Salisbury House & Gardens
About
Salisbury House & Gardens is a wedding venue and museum situated in Des Moines, Iowa. The original owner, Carl Weeks, founded liquid foundation and hypoallergenic makeup, so it is fitting that his 42-room mansion has received a magnificent makeover as a wedding venue and event center. The mansion was built in the 1920s and was inspired by The King's House in Salisbury, England, blending Tudor, Carolean, and Gothic architectural details. Today, to-be-weds can celebrate their romantic nuptials in style at this sophisticated estate.
Facilities and Capacity
From intimate elopements for 20 loved ones to large-scale receptions for 400 guests, Salisbury House & Gardens is suitable for events of all styles and sizes. Your guests will be treated to visual delights at this special destination, from the landscaped gardens to the manor house's enchanting interior. Antique furnishings from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, wooden flooring, and unique artworks and tapestries sourced by the original owners set the tone for refined occasions. You can say "I do" in the traditional chapel or outdoors, where tall trees envelope a traditional arbor and private manicured garden. White garden chairs, cocktail tables, and an assortment of round and rectangular tables are provided by the dedicated staff. Couples can curate their dream reception indoors, outside, or in an elegant marquee. A private dining room inside is lined with vintage portraits and wooden wall paneling that is ideal for micro weddings or rehearsal dinners. The main reception space inside the manor is home to stone walls, gothic doorways, a large stone fireplace, and tall candelabras. A classic red stone terrace is ideal for alfresco dining, where couples can blend rustic and refined accents to match their theme. There is ample parking on-site and the indoor event spaces are air-conditioned and heated according to the season.
