Derek is amazing. He was there with me through all the planning process. We had multiple phone calls the make sure the day's plan was steady. He showed up early to the grooms' places on the day and snapped a polaroid of our dog! Which was such a nice surprise since she wasn't involved in our wedding otherwise.

Derek is witty as hell and is ready to laugh at all times. We were a pretty calm couple and I'll admit our group of friends are really seasoned from being a part of many weddings now, but I just can't ever explain how smooth everything went with him. We got all our photos done in a timely manner. Our sneak peak blew us AWAY! I purposefully dedicated a chunk of my budget to my photographer, but Derek took things to the next level.

I saw Derek at the St Charles Convention Center Bridal Expo and immediately fell in love with his pictures. I am a big fan of the more photo journalistic / fine art style photos and I feel that his photos fall right in line with this. I booked him for my wedding photographer and in the package he included an engagement shoot.

Derek is very professional. Leading up to our engagement shoot, Derek was always great at responding to my texts and emails. We had no issues with communication. He took the time to get to know us (and about us) prior to the shoot. On the day of, he was punctual and 110% prepared for our engagement shoot. He had ideas of poses or unique shots for us to try but also played off us and what we were doing. He had multiple cameras and video cameras to use at his discretion. He even brought a speaker! He was so easy to talk to and we look forward to having him become part of our big day since photos are a big part of it!

Overall, our experience at our engagement shoot was absolutely wonderful. My fiancé called him the “perfect hype guy”. He made us feel comfortable and even made the engagement shoot feel like a fun date night.

Thoughts on the finished photos: The quality of the photos are stunning and the different angles, and techniques Derek used, captured the evening perfectly. His editing style makes all of our photos look even more romantic, and timeless.

We were looking to get the MOST bang for our buck, and Derek DEFINITELY made that happen. He is professional and fun, he can adapt to anything. We changed plans last minute and he made it work. We even did a bunch of pictures on the fly and he was game for all of them. 10/10 would recommend!
