My wedding ring is just beautiful. They have a flexible lay-away program that allowed me to make payments and gave me excellent service. They even helped polish my engagement ring even though it was purchased from a different location. They were so great to work with and I had an excellent experience.

Ruined everything
I purchased a ring on 6/10/23, while purchasing ring I noted to the sales person that the diamond appeared to have a chip in it the sale person brushed this off and said everything is quality inspected on the floor and nothing would be chipped, he didn’t even take the time to look at it with a loop or anything. Me as an inexperienced jewelry buyer took his word for it, I wasn’t any the wiser. The ring was sent out for sizing and I got it back on 6/28. At that point I hid it away in a box in the closet in a coat pocket til the time came to propose. I presented the ring to my fiancée on 8/12/23. She wore it very rarely as she would not wear it to work due to the nature of her job. She noticed the chip while touching the ring and noticed it had a sharp edge and she was also able to visualize exactly what I had mentioned in the purchase date. I purchased warranty and even though the ring was sold to me like this I feel that the staff thought we somehow damaged it. We brought it back to the store immediately and it was sent out for repair. A couple days later I received a call that they were going to replace the ring with a new one, so that’s exactly what they did. When I went in to pick the new one up I thought it looked okay I asked the woman if I could look at it under a scope and she merely took a photo of just the top with an iPad. I took it to my car and further examined it and noticed the diamond looked smaller than the original and was very cloudy and not as shiny as the original. I immediately brought it back in and the sales person brushed it off again stating it was a diamond birth mark. I’m not the most confrontational so I just took his word again. This is a new ring so surely there must be paper work stating this right? No, even upon my request they could not produce it and said we don’t have anything to say it’s new because we’re not supposed to exchange rings like this. While I was waiting for the replacement I was told they were waiting for one to come from another store which was weird because when I was in the store a couple days earlier the exact ring was in the displays case. I decided to take the ring to a local reputable long time jeweler to further examine the ring. This jeweler was able to tell me that the diamond was an I stone, the lowest quality diamond you can find and nearly fell on the floor when I told him what I had paid for it. I then called Kay and said I wanted a refund and he said he couldn’t help me with that but could maybe exchange it. After my experiences I wanted nothing to do with Kay and just want my money back. Still was told I was outside of the 30 day return window which makes no sense because it was the day I got the brand new ring so shouldn’t the period have started over in the ring that I wasn’t able to get any paper work on? It was a new diamond so how come I didn’t get a new bond number warranty? Also they started my warranty inspection period over when I picked up the new ring. Michael advised me they are strict on their return policy but apparently not on selling customers chipped diamonds. I’ve escalated this to corporate hopefully that does some justice. I’ve already purchased a new ring elsewhere as this one is an embarrassment and is now collecting dust in the box as my fiancée and I can’t stand to look at it. I spent a good amount of money on this. Kay completely sabotaged our engagement and completely ruined this major milestone for us with nothing but stress. We don’t even have anything of sentimental value from that day the “new ring” actually looked worse than the original as far as the quality of the stone, and another thing it’s not the original so it means nothing to us anymore. We are saddened that you would treat a customer like this especially at such a special time in our lives. Now I’m stuck paying off a ring that we’ll never use it sickens us to even think about it and how wrong this company did us. Please just give me my money back I don’t want any Kay products in exchange you’ve lost all my trust and respect.
