Captured our Fairy Tale wedding
John is amazing to work with, has an incredible eye and is just an awesome person! He was incredible flexible with traveling to take our engagement pictures to having to deal with a lot of rain between my bridal portraits and the wedding! Our pictures are just unreal and he will definitely be on the top of our list the next time we need pictures done!

We had such a fantastic experience with John and Emma, who photographed our wedding two weeks ago! John was absolutely wonderful leading up to our wedding; he really listened to what we were looking for, made suggestions, and was super flexible in agreeing to photograph our rehearsal party. On the day, they both laughed with us, made us feel relaxed, and took gorgeous photos - and we got our sneak peek photos back 2 days later!!! They are perfect - they captured the day in exactly the way I was hoping. Can't wait to see my full set of photos, which I know will be awesome, and can't recommend J. Ellis Photography enough!

We wanted to have incredible wedding photos, but weren’t thrilled about the idea of posing in front of a camera ourselves. (Turns out the latter is required to achieve the former…) When we met John, however, our hesitation melted away. His calm and engaging demeanor put us at ease with the process. He offered professional direction, humor, and an artistic spirit while staying flexible and organized. And in the end, his images are timeless, capture the emotions of the day and are even better than the “incredible” ones we were initially hoping for!

John was absolutely wonderful to work with, from start to finish. John helped us feel comfortable in front of the camera, and we were so appreciative of his cool and calm personality during the craziness of our wedding day! We could not be happier with how both our engagement photos and our wedding photos came out. John is incredibly talented, and was able to capture both our personality as a couple and the beautiful surroundings in our photos in really creative and unique ways. His pricing is competitive, especially for the exceptional quality of his work. Would recommend a million times over!

We worked with John for our engagement and wedding photos. He was so wonderful. I was a little nervous about being the center of attention, but John put me and my husband at ease from the very start. He was so professional and fun to be around. We are so pleased with the final results and absolutely love both sets of our pictures. Everyone kept telling us how important the pictures are because that is your lasting memento from the wedding and I am so glad that we hired John!

We found John through a Bridal Show at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton. He had a fun photo booth set up and if you jumped in to take a photo, he entered you in a contest he held on his Facebook page to win free engagement photos. We won!! After checking out his webiste and Facebook page, we were sold on using him for our wedding. He traveled down to Blacksburg to take our engagement photos on the campus of Virginia Tech and they were stunning! I knew I loved John when he asked if I had a Pinterest wedding board!!! He went out of his way to add such special personal touches to our wedding and did a wonderful job of capturing all of the details of our wedding, especially since most of them were handmade. Despite rain on our wedding day (good luck, right?!), he captured absolutely gorgeous photos. John is wonderful and we definitely recommend him for any photography needs!!!

Jon was amazing. He traveled a few hours for our wedding and came a day early so unexpectedly was able to get some great shots of our rehearsal dinner. He was so easy to work with and extremely patient which was very important because we have very large families.
He was extremely enthusiastic which brought up everyone's energy. He was also very flexible and organized; getting outdoor shots done very quickly due to the extreme temperatures.
