We reached out to Melissa after seeing all the beautiful work that she has done. We were on a budget and she was able to help us figure out use flowers that would make the most impact, and how to repurpose things from the cocktail hour/ceremony for the reception later. The flowers were absolutely STUNNING and it was so wonderful to see our vision come to life. My friend has worked with many florists and was also impressed by the quality of blooms that Melissa chose to include in the arrangements. She delivered the flowers to the hotel where we were getting ready and then got everything set up at our venue so we didn't have to worry about a thing! We cannot say enough good things, she is amazing and we highly recommend her!

Melissa at Painted Rock was fantastic! We didn't know much about flowers, but knew that we wanted bold and bright colors, lots of whimsy and appropriate for our casual-but-classy Block Island setting. We had a large order, with over twenty centerpieces and and arbor, not to mention the bouquets, corsages, bouts, etc for the wedding party. Even with such a large number, Melissa kept everything under our budget, and was very easy to work and design with. She caught the vibe we wanted to have for the wedding, and was able to translate it into beautiful arrangements. Melissa really knocked it out of the park, and, weeks later, I'm still obsessed with the flowers!

Melissa was an absolute delight to work with and planning my flowers with her was one of my favorite parts of my wedding planning experience. She is very passionate about what she does, very personable and easy to communicate with. Getting a picture of your vision comes naturally to her and she will go out of her way (literally!) to work with you and give you everything you want. The flowers she did for my wedding were breathtaking. My ceremony arch was beautiful, my bridesmaids loved their bouquets and random people were stopping us in the hotel to tell us how gorgeous the flowers were! In addition to going above and beyond for me and having a true artistic flair for flora, she was really just such a great person to get to work with. I am so, so happy I chose her as my florist!

Melissa was fantastic to work with for my wedding flowers. She answered all of my emails/calls/texts very promptly, she worked with me for months to help create an amazing vision for my wedding day. I especially appreciated how she got to know exactly what I was looking for and found a way to create it WITHIN my budget. She delivered the flowers early on my wedding day with a big smile and even offered to help out with anything else I needed! She really went above and beyond and was an absolute pleasure. I highly recommend Melissa if you're looking for a florist on Block Island. She was super responsive to all of my questions and offered great advice on what flowers were in season, which were more expensive because they had to be ordered in bulk, which would hold up in the August heat, and which flowers could give the same look and feel as a pricier flower that I may have been interested in. She's also wonderful at capturing the look and feel you want for your wedding based on vague words and phrases I gave her like "classy but casual" and "whimsical." She's big on sending you pictures of bouquets she thinks might match your aesthetic, which I found super helpful. She's also very conscious of your budget, which was very important to me. I also really appreciated all of the legwork she did before I even signed the contract. I know that some florists make you commit to them and pay a fee even before you get a chance to see what they can offer you in terms of price and whether your style jives with theirs. With Melissa, she will work with you first on your vision and budget and only then will you be asked whether you want to move ahead with a contract given what she has suggested. It put my mind at ease and I didn't feel pressured at all. Melissa's super nice.

On the day of the wedding, she dropped off the flowers at a few different locations around the island and was super cheerful. The flowers looked beautiful and turned out how I had hoped. Overall, working with Melissa was a wonderful, easy and low-stress collaborative experience and I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone getting married on Block Island!

I met Melissa, owner of Painted Rock Designs at a wedding expo on Block Island as I was just beginning my wedding planning (a year out) I knew immediately she would be perfect for my wedding and what I envisioned!! Through email exchanges, Pinterest ideas, etc, we shared ideas and crafted the unique and romantic look and feel I wanted for the wedding. Melissa has a beautiful eye for exotic, lush and gorgeous arrangements; she really made it so easy to work with her! Melissa really worked with my budget to go above and beyond my expectations with bridal and bridesmaid bouquets, corsages, many centerpieces, cake flowers, and a decorated arbor. She met me on Friday evening for the rehearsal dinner at the venue to walk thru what I wanted and it really put me at ease. She's so professional and knowledgable that it's really easy to be at ease with her. On the day of I was nervous and surrounded by an army of people but Melissa showed up early with everything and the bouquets took my breath away. It put everything together as I readied to walk down the aisle. The centerpieces were so original and gorgeous, and Melissa captured the unique element I wanted, using lush and exotic flowers and greenery and even wood elements with real birch vases - simply beautiful and rustic! Melissa was so patient with me and all my back and forth with ideas, budget changes, etc... As wedding costs spiral out of hand it gets stressful, but Melissa really assured me and working with my budget she delivered what far surpassed my expectations. She is truly an artist and my flowers for myself, the bridesmaids and the wedding centerpieces were perfect - they came out more beautiful that I ever imagined. I met Melissa at the Block Island Bridal Expo and it was not only her work that made me instantly want to hire her but also her personality and the way she talked about her business as well (I know nothing about flowers except they are nice to look at she knows everything!). I am a true believer that you need to like and get a long with the people you are working with and she made that easy - she made every effort to understand our vision for the wedding at the Spring House and turned what I was looking for into reality. She had the unique ability to listen to my ideas, and to help me capture them and make them even more beautiful. Working with Melissa was absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough to get referred to her after she did the flowers for my best friend’s wedding on Block Island (which were beautiful). From day one she was so easy to work with. I don’t know much about flowers, but did the usual pintrest flower board and printed out a bunch of ideas. Melissa had all of these great ideas and incorporated flowers and greens I didn’t even know existed. I had a really great time working with her over the 9 months of planning.
