Jessica Carr has been a part of my family’s photographic memory for almost 10 years. I found Jessica offering mini sessions in a sunflower field and convinced my husband, Kevin, that we needed to drag our two children under two out into public dressed in white. The pictures were incredible, despite the uncooperative toddler and infant subjects. She photographed my daughter‘s first birthday, down to the naked baby covered in cake in a kitchen sink. We had family photo shoots in every season, my husband said no one else would ever take our family pictures. There were fall photo shoots, vintage Back to School, Americana watermelon, snowy winter, spring tulips, cherry blossoms at the zoo. As our daughters got older, they were princess themed shoots and even Harry Potter at the B & O Railroad. There isn’t a picture in my house that wasn’t taken by Jessica.

My favorite photo shoot was our family in the clover field. That was also the last photo shoot Jessica did of our family with my husband Kevin. In 2022 he was diagnosed with a rare cancer later determined to be from his military service. We lost him that August.

One of the things I learned being a mom was that sometimes you focus your own lens on your children because they will only be this little once. After losing my husband, I cannot share how many times I looked at pictures I took of my daughters and wished that I had taken one step back to see their dad watching, but I was too busy watching them. Jessica‘s pictures of my family are so incredibly precious to me because she took the step back. She is great at getting posed pictures, but it’s those candids of my girls looking at their daddy that I treasure. Those randoms of him gazing at me. If I could give advice to anyone, it would be to take the pictures. Because one day you may look up and pictures are all you have.

That might’ve been the end of our story with Jessica, but it wasn’t. She came to my husband‘s memorial. After a few months, she called me out to a lavender field to take our new family pictures of me and my six and eight year-old daughters. A year later, she talked me and the girls into climbing up into a clock tower in gorgeous gowns. Our family changed, but Jessica was a constant. Her pictures were a reminder that the three of us could be a family.

But this was not to be the end of our story. After losing my husband, Kevin, I reconnected with a soldier I wrote letters to when I was in college. Tamp was my best friend and understood all of the ways that having Kevin and also losing Kevin changed me. When we decided to get married, there was no one else I could imagine photographing our wedding and capturing our new family. Jessica was with us all day and the pictures are absolutely perfect. But almost more important than the perfect pictures, was Jessica‘s presence as a through line finding our way as a new family.

Anyone can see from looking at her portfolio that Jessica‘s pictures are beautiful and her editing is amazing and her creativity is off the charts. But the most important thing is and has always been that Jessica sees your family and captures the essence of your dynamic. She meets you where you are and finds beauty in moments that are much more complicated. That is what is proved to be the most meaningful thing for our family, every iteration of it. And I am so thankful to have those moments and those pictures and Jessica.

We hired Jessica for all 3 days of our wedding celebrations and she did such a fantastic job. She was super organized and on top of everything, went above and beyond in thinking through things I would never have thought of and talking directly with venues to ensure everything was perfect. She did a great job keeping everyone on task and corralling folks for our huge family photos. And of course, the photos are stunning!! She's a pro. Definitely highly recommend working with Jessica.

Jessica is the perfect blend of professional and friendly! Upon meeting her, I immediately felt confident that I was going to have a great experience from start to finish, and I have, EVERY time I've worked with her! Jessica is warm and friendly, making her clients feel comfortable and at ease. The process was a smooth one each time, as Jessica and I were able to effectively communicate and I found her to have the patience of a saint. I will add that she was fantastic at keeping me in the loop with respect to her editing process. I found her turn around estimated time to be MORE than reasonable, and because of the quality of her images and editing, I gladly would have waited much longer. Jessica sees, through her lens, what others do not. The little things we might not even see, but that we will cherish forever on our living room walls until we are old and grey. She sees the way the husband looks at his beautiful bride. The tear sliding down the father-of-the-bride's cheek. The sassy look on the flower girl's face. Jessica sees it all and she catches it!! Somehow! She's magical, I tell you. Book with her and you will NOT regret it.

Jessica was absolutely fabulous to work with. She captured the true essence of our family in her images all while providing exceptional customer service. She was outstanding with my children and was prompt with her responses to any questions we had. And the value of her work was unbelievable- she provided more images than expected with a quick turnaround, and each one of them was priceless. She's an incredible professional, and I recommend her to everyone.

It takes forever to return your pictures. She is a good photographer and her bookings could be increasing however it is taking a toll in her turnaround time. Providing multiple excuses why these are not ready (after a month waiting!!) Spreading too thin.
