Imperial 55 is an intimate venue located in Winter Park, Florida, on the cuffs of Maitland. Our venue offers a flexible event space that accommodates up to 100. We kept you in mind with our décor by creating a space that allows any theme to be incorporated with ease.

Worst experience ever! What a nightmare!

I strongly urge anyone who values their hard-earned money to avoid doing business with these deceitful and unethical individuals. Before booking my event, I asked several questions to ensure transparency. Michelle, the so-called assistant, had to repeatedly consult the venue owner, Tracey, before providing answers. One of my key inquiries was whether I could host 100 guests, given that their online details stated a maximum of 74. Michelle assured me that it was permissible, as long as I paid an additional $5 per person over 74. She also claimed I could make changes up until the final payment.

Therefore, I booked the event in the second week of November for a January date. Shortly after, when I realized more people wanted to attend, I contacted Michelle to update the guest count. Once again, she had to consult Tracey, who now acted as if it was a problem. Now saying that she don’t know if she would approve my new guest count. The following day, I received several different emails with multiple additional fees. The extra guest fee had now inexplicably increased to $8 per person. When I referenced her earlier email, she simply responded with the generic excuse that “prices are subject to change.” On top of that, the cleaning fee was increased, and the deposit was upcharged, leaving me with hundreds of dollars in unexpected additional costs beyond my final payment.

To make matters worse, after reaching out to Michelle to discuss the matter, she began ignoring my calls entirely. I was forced to have my out-of-town planner call her, which prompted her to finally answer. Once she realized who my planner was, she promised to call me back at 3 PM, claiming she was headed to a meeting. That call never came. Instead, she emailed me at 4 PM, demanding that the balance be paid by 5 PM, or I would be unable to add any additional guests. Such behavior is disgusting, unethical, and indicative of a business built on deceit.

Adding to her unscrupulous tactics, I was initially told I could hire my own independent bartender if I paid an additional $100. However, because I inquired about the cost of using their bartender, she suddenly claimed I was now obligated to pay $415 if I wanted alcohol at the event. She also demanded I obtain event insurance with highly specific requirements—Carry a minimum of $1M Occurrence / $2M Aggregate Liability insurance policy, and name ‘Imperial 55 Event Center, LLC, 1335 Howell Branch Rd. Winter Park, FL 32789’ as additionally insured.  Must add Host Liquor Coverage if alcohol is being served. Medical Limit; $5,000—all of which were only disclosed after I had already purchased the insurance based on her original, vague instructions.

This level of deception, greed, and outright dishonesty is beyond belief. It’s literally only been a couple weeks after I paid $1100. Tracey clearly knows what she’s doing, and her actions are nothing short of predatory. She is untrustworthy, unethical, and highly unprofessional. She is a complete fraud and scammer, buyers be aware. Working with these people, is nothing short of a nightmare..

I must also point out that the assistant, Michelle, recently had a baby and mentioned that she, her boyfriend, and the crying baby would need to be in a back room during my event. The baby’s cries were reportedly audible through the walls, which my planner noted was highly unprofessional. Additionally, when my planner visited the venue on a separate occasion to review the layout, the baby was crying so loudly that she expressed concerns about it potentially disrupting my event. However, unfortunately I had already paid my deposit.

Not to mention, the exterior of the venue is poorly maintained. When I inquired about having it pressure washed—or even offered to handle it myself—I was met with resistance and pushback. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of avoiding this venue, the people that runs it, and their outrageous, unethical practices.
