decided the cost was worth it to be married in such a meaningful and beautiful location. We'd make the same decision again in a heartbeat.

I am an alumnus of Union College and was thrilled when my bride and I selected this as our ceremony location. The building was magnificent and looked wonderful in pictures.

The fee for rental of the building, especially for an alumnus, was preposterous. We did it anyway because it was perfect and we were used to getting inflated prices, but I have to admit that it was especially disconcerting that we were nickel-and-dimed for "add on" charges including a sound system and person working it, as well as additional insurance for the venue, etc.

A building that I was told when I first arrived as a student was "free" for alumni to get married in was quoted to us at $900 and ended up costing closer to $1500 after all of the add-ons.

The school now charges well over $50,000/yr for tuition, room, and board to its current students. They nickel-and-dimed me as a student and continue to do so as an alumnus. I will not be donating to my alma mater for many years to come as a result of the shabby treatment. It is shameful how poorly we were treated.

I would only recommend this venue to a friend who knew what they were getting into cost/service wise, but I can't knock the beautiful building and setting. Our pictures came out fantastic.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
