The Queensboro Bridge was built and first opened to traffic in 1909. Guastavino’s resides just beneath this bridge and was designed by Rafael Guastavino and his son. They had a plan to develop the space into a commercial setting for local vendors to utilize. Guastavino is originally from Barcelona and his Catalonian architectural influence is recognizable in the vernacular technology used to construct the vaults. The space was used by local vendors to buy and sell fruits and vegetables until the Great Depression hit. Following those years, this space was used by the city’s Department of Transportation until 1973 when the New York City Landmarks Preservation Committee declared the Queensboro Bridge and the spaces below it a landmark. Guastavino’s has been protected from entrepreneurs looking to develop that area ever since.
Guastavino’s provides and on-site wedding planner and event coordinator to help assist you in planning your special day. The staff with handle all the set up, clean up, and tiny details of your special day so that you can focus on enjoying the celebration. Additionally, Guastavino’s offers on-site catering services and bartending, but also allows outside vendors of your choice. We were married at Guastavino's on 12/15/18 and the entire day went by so smoothly.Sent on 01/04/2019
Megan and Annmarie (the event managers) were so thorough, organized, creative, and attentive throughout the entire process. They are open to any request and make you feel at ease.
The food was outstanding -- you get a large qty of cocktail hour choices (all of them amazing) and entree choices. The food doesn't feel mass-produced like at some other venues. Every dish seems like it was made special for you. My only complaint is that I wish the cocktail hour was more than an hour! The stations and pass-arounds were exceptional.
The bar service exceeded expectations -- the signature drink at the cocktail hour was served as guests left the ceremony so the bars didn't get jammed, plus there were plenty of trays of champagne and wine for people to grab from. The bars never really formed a line. Not to mention, Guastavino's only serves top-shelf brands. The reception service was treated the same way...servers came around with wine/drink orders, wine was on the table, plus guests can go up to the bar.
Music -- we chose Cafe Wha (also outstanding) and the acoustics/partnership between the band and Guastavino's was perfect.
General flow of the day -- soooo organized, on-schedule, and seamless. I can't name one hiccup.
The best part is that Guastavino's assigns both a day-of coordinator to make sure you stay on schedule AND a bridal attendant (she was incredible. I felt so spoiled!).

Guastavino's was so amazing. The whole team worked so hard to make our wedding dreams come true, in fact the whole day exceeded our wildest dreams. Everything went so smoothly, my groom and I were able to enjoy every minute without a worry. The whole wedding planning process was fun, stress free all leading up to the most beautiful day in our lives. Wish we could do it all over again!!Sent on 01/13/2019

The most beautiful space I have ever seen. John, who first toured the space with us, was attentive, responsive, and did not leave a single stone unturned when discussing what our wedding would include. Holly, the event coordinator, was responsive, so very professional, and supportive when it came to even the most mundane of questions that we had. She thought of everything, and when I sent her a list of what I wanted done with all of the elements that I'd planned, she did exactly what I asked, and intuitively did things that I did not even know to ask for. It was as if she understood the details that I envisioned in my dreams, and made them a reality. On the actual night of our wedding, Sandra, the Bridal Attendant, made me question whether or not I should ditch my plans to marry my groom, and marry HER instead! She was two steps ahead of me at all times, making sure that everything I needed was provided before I even asked, and that the magic I'd planned for all along would be the reality of the night. Joseph, the maitre'd was spectacular. My husband believes that Joseph is the reason our guests are describing our wedding as "absolutely perfect." He made sure every single move of the night was perfectly coordinated on the part of the staff at Guastavino's. Our timeline was orchestrated like that of a marching band; every member of the team at Guastavino's had a specific role or job there, and when they all worked together, what was produced can only be described as absolute magic.Sent on 12/18/2013
