When it came time to pick a wedding cake and find someone to recreate the vision we had in our heads we knew we might have our work cut out for us. She’s allergic to dairy, he’s allergic to nuts, and together we’re challenging to accommodate (especially when it comes to confections). All that being said, we cannot state it emphatically enough: Kathryn was the PERFECT person for the job! Right from the very first phone call she could not have been more accommodating and reassuring. Her willingness to hear us out and her confidence in her ability to get the job done put us at ease right away. We followed up with a visit to her shop for a (FREE) tasting and consultation to share our ideas and explore options. As a quick aside, if you’ve never been to Kathryn’s Confections you should stop reading this and head there now. The shop is very inviting with lots of colorful decorations and treats; our personal highlight being the array of smash cake portraits that adorn the walls. Also, we’ll definitely take the over when it comes to the number of items you walk out with compared to the number of items you thought you were going in for; they all look THAT good! Back to the business at hand, we sat down and got to try three different types of vegan cake: chocolate, vanilla, and Funfetti. Not only will you be hard pressed to find another shop that can offer three different vegan options, but you certainly won’t find anyone else that you trust more when they tell you not to worry about cross-contamination. All three of the cakes were some of the best vegan desserts we’ve ever tasted and we ended up choosing the Funfetti, which nobody else could even offer us as an option. Kathryn is very laid back and personable which creates a comfortable environment and made our discussion feel like just that, as opposed to a meeting with a vendor. We showed her a picture of how we wanted the cake to be decorated and Kathryn shared in our enthusiasm for how it looked. Not only could she do it but she never gave us a reason to doubt that she could pull it off. Our initial thought process had us just getting a small vegan cake for ourselves and then getting the rest of the desserts for our guests from a local bake shop we were more familiar with. However, after window shopping the display case and subsequently wiping the drool from our faces we found ourselves asking Kathryn more and more questions about other desserts. For X number of guests how many desserts should we have? How many different varieties would you recommend? So forth and so on. Kathryn gave us her honest recommendations and didn’t try to ‘sell’ us on anything. Everything she was saying was making sense, the pricing was very reasonable, timing, delivery, all of the logistics would be taken care of. Essentially, it all boiled down to “tell me what you want, and I’ll make it happen.” What more could you possibly ask for from someone you just met? We left the shop that day stress free; no money down, a promise to hold the date unless she heard otherwise from us, and no hard feelings if we chose to go another route. We looked at each other and we both knew we were going to go with Kathryn’s Confections but didn’t want to rush into anything. Picked out a few things to take home (cannoli, biscotti, chocolate covered Oreos and s’mores bites) and went on our way. One bite into that cannoli and the deal was sealed. Another wedding task scratched off our list, and we never had to think twice. We ended up getting all of our desserts from Kathryn’s Confections: three different kinds of cookies, two different flavors of whoopie pies, cannoli, and of course our vegan Funfetti cake. There were never any concerns about anything and we owe her and her staff a thank you for that alone. Fast forward to the wedding day and everything was perfect. The cake came out better than anything we could have imagined; and all of the desserts were a big hit. We saw a number of guests taking pictures and making multiple trips up to the dessert table, not a single morsel was left at the end of the night. Truthfully, we even had a few people text us the following day asking where the desserts were from because they left such a lasting impression (with an open bar no less). We’re not exactly sure what the next event or gathering is yet but we know where we will be getting the desserts from and it sounds like a number of our guests will be doing the same!

We are so happy with our experience with Kathryn! We met at our cake tasting and immediately felt comfortable working with her. She was organized and responded quickly to any questions we had along the way. We absolutely loved our wedding cake! We also received some many compliments on the cupcakes, and although we ordered extra we only had a few left! We would definitely recommend Kathryn's Confections!

Kathryn was an absolute joy to work with. My fiancé and I ended up moving our wedding date up due to some familial things and needed a cake within 2 weeks. Kathryn was so accommodating and helpful with picking out a type of cake and letting me send her our ideas. The day of our wedding the cake was on time, looked gorgeous, and most importantly it was delicious! My grandma has celiac disease and said the gluten free cupcake they brought for her was great as well. I would highly recommended Kathryn’s Confections and hope to work with her again.

Amazing! Cake came out amazing! Looked perfect tasted perfect everything was perfect! They dropped it off at our reception used our own personalized topper I had ordered and everything went great with the cake testing. They offer so many different flavors and fillings. Super affordable too!

Kathryn did cupcakes for our wedding this past September. I am gluten free and she was able to do a gluten-free cake as the cutting cake for me. Kathryn was amazing! super professional and helpful. Cakes/cupcakes were delicious! We expected to have extra at our wedding...but there wasn't a single one left! Very happy we chose Kathryn's confections for our wedding.

Kathryn was amazing!! I'm still getting compliments on our wedding cake all these months later. She accommodated my husbands lactose allergy and made us the most amazing rehearsal dinner cake based on the conversation my mother in law and I were having while we were trying to figure out what we actually wanted. Her lemon curd is the best in town!!!

Kathryn was so fun to work with creating our wedding cake. She took in all my ideas and created the most beautiful cake. She truly surpassed my expectations. Her cake favors are amazing and it was tough deciding on just 2.

I will be using Kathryn's Confections for my upcoming wedding. I went to my tasting in January and she was awesome. I had done a tasting at another bakery and although the cake was great, I didn't have the same feeling as I did when I left Kathryn's. She was very responsive, her cake is delicious and her prices are dirt cheap. She is very personable also and shared so many suggestions with us for the cake.
She has moved her shop to Salem though if anyone is looking for her!

My daughter ordered a cake for the Bridal shower. She found a picture of cupcakes in the shape of a bouquet. Kathryn made it just like the picture and it was absolutely gorgeous! And they were yummy too!!

Kathryn is great and her cakes are even better. She will work with you to do anything you are looking to do for your event and her cakes are so beautiful. She is very creative and her cakes are very reasonably priced. She works well with you to make sure your cake for your event is perfect.
