About

The Church of the Intercession is located in Upper Manhattan in an area that borders two neighborhoods--West Harlem and Washington Heights. It is a Gothic revival building designed by architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue. This beautiful edifice, which includes the Church, Cloister (Garden), the Parish Hall and Vicarage (Gates House) has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior, in recognition of its historical and artistic significance. In addition, the buildings have been given landmark status by New York City Landmark, and are considered by many to be one of the finest of its design. With its classic English garden and impressive architectural design, the building has served as the backdrop for renowned photographers and for hundreds of film and television productions.
