Small team (2-10 members)

Glass House is a unique wedding venue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that works to influence culture and connect communities. Here, the team strives to build an urban utopia just north of downtown Minneapolis. This one-of-a-kind property is shaping itself to become a creative enclave, centered between the historic farmers market and the soon-to-be light rail stop within the Root District. Over the last several years, Glass House has been the headquarters for the industrious glass-blowing factory (Hennepin Made), a minimalist cafe (Parallel), a space for creative happenings, a retreat for artists, and an unlikely center for cultural exploration. Today, it is becoming a place for cultural exchange and a gathering place to empower ideas and the people behind those ideas in Minneapolis.

Facilities and Capacity

The Holden Room at Glass House welcomes both intimate and lavish celebrations, offering space for 250 guests seated or 450 standing. It is a formal area decorated with live plants, trees, and handcrafted light fixtures, and features custom eight-foot mobile walls. The room sits adjacent to the Greenwood Lounge, a well-lit cocktail hour venue with in-house bar service and a series of personalized beverage packages available. An alternative to indoor parties, the outdoor courtyard can host both ceremonies and receptions. Access from inside to out is easy, so if the weather turns, the wedding party can easily move indoors without impacting the day's flow.

Services Offered

The professional team at the Glass House will be on-site to make sure the day runs as smoothly as possible. They provide all manner of decor and rentals, from tables and chairs to customized furniture. On top of that, they will provide newlyweds with a list of the best local caterers and vendors to guarantee the wedding day is an absolute success.

Stunning wedding reception and fantastic staff!

From start to finish, the Glass House staff were complete professionals and incredibly responsive and flexible. The venue itself needs very little decoration because it’s stunning all on its own. Also plenty of space to get down on the dance floor or to go unwind if you’re needing time to chill.

One of the best "Make it Your Own" canvas venues in MPLS

As a wedding, mitzvah, and event planner, I love Glass House. It's a perfect space to create your event with any style and design you can bring to it. The blank space, with ceiling rigging points (this is huge for design) and an included lift on-site (this is an even bigger deal people don't understand), plenty of natural light (but shades if you need them for AV) and it's overall versatilaty - this space is one of my go-to suggestions when people are looking to dream up something special and dive into design.

AND on top of that, the space has some of the best event management around! We love them!

Trust Me - You Want to get Married Here

If I could rewind and do my wedding day all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing, and that is largely because of Glass House and all of the wonderful people my husband and I worked with along the way.
Yes, it’s a great space: a blank canvas for you to create the wedding of your dreams. But the reason we were sold on Glass House was because of Lauren, who took us on our initial (and second and third) tour. We didn’t get to end up working with her, which she communicated well in advance, and Alyssa was more than ready to meet the challenge. We felt prepared and carefree walking into our wedding day.
On top of that, the crew who worked our wedding was incredible. From the bar staff to the wait staff to security, everyone was professional and, most importantly, personable. They elevated our experience to a 12/10.
Glass House was the perfect wedding venue for us. With the perfect skyline of downtown as its backdrop, I was tickled to introduce my out-of-town guests to my new home with such a stunning view of our city. The bar space is beautiful, the most gorgeous bar I’ve seen in a venue (sold), and I loved that there were easily accessible options for our guests to wander outside whenever they wanted. We recently celebrated our 1-year anniversary and we went back to Glass House to say hi to everyone and to bask in the memories.
We had the most fun-filled, sentimental, and memorable wedding, better than we could’ve ever imagined, and we owe a great deal of that to Glass House.

Great space, not great management

Context: I had my wedding at Glass House in September 2024. My mother works in the wedding industry (planner & florist) and does 70+ weddings a year, so this review comes from the lens of someone with a deep understanding of the industry.
I’ll start with the good: the space is gorgeous and can be a beautiful canvas for an event. Lauren, the bartenders, and security were all amazing and a pleasure to work with- where things went wrong was when Lauren went on maternity leave (we knew that was coming) and things could have been handled much better in her absence by the Managing Director, Alyssa.
We had the 60-day walkthrough finalizing bar selections, ceremony set up, etc. We were told that we could customize how we hosted the bar: i.e. cap at 50 high noons for example, which we did. After the wedding, we learned these were not tracked at all and the number and cost almost doubled, along with a billing error of 6 extra bottles of pre-ceremony champagne (about $800 for the high noon overage & 6 bottles). Alyssa only mentioned in the emails after the wedding that “we don't cap individual bar items as that is too difficult to track during service” (again, never mentioned during the 60-day walkthrough, told the opposite). Glasshouse has a POS system, and my mom in 25+ years has only seen this happen once or twice with a venue on accident where they fully corrected it, but never where they had to pay overage after they were told the bar would cap at an amount.
We also agreed at the walkthrough with Alyssa that the ceremony should be facing west, or away from the parking lot and the construction. Day-of, Alyssa was not present, and this was apparently not communicated to the onsite staff member, causing the entire ceremony space to be set up facing the wrong direction. My mom, family, ushers, and day of coordinators had to then scramble to turn 150 seats, archway, florals, and sound equipment completely around. Not to mention the ceremony space was several rows short of chairs, 30+ which were inside at reception tables.
The onsite staff member never introduced herself to the day of coordinators, didn’t communicate with them on things like where they put the cupcakes (hint- they were put in a locked alcohol room we didn’t have access to that a security guard luckily saw when we asked him), and didn’t even stay through the ceremony. We genuinely didn’t know who was in charge from a venue standpoint from the start of the ceremony on. While the bar tenders and the security personnel were fantastic, there were things they simply didn’t know or couldn’t help with.
When communicating these shortcomings to Alyssa, she addressed it by blaming our day-of-coordinators and then confirmed that they were meant to set up facing west (when the onsite staff set everything up facing east), and saying it was? She then replied to the email we sent further detailing everything with some clarifying questions (2 paragraphs worth) with “I appreciate you sharing additional information and suggestions with me. I don't have any additional questions at this time.” - completely ignoring the questions that were asked in the previous email (my mom was hoping to get on the same page with the venue and understand what led to all of this as she potentially would have to coordinate weddings there in the future). Again, this is the Managing Director of Glasshouse that responded like that.
What’s most frustrating is that my mom couldn’t relax for most of her only daughter’s wedding day and was scrambling when things came up to help fix them because of oversights by Glasshouse. If I have one regret- genuinely it’s that.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
