History

The Kellum family was one of the most prominent and wealthy families in the U.S. in the early 1900s. Mrs. Elizabeth Carnegie Kellum was the niece of Pittsburgh steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. Mr. and Mrs. Kellum and their children fell in love with the North Georgia Mountains and purchased over 1,000 acres to establish a working farm with Arabian horses, angora goats and other livestock. In 1928, the school and dormitory on-site burned and became the ruins that continue to be part of the original acreage known as Kellum Valley Farm.

Gorgeous Venue in North Georgia

My daughter visited numerous venues and when she got to The Ruins knew it was where she needed to get married. It is absolutely gorgeous, the owners and staff are kind and accommodating. Our day-of coordinator, Ashtyn, was AMAZING. She kept everyone on schedule, handled details that I never thought about and was so easy to work with. Everything was perfect and is honestly an amazing deal for the price.

My Favorite Day Ever

I got married here on April 16, 2022 and it was the best day of my life. People always say that (and I think it's cheesy) but it truly was, and it was all because of this venue. My now husband and I couldn't thank Deanne, her sweet husband Joel, our wedding director Ashtyn, Pearl (the pupper), and all of the wonderful staff at The Ruins more for our day.

From the first email through to our sparkler lit exit, every interaction and detail was perfect. I personally am a totally type B person, so I knew handling all of the details of planning a wedding would be super stressful for me. Their inclusive package handles all of the major details, including catering, cake, decor, cocktail hour, rehearsal, and beyond. Our day ran so smoothly and seamlessly, right on schedule thanks to Ashtyn. I was truly able to enjoy all of the details and our guests because we were not at all worried about extraneous issues.

For catering, they have so many options, but we had phenomenal cinnamon apple pork, lemon rosemary chicken, potatoes, green beans almondine, and the best mashed potatoes I've ever tasted. Our cake was delicious, as well! They are able to cater to gluten free, allergies, and other special diets, too, which was important for some of our guests.

Simply put - the venue is breathtaking with the rolling mountains, manicured pool area, captivating ruins, and overall charm; there's not a thing I would change about it. Our guests are still saying how gorgeous our wedding was, and we owe it all to The Ruins. All I'm saying is, I would get married a thousand times here, if I could.

THE best venue for North Georgia!

Our daughter’s wedding seems like a fairy tale, as I remember the details from May 2021 as a blur, but I will also remember the beautiful setting and loving support from DeAnne Major and the staff at The Ruins at Kellum Valley!
The day we met for a tour of the grounds and facilities at The Ruins, Carson and Andrew fell in love with the location because of its prominent position with a soft view of the north Georgia mountains, the open field bordered with arbors of trees, the farmhouse and barns, and of course, the historic ruins and pool deck. They were sold on the location; my husband Frank and I were sold on the way that DeAnne Major assured us that with vast experience, organization, and contacts, she and her staff could guarantee a lovely wedding, no matter what the or circumstance. THEY DELIVERED!
Because of a history of success in the hospitality field, DeAnne remained a calm and prepared whisper above the static chaos of wedding preparation! Every time I asked a “what if” question, she answered with a confident, “We take care of that!” What a relief! With that experience, staff, and director, Haili, we saw that many small details “fell into place,” as we were caught up in the joy of celebration! The collaboration with Honeybrook Catering, Cynthia Cakes and Cookies, and Flower Buds is extraordinary! We were absolutely pleased with not only the service and product quality, but the way that they worked together to create a beautiful experience! I didn’t even need a planner! All the big details were handled, with competence!
We are thankful to DeAnne Major for giving us the promised product. That was so important, as the time that we were planning the wedding was scary and uncertain. Covid-19 was a constant dark cloud over our thoughts of perfect plans. DeAnne never wavered or questioned that everything would be lovely and near perfect. We did battle through a painful year of Covid circumstances and last-minute threats (bride and groom’s house destroyed by a storm 10 days before the wedding, reports of 17-year cicada emergences, and sudden gas shortages), but the day of the wedding was PERFECT! Mask mandates had been lifted, there was enough gas in the area, cicadas did not show, and the weather was magnificent for May! It was a dream come true, as prayers were answered!
It’s smart that with a limited number of weddings a year at this venue, they can ensure that The Ruins at Kellum Valley will be a part of a dream-come-true experience for some star-gazed couples!

Best day ever!

I cannot brag enough on DeAnne and her staff. DeAnne was so incredible and responsive from my very first meeting with her, all the way through the reception. The crew at Kellum was so willing to work with my vision and did whatever they could to make it come to fruition. They nailed it. My husband and I could not have asked for a more perfect day and I owe so much of that to DeAnne, Cali, and the incredible staff of Kellum.

From the moment I saw pictures of the Ruins at Kellum Valley Farm online looking at venues, I fell in love, and the love only continued throughout the entire planning process with DeAnne and on the wedding day with my awesome coordinator Amber and all the staff. Once you visit Kellum Valley, no other wedding venue will compare. The catering, cake, chairs, tables, etc, and many decorations are all included, which was a breath of fresh air as it took a few things off my wedding planning to-do list, and DeAnne was so so so helpful every step of the way, always responding so quickly to all my questions with helpful responses and referrals to other venues in the area that were all phenomenal (especially Flower Buds!). I wanted a wedding day where my guests, family, bridal party, and me and my (now) husband could all take the time to enjoy the special magic of the day instead of running around stressed about the little details, and boy did the whole staff at Kellum Valley deliver. The Ruins are truly a special place, and we had the most magical, romantic, relaxing, and special wedding day! While there are a whole selection of ceremony sites, we chose to have the wedding in front of the ruins, and they made the most romantic and unique backdrop to our ceremony. Our reception for dinner and our epic dance party was in the ruins and our guests could not stop talking about the beauty of the venue. I loved the string lights and candles set up throughout the ruins during dinner and dancing. We also selected the option to have our rehearsal dinner under the tent at Kellum Valley the night before the wedding - it is a great space with long farm tables and we catered from 'Cue BBQ in Cumming. Everything about the whole weekend went off without a hitch. Thank you so much to DeAnne and the whole team at Kellum Valley - they do an amazing job!

I just got married this October and Kellum Valley Farm made it a truly amazing experience. My husband and I both lived out of state during our engagement which can make planning quite difficult but DeAnne and her staff went above and beyond to help pull everything together and and were extremely flexible with our schedules. I couldn't have asked for a better venue and can't thank them enough for making our wedding so wonderful. (plus it is absolutely gorgeous!)

I can't express how amazing Kellum Valley was. The entire property is gorgeous and would be a great backdrop for any ceremony and reception. The staff went above and beyond answering any questions we had leading up to the wedding and the weekend of the blow us away. The weather was not the best and everyone was so flexible and made the best out of a not ideal situation. Highly recommend this venue if you are looking for a beautiful outdoor space.

We got married in October 2014 at The Ruins at Kellum Valley Farm and I cannot brag on this venue enough. First, it is an extremely unique venue with natural beauty that requires no decoration to exude its magnificence. We still have guests to this day complimenting us on how beautiful and unique it was. Not that it needed any decor, but the variety of props that they offered for our use helped tremendously. You literally had a hand in how you wanted everything to look and I loved this. It was an added bonus! Second, with owners like Deanne and Joel, it made the process of wedding planning much less stressful. They were so organized throughout the entire process and extremely accommodating with anything we needed. They were so pleasant to work with and always made time to see us and visit with us when we requested to do so. Deanne always took the time to answer all of my questions, and I sent many emails! My husband loved hanging out with Joel while us girls worked through the details. Third, the vendors and staff that we used through Kellum Valley were not only very professional but provided quality products and services. The food was delicious delicious delicious...and the display did not disappoint! The cake was everything I thought it would be (and more) and tasted amazing. Matilda was our Wedding Coordinator and she was AMAZING. She made sure things ran so smoothly, I never noticed if an issue came up…and she wanted it that way. I will also add that we had our Rehearsal Dinner at this venue as well and the food was just as delicious, the service was just as wonderful, and because it was located at a different location within the venue under the tent, it didn’t give away the beautiful surprise of the ruins for the Big Day. It is a day I wish I could replay over and over. I owe every bit of it to Kellum Valley, Deanne, Joel and Matilda for the wedding of my dreams!

I cannot thank the ENTIRE Kellum Valley Staff for making my husband and I's dream wedding come true!! They are truly the very best at what they do and I can not say enough good things about them! We are from Florida and decided to do a destination wedding , so I consulted with DeAnne via e-mail regarding all of the information, and solely relied on photos since we were unable to make the trip to Georgia. We booked the venue SITE UNSEEN! This seems like something completely unheard of for one of the most important days of your life, but DeAnne answered every last question with incredible detail and made me feel completely confident in our decision....and I do not regret it at all!! The venue is stunning and immaculate...the photos just do not do it justice!! You are the only bride that day and do not have to share any attention with anyone else which makes everything more intimate and completely about YOU! The food is also top notch, we knew that once we had our taste testing our guests would be pleased, but everyone could not stop raving about how delicious their meals were! You will truly have the most unique wedding that will be talked about for years at KVF, and know that they will far exceed your expectations... as they did ours!
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
