Generations Portraiture is owned by me, Vanessa Bartels. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me and my work! I photograph approximately fifteen weddings per year, usually no more than two each month. All of my wedding packages include an engagement session, as I feel it is vital for my couples to get to know me and how I work, so that they will be comfortable and relaxed, knowing what to expect on their big day. Engagement sessions also help ME to prepare for the wedding day, as I am able to gauge the couple's comfort level in front of the camera. I am also able to prepare specific wedding day portrait ideas for each individual couple based on who they are and what makes them unique! Each of my packages also includes an album, as I believe strongly in the value of a professional album that visually tells the story of one's wedding, bringing back the emotions of the day for years to come! Full resolution digital images are included, and are released to couples after their album is delivered. My packages are based upon the number of hours of wedding day coverage that are needed from five hours of wedding day coverage on up. I always bring an assistant along to my weddings. My regular assistant is wonderful with children and family groups and has an eye for detail. She also acts as second photographer during the ceremony and reception. My photographic style is natural and relaxed, not overly posed or directed, as I want the relationship between my subjects to be the main focus of the portraits I make. I have a BA in Art, and focus on beautifully capturing the details that make each celebration unique. I do always allow for posed family shots at weddings, so as not to miss getting photographs of the people most important to the wedding couple.
