About

In the mid 1800s, just a few years before the great California Gold Rush, Andres Castillera, a Mexican officer with the Artillery discovered his own riches in the lush green hills of an area known as New Almaden. Castillera’s bounty was cinnabar, a precious metal commonly referred to as “quicksilver,” and word of his discovery spread quickly. It wasn’t long thereafter that the small community was thriving with miners anxious to stake their own claims.

Had my wedding this weekend at La Foret. Throughout the whole process, John (owner) and Samy (Maitre d) were extremely helpful and accommodating. For the level of service, the delicious food, and the convenience, the prices are extremely reasonable.

This venue is both beautiful and convenient. The garden and restaurant can easily accommodate 100+ people. Ample parking. Great location next to a creek, does not need much decorating to make this place wedding-ready. Best part, we did not have to hire a caterer or worry about renting supplies. La Foret staff expertly handled all of this for us. Another plus: there is a large room upstairs for the bridal party to get ready if needed.

We called them up so many times leading up to the wedding with questions, and every time they were very patient and flexible with our requests. I had several guests compliment us on our choice of venue. Did I mention the delicious food? Just amazing.

We recently had our wedding ceremony at La Foret. We were very please with how it turned out. John and Sammy are very kind and professional and our guests were blown away by the food and the service. I look forward to enjoying many more special memories there in the years to come.

Something to be aware of: They don't really have a contract. You will sit down with John to go over the details (i.e. number of guests, amount of wine, etc.) and he will fill out a spreadsheet with the price that you can take with you. This, along with the general info in there brochure is the "contract". This worried me, but in the end there were no issues and they were more than fair.
