My husband and I used to live in Bakersfield and we thought that Sweet Surrender was the best bakery in the world (and we have lived all over the world). We asked Sweet Surrender to bake our wedding cake. They delivered it to our venue (about 2 hours away from their shop) and it was the best, most perfect, moist, sweet, delicious wedding cake that we and our guests have ever had. My husband and I have been married for a little over one month and our guests are still talking about the wedding cake. Our cake was three tiers (vanilla, oreo and chocolate) with buttercream frosting and the bakers did the most perfect job. Thank you, Sweet Surrender!

We ordered an 8" Lemon Cake (featured in Oprah's Magazine in 2012) to use for our wedding in Montecito, CA as a "cutting" cake (not to serve to guests) and it was the best cake I've ever tasted....I'm not a cake person and this one won me over. I was happy that we got to save it for ourselves, but they would probably do a larger sheet size cake in this flavor for a large party if you want to share with your guests. I recommend them for Central Valley weddings or bride's with family in Bakersfield.
