The Wedding Plate has established itself as the premier vintage china and glassware rental boutique in the Nashville area. With an inventory of 10,000+ pieces of mix-n-match vintage china, glassware, flatware and serveware, The Wedding Plate can bring an element of surprise and sophistication to any event - and not just weddings. Since 2016, these unique pieces have also been featured at baby showers, farm-to-table dinners, high tea parties, business socials and more.
Like any good Southern story, the story of The Wedding Plate begins with a girl and boy. Girl meets boy, they fall in love, and wedding plans are set in motion. Enter the mother of the bride, Lisa Shacklett, who combined her business savvy and creativity to make her daughter’s wedding a day she would never forget. The idea developed to use Shacklett’s impressive collection of vintage china and glassware as a unique accent for the big day. Soon after the nuptials, Shacklett and daughter, Shelby Adkins, collaborated to bring this beautiful experience to the wedding and event market… and so The Wedding Plate was born.
Most recently, a handpicked collection of vintage teacups from The Wedding Plate was featured in the window display of Reese Witherspoon’s flagship boutique Draper James in Nashville. The display was part of the book tour launch of Witherspoon’s New York Times bestseller Whiskey in a Teacup. A varied collection of mid-century modern barware is also making a regular appearance on the Nashville social scene.
Where does the collection come from? For years, Shacklett has been collecting china and goblets by scouring estate sales, antique shops and thrift stores. Pieces come from England, Japan, Germany, France, Bavaria, Poland, and throughout the United States. Celebrated brands in the inventory include Haviland, Homer Laughlin, Spode, Noritake, Lenox, Empress, Fostoria, Culver and many more. They range from simple to elegant, but they all have a story to tell.
The pieces often evoke an emotional response or trigger a memory from customers. “Customers frequently recognize pieces from their childhood home or a grandparents’ collection,” Shacklett said. “Generally, our clients walk into a reception hall, living room, or our showroom, pick up a glass or plate and tell me about a special family member, usually with tears in their eyes. We are all so busy, and it’s more important than ever that we stop to gather around a table, spend time with family and friends and celebrate special occasions. It’s something I’m passionate about and it’s why I love this business.”

We hired The Wedding Plate for our creative conference in Nashville this fall. Our theme was Alice in Wonderland and we knew we needed real china tea cups & serving pieces. Lisa was extraordinary to work with!! She was timely, thoughtful, and extremely kind and professional. She made the process of ordering china, tea cups, and servingware effortless. I can’t thank her enough for all she did! Her collection is truly one of a kind. Her pieces gave our event authenticity and character… which our attendees LOVED! Lisa goes above and beyond her call and her customer service is second to none. I would recommend The Wedding Plate to anyone!Sent on 10/01/2018

Well, it’s quite simple. Rent your plates and all your dining needs from Lisa. The plates were a huge hit just as I expected. Our local Catholic Bishop who is known for his “keen” and “look out of the box eyes” went out of his way to get Lisa’s card I had sitting on the buffet table with the plates. I knew right then and there when I saw him take her card that I had made a good choice using Lisa’s plates and dinner ware.Sent on 12/29/2018

One of our best reception decisions!
Lisa was amazing! I rented dishes, glasses, silverware, and napkins from her. Pickup was very easy, and her instructions for the rental were crystal clear. She also was very patient with me as I had to add to my order (weddings are never as small as you aim for!!!). She was friendly and pickup/dropoff was a breeze. I also loved the fact that no washing was required! :) Her prices were incredibly reasonable and more affordable than similar options we explored. Renting this beautiful dinnerware was a great decision - the guests loved it, it added elegance to our reception, the tables look GREAT in pictures, and best of all - no creating a ton of waste for a landfill! I would recommend Lisa 100%!Sent on 04/25/2019

I can not say enough wonderful things about them. I have worked with them on 2 different occasions and they are professional and wonderful to work with. Their china and set up is just beautiful and spot on. They worked very well with the bride and groom and with our venue. I look forward to working with them again in the future.
