About

SALTY is a musical duo based in Boca Raton, Florida, consisting of LEE KALT and XANDRA K. SALTY performs an incredibly unique live show combining the sounds of dance, reggae, yacht rock, disco, and pop fused with tropical island-style grooves.

What makes Salty so powerfully addicting is that they create their own musical arrangements using innovative production techniques and live vocals. This allows them to dive into a wide variety of musical genres that go beyond the dance music scene.

If you’re a power fan of Sirius XM, chances are you’ve lingered on the Yacht Rock station. You may have closed your eyes and let the sweet, languid strains of artists like Steely Dan, Sade, and Toto transport you to a different state of mind. For most of us, that translates to summer, somewhere on or near the water, drink in hand, best friends nearby, and, generally, a sense of unfettered bliss. You can bring this feeling to your celebration with SALTY's unique entertainment. Transport yourself and your loved ones to a tropical paradise with the power of music.

You may have heard of Lee, as he’s no stranger to the Hamptons crowd. He’s well-known for his sensational jams at the Social Life Magazine Polo Match every year. He’s also a coveted name in the celebrity crowd, performing at events hosted by Tesla’s Elon Musk and many others. Combined with Xandra K, a classically trained opera singer, Salty imbues its music into your soul song after song.

What makes Salty so powerfully addicting is that they create their own musical arrangements using innovative production techniques with live vocals. This allows them to dive into a wide variety of musical genres that go beyond the dance music scene. The creative possibilities are endless, and the live vocals give us an unexpected and dynamic edge that sets us apart from other types of live entertainment.

The dynamic duo together has over 35 years of experience performing internationally. In fact, they just celebrated their anniversary on Memorial Day, having performed 136 shows in their first year of partnership.

Social Life Magazine sat down with Salty to learn more about their intoxicating music.

How did the two of you team up?

Salty was born during the Covid pandemic. We both wanted to continue our musical careers, but opportunities were limited due to the widespread shutdowns in the entertainment industry during this time. Then, like a “Phoenix rising from the ashes,” we conceived the idea of combining our vocal and DJ talents into a live show that we could perform in venues that would typically not consider a DJ and in dance music events where a live vocalist is unexpected. This is what makes us unique.

Xandra, tell us about your career as a professional opera singer?

My professional singing career began at age 13 as a member of the Central Florida Lyric Opera. I performed in various events, including operas, musicals, and dinner shows. I hold a master’s degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University. I was mentored by the renowned Carol Vaness of the Metropolitan Opera, who frequently graced the stage as Pavorati’s leading lady. Since then, I have worked with the Santa Fe Opera, Shreveport Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and as a soloist with the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra and the Ocala Symphony Orchestra. I also performed at the Miami Music Festival with the leading role of Sister Helen Prejean in the contemporary operatic production of Dead Man Walking.

Why have you chosen to keep 80% of your tour dates within the state of Florida?

Florida offers continuous work on two coastlines, plus the Florida Keys. In addition, it is a popular vacation destination that offers outdoor music venues and events all year round.

What type of Florida venues can we expect to see you perform?

We currently perform at tiki bars, marina restaurants, boating events, and waterside and beachside venues that are ideal for a sunset show. We perform public, private, and charitable events every week. We are based in Boca Raton.

Recently SALTY performed at well-known South Florida events. Can you elaborate?

Yes, this past winter, we had the opportunity to perform at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, the Okeechobee Music Festival, and Boca Bash, likely to be Florida’s craziest boat party in front of the Boca Resort.

We hear SALTY has been in the recording studio producing original music. What do fans have to look forward to?

We have reunited with Mark Alston, who we partnered with 10 years ago, producing records for Erick Morillo’s Subliminal Records label. Mark Alston’s recent success remixing Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart’ has made him an ideal production counterpart once again. These new productions will be out on Spotify and other music platforms later this year. In the meantime, our live sets can be found on Soundcloud.

Regarding touring, where will you be taking SALTY this summer?

We will focus on the Hamptons in New York this summer and perform in New York City, Montreal, and Hudson, New York. We will perform in the Hamptons at the Sunset Beach Hotel on Shelter Island, The Capri Hotel in Southampton, Social Life Magazine’s Hamptons Polo Match, and various private, public, and charitable events.
