About

The Melody Event Center is a charming historic wedding venue located in Portland, Oregon. Originally constructed in 1925, this beautiful property received a full remodel in 2018. Now, it offers an elegant historic setting for special days while still providing a host of modern amenities.

Facilities and Capacity

The Melody Event Center offers six separate event spaces for couples to utilize for their wedding celebration. The Tilikum Room provides an ideal space for a heartfelt wedding ceremony of up to 200 guests. Here, couples can exchange vows surrounded by warm wood tones. Afterward, guests can retire to the speakeasy-style bar and lounge for a relaxed cocktail hour. The main reception event can be held within the stunning Melody Ballroom, which provides 6,000 feet of elegantly decorated space for up to 400 guests. Here, polished hardwood flooring is complemented by pristine white walls and a 30-foot ceiling. For smaller ceremonies and wedding occasions, the beautiful Morrison Room can be utilized for parties of up to 175 attendees. This space boasts an abundance of large windows which allow natural light to grace events held here. Thick carpeting and ornate wainscotting add to the sense of refinement within this space. The Broadway, Portlandia, and Hawthorne Rooms are also available to host any number of wedding celebrations.

Services Offered

The Administration at The Melody Event Center strives to provide everything needed to create an unforgettable wedding event. Their dedicated event planning team will work directly with couples to bring their vision to life within this historic property. They provide full catering and beverage service and their culinary team is happy to curate a customized menu to suit event needs and styles. Many of the rooms within the venue are fitted with professional sound and lighting systems for couples’ convenience, and the venue can also supply a range of additional AV equipment. They are also happy to provide a selection of decor items such as centerpieces, linens, backdrops, chair covers, and much more.

Our Wedding & Reception ...

The Melody Event Center was the perfect venue for our most special event! Anna Sass and JB made sure all went perfectly for our special day. We hired their catering services as well. The food exceeded our expectations as well as the rest of the entire event and facility. Our guests used such words as "Classically Elegant, Most Magical Experience, Like Something out of a Fairytale, "A Magically Elegant Event that will never be forgotten" ...
We cannot thank you all at The Melody enough for helping to make our most special day the most memorable experience for us as well as our guests. We highly, with out a doubt recommend The Melody Event Center for any and all event needs, we hd the Portlandia & Broadway rooms and they suited our event "Perfectly"!

Thank you again Anna and JB, you all are AWESOME!!!!

Kathleen and Kevin at the Melody Ballroom were downright incredible. From the moment we walked in we felt like family. Throughout the course of planning our wedding there were an incredible amount of emails sent back and forth, which were responded to very promptly. They were also very accommodating and helpful when planning out everything from the ceremony to the reception. They made our wedding day special and would recommend the Melody Ballroom to anyone.

If you have a large wedding party, the Melody Ballroom Grand Ballroom is the perfect place. It was the perfect size for our 225 person wedding. It is your room to make the way you wanted it. You can do as much or as little to the space and it looks great. But the best thing about the space was Kevin and Kathleen! The staff there makes you feel so welcomed and take care of. Kevin is so helpful. He is there to help as much as you need, answers emails in a reasonable amount of time and works with you throughout the whole thing. They really made our even run smoothly. Their buffet and drinks tables were perfectly colored for our fall wedding. Plus to food was so good. They saved us a few appetizers and cocktails for us to sneak a bit before we had to be introduced. Dinner was so good and we got so many compliments from our family about actually enjoying the food and drinks. They really took care of us. If I got to do it all over (with the same groom of course) I would go back to the Melody Ballroom again! The only con is the parking, the space holds alot of people but parking is a little tight in that area. Not too bad, but we reserved the parking spaces for our older guests so some of our younger guests had maybe 3 blocks to walk after parking. Not terrible but just something to be aware of when booking.

We enjoyed working with the entire team at the Melody- Erin, Kevin, and Kathleen. All were very helpful and thoughtful as they helped us put together our wedding from scratch.

They worked really well with all our other vendors and guided us through the entire process. Thanks so much to the Melody team!

I've put on special events at Melody Ballroom for more than 15 years and have watched the venue improve its service, great paint jobs, top quality food, etc. Kathryn and her crew are easy to work with and responsive to specific needs whether it is finding the right color linens, letting us borrow items to create our table centerpieces, or providing a tasty vegetarian option. In addition to the upstairs main ballroom, the downstairs is a beautiful and more intimate setting. The wooden bar reeks of old-school elegance, the smaller ballroom area is perfect for a private Christmas party, silent auction or smaller wedding reception. There is just something magical about the building that you don't find in many others.

We had our wedding reception at the Melody Ballroom and it was absolutely amazing. The food and drinks were so delicious, we had so many people telling us how much they truly enjoyed it all!!! The staff was so pleasant and helpful and they made sure every detail was perfect on our special day. We didn't have to worry about anything except enjoying our special day!

The Architectural Heritage Center, a non-profit organization focusing on historic preservation education, has had its annual "Riches of a City" Heritage Auction at the Melody many times over the years and the experience has always been positive. Our auction is our largest fundraiser of the year, and vital to the financial health of the organization and our ability to fulfill our mission. In addition to preferring to hold our events in historic buildings like the Melody, we value the notably friendly and helpful staff and their overall professionalism.
