I had actually tried about 5 other bakers before I came across this one. She was the only one who actually sat down with me and was interested in my vision. Not to mention her design exceeded my expectations. The cake also taste amazing as well.

I chose Sugar Refined after looking just outside of Gainesville and pleasantly surprised by the pricing and variety of flavors. We were glad that Maria offered tastings prior to booking. As a gal that loves old fashions, I knew that we needed to have the Salted Caramel Bourbon flavor to go with the 4rivers BBQ at our reception. The sweetness of the caramel was balanced with the bite of the bourbon and the cream cheese frosting and my husband who does not normally like bourbon loved it too.

My husband and I did our cake and catering tastings on the same day and when we told the catering manager at 4Rivers Gainesville we were considering Sugar Refined she said "She is the best in the area!". We knew we had to book and were not disappointed.

Maria messaged us after our booking and told us that she was excited to work with us and loved our natural and understated style of our cake and cupcakes which I thought was nice! The chose a 2 tier semi-naked buttercream cake and a selection of cupcakes including the white wedding gluten free offering and our guests devoured them. We had mostly edible garnishes and our cake was inspired by her winter cakes and they came out so pretty! We received so many compliments on the desserts and we are excited for Maria to make a fresh top tier of our cake (in the Salted Caramel Bourbon flavor) for our anniversary ❄️💙

Maria was excellent from start to finish. She accommodated us for cake tasting and was great when we had to postpone due to COVID. We ended up going with an assortment of cupcakes and none of them disappointed. I especially recommend the salted caramel :)

Sugar Refined offers both delicious AND beautiful works of art. I loved the custom cake for my wedding. Booking was super easy and came out exactly how I envisioned it. I found the pricing very reasonable and will definitely hire again for future events.

This bakery was so fun to work with! We had a taste test with them and were able to pick our favorites, I gave them my vision, and they executed it perfectly! They were extremely easy to work with and communicated very quickly. The cake and cupcakes all looked and tasted incredible! Everyone was talking about how good it looked!

One of the best decisions we made for our wedding was choosing Maria at Sugar Refined Bake Shop to craft our cake! We knew from the beginning that we were going to be in great hands! For our tasting, she showed us a wide variety of examples that showcased her technique and style. All of the cake and icing samples we tried tasted amazing! We ultimately picked 2 flavors: 1) Strawberry shortcake - Vanilla cake with fresh sliced strawberries and strawberry filling made from fresh strawberries, and 2) Chocolate cake with creamy peanut butter filling. We thought a three tier cake was out of our budget because 2 other bakeries had told us it just wasn’t possible for our budget. But Maria worked with us to give us exactly what we wanted for a price we could afford! She was also very detail oriented and professional. Our wedding cake was phenomenal, exactly what we wanted/described to her...but better! I had a number of people tell me it was the best cake they have ever eaten! I would highly recommend Maria and Sugar Refined Bake Shop for all your cake-related wants and needs! Thank you again Maria!

You'd be a fool to pass up Sugar Refined for your wedding cake. This cake was a huge hit at my wedding! My manager gifted me a cake from here for my wedding day and not only was it absolutely gorgeous but it was incredibly delicious and I got tons of comments on it! Highly recommend, thank you so much for the amazing wedding cake.

Maria was so professional, easy to work with, and talented. I showed her a picture of a cake from Pinterest and she recreated it exactly. It was beautiful! Also, the cake tasted amazing - super moist and flavorful- not dry like a lot of wedding cakes. Several of my guests admitted after that they had more than one piece. She let us pick a different flavor for each tier, too, so we had some variety. My sisters-in-law asked if we could start ordering our cakes and cupcakes from her for family birthday dinners, so we will most definitely be back!

Maria made an amazing and delicious cake for our wedding. She was easy to work with and responsive to what we wanted. She was able to help us compromise on a cake design since we each had our favorite style and flavor. The result was beautiful and it was everything we could have hoped for. We cannot thank her enough.
