We feel so lucky to have hired Katie Stoops to capture our wedding day. She is a nationally acclaimed photographer and yet made everyone feel so comfortable from the very beginning. We had rain during our ceremony that was a bit unexpected and she was able to pivot seamlessly to capture all of the photos we'd hoped for. We just received our full album of wedding photos, and felt that the photos truly captured the energy and joy of the day. 10/10 recommend - you will not regret it. We knew from the beginning that the right photographer was critical to capturing our perfect day, and we actually interviewed 8+ photographers during the process. Kate was already on our shortlist as we had seen her work at a friend’s wedding, but she was also highly recommended by another photographer who we had spoken to first, who was unavailable for our date. Once we got around to talking with Katie, it was very clear that she was the photographer for us, and this is absolutely reflected in the quality of work that she delivers.

When it came time to find a photographer, our wedding planner sent us Katies website and we are so glad she did!
Not only is Katie insanely talented, she is also incredibly nice and funny. By the end of our time working with her, she felt more like a friend than a photographer we hired to take our pictures. She put my husband and I at total ease during all of our portraits and blended in seamlessly when photographing everything else. She captured all of our must haves and got wonderful candid pictures of our guests. We We got married in October and received our pictures on Christmas Day(talk about the best Christmas gift ever!) some might consider that a long time to wait, but I promise it is worth it.

I don't even know where to start to express how much we love Katie. She's officially become a part of our family!

I found Katie through a google search of the top Washington,DC/Northern VA area photographers and after perusing Washingtonian Bride & Groom Magazine. After seeing her portfolio she was one of my top choices. But it was when we chatted on the phone that I knew we had found our photographer! We hit it off immediately and I really appreciated the questions she was asking as well as advice she was willing to give me, even though we hadn't signed a contract.

We booked Katie for her full-service wedding package that includes 10 hours. You can choose if all 10 hours are done on the wedding day, or a 2-hour engagement session and 8-hour wedding day. We booked the latter and are so happy with our results! Katie traveled to my husband's family farm in the Washington National Forest area of Virginia and was even able to put up with our high energy pooch!

We had so much fun with our engagement shoot, we knew the wedding day would be incredible! Because of the size of our wedding (more than 120 guests) Katie provided a second photographer and I am SO happy we did! What is truly amazing, is I cannot tell the difference between which photos Katie took and which ones Bonnie took. The consistency is perfect!

Katie and Bonnie also captured everything we wanted on our big day between the "must-haves" family photos to the candids on the dance floor. Everyone that has seen the photos agree, they truly captured the happiness and joy in everyone that day. I can't thank Katie enough and she will forever be a member of our family! So much so my in-laws have already used her for portraits!

Katie shot my daughter's wedding in Asheville, NC in November, 2017. Finally we are getting around to ordering our album. I just want to say that this company does things right. We have wonderful images of each of the myriad events she documented for us. I have vague memories of there being photographers at the wedding, but the shots they took make my memories of those events come to life. Thanks, Katie, (and crew), for your wonderful work. Can't wait for the book!

Katie (and Naz) are amazing. They made our engagement shoot and our wedding photography a breeze. Both are so so talented.

Katie is without a doubt one of the most talented wedding photographers in the country (just google her!). But, when you meet her, she is so humble and sweet you feel as though yours is the only wedding she is shooting for the whole year! My husband and I had to make last minute, day of changes to our wedding schedule based on the weather forecast and Katie jumped right in and hustled all day and night to make sure we had every last pose and detail captured despite the weather. I would absolutely recommend Katie to capture any couple;s most important day and they would be lucky to have her. I would love to work with her again someday!

Photography truly is the most cherished part of documenting your wedding day and my one recommendation is not to compromise on it. I researched 10 different photography vendors and Katie was admittedly the most expensive but no one else really can compare to the quality of her work. Her photos are beyond gorgeous and her her unique perspectives really remind you why photography is an art. She is responsive via email (usually within 1-2 days), she makes sure to capture all those little details you worked so hard to incorporate but didn't have a chance to even think about the day-of and she will even help you execute unique requests you want to include (such as setting up an impromptu photobooth!) She captures the photos you let her know you want taken but also manages to get the ones you didn't know you wanted, the ones you end up framing because you can't get over how amazing they are. If you're looking for a standard photographer offering nothing but posed/staged photos on a budget, maybe Katie isn't for you but if you're looking for something that resembles a spread pulled from one of the wedding magazines you've been pining over the past year of planning, hands down Katie is perfect.

I will note that we got married right in the middle of fall wedding season and as a result, it took some time to receive our photos (2.5 months...) but I promise, they were worth the wait!

My husband and I chose Katie to be our photographer after meeting her at two family friends' weddings and seeing the amazing photos from both (and after seeing how much the couples she worked with loved her). We did our due diligence and had looked at some other options, but nothing compared. She is wildly talented and has an incredible eye. The photos she took from our engagement session are phenomenal, and she showed us a few from the wedding, and we were equally impressed. We are so excited to see the rest of them. Beyond that, Katie is so fun and nice and just great to be around. We felt completely comfortable around her - which is important since you end up spending a lot of quality time with the photographer. All in all, Katie is the best. We would highly recommend her to anyone.

We were told the most important vendor to choose after your venue was your photographer, because the good ones book up early. Katie Stoops was the first on our list to call. We knew by looking at her online portfolio that she was extremely talented and we liked the fact that she used both digital and film, but it was icing on the cake when she came to meet us at our apartment (about a two hour drive away from her home) and greeted us with Georgetown cupcakes. Not only were the cupcakes delicious, but Katie's personality was wonderful and she got us even more excited about our wedding. Needless to say, after that visit, my husband and I both knew for sure that she was the photographer who we wanted to work with. Whenever we had questions or concerns, she was quick to get back to us, which was very comforting to two stressed people planning a wedding! The day of the wedding, she and her assistant showed up hours earlier just to scope the place out (even though she had photographed our venue before). She was professional and there to ease our worries, without being in the way at all. She captured us and our garden venue just how we had envisioned, natural and not too posed or orchestrated. We received our photos a couple months after our wedding date in the cutest little packaging. They are terrific, and we haven't stopped getting compliments. We loved Katie, would recommend her highly, and hope to use her again in the future for other special moments.
