I was planning a wedding from 3,000 miles away from Los Angeles to Vero Beach, FL. Most of my vendors I could correspond by email or by phone. One thing I couldn't do was to taste cake. I thought, how am I going to order the cake from so far away?? I could give it the right look, but how was it going to taste?
I got beyond lucky that I saw a magazine ad in Hammacher.com. After a bit of research, I saw that their cakes got really high reviews. Since my wedding party was small, I decided to give them a try. I had the cake shipped overnight from Maryland to Vero Beach, FL. Kristen was very responsive and took care to make me feel like a secure bride to coordinate the cake's delivery.
I called my hotel's banquet department, as our dinner was to be held at the hotel, to receive the cake's arrival and to put it in the restaurant's refrigerator. Kristen said she couldn't decorate the cake's topping with an insignia, due to potential damage during shipping, but that I could hopefully find a local baker to do the topping. (I did. See next review.)
This bakery is famous for their 10-layer cakes. I loved this design because I think it is very elegant and unique. I chose the Red Velvet flavor because red represents hearts and love. It was beyond fantastic. Everyone, including my groom who is a picky eater, raved about it (the design and the taste).
