We stayed here to night before our wedding at SF City Hall. It was a great location and only a 10 minute drive. It is right by the embarcadero and we had a room with a view of the bridge. Everyone was so nice from bell hops to the front desk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here during our wedding weekend since we didn't want to trek back & forth from Oakland. The rate was great , the Bay view (from a high floor) was wonderful through the floor to ceiling windows, bathroom was spacious & they actually had really good soaps, shampoos, etc. I like the decor, but I saw a few rooms & they literally were all alike. Very gray. We actually were offered a suite, but it seemed to be the same size as the executive king room, which made the suite seem small & grayer. Kind of depressing, actually. So, we went for the more spacious single room. Their restaurant is ridiculously over-priced, as is their bar. But they have these great drinks--a cucumber gin smash (or something) that is just heavenly. Ordered room service very late, but the food was not great. And maybe this was just me being whatever, but I was also a little disappointed that they didn't do anything special for us--all of the staff knew we had just gotten married (I had gotten ready at the hotel), so a bottle of wine in our room would have been nice, right? Or even a free drink at the bar when we came in to have martinis at 1am after the wedding? Nope. Bottom line: it's a great place for business travelers & tourists, but a romantic weekend--not so much.

I do not say this lightly, but I can honestly say dealing with Le Meridien has been far and away the most difficult aspect of our wedding planning experience. In fact, the hotel has been significantly more difficult than all of our other vendors COMBINED. And it's not just my fiancé and I that feel this way. Both our wedding planner and our event bookers, who both regularly deal with hotel blocks, told us they have never dealt with a hotel quite as inflexible, unaccommodating, and unreasonably difficult as Le Meridien SF has been to work with.
We were told they could extend our rate for extra nights if we needed rooms, going even so far as to make those nights available on our web portal. But when our guests tried to book rooms for extra nights on our site, it said none were available (they were). When guests called to try to inquire about extended stays, they were quoted rates over the phone were often higher than the ones on the website. We were also repeatedly promised our group rate would be adjusted if the normal rates went down, but they refused to actually do so on multiple occasions; always promising to do so in the future, but always refusing when the time actually came. In fact, my fiancé and I needed to stay an extra night, but didn't bother because we thought the hotel might say no. I want you to read that again carefully: we were afraid to give this hotel more business because we thought they would not let us do so.
Throughout our entire experience with Le Meridien, we have been made to feel like we are a burden and a hassle to the hotel management, rather than welcome guests -- guests who, it again bears mentioning, are dropping quite a bit of money on their hotel. I sincerely hope future brides and grooms do themselves a favor and look elsewhere for their wedding room blocks, as Le Meridien San Francisco clearly does not care about their customers.
