Thurman Landing is simply Stunning, and a Perfect venue!

My Wife and I searched around the Louisville area to find an outdoor setting with a barn to host our wedding. The search yielded many options, but when I started putting together all the additional details, as anyone who has attempted to plan a wedding will tell you, the prices just get ridiculous ($3000 for potable bathrooms? Yikes!) When we found Thurman Landing everything was totally different. With what we saw on the internet that is included with this venue, we knew it was a great value. Then we met Renee. She manages the property and has a level of service that is unparalleled by anyone or organization that I have worked with to date. We do not live in Kentucky, but with the communication and support that we received from Renee and her team at Thurman Landing our planning was as easy as if we were down the street. She set us up with some preferred vendors (DJ Jimmy Warren, Bridgette Blair Photography) that have worked with the venue before and all worked together in a seamless symphony that played the beautiful music that was our Literally PERFECT Wedding Day.
The team at Thurman Landing will work to ensure that your vision comes to life. (As a side note, make sure you have a vision! No vendor can execute a plan that does not exist, or that is not clearly communicated in detail.) They do set-up and take-down, they can rent you, or let you use the small and large details that will make your wedding dream come true. They have beautiful outdoor areas, both covered and not, to have your ceremony and/or reception along with the gorgeous event barn. We opted to use both, which worked out great for all of our guests to be comfortable with their own level social distancing. The Event Barn is very large, Climate Controlled, and has Large Clean Restrooms.
We were initially unsure about the requirement to use the onsite catering from Claudia's Tea Room. In the end, this really made life so much easier! We did not have to worry about any of the details providing the caterer the things that are needed, it was all taken care of. Have you ever been to the wedding where you're sure the food would have been good, but it was prepared hours before, sat in van, and then was reheated by/sat on sterno? NOT HERE. Since the food is made on sight, it was hot, fresh, and delicious!! I will never understand how they pulled off feeding so many people at the same time, with such quality, but they did!
Sonora is in a dry county. DO NOT let this scare you. Any booze you want to serve you will have to provide (and Renee can hook you up with a bartender) but in comparison, this saved us sooo much money. We were able to serve exactly what we wanted, and instead of paying inflated prices, we got a discount at Liquor Barn.
Thurman Landing also has several homes that are available to rent as well. My family opted to rent them all to keep as all close together. They are historic properties that only add to the amazing charm of the place. They were all extremely clean and well kept up with all the amenities of home. It made our wedding like a mini family reunion as well as providing for great spaces to prepare for the ceremony and stunning backdrops for our photos.
I could go on and on about the pleasurable experience we had with Thurman Landing, but I will summarize:

If you want a venue that is gorgeous, has lots of options, and has a top-notch staff - look no further than Thurman Landing. We had a long engagement (over a year) and from day one until our wedding day we couldn't have asked for better service. The venue itself has so much to offer - multiple options for a ceremony/reception, beautiful surroundings of trees/nature/lake, multiple homes to use for lodging and getting ready...the list goes on and on. I fell in love the moment I saw it. Then there is the staff. Renee (venue coordinator) is beyond incredible! She made planning a wedding 100x easier and less stressful ... then 2020 came and she made it 500x easier and less stressful. Not only is she super fun to work with but she is very flexible, accommodating, and communicative. She has a true passion for what she does and truly wants the day to be perfect for each and every couple. We loved working with you Renee! Then there is the catering - which is done in house through Claudia's Tea Room - delicious! We had so many guests tell us how great the food was and we couldn't agree more. And the catering staff was fantastic too, very helpful and kind. There aren't enough words to express how truly amazing Thurman Landing is. It was perfect for a day we will never forget! Highly recommend for any event!

What a great weekend at Thurman Landing!!! Rosie and Charlie opened up their venue to us with pure Southern Charm. We all felt so welcome and Renee, Theresa, Nita, Rachel, Shelia, Amber and Rachel made it hard to leave! They all made Colin and Ambers wedding a night to remember!! Thank you all so much for the wonderful memories!!! Can’t forget the fabulous food either. Pretty sure I gained 5 lbs that night!!! Thanks for all you did!!

This place is amazing!! We had our rehearsal dinner, wedding, and reception here. We had a May wedding, and the grounds were so beautifully maintained. The staff are so friendly and amazing, especially Renee. She made sure everything turned out perfect!! The pricing is very reasonable and the food was so good!

We loved everything about this venue! We felt very welcomed and at home. Renee, Rose & Charlie was so helpful and made my daughter’s wedding day perfect! On top, it’s a gorgeous place !! Can’t say enough about this place. They help with every step :)

What an awesome place! We were treated with the utmost respect. Given lots of advice and assisted with everything from area florists, cake vendors, photographers and DJ's ! Customer service was great as well. We were provided with the event planners cell number and she responded quickly to all texts and calls. Very flexible to work with. We had our rehearsal dinner and wedding at this venue and we were very pleased!
