Steve was amazing! He was the DJ and MC for our wedding and did a fantastic job. From the moment we met him, we knew we wanted to move forward with booking. He has so much experience in this industry and knew the right questions to ask to make sure our day flowed well and to ensure he knew exactly what we wanted. On the day of our wedding, he was very prompt and set everything up early, ensuring all equipment was functional and ready to go - he provided a lapel microphone for our officiant, a wireless microphone for a reading, and music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.
He was also very quick on his feet! We had a storm roll in during our reception that made the power go out about 6 times. He never missed a beat and had the music rolling where it left off as fast as possible. As a fun surprise for our guests at the end of the night, we broke out Steve’s karaoke system and sang the night away for the last hour. Steve is dependable, fun, and amenable to changes, and he played a large part in making our day so special. We cannot recommend him enough!

I have been the President of my College Fraternity Alumni group since the 1980s and have utilized Mr. Gregory's DJ and Karaoke services during many of our Reunions over those 40 years. He has worked diligently with me to ensure the programs we put together flow to cover the speakers involved and of course the dancing and celebrations we have experienced. I have also attended Weddings and other functions he has been MC of and without fail his personality and knowledge of what music to play when, has resulted in many wonderful weddings getting of with a memorable start..

Steve did such an amazing job as our wedding DJ! I wanted everyone to be dancing, and he did just that! I loved how open he was to song requests, and he even brought out karaoke mics towards the end of the night, which was a hit at my small wedding. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ.

Steve made our wedding into a real party–playing just the right mix of songs to get and keep people dancing, with both classics for the older folks and EDM/techno hits for us millennials. He was great to work with, and incredibly helpful not only in orchestrating the music and MCing the ceremony, but providing timelines and other resources to help us plan. This was extra helpful since we were planning and managing the wedding ourselves. Steve made everything we asked him to happen with tasteful flair and showmanship, and we can't thank him enough for his excellent talents for our wedding!

We worked with DJ Steve for our wedding in April and he was absolutely wonderful! Our wedding day ended up being a bit more flexible because of the rain storm, and Steve was more than willing to help flip our ceremony and cocktail hour to accommodate waiting out the rain for an outdoor ceremony. We're so grateful for his flexibility in the set up! Additionally, he was so communicative leading up to the big day and sent us a very detailed prep packet with questions about our ceremony and reception. This was an immensely helpful document to help me and the groom think through both of these aspects for our wedding day and talk through what we were envisioning. We discovered Steve Gregory via TheKnot.com. He was not originally a DJ recommended by our wedding planner, but I'm sure he will be from now on!

My husband and I are wanderlusts from Michigan who yearned for an intimate destination wedding. Our venue was a quaint and historic bed and breakfast outside of Harrisonburg, Virginia – 10 hours from our home.

Hiring a DJ was a point of anxiety for our wedding planning. We knew it would be a small wedding with 50 of our closest family and friends. Their ages ranged from toddler to super-senior. Our group isn't full of enthusiastic dancers. With these thoughts in mind, we faced some difficult questions: Did we need a DJ? Was it even possible to entertain everyone at the same time? Could the right DJ do the impossible and inspire our most stationary guests to dance? We can answer these questions with the benefit of hindsight: Yes, yes, and yes!

Steve and his wife, Gayle, charmed us on our initial phone consultation. We spent a little time on the call talking business and lots of time getting to know each other personally. It felt like we were talking to old friends. Our conversation made it apparent that Steve and Gayle understood how to make folks feel comfortable, informed, and entertained. That's how we felt while talking with them. We let the Gregorys know our concerns, and they delicately and expertly put our minds at ease. They set great expectations, responded promptly via phone and e-mail, and worked harmoniously with our other wedding vendors.

We first met Steve in person on our wedding day. He arrived looking dapper in a suit and smile. He brought enough equipment to set up the three locations we used on the premises for our festivities. Fast-forward to the reception, where we threw some small curveballs at Steve. We opted last minute to skip the cake-cutting. My mother decided we should play the "shoe game." Steve effortlessly adjusted and adapted, and our reception continued without missing a beat.

These are the types of things you expect from a good DJ. Now we're getting to the part where Steve amazed us --

Every one of our able-bodied guests danced that night. You could hear the proclamations from shocked family members, "Wow, this is the first time I've ever seen Uncle Neil dance!" Even our vendors danced that night! It's like Steve sprinkled magic dust on our feet, making it impossible to stand still. Steve engaged and delighted our crowd. His music selection spanned many decades and various genres, which appealed to everyone. Our favorite memory of the night is Steve playing "The Biker Shuffle." We didn't know it, but he taught us. He brought a microphone to the dance floor and gave step-by-step instructions before turning us loose. Steve Gregory - a DJ who's fun AND educational!

My cousin, who lives nearby in Michigan, became engaged last week. When she called to tell me, one of her first questions was, "Do you think your wedding DJ would be willing to drive to Michigan? He was the best DJ ever!"

I can't think of any higher praise than that. Well earned, Steve and Gayle. Thank you for everything!

My husband and I booked Steve for our wedding and he was great! His wife Gayle communicated with us during the planning process and was very organized. We appreciated their thoroughness. The planning guide they gave us to fill out was a great way to figure out how best to structure everything we wanted for the ceremony and reception. Steve went to the venue prior to make sure he was familiar with the set up there. He hit all the moments for our day perfectly! His sense of humor had everyone laughing. He effortlessly adapted to changes on-the-fly. He organized our Anniversary Dance and acknowledged all the longest married couples in attendance, which was such a sweet, unforgettable moment. The weather ended up being way warmer than we expected, but Steve managed to keep the guests dancing. We all had an amazing time and highly recommend Steve & Gayle! We can’t thank them enough for all their hard work.

Last weekend, 7/27, we hosted our daughter's wedding reception at the Brix and Columns Winery just outside Harrisonburg. In a word, Steve was exceptional, and, quite honestly, I've found it hard it differentiate DJs. Weddings require the right balance because they are intergenerational. Ours had the addition of military b/c both bride and groom serve active duty in the US Army. Steve carried the night perfectly. We had a number of people comment on how much they enjoyed the DJ. My wife and I, as well as the entire wedding party, couldn't agree more. Steve is a cut above, very professional, intuitive and pleasant to work with. We had a number of special requests, included old Italian songs just for my daughter's grandfather, that Steve worked into the night perfectly. We thought a 5 hour reception would be too long but we could have gone another hour at a minimum and that was very much in part due to Steve. We recommend highly with zero reservations. Great job Steve.
