We are SO GLAD we had our wedding ceremony at Eden Gardens State Park! It is such a gorgeous venue!! We are a lesbian couple, and Lauren, the event coordinator for Eden Gardens, was totally cool with that.
A lot of couples get married on the beach, but we didn't want to do that because the wind can make it hard to hear the ceremony, direct sunlight is not very flattering for photos, and it costs a lot to reserve a tent as a rain backup plan. You know you need a rain backup plan any time of the year in Florida!
Eden gardens is, no contest, the best outdoor venue on the Panhandle. The background for photos is stunningly beautiful in all directions! We loved the 600-year-old wedding oak tree covered in moss and ferns. We also loved the views of the bay and the stately mansion. There is a reason a whole busload of high school kids arrived to take prom photos here just as we were leaving!
Eden gardens works great as a ceremony venue during the daytime. The price is fantastic - only $471 plus a $1 entry fee per guests reserves the park and the screened-in pavilion, which is an excellent rain backup plan. The pavilion has wood floors and a pretty view of the gardens, so I think it's nicer than most wedding tents. However, we were disappointed that you are not allowed to serve alcohol until after sunset. In April, that meant no alcohol until 7:20pm, by which time the mosquitos are usually out! So, we chose to have our reception elsewhere (Firefly restaurant).
It was easy to reach Lauren by phone, although her office hours are somewhat limited. It was tricky to reserve our date - you have to call at midnight 11 months before your desired wedding dates and leave a message. I called exactly at midnight and got my first choice: a Saturday in April.
We highly recommend Eden Gardens as a wedding ceremony venue!Sent on 07/01/2018

As a professional wedding photographer, I knew my daughter needed to get married at Eden under the wedding tree. She loves elegance, simplicity and a sense of history. Knowing hundreds of couples have shared this tree over the course of 100 years attracted her to the location.Sent on 09/12/2017
As luck would have it, Hurricane Irma began wandering over to Florida days before the wedding. The park wedding director made sure we were in the loop and helped provide alternative locations within the park. She was very helpful! The day of the wedding, we had already moved up the wedding several hours to miss Irma's wrath, but the park was issued an order to close. I don't know what they did, but they managed to keep it open long enough for us to finish the ceremony. Once again, another above and beyond vendor!

Beautiful venue and the employees are very helpful. There are quite a few rules and restrictions but very worth it in the end.Sent on 04/20/2016
