We booked Hopmonk Tavern for our rehearsal dinner. It’s my husband’s favorite Sonoma restaurant, and we both thought it would be fun to give our families and wedding party a break from wine and treat them to beer and tasty pub food before the wedding!
We had lots of fun eating in the beer garden in the beautiful weather. The food and drinks were delicious, and our server was AWESOME!! But working with the manager to plan the event was, hands, down, the most stressful part of planning our wedding. If we had it to do again, I would save myself months of hassle and book somewhere else.
Though we tried to begin the planning process about 8 months in advance of our rehearsal dinner, we found ourselves still hashing out details the day before the event, and there were mistakes on our chosen menu on the day. Not only did PJ constantly delay in responding to our emails, her responses never fully addressed our questions or concerns. Her attitude suggested that a full luncheon for twenty people was a simple task to arrange, but her poor organization and awful communication skills almost ruined the event for us.
Perhaps if we’d had a larger party and had handled arrangements through the event planner, we would have had a better experience. However, I cannot recommend booking this venue for a smaller event, if PJ is your contact person.
