The Windsor Hotel in downtown has a long history in Abilene. Built in 1890 it, of course, has been refurbished and now has an elegant ball room and also serves as an apartment complex for those 55 and older. The hotel is located at 401 Pine St. and is available for weddings, special occasions and bridal photo shoots as well. You get 3 rooms when you rent the Windsor; the ballroom, mezzanine, and brides room. That makes for a great all inclusive location for the wedding and reception....

The Windsor is beautiful BUT if you are getting married in a hot month, look somewhere else. The air conditioner does not accommodate for the 170 people that the room says it holds. The thermostat was set at 71 when we started setting up and with just 20 people in the room, it raised to 74! When we tried to drop the temperature to 68, nothing happened. It just continued to climb. On the day of the wedding, we tried again and by the time all our guests arrived, it was 78 degrees!! We called the facility but nothing got fixed. It was too late. We also tried to get some kind of reimbursement and the corporate office refused.Sent on 06/29/2018
The facility was also not very clean when we got in to set up. The chairs are in disrepair as well as in need of a paint job and a good cleaning. When we set them up, it was distracting how dirty they were. It took a crew to clean them up enough to look presentable.
On the flip side, they were accommodating to allow us to view the facility several times, take pictures and make plans. They also allowed us to store flowers in the fridge a day early. They were responsive to my texts even though the problem wasn’t resolved.
Overall, the place is beautiful and affordable but did not make up for the fact that my guests were hot and left early. Sorry Windsor, I really wanted to give you a good review.
