We booked this restaurant for our reception because we wanted to get married out on the Ellwood Bluffs beforehand and it was much closer than any other restaurants that offered private dinners. There were some red flags from the beginning: not being available to take our call for our initial inquiry, taking up to a week to respond to emails, not really having a definitive plan for the set-up for the event...but the location was ideal for our needs. When we emailed the event coordinator, we gave details about our desired date, start time, and other necessary info. We paid the deposit to hold our date. We created our Save the Dates and even our invitations. We posted information on our wedding website. Our families made reservations for hotel rooms close to the reception.

Well, fast forward to the present and we have been forced to cancel our event. Jane at the Marketplace failed to note our desired reservation time. A few days after we paid the deposit, they told us that they needed to know what time we wanted to come. When we reiterated our time, their event coordinator's response was, "We will put you down for an approximate starting time of 8pm. I do want to let you know we are only open until 10pm, to ensure you get your maximum time needed for a nice, relaxing dinner." When we replied that we were surprised by her response since we had discussed the our desired time several times, she replied, "I'm sorry, but our business hours are only from 5pm-10pm 7 days a week. Because of this, we would need the guests out by 10pm." So, because of their inflexibility on this, we ended up having to cancel and asked for the venue to pay for the reprinting of our invitations. They told us no because it was our mistake.
Fortunately, after a whole bunch of back and forth over email, and after we showed definitive proof that they were the ones who made the mistake, Jane refunded our deposit and agreed to reimburse us for printing costs. So that's something...
