History

The club was established in 1891 and incorporated a year later, following an initial gathering of yachters who met under the Douglaston Yacht Club umbrella. In 1899, the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club was officially born when the members moved to Port Washington. A permanent clubhouse was constructed in 1902 and stood until 1929 before the current iteration of the building was completed.
