I have been so impressed with Mike's Custom Jewelry. Every time I went in their store they were so friendly and willing to help me in any way possible. Both my husband and I had our rings sized here and I took my ring in several times to be cleaned. They always were so speedy and made my ring sparkle!!

They have a wonderful selection in the store of jewelry to choose from and will customize any order. My husb and was able to create a ring for me, bring them a picture and they made exactly what we wanted. They have excellent service and the atmosphere in the store is inviting and unthreatening. My husband also purchase a beautiful pearl necklace and earrings set from them that he gave to me as a wedding gift. We got his ring from them as well, which was also custom ordered. We are 100% satisfied with our jewelry purchases and recommend them all the time.

My husband had his eye on a very expensive ring when we were engaged. He saw it at the same jeweler where we got my ring. It was nice, it was two toned gold with celtic crosses across the band, but I didn't have a job at the time we got married so I really couldn't afford it. He knew I couldn't and said it was okay if I just surprised him with whatever ring I could afford. So I started hunting around, trying to find somthing as close as possible to the "King Ring" as he called it. I even when to all the Pawn Shops in Salt Lake. Needless to say, I did not find anything close to what he wanted unless it was celtic crosses in silver, and those bands were to thin for his fingers anyway.
I actually wanted to get him something with white gold to match my ring, so I wasn't too thrilled to get him something with yellow gold, even if it was two toned. Anyway, I went to Mike's Custom Jewelry and the girl there was more helpful than anyone else had been, because while I knew a lot about diamonds at that point, having just selected my own ring, no one had really talked to me about different precious metals.
The girl at Mike's told me that silver isn't a good idea because it's very brittle and breaks very easily. And that gold is the next in weakness, although it's much better than silver. She recommended a titanium ring, that would still have a silver rather than a yellow look, but would be much stronger. I realized that this was ideal because my husband, is VERY hard on his things. He does a lot with his hands, and doesn't usually treat things very carefully, because to him, you can always get a new one. I had already learned this about him before we were married, just by how he treated his CDs. So, I decided that titanium really was the best thing.
I even left and looked around at some other places after going to Mike's, but I ended up back there because they had good quality for the price and they had been the most helpful to me. I got him a very nice brushed titanium ring that had a nice thick band for his big fingers, and he told me he really loved it. Even though it was very different than the "King Ring", it really fits his personality, simple and strong, and it looks very good with his wardrobe and other accessories and also looks good next to my ring. The funny thing about it too, is that it looks very masculine, and when we first were looking at rings for him, he didn't like any of the plain gold bands because he said they were too shiny. I guess to him that meant it looked to girly, so getting a brushed finish was just perfect for him, and I like that it's a little darker metal than white gold because I think that also makes it look more masculine.

Does Not Stand Behind His Work Product

When three of four prongs broke off a ring that Mike’s Custom Jewelry reset for me just three years before, I lost a diamond that I had inherited from my Mother; something you just can’t put a price tag on.

Mike was defensive, made no apologies, nor did he express any sympathy for my loss. He told me that he never warranties or guarantees settings on center stones. He claimed that the average lifespan of a prong is only three to five years, a questionable statement given that people wear rings for decades without prongs breaking.

Reputable jewelers stand behind their work product and take pride in offering a warranty or guarantee. Do not entrust your valuable jewelry to Mike Holmes.
