We had picked Kari out as our baker over a year in advance and had multiple meeting and check ins to make sure everything went to plan. The cake was beautiful and delicious, exactly like we had hoped for. We ordered 3 dozen mini espresso cupcakes on top of our 2 tier personal cake order, 3 sheets cakes, and we didn't even get to try them, as our guests loved them too much. We couldn't be happier with our experience and the quality of the desserts. She did amazing.

Best cake ever , tasted great, looked great and the service was spectacular. Kari is very talented and takes great pride in what she does. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Make sure you get a commitment and price from this vendor early. She was kind of last minute with our wedding.

We hired Kari to make our wedding cake. First impressions were amazing our tasting cupcakes were delicious.  We were more than excited to book her. Month before our wedding she was not very responsive on meeting to finish up final details due to vacation.  Said she would contact us a week before. Week before our wedding she calls to let us know she needed to setup our cake in a barn 6hrs before our reception due to having other obligations at the time we needed her to setup.. we booked her a year out from our wedding.. Knowing it was in a hot barn without ac. We talked it over and texted her back that we need her to setup later so our cake did not melt. She responded that she did not need to be talked down on and that she was more than willing to work with people who chose non ac venues in hot times of year. Our wedding was 9.10.21. She finished with she would catch up with us the next week which was our wedding week. We became very stressed out and concerned we might not have a cake at our wedding.. After we responded that didn't work we needed her to setup around 430.. she did agree. We felt unsure still but she did setup our cake on time that day. We bought fresh flowers and dropped them off the day before.  Our cake was setup nicely. We are giving 1 star not due to her cake but due to her lack of professionalism and stress she caused us.

I had a beautiful wedding but this was the most disappointing part! When I walked into my reception area, I was mortified at my cakes. The grooms cake looked NOTHING like Kari Haas and I had talked about and tasted awful! The main cake looked ok on the outside, except for the fact that it was supposed to be champagne and ivory, but the top layer was a dark tan color. It looked almost brown and was not attractive. When we tasted the cake, it was even worse. The cake was stale and tasted like it had been frozen for a while. I had 4 tiers that were supposed to be different flavors, but there were no distinct flavors, except for the lemon chiffon layer which was way overpowering and tasted like fake lemon juice. And the yellow hazelnut layer with chocolate ganache..well lets just say that people kept asking me if it was peanut butter or what it was. :/ The tiers had hardly any filling. I contacted Kari via email shortly after the wedding telling her of my concerns and requesting the full amount of the grooms cake and half the amount of the wedding cake back. She emailed back 4 days later. We did get the amount for the grooms cake back, but she would not comply to giving anything back for the main cake which was the greatest cost. Also, during the process before the wedding, I almost changed cake vendors because Kari kept getting everything wrong. We had to discuss about 4 times what it was that I wanted. It was a very stressful process. Unfortunately, there was no contract. Kari stated she does not have contracts. We definitely learned the hard way on this one. We do not recommend Parties by Design at all.
