STA Travel is amazing! They may not be the first option that comes to mind when planning a honeymoon, but if either you or your fiance(e) is a student, you should definitely check them out. Not only can they find you reasonable airfares with surprising flexibility, they've got your back if anything goes wrong.
My honeymoon was an unforgettable example of this. We used our local STA Travel office (Palo Alto) to book a trip to several Australian islands, and as always, were pleased with the prices that we got. As we were literally on our way out the door to the airport, my husband realized that he COULD NOT FIND HIS PASSPORT. We turned the house upside down, but an hour later, we still couldn't find it, and we were going to miss our international flight.
So we called our STA Travel and talked to the amazing Marin. She managed to rebook us on the same LAX-SYD flight the following day for NO EXTRA CHARGE. She also managed to book us on a new connecting flight that was surprisingly inexpensive considering it was less than 24 hours in advance. This gave us enough time to make a trip to the emergency passport office in San Francisco. After getting the new passport, unfortunately, we still weren't quite going to have enough time to make the new SFO-LAX connecting flight. No problem! STA Travel rebooked it for us again, FREE OF CHARGE. They are absolute wizards and I am so grateful to them. If we hadn't been using a travel agent, my husband and I would probably have lost thousands of dollars worth of air travel and would have been stuck in California for days if not weeks.
The story had a happy ending - we made it to Australia only one day late and had a fantastic honeymoon. My only regret is that I'm graduating in a few months and so I will have to look for another travel agent. :-(
