Everything was wonderful, the hotel was very accommodating, the ballroom was elegant and beautiful, and the the staff went above and beyond. There were rooms downstairs that we were allowed to use to get ready in, and the upstairs powder room was a beautiful place for pictures. My only complaint is that the upstairs deck could be so much better, maybe a tiki bar set up or a garden bar. They also did our food and we chose the pasta bar which was amazing!

The Lafayette did an excellent job making our wedding day perfect. We were able to get in the evening before the wedding to do our decorating. They provided tablecloths and napkins at no cost. Gorgeous chair covers are available for a fee--definitely worth it! They set up all the tables and linens for you. You just need to put up your centerpieces. The food was delicious and the bar was great. You can have an open bar, order kegs, and even order kegs from the Brewery to be used at the Lafayette. It was kind of difficult getting ahold of the person in charge of the hotel blocks, but once we got that straightened out everything was smooth sailing. Christina will keep you calm on your wedding day and make sure everything is taken care of for you!

Things are VERY different now. They now have Donna McKnight, the awesome banquet coordinator who helped us in every way possible to make things easier for us. From the initial meeting til after the wedding, working with them had been seamless for us.

We opted for a dessert reception, and we were amazed at what their pastry chef, Kathy Sloan, lined up for us. She even gave us her personal email so we can send her information and pictures of ideas that we found online. During the planning stage, she and Donna responded to our questions through emails and calls very promptly, which really gave us peace of mind knowing we were working with reliable people. We even got some useful ideas from them too!

But what we really appreciated was that they took care of setting up the venue for us - decor, buffet table, wedding cake setup, everything! For a very minimal fee, we never had to do it ourselves or impose on anybody in the wedding party or family to help us do it. On the actual day of the wedding, who would have the time really? We wanted our friends and family to enjoy our wedding day, and they let us do just that.

Donna McKnight, the event planner for the Lafayette was wonderful. She was responsive to every email, every question... and I had a lot of them! We had rave reviews on how great the food tasted and how fast the food service was. Don't forget to figure in taxes and tip when figuring the cost of your meal because that added almost $700 for me the weekend of the weeding... YIKES!
Also, though I didn't know about it until aftewards apparently the staff was less than thrilled about setting up my table decorations DESPITE the fact we had been promised that it would be handled 100%. My cousins took care of it for me, and it turned out beautifully!

The staff didn't have any sense of urgency and would do things that didn't make logical sense. The price was unbeatable and overall it was a good experience. Christina the sales woman is what made the experience go smoother. The hotel itself as far as rooms went was not as nice and the desk staff was not willing to actually do work.

Things may be different now, but when I got married there, I had to be on top of everything to make sure it all went well. For ex: they didn't put out any garbage cans for the appetizer stand, so people put dirty plates on my guest book table and everywhere else UNTIL I TOLD THEM TO CLEAN IT UP! I also had to ask them to put a sign on the door telling guests how to get back in once they went to the bathroom b/c it would lock them out. I had to ask for CLEAN linens because many were soiled (even though technically fresh from laundry). Many chairs were dirty, and I had to have them replace them. I had to ask many times for them to vacuum. It went off well, but it wouldn't have had I not been on them the whole time!

I have delivered many wedding cakes to the Lafayette Hotel, and I must say - it is a very stunning venue which is easily accessible. Each time the ballroom is decorated to the hilt and the staff are welcoming. I would highly recommend this venue for a wedding reception.
