This hotel is awesome. We got married here and the service was impeccable. There was never a question. Jodi was clear and easy to communicate with. She was dependable and gets the job done. She and the rest of the hotel staff went above and beyond for us. The kitchen staff did a great job with our menu and accommodating with our special dietary and liquor requests. The grounds are beautiful and beach was amazing. Jodi recommended all of the local vendors we used and they were all a dream to work with also. We can not thank her, The Blockade Runner, and staff enough for making our weekend truly special.

Awesome spot for a wedding! The property of this place is breathtaking! With only Oceanfront and Harbor view rooms you can not go wrong. We had our entire wedding reception and ceremony there in one spot and a 15 guest room block. The have a beautiful lawn overlooking the Ocean for a ceremony and the bridal suite is amazing. It gives off a south beach vibe.

Blockade Runner was a great choice for us as a couple who live in Wilmington, with practically all out-of-town guests. We were grateful for a venue that offered us a simple backup plan in case of rain as well.

The day-of coordinator worked closely with us to make sure our plan was executed. She checked in with the vendors on her own to make sure everyone was comfortable and prepared. We were able to visit twice to talk to her in person. There is a lot of staff turnover, so Renee took over partway between our initial deposit and the wedding itself.

The Blockade Runner was flexible on our selections for the Social menu. Food is definitely pricey, but it was high quality and our guests seemed to enjoy it as well. Bonus points for bringing the bride and groom a tray of hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour. The reception was well-staffed for our 70 guests, including the bar. We appreciated the flexibility to switch one of the alcohol selections as well.

Room reservations were one part that did not go smoothly. Our guests had difficulty being identified with our room block, and later were told no rooms were available in the block. We were never notified that the block was full until well after these goings-on. Guests interpreted no rooms left in the block as no rooms at the hotel and stayed elsewhere. A little communication directly with the bride and groom when the block was nearly full might have helped alleviate the stress and even brought the Blockade Runner a few more guests.

The rooms themselves were lovely. The bride had no trouble getting ready in their room with a few people hanging out, and the ocean views are stunning. Staff was very patient when 40+ wedding attendees crashed into the morning brunch hour at once.

Overall, the hotel staff did a fantastic job of taking care of details, setup, teardown, and service. They made our wedding planning pretty easy, and we enjoyed the day and the grounds. Pricey, but splendid service.

There is no denying that the Blockade Runner is one of the most pristine locations to have a wedding on Wrightsville Beach, NC. The lawn is a spectacular place to have a ceremony & my guests are still talking about how gorgeous the gardens were for both my ceremony & cocktail hour locations. The reception hall was freshly painted & had the most beautiful new blown glass chandeliers. They had ordered new banquet chairs which were very much a step up from the usual banquet chairs you see at other big hotels. The decor in the lobby was also recently updated so I cannot say enough about how exquisite a place it is to host a wedding! I am truly not one to complain having been in the hospitality business for over 7 years as well as a professional musician who performs at many a wedding however I feel it necessary to mention that sadly, the responsiveness & professionalism was lacking due to things like the food & beverage manager taking a lot of time to initiate or respond to emails regarding menu selections (took her over 2 weeks to get back to us from her original promised menu selection date; we wanted to print personalized choices on our invitation but were not able to select our menu early enough to get invites out to out-of-town guests). Then she also kept my mother & I waiting for over 30 minutes in the lobby when we finally did meet for our menu selection appointment. It was disconcerting but to my knowledge, the food & beverage coordinator we worked with is no longer employed with this establishment. Staff member Ashley however, stepped in on behalf of the food & beverage manager who was unavailable to me the morning of my wedding & took the time to meet with me briefly to ensure my reception tables were set up beautifully. Jenna with the sales department handled all of our room block needs & was most certainly courteous, timely & accommodating on all levels. The cocktail & reception food was absolutely delicious (A++) & so I still highly recommend this venue!

I loved the idea of having my wedding here until after I signed a 20 room contract along with $3500. From then on out it was a nightmare trying to get in touch with the people, things being told differently from 2 different people, and then my family being told there were no rooms available. When things finally gotten straightened out, some people's rooms were messed up, including mine. They did however accommodate for my husband & I with the brides suite. The weather was a hit & miss for my wedding, so we were moved back inside. It didn't rained the whole evening, but I was glad I begged for it to be outside. I think they should rent an arbor for their wedding there, because you have to bring your own & set it up which can be aggravating. Also it's not technically a resort like hotel. They do that accommodate you buy the pool which is something I looked forward to. Ms. Beth did get somethings done for us that needed to be done & did make my wedding day a little less stressful. There were some things I didn't like about the hotel like no smoking on your balcony. I was upset at that. You only had the beach to smoke on & I didn't like to walk down there to smoke. The bell boys are nice & full of information, especially Matt. He knows a lot about the outerbanks! The bartenders are nice by the pool but they aren't used to having a full bar after hours. The prices are very high but the food was amazing & so was the continental breakfast. I did however misplace a few things & the hotel was very fast to get things back to me & to me while I stayed there. Very prim & proper hotel!

The food at Blockade runner was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. Their service during our wedding by the staff and manager was not good. They didn't have the childrens meals we ordered and they didn't have dinner for our vendors, which were all paid for.

We absolutely LOVE performing weddings at the Blockade Runner. It is a beautiful location with the flexibility to have a ceremony in a "tropical paradise-like" setting yet beachfront. Accommodations are beautiful as well! If you need a pastor to perform your wedding, we'd love to hear from you! Blessings!
